But this review is about something bigger than dessert. The strawberry cheesecake here reminds me of my mom. It was her favorite, and it was one of the last desserts I got to share with her. Anytime she wanted a sweet treat, that's what she asked for. Ordering it now keeps me connected to her. This past July, on her 3rd birthday in heaven, I placed an order to celebrate her. The menu only had cherry cheesecake that day, so I wrote a note explaining what the strawberry meant to me. The staff didn't just make it happen, they sent an extra slice of strawberry cheesecake on top of it. That kind of thoughtfulness is rare. The people here have always been this kind. We love everyone who works there, and we're grateful for the small moments of care they've shown our family. Thank you for everything.

I instantly noticed the Knicks championship cupcakes when I walked in. The establishment is relatively small but you can tell that they get great business here. The staff members who I engaged with were pretty nice as well.

Nice little Greek bakery over here in the Ridge and there isn't many out there. Nick will cater to his best at what you need and he's also helped out in trying to make gluten free and low carb options as long as he knows ahead of time. The desserts are nice and fresh and they have so much flavor it's like pampering yourself. Their Prosciutto Bread is my personal favorite -- cubed prosciutto, black pepper, cheese, and incredibly soft fresh bread. It's honestly good enough to be a meal by itself. I recently visited their 5th Avenue location in Bay Ridge, and what makes this spot even better is that it's not just a bread store -- it's a full bakery. The Onion Bread was fantastic, with sweet caramelized onions over soft focaccia. The Olive Bread, made with imported Sicilian black olives, had a great crust outside while staying soft and pillowy inside. Their seeded Semolina Twist is another must, especially warmed up with some butter or good olive oil. The sweets were just as impressive. The cannoli are filled to order, which makes a huge difference -- crispy shell and a delicious creamy filling. The pistachio croissant doughnut was buttery, soft and packed with pistachio cream, while the pistachio Cookie Tart was probably one of the most unique things I tried. The Biscoff Cake was also excellent and definitely worth trying if you're a Biscoff fan. And I can't forget the round focaccia with tomato sauce and onions. Warm that up slightly and it becomes seriously addictive. Il Fornaretto has been a favorite of mine for a long time, and after visiting the Bay Ridge location, I have even more reasons to recommend them. Whether you visit Bensonhurst strictly for the bread or Bay Ridge for the full bakery experience, this is absolutely a place worth checking out.
