Oh Bayhill VB, I could not never pho-get you. Your P1 combination is burned in my brain like your Sriracha burns my tongue (d'oh!). On cold, rainy days there is nothing like their Pho. I let my nose lead me places sometimes and this place always smelled so good!! My visit exceeded all of my expectations. I'm new to the area coming from mountain time and eastern time and this pho was one of the best bowls I've had in my life. The steak bahn mi was fresh and delicious as well, so flavorful and generous with meat, although I wish it had more veggies. It's an excellent value. The tofu spring rolls with peanut sauce were also full of flavor, and even the Thai iced tea was delicious. Their water is flavored with lemon (great plus) and I can't wait to come back and try more of this fresh delicious pho! Didn't get pictures of the entrees because we ate it so fast! The thai tea is like $6 for all ice, not worth it. They charge for hot tea. The service is slow even though this place is empty all the time. Their beef with rice is chewy and not flavorful. Their eggrolls taste like mush and nothing of quality inside. I highly doubt with all the restaurants closing this place will stay in business. Adding this place to the list for allergy safe places. I called in to order the P3 Brisket beef pho and P6 Chicken Pho for my wife and daughter to share. When I called an asked about allergies, I can appreciate how the girl who answered the phone gave it to someone who could answer my questions about food allergies. Tried Bay Hill Vietnamese Bistro recently. The pho was decently tasty--especially the rare steak, which had good flavor--but the portions were on the smaller side compared to chain places like Pho Hoa. They only offer one size for pho, and at $18.50 after tax, it's definitely pricier. You also don't get a lot of vegetables with your pho, though they did give me extra cilantro for free when I asked. Extra noodles was $4.50! They have other menu options too, including cold vermicelli, rice plates, banh mi, and drinks like Thai iced tea. The ambiance is actually pretty nice. There's a central area designed to look like a house, and it wasn't crowded at all on a Saturday evening. The waiter was friendly and even gave us hot water for no charge. One downside there was the music--it was a bit loud with heavy bass, which gave me a bit of a headache. Overall, it's an okay spot, but I think there are better values elsewhere. For similar taste and larger portions, I'd probably just stick with Pho Hoa (obviously there are better pho places out there especially in SJ). Plenty of parking since it's in a plaza. read more

Came to try this place after noticing it while ordering Korean Fried Chicken next door. It's in the strip mall next to 280 on San Bruno Ave. Place is huge, a little dark, and I haven't seen it being crowded ever. Do note that they are closed on Sunday which is really weird for most Asian restaurant. The food is decent but nothing special. Don't think the soup is from actual bone soup but with the price I don't expect them to. They however gives you a lot of meat for the price. I feel like I got a decent deal. Service is also good. I've only eaten there once, and I ordered food for pickup once. Both times I ordered the Curry Chicken Soup with rice noodles. Both times the soup was DELICIOUS! For the to-go order, I only wish there was more soup. I think, next time I'll request extra soup. The server was welcoming and nice when I ate at the restaurant. The person who helped me with the to-go order was also friendly. The ambiance is very casual and spacious. The furnishings is dated. I've been going to this spot since the 90's when it was a Hobee's. It still has the same layout and the gazebo in the center. It has more of a casual cafe vibe versus a fancier VietNamese restaurant vibe. The server will leave the check at the table after you tell them you're done. There are signs on the walls to remind customers to pay at the cash register, which is located towards the back of the restaurant. Been going here for last 20 plus years. Their pho soup is excellent. I usually order a large and take soup home for quick meal add in some pho noodles. I guess I don't check menu price as all the other pho restaurants charge a few dollars more. I would rate this as one of my favorite pho places around the area if I don't want to drive into the city or down to South Bay. Their pho is on the pricier side with one size. They do have the combo pho but other than that, they don't have a long list of pho to choose from. My boyfriend had mentioned their take out is also reasonably big. Their serving is just one size bowl which is similar to Large size content in Westlake's Pho Huynh Hiep. Seafood focused mainly on prawns vs other seafood being main parts of an ingredients and none on artificial crab meat and calamari. Their combination was mostly on lean thin meat , not much mo meatballs and yet - rich and savory. Their bun sandwiches are a great try (1 order for 2 sandwiches). Spring rolls though is less than (4 slices) compared to 6 at Pho Huynh Hiep - this one was just a- okay. Over- all, good one to try. The place is clean. In the sense that the noodles were overloadingore than 2/3 of the bowl plus a good chunk of really well seasoned port belly slices. I think the portions of the both ingredient was kinda unbalanced. The pho had really nice broth with cilantro and basil. But then the steak is absolutely too much fat. You can see in the pic that the pieces are all tangled with fat, maybe a bit too much. They separated the soup from the noodles and accompaniments which was great. I did microwave the soup when I got home. The container was marked as microwave safe so I just used that. I liked the flavor of the soup. It's mild but still has that distinct pho taste that I like. I threw in some basil and jalapeño peppers. The noodles were of a good consistency and they give you a fair amount. I thought it could have used a tad bit more meat but it was okay. I would happily order pho again the next time I go. So I've lived in San Bruno for over 10 years and tried BVB once before over 5 years ago, and was very underwhelmed. My wife suggested we give it another shot and to my surprise, it was really good. I got the combination beef Pho and wow. I was very impressed by the broth. Clear and depth of flavor. Good portions of noodles and beef. My wife got the same and she was equally impressed. My daughter got the chicken Pho and really enjoyed it as well again, very flavorful broth. This place is way better than Ben Tre and the best pho outside of the Tenderloin in SF. In October, I went to this place 15+ times. No lies. 5x this week. What sets them apart is their broth. Not salty, not filling, and very flavorful. Pretty much the only place where I can finish all broth. Try this - after you order (mine is combo pho and pork spring rolls is my new go-to due to the fresh and crunch filling), ask for a bowl of raw onions with vinegar. Before taking bites of your pho, eat some vinegar drenched onions that topped off with sauce of your choice. Typing this as I jus finished. My sauce is lime, soy sauxe, and siracha. *chef's kiss.
