I have been going to this clinic for a couple of years and I see Dr. Bui. She is very kind and very thorough. The office staff is friendly and the opticians that I have experienced ( this last time Andra) are very nice and seem to do a great job. Their selection of frames really leans on the conservative side so I haven't bought frames through them. My Mom has see Dr. Coughlin and she likes him as well. The facility itself is very nice and there is parking usually available right in front of the facility. The only negative is that the exam room doesn't have air moving and it is quite hot when the door is closed. I can recommend this facility, the doctors and staff. read more

Tried all optometrists in the DP area, they are hard sell, I settled for a pair of glasses no line bifocal spent over $1300.00 was not happy where the transition line was, went back they did not get it right, never had a problem with lens crafters during the past 20 years. If you need cataract surgery they refer you to Dr Filutowski who is great and he himself does nothing but cataracts , however Bay Hill Eye Care does get a referral fee from them, it would be nice if they disclose that . I am going to Coan eyecare now in Occoe live them, they have a great dry eye clinic too offering lipiflow and ipl. read more

I am a very busy real estate professional whose schedule makes it difficult to make personal appointments during the week. I had a 10:00 eye appointment scheduled today. I got there at 9:55 this morning and checked in. Due to a very important corporate meeting that was just scheduled on Friday afternoon for 11:30 today, I specifically had the receptionist ask another employee how long the appointment would last. I was told 45 minutes at the most. So, here I sit in the waiting area when another gentleman comes in and says he has a 10:20 appointment with the same optometrist as me. Well, it is already 10:20. At 10:25, I try to notify the receptionist that I needed to reschedule, but there are a couple of women in front of me. Finally, I am walking out the door when they called my name. I said "sorry, I have to leave to make my meeting". I realize that appointments can run over, but for people like me, our time is important as well. Nice people there, but I will likely go to another optometrist, which is also in part due to a $90 contact lens fitting fee on top of the regular exam/visit charges. read more

For three years now I've been going to Bay Hill Eye Care, and I'm surprised I haven't Yelped about them until now. I go every year for my normal checkup, and then maybe two other times throughout the year to pick up contact lenses. Each time I visit the location the staff is friendly, and generally just happy to be at work. I haven't seen anyone having a 'bad day' ever. The waiting area is kind of small, but not uncomfortable. There is even a small children's play area in the corner. My daughter enjoys playing with the Lego's and Mr. Potato Head dolls every time. And just for parents like me who hate germs, there is even a large bottle of hand sanitizer to use after the playing is done. The average wait time from start to finish is about 40 minutes. An appointment is strongly recommended since there is always a steady flow of customers, especially around the beginning of the year. I only buy glasses every other year, so I don't really look at all of the frames, but there are hundreds to choose from. All the frames they carry are designer frames from Gucci to Baby Phat and everything in between. They are all great quality, and there seems to be a style to fit just about any ones needs. Bay Hill Eye Care accepts most insurances, just ask if your not sure about yours. Their web site is pretty easy to navigate, so anything that I may have left out will be on there. I think they are even expanding to a new location. I know no matter where they may move to, I will be a customer for a long time! read more

When you call to make the appt with Bay Hill Optical you are not actually talking to the place your appt will be. I called and asked about the cost of a contact lens eye exam as my Rx had expired. I was told they start at $82 and I asked what is the variable for price and she said it depends on the lens they fit you with. I said I don't have a astigmatism and she said it will likely be $82. I clarified that i didn't have insurance and was the price the same, she said yes. I said great lets get an appt. I was then transferred to another place (Bay Hill Occhiali) to make the actual appt. I got to the office on time and after filling out paper work i was led to the back to have some machine Ive never seen used before supposedly measure what my vision was? and then it blew air in my eye to measure the pressure. The lady didn't explain it well and neglected to ask if I was wearing contacts, which I wasn't supposed to be apparently, so I had to do it twice. Then I was led back to the waiting area, until the Dr. called me. After 5 minutes Dr. Buoi called for me. She was very nice and began trying to figure out what lens would fit me best, despite me saying i wore a 8.4 base curve. after 20 minutes of finding a lens fit and Rx to match my vision, she asked me if i wanted my eyes dilated. Um, yeah, that's part of the eye exam isn't it? So I'm given the drops and put back out in the lobby/waiting area to wait. That's never happened before. They usually let you stay in the darkened room to adjust. 15 minutes later I'm summoned once more to complete the exam. She wants to try again with a contact lens fit so we do that and finally I get to leave. I got to pay and the lady says (same lady that did the initial air burst test) that will be $180. Whoa! I explain what occurred when I called and asked what the additional $100 is for and she says the contact lens fitting was $82 and the eye exam was $99. So I'm confused why anyone would get a lens fitting if they weren't getting the exam as well and tell her that i would've gone to my normal Dr. had I known the charge was more. She agrees to charge me the $130 my normal Dr. charges and I begrudgingly pay that. Total time there: 1 hr and 40 min. Needless to say I wont be returning and I'll make sure not to miss the the vision insurance option at next sign up. read more

Bay Hill Vision is a very nice office with top of the line technology and frames. The abolute best part of the whole experience is that they have this machine that takes pictures of your eyes in lieu of having your eyes dilated. Who wants to mess with having pupils dilated--for me that is the WORST. This technology is a slight extra charge, but I have a flex spending account on my insurance which covers items like this. For the convenience, it is worth it. The frames here are of the highest quality. I ended up with a pair of Gucci prescription glasses and Armani sunglasses. Again, was able to use my flex spending account for the difference between what insurance pays and what I had to pay. If you are looking for designer frames, this is the place to go. No one pushed me to order a certain type of frame. I tried on quite a few and this is what I came up with on my own accord. The only reason that I am not giving the place 5 stars is because they really do push you to order one day disposable contacts. Which I ended up doing. I have worn contacts for 15 years and never used the daily wear. This visit I left with a brand, didn't like them, came back and tried another brand. These worked and I ended up ordering them. Because I ordered one year worth, I receive $100 mail in rebate so it is worth it. It is worth not paying for contact solution and having fresh lenses in my eyes daily. The bottom line is, this place is fantastic if you want professional service, high technology and stylish frames. read more

I have never been a fan of going to the optometrist, because they usually tell me that my eyes have gotten worse, and I don't really want to hear that. Who does? There are certain things that Bay Hill does that make you feel better about coming here to get your eyes checked, but there are also numerous things they do that will make you think twice about returning. As it stands currently, it is unlikely that I will. My first appointment with them was approximately 7 months ago. I needed a new pair of glasses after my 3-yr-old pair broke and was no longer useful. When I made my appointment, I pointed out that I only wanted to get my eyes checked for glasses, not contact lens wear, even though I mainly wear contact lenses. They said that would be fine, as long as I get my contact lens fitting within 6 months of the initial appointment. Btw, the contact lens check is additional cost. So I went, after reminders via text and email, to my first appointment and had a relatively painless experience. The assistant was friendly and the doctor was fine. The only issue I had was how he pushed for me to get daily contact lenses instead of the ones I currently use. I thought it was odd that he was talking about contact lenses after what I stated earlier. I went with it anyway, and eventually brought out to the shop area to pick out my new pair of glasses. As expected, shopping for a new pair of glasses is like shopping for a new car at the dealership. They will push you to get a pair that is of the highest prices. And you will need to be firm about your budget and stick to it. If you waver, you will end up being convinced that the $400 pair is the best for you and you will suffer from buyer's remorse afterwards. Bay Hill does this more than any other spectacle shop I've ever been to, but that doesn't mean you can't still win. When I was presented with the bill, I noticed that the extra charge for contact lens fitting was included. *groan* They obliged to have my appointment set for exactly 6 months from the initial appointment and that it would be "free" since I already paid for it. Fine. But after the numerous times I made sure that it was excluded, they failed their part anyway. Minor inconvenience, but disconcerting nonetheless. The second appointment was just a month ago and again, the doctor tried to convince me to switch to using the daily contact lenses. He said that after doing the math, it would save me money in the long run (a year) because I wouldn't need to buy the solutions. I wasn't convinced. They didn't do any of the additional tests that I am usually subjected to the other times I've gone to an optometrist either, but I ended up at the shop again, and a different sales person tried to convince me to switch to the dailies as well. I simply asked for their quote and left, much to the sales person's apparent annoyance. When I did the math afterwards, obtaining a whole year's supply of my usual contact lenses + cleaning solutions came up to $150 LESS than if I had purchased the dailies. Hm! They're not horrible, and overall, I was somewhat happy with my new pair of glasses and the eye appointment. They're just really obnoxious about making you spend more than you really need to. If you're good at getting a deal at car dealerships, you'll do just fine here. =) read more

I won't be going back. I went to Dr. Coughlin to get an exam and new contacts. I had no problems with my old contacts, I could just tell I needed an updated prescription. As soon as the doctor came in he started selling me on daily contacts (I was wearing bi-weeklies). He kept talking about how bi-weeklies are "old technology" and how dailies are "the future of the industry." As just a casual contact wearer do I really know the details of the industry, or how good or bad the different types of contacts are? No. So I got the dailies. Short story: I hated them. I went back, and Dr. Coughlin fitted me for a different brand of dailies. He put a different contact each eye to test them out, and said he wouldn't tell me which brand was more expensive until after I picked the one I liked. I told him that I could barely afford the contacts I had already ordered, and he kind of belittled me for it. So I picked one and went home with a more expensive pair of dailies. As I was pretty upset about how much this whole endeavor was costing, I researched the prices of bi-weekly vs. daily contacts on the internet. Unsurprisingly, bi-weeklies are way cheaper. I called the Dr.'s office to see if they even carried bi-weeklies (since the doctor never mentioned any bi-weekly options, I thought maybe they didn't even have them) and they did. I went back. I told Dr. Coughlin I wanted bi-weeklies and he tried to sell me on yet another (more expensive) brand of dailies. I insisted. He finally gave in. So I FINALLY walked away with the bi-weekly contacts that worked for my eyes. They were $300 cheaper than the dailies he had been trying to make me buy. The only good thing they did was refund me for the amount I had already spent on the dailies, no hassle. read more

I have been having my eyes tested yearly by Dr. Coughlin for the past several years. He is very professional and takes the time with me to explain any details about the tests that were performed. Since I am a diabetic and also have high blood pressure, testing yearly is in my best interests. One of their testing tools is a machine called an Optimap. I had never seen a view of my eyes before and that just blew me away. It helps me understand much better the inner workings of my eyes and is a superb means to gauge how I am doing each year. As far as the office staff is concerned - they all are very professional and have always treated me with respect. The associates who do some of the testing are very friendly and explain to me what is being done and are willing to answer any questions I might pose. Eyecare is so important for all of us - no matter what our age might be. I hope this review is helpful. I am a grandmother and both of my grandsons also are tested by Dr. Coughlin. Apparently only those who sell this brand have the tools to repair them ( learned after visits to 3 other spots). It was about 1/2 hour drive but well worth it. The receptionist was friendly and I was quickly seated with a staff member. This young lady was great, glasses fixed quickly. I asked if I could buy a case - she gave me one for free. I was recommended to them through my pediatrician, we suspected my daughter might need glasses. I called my insurance to verify that they were in network and to get authorization for the referral prior to calling for an appointment. All was. fine. I called to make an appointment and when I gave the woman at Bay Hill my insurance she insisted that I was not covered for vision. I explained that I had already confirmed that my children were covered with my insurance and then she said that while they might be covered for an eye exam they would NOT be covered for glasses. Again I told her that I already confirmed that they were indeed covered for an annual eye exam and glasses if needed. She then proceeded to tell me that "she did this for a living" then put me on hold so that someone else could schedule my appointment. Rude snarky and unprofessional. Pass! read more

I have been going to Bay Hill Eye Care for 5 years and will not go back. All they are interested in is making money selling designer frames and sunglasses. They dont even tell you they have more affordable frames (under $129 if you call that affordable) available in the back room. They dont even like to provide you with a print out of your perscription so you can go shop for frames or contacts. read more
