I should have wrote this review much earlier as I visited them a few months ago to get a check engine light diagnosed/cleared on my 2012 Mini Countryman. Their diagnosis was the same as the one I ran on my diagnostic tool, so no surprises there, and they cleared it for a reasonable price (just below dealership cost). What really impressed me however was the extra attention my car received while being inspected. Not only did the mechanic diagnose the issue of a "light bulb warning" that periodically flashed on, which the dealership had yet to do, but they also cleaned-up my engine bay by repositioning wires/hoses to make it more "organized" as I had recently upgraded my stock intake to an after market one. I rarely write yelp reviews but I felt compelled to write one about this shop. I recently bought a used 2007 used Mini Cooper (and I know nothing about them) and I figured to take it in to see if it needed an oil change. I spoke with Bill on the phone who informed me that his MINI tech guy was on vacation until the next week, but told me to come on by so they could do a quick look at it just to make sure nothing dire was wrong with my car, all for free! So I scheduled an appointment for when his mechanic would be back and went to the shop for him to check it out. He was very nice and showed me what a lot of the buttons that I had no clue were. I had a tire pressure light on, and told him that my fiancé and I just filled them up at a gas station the night before. Well turns out the gage at the gas station was WAY off because we ended up putting way too much air in the tires (also we naively thought the pressure shown on the tire was the limit you're supposed to set it at, not at the max limit...whoops!) But Bill was very nice and checked all the tires himself and let the air out, all for free. So fast forward to my actual appointment. I drop off the car and go back to work. A few hours later I get an email with a full breakdown of what they found during the oil change and he immediately calls me to go over the email. I go back to the shop, pay, and on my way. The very next day he calls to say that they accidentally overcharged me, since I am a first time customer the oil change should've been $30 cheaper! PLUS on top of that he said they would replace my wipers for free (a $30 value)!! That was a very genuine thing to do, they could've let it slide, and I sure as heck wouldn't have know the difference, but they are very nice people and really seem to care about the customer. I would highly recommend anyone with a MINI to come here, I'm already going to set up an appointment with them to fix my trunk latch. read more

I have owned my BMW 325iC for over twenty years and have been a customer of BME for over ten. I can say without hesitation that Rick and the staff at BME are one of the best repair shops you can find anywhere. They are not the low-cost provider but the work is exact and professional and you can have complete confidence in the quality and thoroughness of the work performed. As every BMW owner knows they are not inexpensive cars to keep running - the older BMWs in particular - and it is often a decision of what is the most cost-effective way of getting the car back on the road. (At 205,000 miles we have transcended "repair" to "restore.") To their credit, it has consistently been my experience that BME strives to deliver the best repair options available. Although they do a great job servicing vehicles, and maintain their reputation, they take advantage of the one thing that every euro car owner fears, price. Do yourself a favor and order your own parts and only bring it to them for installation, because they will mark up parts you need for repairs easily by 200%-300%. Again their service is great, however when you come in for something you yourself could repair for 100 bucks, they will end up charging you something like 500+. read more

Hi Rick Thank you for your reply but let me be more detailed about my experience with your mechanic expert We were talking about the things to be fixed and I did ask him a question about if you do finacial aid with the car in order to fix everything because back home I have two family members with cancer and I am the only one working and the amount was over $5000 or what my opinions were in order to fix it and his reply was "if you can't afford a BMW go and buy a Toyota"..that was really senseless and rude on his behalf because we all one time in our lives comes to difficult situations. His next move was that I lost lots time with you and now I have to go leaving me speechless with this behavior. I am asking someone to pay my bill or fix the car for free I just asked him what were my options in order to know how to proceed. Great and friendly staff. Great Service. I pull up in my 2010 3 series at 10am and they had my oil change and inspection done before noon. About 1/3 cheaper than the dealership too, and it's right there so very convenient. They also give a very detail report that list every issue/ potential problems that i may encounter later on, which helps tremendously. read more

I decided to get my vehicle oil change and brake fluid flush at BME--the first time getting my vehicle serviced since my maintenance warranty expired. It was an awesome experience. Staff is extremely friendly, professional, and knowledgeable on BMWs. They are very detailed-oriented and used all OEM products. Finally, they run a tight shop. Chris Ieft a flyer on my car introducing themselves so i decided to try them since ive had such poor service from BMW. Bmw charged me over $4k for a clutch job last time so i was very unhappy with them. BME is just the opposite! They are constantly updating me with both what's going on and why, they gave me back the faulty parts without my having to ask, and most importantly they took the time to troubleshoot my car to make sure all the problems are fixed correctly. My electrical system computer needed replacing and they did such a thorough job they found that BMW had neglected setting up my car correctly from their previous work. BME corrected all this with minimal cost and my Mini runs smoother than when first delivered! I can't thank Chris and Vortek enough! I'm on my second X5 and always take my cars to Rick at BME. I'm a bit of a DIY, and Rick will always offer his opinion which allows me to determine whether I should tackle the problem or not. One thing I don't do is brakes for it's far too important to do it right the first time. I just had a full brake job and Rick and team got it done the same day. I have been a customer of Bavarian Motor Experts for several years, and find them to be a good alternative to the nearby BMW dealership. I can perform much of the less complex maintenance and repair jobs on my car, but for more involved jobs that are beyond my capabilities and equipment, this is the shop I usually choose. They are well equipped to handle most jobs, have experienced technicians, and do good work. They don't seem to pressure you into getting a whole slew of additional things done like the advisers at the dealership do. If they notice other areas that may need attention, they will let you know, sometimes just a note on the invoice if it is not critical. This shop is on the expensive side, though their prices are usually less than those of the dealership (I always do comparison shopping). Their markup on parts is also on the high side, with pricing that is sometimes comparable to what the dealership charges. If cost is important to you, there are other shops that are less expensive, but as the saying goes, and my personal experience at some of these other shops tells me, you pay your money and you take your chances. If you want the job done right, and want to save a little below dealership prices, BME is a good choice. read more

When my cars have gone out of warranty, I start bringing it to BME. Been going since 1999 and they're great. Voytek and Rick are courteous and knowledgeable. They run a really nice operation... clean facility, well run. Great shop with great customer service. BME is a full service shop for both BMW and Mini that uses the same equipment and computers that the dealership uses; which enables them to do the majority of the repairs the dealership can do, but at a fraction of the cost. I've been bringing my 2006 550i to them for the majority of it's repairs/maintenance needs and haven't had any problems. I can be a difficult customer at times, but both Brandon and Rick (both Service Advisers) have helped me on numerous occasions and with flying colors. They both have taken the time to go into the technical aspects of the repair process and explain what is involved. I particularly like this because I don't like blindly throwing money at a problem. They follow up with phone calls very well and meet or exceed estimated repair/service times consistently. Both have allowed me to speak with the mechanics directly and even show me what was being done on some of the repairs (taking me under the car and pointing out the issues/repairs). Rick is extremely knowledgeable about these cars as well as comprehensive about the mechanics, symptoms, and the repairs/services involved. He is also the main person that works with warranty companies and is very familiar with the process. Brandon has gone the extra mile on several occasions and has squeezed me into last minute appointments when I ran into major (and minor) issues, has replaced missing bolts/plastic clips when he noticed they were damaged or missing, and replaced bulbs when they were burnt out (not including xenons, which is completely understandable). They are both very knowledgeable and have a lot of experience with these two brands of cars. I appreciate both their efforts because it shows they care about the quality and comprehensiveness of their work. Their work is also warranted for 2 years or 24,000 miles. If you have a BMW or Mini and don't want to pay dealership prices, bring it to Bavarian Motor Experts. read more

It's really hard to find a place that upholds there code of ethics, the gentleman that work here, right off the bat will go above and beyond to get your BMW in showroom condition. I have experienced BMW of Honolulu, I was greatly disappointed, I will never get my car serviced there again, that place is a joke. It took them 2weeks to put in a battery and a camshaft sensor that dealership is a joke, they clearly have no idea how to handle cars nor customers. B M E actually shows you what's wrong with your car, and they break it down to you Barney style and make sure you understand. Also they give you tips and advise to keep your car running longer. You get what you pay for. Straight up professionals. The Story: I bought a 330i from a douche. We had been in the same unit together that deployed. I automatically trusted him when buying his wife's car. He had used silicone to seal several leaks in the engine, and even used silicone to glue several broken off engine bolt heads onto the engine. Needless to say, the engine gushed out every liquid within a couple weeks. Some war buddy... thanks for nothing. And you call yourself a Christian...anyways... So I go to my old standby mechanic. After several tries, he literally says, "I am sorry, you gotta find a European company, we can't figure all this out." I YELP. I see BME. I call... Viola. They are nice, courteous, SUPER THOROUGH. You get an email of the ridiculously detailed inspections, and progress. They call and confirm every item of work. They are awesome!!!! Maybe you pay more than your neighborhood guy you have taken your 1991 Camry to for 25 years, but it gets done right, the first time, and they actually know the problem instead of trying different things. I have a BMW and was recommended by a friend to go see these guys after the dealership wanted to charge me a king's ransom to get some things fixed. I have used these guys (Rick and Brandon are who I have dealt with both times) and they are awesome. They explain everything and when I called the first time, I forgot to tell Brandon something. I called back and as soon as he heard my voice, he said, 'Oh, hi, what can I do for you?'. He never made me feel like he didn't have the time for me. I had MAJOR work done the first time (including a new clutch installed) and they were extremely honest about everything. Their prices are lower or comparable but the service and personal attention is STELLAR compared to the dealer. They are very knowledgable, compassionate, and caring. Brandon spent as much time as my husband and I needed when we arrived to pick up the car both times. They also suggested waiting on fixing certain things as we are not sure if we are going to sell the car or not. I want to get another BMW just so we can continue partronizing them! Their attention to detail is impeccable and so honest. Also, it's the small details that people think you don't notice that speak volumes of the establishment. They always returned calls promptly and knew our names as soon as we walked into the shop both times. One more thing, Rick has a dog that he told us was a stray that he found and brought to the Humane Society. He rescued a stray dog from the streets of Honolulu with no ID or microchip. He adopted it after they looked for the owner and couldn't find them. The fact that he rescued the dog in the first place shows his caring for others less fortunate. And the fact that he took it to the Humane Society to try and find the owners shows integrity as well. He said he would feel bad if there was someone looking for their dog. Although this has nothing to do with cars, it has a lot to say about his compassion and integrity. Which of course, translates over to his business. He probably doesn't realize that I noticed all of this as it's really just 'background' but it meant a great deal to me that he rescued that dog. The shop is incredibly clean and immaculate. I used the bathroom both times we had our car in the shop. It's cleaner than the bathroom in my home. The office and shop area has floors that are clean enough to eat off of. Another thing they may think people don't notice. Anyhow, I can't say enough good things about these guys, reasonably priced, hard working, full of integrity, and compassionate for those of us unfortunate enough to have to take our car into the shop to fix!
