Had a sewer block and called an un-named company out (not Roto-rooter, used them very satisfactory…read moreabout 8 years ago before main was replaced) and they cleared the blockage, then rec run camera in line and showed what appeared to be splits in a cast iron pipe and rec hydro-flush and install a epoxy liner inside pipe for 23k, decided to get second opinion. As an engineer I searched internet and found Nu-flow pipe repair with a very well put together animation video of their process on their website and contacted them for their Bay Area representative. Trench free contacted me and I arranged for them to come out to give a quote. They were on time and very prompt and professional, the technician Carlos, who has been in the business over 20 years, arrived and ran the camera in 15 minutes and there was no iron pipe or cracks on his screen, not sure what other company was showing me, but the camera was very clear and showed PVC pipe for whole length of pipe. He was totally forthright and honest and said he doesn't see anything that needed repairing. The house is from 1949 but the sewer lines were replaced on 2 sides of the house in the 1980's to eliminate the septic tank and the final main 80' foot long clay pipe was replaced in 2019 to the street. We are a very satisfied US Air Force Veteran and will recommend them to all we know for future work. Carlos saved us from a very expensive repair. He did comment we have a shallow drop on the long pipe line and may need to send extra water down to flush debris out.

We evaluated around 6-7 companies, and off the recommendation of a neighbor we had Letts come out. I was a bit hesitant because you are charged for a minimum of an hour, there is no free estimate. However, in that time he shored up a leak with a temporary patch and had an estimate of how much work it would be to take care of everything, which ended up being much more reasonable than some other places we evaluated. Adam came back when he had enough open schedule to fix everything and some parts were shipped in. An incredibly nice guy, and just an incredibly fair and integrity oriented operation. All the vendors I evaluated were five stars with many reviews, but Letts was the only one that didn't feel like I was being upsold and he was just out there to help me solve my problems. Honestly can't wait to hire them again, which is an absurd thing to say about a plumber, but man what a great experience. I will rave about them to anyone who will listen.

They most recently removed an old water softener and installed new copper piping where the softener connections were. Oddly, the tech charged us for new copper while keeping the copper sections he removed, saying he was adding it to their collection. I get not being able to reuse the sections connected to the old valves but there was some that could have been reused, or left for our recycling. Not a huge deal, just seemed odd that he mentioned keeping it for their future use. We'll still use Letts and recommend them to friends. They're very prompt. The work is done well. And the job sites are left clean.

I used him a month ago. They not only overcharge me beyond what they estimated they were over double that and said they had to do a bunch of extra work that I did not authorize! I actually met the owner at my site because of the inconsistencies and he continued to give me inconsistent information beyond what his technician gave me so I have no trust in these people at all and I will never use them again. I found a completely legitimate service for a third of the price by a friend recommendation.

We had been using a different plumbing company who had their whole admin team turn over and…read moreunfortunately their customer service and responsiveness tanked, so we reached out to Avalon in a bit of a pickle. All of the plumbers we've worked with have been knowledgeable and great, and Regina who answers the phones always gets back to my quickly (noting they do not provide 24/7 emergency services - but that's clear on their website and they tell you upfront). They've descaled our tankless water heater, double checked how it was set up by the previous plumbing company, connected a tub overflow drain that was just draining into the space between floors and dripping down out of a heating vent to the first floor (aka it wasn't ever connected when the tub was installed before we were involved), and more. I also really appreciate how their staff is willing to take the time for me to watch them and learn - I knew nothing about plumbing and have learned so much. They also have taken ownership of some small mistakes - just stuff like once someone came out to I thought descale our tankless water heater but he thought he was just assessing it - and they didn't charge me for that visit and came back as soon as it fit into my schedule. Since things like that happen and everyone is doing their best, I really appreciate companies like Avalon that just say whoops sorry, let's see how we can fix this. They also all are totally willing to wear shoe covers and masks when inside our house, are tidy and communicative, and just generally nice people to be around - which we haven't found to be the case with all other companies in this field. I recently left a slightly panicked message overnight about a possible gas leak (not being sure who to call - turns out the gas company was actually who I should call and they responded quickly) and Regina called me back right as they opened the next day to check in even though my question was outside of Avalon's scope.
