Just want to say how wonderful and helpful Gabe is! As a new homeowner, I had no clue what to do when our oven started beeping a couple days before Christmas. I called Gabe who asked me some questions and diagnosed the oven as probably needing the control panel replaced because it was both triggering the oven to start and alerting us that the oven was triggered to start without any interaction with the control panel. Gabe took the model number down and gave me a quote over the phone as well as walked me through how to disconnect the oven and still be able to use the stovetop and lights that were connected to the same electrical panel. Given the price for the replacement control panel, it ended up not being worth it to me to fix the oven and I ordered a new one. Even though I didn't end up hiring Gabe he was super patient, helpful and informative and I won't hesitate to call him if I need stove or oven help in the future! read more

How many people can say that Bay Stoves saved their marriage? I can! I'm one of those people who cannot pass up a good deal even if it's a crazy. I had just purchased my home and knew that I would need a new stove and refrigerator eventually. I was talking to my coworker who said the neighbor across the street was selling a set and that I should take a look at it. It was a professional stove and matching refrigerator. I looked at the stove and turned on all the burners and they worked perfectly. The neighbor asked for cash and I talked him down since I had to get professionals to move it. I had it stored in my in-laws for 3 years while my house was being worked on. Come moving day I had the stove moved, and gas plugged in, and it didn't work(WTF). I did what any yelper would do and turned to yelp. I called Gabe and he came out the next week. He looked at my stove and told me that I had purchased a liquid propane stove and that they did not have a conversion kit for it! It would be my luck to buy something like that... I was already getting the evil eye when it was in the garage and now with it not working would be cause for jokes for the rest of my life. Gabe was wonderful. Found and fixed a very rare issue on my gas stove (gas leak) that another technician couldn't find. He knows stoves in and out, and is the type that don't sleep well at night if he doesn't fix your stove. He will do everything he can to make sure you don't buy a new stove if you don't absolutely have to. What I like most is his business model - charged by the hour (vs a diagnostics fee + flat repair fee). This incentivizes him to carefully diagnose the issue and take the time he needs to fix it right the first time. Flat fee incentives the technician to come and go as fast as they can, usually involves buying new parts rather you need it or not. Cost wise it works out to be the same, but I am much more confident with Gabe than any other technician/contractor/handyman I have encountered in my recent memory. He is going to be on my speed dial for all future stove issues - rather he likes it or not ;) Cannot recommend him highly enough. read more

Gabe is amazing! He knows his stuff. I was sure my commercial Wolfe range was going to have to be replaced. The burners were too high and really did not function properly, the oven would not heat correctly, the oven door would spring back unless you held it down. And worse of all the burners were leaking gas. I thought it was well past its prime. Gabe came out, got everything calibrated and cleaned, repositioned the oven door, explained how the stove worked. And best news of all, made me aware that this stove will go on for a very long time. And it now is the best stove I have ever had. Cooking last night was a dream. He really is the best. I have to say that Gabe deserves his stellar reviews. I have a circa-1974 GE oven that wasn't warming as well as I thought it should. I called GE Repair, but it's too old for them, so they recommended a local appliance dealer who sent out a tech. He freaked out when he saw it, misdiagnosed the problem and tried to scare me into buying a new oven. After spending lots of time trying to find parts that don't exist and that (as it turns out) I didn't need anyway, I contacted Gabe. He came out, spent an hour looking at it (his minimum service call, if I remember correctly), and gave me tips on keeping the oven working. He even passed up the opportunity to sell me a new controller I didn't need--the knob is wearing, not the switch itself. A very pleasant, professional guy. read more

I have had the occassion over the past 15 years to use other stove repair or renovation services. I can most whole heartedly state that Bay Stoves, and Gabe have been not only a tremendous pleasure to deal with, but that Gabe did a great job of getting my Garland residential gas stove back up and running! In my case I had stove top boil over several times which had swamped the electrical ignition unit so that the auto ignition did not work. Gabe was on time, called ahead to let me know he was on the way. He was friendly and professional on arrival, and got immediately to work on the problem. Because we had talked when I made the service appointment, he already had the replacement part with him, and was ready to go. There were two different after market parts that would work to repair my stove...Gabe chose the more cost-effective unit which saved me a couple hundred dollars. I would use him again in a heart beat if I need any further stove repair, and I HIGHLY recommend Gabe, and Bay Stoves! BTW, I coordinated his visit with a service call for one of my neighbors on the block, so we both got our stoves repaired by Gabe on the same day...and...in conferring after the visits, we both agreed that Gabe was a great guy, and did a fantastic job. Wedgewood gas/wood stove. Our stove oven didn't work properly because the door was screwed up. One burner required being lit by a match. Another burner didn't work at all. Bay Stove came to the house. He phoned 20 minutes before to confirm the appointment. He spent one hour fixing the stove. He charged $150. Gabe repaired my old Youngtown Visualite wall oven when no one else could. The parts are no longer available and if they are, they are not guaranteed. Gabe was able to figure out how to make it work again. This saved me from having to buy a new wall oven which would also involve carpentry work since the new ovens does not come in the same size. We were having a problem with our Wedgewood stove. The burners were working fine but the oven wouldn't turn on despite the visible pilot light. Terrific service! Gabe fixed and tuned up our 1930s Chambers oven. He calibrated the ovens and cleaned a malfunctioning burner that had become clogged from a spill (and wouldn't light). He also got one of the ovens working because it turns out it needed to have a minimum flame set. He was very personable and offered other advice, like on how to keep the stove clean. I have a 1930s wedgewood stove that developed a small gas leak and had burners that weren't lighting properly. Gabe fixed the burners, solved the gas leak, and tweaked all the valves to make sure the stove was in optimal shape. He charged me $180 and was very courteous. The oven on our stove from the fifties blew up, so I went online & was told by everyone my stove was too old to fix because even if you could find the parts, they'd be very expensive; they said the best thing to do was to buy a new stove. During this time, I contacted Gabe on his website with an email, explaining what the situation was. After I had contacted all the other people and was in the process of looking for a new stove, Gabe replied to me that he specialized in old stoves and had the parts. I called him back, talk to him for a couple of minutes and realized he knew what he was doing; I made an appointment. I was completely surprised when he showed up two hours before the scheduled time.
