Bay Leaf is delicious beyond description. When my husband's coworkers visit from India, they flock here and rave about the food. The butter chicken is incredible so is the paneer. Absolutely delicious. Mulligatawny Soup flavored on point, as were all of our items. We ordered "mild" across the board for spiciness. It was the perfect hint of flavor, the distinct masala for each dish was clear and very tasty. We placed our "take-out" order via GrubHub. My suggestion to patrons, skip the middle man and call restaurant directly to place your order. My suggestion to restaurant, forget GrubHub and others like them and do DoorDash or other local delivery service who will process orders and deliver for you, seems better for the Eagan marketplace. AMAZING just go eat here. I've ate Indian food maybe 7 times and this was ridiculously tasty. My daughter loves Indian food and said it was her most delicious meal since in town on vacation. I, too, will begin with a disclaimer. We were huge fans of Indian Zayka, loved the wonderful customer service, and came to feel treated somewhat as family when we visited, which adds so much to an eating experience. My husband and I visited Bay Leaf for lunch buffet for the first time on Monday. I was kind of sad when I pulled up and saw the new sign, reminding us that one of our old "favorites" was gone. We were soon enveloped in wonderful smells, and exploring a beautiful variety of flavor-filled foods, though, and developing a love for the new restaurant in our old, familiar space. I tried all of the vegetarian dishes, and each one had a unique flavor with wonderful seasonings; my husband said the meat dishes were delicious as well. Service was attentive and prompt. As we paid our bill, we visited for a short time with a woman behind the counter (perhaps manager/owner) who was gracious and very welcoming. We are looking forward to our next visit. read more

It was my favorite restaurant until I went for the buffet 1st jan 2018 the items were not being refilled , if you had naan there was no curry and if they got curry they were out of puris and naan. the sweets were not as expected..too dry and not tasty the pav bhaji and chicken items were all looking burnt. wish the buffet is good again read more

I did enjoy my experience here, service was great and food seems like very good quality. My main complaint is that I asked for a MILD spice level with my meal and it was insanely spicy. I like spicy food but it practically burned a hole in my tongue. Three of us at my table asked for different spice levels and they all tasted about the same level. It bothers me when restaurants do this. I understand it's Indian but by no one's interpretation would that spice level have been mild. The food was still good (What I could taste of it) but it did kind of ruin the meal. I will definitely come back here, but I will make sure to be VERY clear about the spice level I want.. read more

One of my favorite Indian restaurants. Love the chicken tikka! The lunch buffet is great, and it's a nice way to try a bunch of things if you are new to Indian cuisine. Staff is friendly, they keep your drinks full and your plates cleared when you go back for more. It's normally quite full with Indian customers, which I take as a good sign. read more

Delicious and amazing. I loved Zaika (the Indian restaurant that formerly occupied this space in an eagan strip mall). Huge fan of the Sunday buffet. They rotate dishes a LOT which I love. Just ate here for dinner tonight. We had 3 apps and 2 entrees and the bull was under $50. The food is full of flavor and spice. We ordered it spicy which was decent for spiciness but it could have been a bit more spicy for my taste. The spring rolls where crispy and hot, excellent dipped in the green sauce. I had the lamb biryani and it the serving was enough for a family of 4. The atmosphere is very plain but they make up for that with the price and amount of options they have. First time going to this place with my friends and we all experienced one of the worst service ever. Our server by the name of Lada gave us very bad service. A couple of times He had mixed up our order with another table. When it came time to settle our bill and leave, he did not want to-print out a copy of the bill for us when we asked. which we thought was very unusual. Then after he printed us the receipt we noticed he tried to sneakily charged us a double tip, giving himself a total of $50 for such poor service. It was very unethical and shady that he didn't disclose or give us the printed tab that there will be an automatic tip on the bill. The server even had the nerve to deny it and say it was our fault for tipping him twice. The manager was very unhelpful and refused to handle correctly and give us the refund for the tip on the card. He stated they couldn't adjust the charge on the card or give us a cash refund from their till. Which I know was total BS. Coming from a restaurant management experience. I in fact know that managers can tip out their servers cash from the register during the close out of their checkout receipts. So there was no reason why he couldn't refund us in cash. I strongly do not recommend this place, that have unethical and bad service. read more

This place has the best Indian food I've had however their lack of communication on their online platform was disappointing and made for a negative experience. I placed an online order to pick up at 2:44 pm on Sunday and I get a call from the restaurant half an hour after I placed the order letting me know they do not do take out orders until after 5 pm. This is very disappointing considering this was one of the pick up times available online. I was ordering for a special lunch due to my husband coming back from a trip away from home. When I asked the lady on the phone if there is anyway we they could make an exception due to the inconvenience she refused. I'm just glad I didn't pay ahead of time and chose to pay at the store. I will reconsider whenever choosing to order from here again. read more

When I crave Indian food it needs to be good, and these guys nailed it for us. We have been there during all three owners now. This was the first time since these guys bought it. The Naan bread here is the best I've ever had, worth the trip alone the onion Kulcha was outstanding. We had curry chicken, lamb and goat all were fantastic-I could use my goat with the bones removed though. All the entries were great ----order it more mild than normal, these guy do spice!!! Showed up at 8:20pm. They hustled us to order in 5 minutes since they close at 9pm. Beef and chicken dishes had very little meat and mostly sauce. We brought it to the hostess' attention. She smiled and said: "Monday night cook is not good" and took off. Their electronic payment system didn't send the receipt and they can't reproduce. The person who answered the phone asked me to call later because they were busy. Food quality was less than average or maybe, as the server put it, Monday night cook is not good. read more

Maybe they were short staffed. They took 10 minutes to even say hello, and ask what I waned for dinner. I asked to get more water twice. It took more than 10 minutes to get water. I actually didn't get the chance to eat here. Friday night- my fiancé, daughter, and I were seated almost immediately and served water. Also a water for my little one. We thought, great- someone will be right with us! And we actually already knew what we wanted. We closed our menus for a hint that we were ready and began to look around for a waiter/waitress. There were two on the floor. A man and woman. The man that seated us began cleaning off a table. The woman proceeded to help 2 groups and walk past us about 5 times. Taking another small groups order, taking a payment, taking a receipt, and answering the phone. We sat for 10 mins without being waited on. There was an older couple seated across from us. As we proceeded to get up and leave the gentleman said, "I had to go tell him we were ready to order!" We were baffled and were told "Sorry!" by the waiter and then we heard "What happened?" from the woman that was on the phone- I assumed taking a to go order. All in all, it was not a great experience for us. Might have just been a low staff night, but for a weekend night it was just not acceptable! read more

We go here a couple of times a month. I am slowly working my way through the vegetarian options. Loved everything so far. I really like that I can choose my level of spice - some times of the day I have to be more careful than others and like to keep it milder. I have found that no matter the level - always good. The portions are generous and I always seem to take half home for lunch later in the week. read more

The waitress didn't check on us once to see if we needed anything else (we actually wanted dessert but ended up not ordering because we couldn't get her to come over to our table). Bay Leaf is by far one of the best Indian restaurants in the south metro. The staff was very friendly and attentive, plus the food was out of this world. The dishes were made with fresh ingredients and were rich in flavor. In comparison to other Indian restaurants, you can tell the cooks at Bay Leaf take pride in their craft. We have been to Indian restaurants in this location numerous times under various names and management, but went for the first time under the newest management as Bay Leaf this weekend (March 2017). We had the lunch buffet and i have to say it is easily the best Indian buffet we have ever eaten, even better than prior incarnations in this spot although we enjoyed those too. The variety and number of dishes was excellent and quality of food superior. There were numerous dishes we had never seen before. Hot chai came with the buffet, a real bargain. I think the weekday buffet is a bit less lavish, with fewer dishes, but also a little cheaper. We will be back again. read more

We had been going to this restaurant frequently since it is closer to us. Today, we went there after 9 PM. The server accidentally spilled water all over my crotch (which we disregarded since hey, accidents happen!). So we tried to move to an adjacent table which happened to have 6 seats (we were a party of 4) and the restaurant was only 30% full. A lady, supposedly the manager, rudely told that the table is for 6 and we should go to another table of 4, forget about expressing apology or at the least regret (which would constitute good customer service). So with wet pants, we had to move across our original table. Why didn't we walk away?....Didn't want to drive hungry kids elsewhere. The server did her best, giving a towel and also a complimentary dessert (which we left untouched anyway), but the bad customer interaction from manager was shocking. read more
