For the wedding, he provided mobile baraat services (and did a great job with the music!) as well as audio for the ceremony. During our reception, he provided DJ services for the evening (did not have any issues with using the custom audio mixes we provided), as well as uplighting (which he adjusted during each dance performance) and fog machine (used for our first dance). Gagan was one of the biggest sources of support during our wedding. His calm demeanor and patient approach was integral to making sure our wedding was a success. Not only was he extremely thorough himself, with his wide net of connections, he was able to connect us with another deejay, dhol player, etc. He has been in the business for a while, and as a result of his hard work, tireless dedication, and easy-going personality, he has prior experience working with so many of our vendors and our venue. From the moment we got engaged and asked for his support, he shared his recommendations and connected us with so many people. He reassured us time and again that we were in good hands - and we were! He deejayed, in conjunction with DJ Kapil, our sangeet, reception and set up and utilized all of our sound systems, mics, etc. He was essentially our day-of (and day before) coordinator. I sent him so many frantic emails and texts, and he calmed me down every time. Our sangeet was a huge hit! I have a very diverse group of friends and very specific taste in music (90s Bay Area rap, early 2000s southern rap, Bhangra mixes, Bollywood hits, pop, etc.) and he was able to deliver in an unbelievable way! My husband and I had no idea where to even look for a dholi and he found one who played the dhol during the baraat and reception and was a favorite amongst our guests. The night before the wedding, my husband and I still needed support finalizing songs for the wedding entrances, reception entrances, timeline for the wedding day. Gagan calmly talked us down from our frenzied state, linked YouTube songs to the times in our spreadsheet, downloaded everything and made sure we were relaxed and ready. The following morning, Gagan made sure everything was set. When we couldn't get a hold of the horse contact, he made many calls and finally led the mobile baraat on his truck. He made the transition as seamless as possible and everyone enjoyed the pre-wedding dance party. The music was so on point, that even my dance-shy husband danced for an hour on a truck in front of hundreds of people! Now for the reception. Minutes before we were heading into the reception, I was still texting Gagan to "cancel this song" or "this dance" or "never mind what I just said" and he stayed calm and made sure every request was met. He did a wonderful job of MCing the event and feeling the crowd. He worked with our decorator and set up our hall with beautiful up lights and a gobo/monogram we had chosen from his easy-to-use website. Gagan killed it on the turn tables! I hired him and his team for two events (sangeet and reception). Gagan knows how to tailor his music to the crowd but also knows when to turn things up! Totally unacceptable. Made an appointment via the telephone to have my wedding venue job quoted. The next afternoon, I sent off, and received back, a nice email confirmation. Everything looked real solid and professional. This is pretty routine stuff for a Special Event Coordinator like myself. They assist me in client consultations and our end product has always been amazing. We had an event June 2012, at Flamingo Banquet in Sacramento, where the venue had green walls, and the client wanted to cover all of the green because it didn't go with her wedding color theme. My big fat indian wedding took place this month, we had 4 events planned - Sangeet, Cocktail, Wedding, and Reception. Naturally getting a good DJ was a huge deal while planning this wedding and I going through the huge list of vendors serving the bay area I decided to go with DJ Gagan from Bay Area Uplighting because from the get go Gagan was very helpful, professional and he understood my long list of needs and the company was truly a one stop shop for everything I wanted. From the LED DJ booth, to the uplighting, to the photo booth, and the dhol player, the Mobile baraat (AAHHAMZING) and the DJ services, I got everything I needed for my events and more and I didn't have to go thru the trouble of going to different vendors for different things. All the venues looked spectacular with the amazing lighting Gagan did and I was truly in awe everytime I walked into one of our venues. But the most epic part was the DJ set up every night. 2 Most important things at an Indian Wedding are FOOD and MUSIC, and the music was a HUGE hit at our wedding. DJ Gagan was so amazing. I told him in advance I wanted all the new Bollywood songs because my family is big on Bollywood music and the list of songs I received from him was endless. He has an amazing collection and it was different every night. You did not have to tell anyone to be on the dance floor, the crowd just followed. We had back to back events starting from 15th May to the 17th May, with my wedding and reception being on the same day on the 17th, Gagan was still very punctual and came early to every event to set up, he even met with my wedding day event coordinator a day before the wedding (that was the cocktail night) to see how he would set up his lighting and everything for the wedding and reception. He even had to wait over an hour or so outside the cocktail venue coz the venue was being rude and wouldn't let him in till 6pm, he still didn't make a fuss over it or had any hangups about that. I love how easy it was to work with him. I strongly recommend DJ Gagan and Bay Area Uplighting to anyone whos having a a wedding event or a party, they are punctual, very easy to work with, and they understand your needs and demands and do even more than you ask. My parents initially met with Gagan for uplighting our reception during our wedding and he sold them on DJing. I was a bit skeptical -- would someone who focuses on uplighting be a good DJ? In short the answer is a definite yes. Gagan answered all of our questions, was able to play through a specific playlist we sent along and had people dancing all night. His mobile baraat was also a big hit. Further, he wasn't a DJ that felt as though he needed to introduce every song -- it just felt like the perfect dance party all night with a great mix of Western, Bollywood and Bhangra music. We used Gagan at Bay Area Uplighting for our wedding on March 28, 2015. We had a multi-cultural wedding (I am Indian and my wife is white) so we needed just the right balance. Without too much guidance, Gagan produced a beautiful and appropriate atmosphere (light and music) for our special day. Gagan met us at our venue and designed the lighting plan which ended up including about 40 uplights. They were the latest technology and performed wonderfully. For music, he handled the PA for our dinner room with zero glitches (no feedback, no cutouts). He also set up our light-up dance floor and massive speakers for our party. He brought a dholi to play along with some of the songs. The effect was spectacular. Our guests had a magical time and I never once had to think about lighting or music or AV the whole day. In terms of music, we sent Gagan a few special songs that we needed played for our first dance, entrance, etc. They were cued up and played perfectly (not even a second off). Then for the party, we had sent him a representative song list. He selected from that and improvised, blending the songs together perfectly -- and avoiding that awkward moment when a slow song plays after a hype song. We were having a hard time finding someone who wouldn't charge us an arm and a leg for a la carte uplighting, when we stumbled upon these guys. Gagan came out to my venue (The Pavilion Event Center at Boulder Ridge Golf Club) to do a quick consultation and we determined the 12-light package for $300 would be best. Now that comes in as #1 when it comes to planning any event, especially a wedding You want to feel like your ideas and needs are understood. That is exactly the service we got when we worked with Gagan. We wanted to do a simple uplighting set up for the wedding and more vibrant set up for the reception. Some vendors have a hard time catering to these sort of requests and often end up messing it up. On the day of, we were very pleased and it felt as though the set up was exactly as we imagined.
