I really love their Bbq pork Bun with Imperial rolls. The pork is cooked well, maybe slightly overdone but very enjoyable. Imperal rolls have good flavor and come fresh and crispy. I've also had their pho, and it's just okay. I would try their other items instead. Ambiance is your typical mom and pop Asian shop. My utensils and plates were very clean though. The bun and rice plates are way better than anything else in Millbrae and the surrounding cities. Definitely give it a try if you want some good no frills food. Makes a great, quick lunch. read more

We started with a Combination Appetizer which, among other things, included minced shrimp on sugarcane, but I was only after the imperial rolls. Tasty pork filling in a sufficiently-bubbly wrapping. The soup in my Pho Ga had as much flavor as you'd expect from a clear broth. It had a hint of garlic & onion, I added an obscene amount of lime & sriracha to enhance the taste. A solid bowl with white chicken breast & slightly al dente noodles but the pho restaurants I frequent have more complexity to its broth. Stopped here for lunch since I was craving soup. I always go for bun no hue (bbh) as it's one of my favorite things to eat after a night of drinks. It's a great hangover cure. I started with the imperial egg rolls. I'll say, these were delicious, huge portion, and very affordable. These were the highlight of the meal. The egg rolls were very crispy and flavorful. As for the bbh, I wasn't a fan. It wasn't the traditional version I typically get at other Vietnamese restaurants. It didn't have the pork feet or pork blood. The broth was good but everything else was meh. I don't expect too much for service or ambiance at a pho shop. This one however stood out where the service was pretty bad. We used to come eat here a lot. I'm not sure why we stopped but decided to try take out. Seems like quality has gone down so I'd be very particular about what I order the next time. Most of everything was pretty overcooked/dry but some of the meats had really good flavor. Even the rice was super dry. I would say stick to the grilled meats like the grilled beef and the pork chops. The egg rolls were also delicious. Do not get the lemongrass chicken. Didn't taste anything like lemongrass and was super dry. We also got a braised catfish which was alright but missed that sweet tang Vietnamese braised meats usually have. The five spice chicken was also alright, needed more umami. Overall, you can consider trying this place but I don't know that I necessarily would come back. read more

Years ago, back when one of our family friends put Le Petite Camille on my radar for the very first time, I remember hearing pretty good things about this place. Nothing to the level that would suggest the food was amazing, but certainly that it was pretty good. In the years since, though? I haven't heard much of anything, other than those same relatives mentioning that the food here isn't as impressive as it used to be. Which, oddly, isn't the worst thing because now that I've been here myself, I might have started to question their tastebuds! Even though my go-to spot for pho in Millbrae, Ben Tre, is right across the street, we opted to come here instead both of curiosity and sheer convenience (love that they have their own parking lot). Inside, the restaurant is surprisingly big and even have a couple of long tables for larger groups. As for the menu, it's family-style, with a lot of dishes to be shared, but it didn't see as extensive as I would've guessed. That said, it could be just because they only have a few types of pho to choose from, as it actually has a wide variety of offerings - appetizers, spring rolls, salads, wraps, banh mi, soups/noodle soups, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, stir fried noodles, and a bunch of claypots, entrees, and vegetarian dishes. -- (#1) IMPERIAL ROLLS (Cha Gio) - Deep Fried Rolls with Minced Pork, Carrots, Taro, and Onion...$11 This looked fantastic on the plate, but the imperial rolls were a little uneven. On the plus side, the overall dish is generous in size and the filling was decently flavorful. However, the rolls were barely crisp, let alone crispy, and were actually quite oily. -- (#5) MINCED SHRIMP ON SUGARCANE (Banh Hoi Chao Tom) Served with Lettuce, Vermicelli Noodles, Pickles, Cilantro, and Peanut Sauce or Fish Sauce...$18 To be fair, I've probably been spoiled by the one that my friend's mom makes, but this fell short for me. While I appreciated all of the sides to make lettuce wraps, the shrimp itself was underwhelming - not all that hot, not much char/crispiness to it, and not all that flavorful. -- (#24-C) SPECIAL COMBINATION BEEF NOODLE SOUP (Pho Xe Lua) with Beef Slices, Beef Balls, Tendon, and Tripe...$17 Not bad, but hardly special. I liked that the noodles had a nice bite and that the noodle-to-meat ratio favored the latter. However, despite how it had a decent body to it, the broth didn't have as strong of a beefy flavor as I would've liked. -- (#73) SPECIAL COMBINATION CLAYPOT (Com Tay Cam) - Stir-fried Green Onions, Ginger, Shrimp, Chicken, and Chinese Sausage with Special House Sauce on Jasmine Rice...$16 I was pretty excited for this one, but it was a disappointment. Mainly, it's not a true claypot - it's closer to a rice bowl, as the rice wasn't infused with flavors nor did it develop a crust. The portion also felt a bit light, particularly on chicken, but it did have a lot of sausage. With regards to service, a few of my fellow Yelpers have mentioned that it can move a little slow, but I can't say we ran into the same problem. Almost as soon as we walked in, a worker greeted us, walked us to our table, and then came back about five minutes later to take our order. In fact, we actually had the opposite problem, as our dishes came out suspiciously fast. It makes perfect sense that our pho came out so quickly, but there's no way our claypot would've arrived right after that if they had cooked everything together. However, it would if they just scooped in pre-cooked white rice into a heated claypot and then topped it off. Given how the majority of what they have to offer are family-style dishes, it's entirely possible, if not likely, that we just didn't order the best that Le Petite Camile is known for. In time, perhaps I'll end up coming back again to find out but until then, I can't say anything that I've tried thus far sparks an overwhelming desire to do so. read more

This restaurant has sadly gone downhill. The food is mediocre at best. My chicken pho broth lacked any real flavor, and the chicken was pretty tough. The stir fry vegetables were standard. Meanwhile, prices are above average and definitely more than I would pay for what I'm getting. To top it off, our server was sullen and bordered on rude. The setting is old and dingy. I ordered the lemon grass beef, it was very tough and had no seasoning, I would give the food a 1/5. The restaurant was filthy and had an odor cigarette smoke coming from the staff at the kitchen door. The atmosphere was of a worn out restaurant in desperate need of a cleaning, even the bathroom were filthy. The staff was inattentive and worse seemed to have no regard for being sanitary, my waitress wore latex gloves to the kitchen, to read her phone, and roamed all over with out changing her gloves or washing g her hands. La Petite Camille needs to make a major turn around or sell the space to an owner that cares. read more

I also ordered the Vietnamese pot stickers, which are totally unlike Chinese ones. They're largish balls of meat and rice, fried in the same panko breading as the catfish, so it was something of a mistake to order both in the same meal. Came here on a Wednesday at about 6:30pm for dinner with some Friends. Place was rather empty with only two other tables, but it was still early. By 7pm, the place was almost full. Eating area was clean and tidy. There are only two restrooms but they were clean. Service was quick, servers were helpful and friendly. This was our first time there and we had plenty of questions. Food was on par with other Vietnamese restaurants we've tried. Everything was fresh and delicious. The fish sauce was tasty with the right amount of sweetness and tartness. It has been years since we've last visited and it is so so wonderful to find out that the food was still as delicious as I remembered! The imperial rolls were my number one dish here and it did not disappoint at all! By far was still the best I had ever. It was so good I pretty much devoured the entire plate myself. The Saigon style BBQ pork chops were very good and tender. We tried the beef stew soup with a side of French bread banh mi. The portion was not really a sharable dish but it was very tasty! Unfortunately, we had to refrain from over ordering, so... an excuse to come back next time for our other faves. The place looked exactly like how it was ages ago which felt like time stood still. A little facelift definitely wouldn't hurt. Service was good. Our server was a bit staid in the beginning, but warmed up at the end and was actually friendly. Normally, I am not a pho person. Normally, I get bun with imperial rolls and protein because normally, i am boring. But weirdly, this is the only place I haven't actually gotten the bun yet because I keep ordering the pho. I was in the mood for pho one day and went here for the pho and enjoyed it so much I went back the next day lol, which is pretty unheard of for me since I don't normally repeat the same restaurant let alone the same order two days in a row. The fresh spring rolls are delicious and overflowing with lettuce and noodles. I also got the garlic noodles with veg and they were saucey but good. You could really taste the fish sauce in this one. Is their service the best? No. Is it what I would expect for an asian restaurant with this vibe? Yes. That's why I'm giving it a 5 and not a 4 lol. Takeout was also ridiculously fast. La Petite is always a solid tried-and-true place to eat at - especially for a goodbye dinner when someone's flying out of SFO. I honestly get the same thing every time and have no regrets (or shame) about it. The #38 Camille's BBQ chicken (which is not the #39 five-spice chicken). I know some people prefer the five-spice, and that's of course fine - but I just find that Camille's BBQ is just tastier (and honestly, when those five-spice people try the BBQ chicken, they switch over). Regardless, the BBQ chicken (usually I get with rice) is just a great dish, low risk, high reward, super consistent. Notably, the Imperial Rolls here are also outstanding - I think there's maybe one other place in Chinatown that's comparable but it's also far in Chinatown, and I'd imagine most of us are Peninsula-folk right? :) Overall, La Petite is a great Millbrae establishment, and I hope it continues to exist! :) read more

My first visit to this Vietnamese restaurant since I was in the area. I forgot to take photos of the actual plate I ordered but was able to snap a few of the menu. I got the vermicelli with pork and imperial rolls. I like that it was a good mix of veggies, meat and the imperial rolls with a decent amount of sauce. The sauce was flavorful, veggies plentiful and a good serving of protein. I think they skimped a bit of the rice noodles, so just a bit more of it would've been perfect. Otherwise, it was a good dish. The service was really good, friendly, and fast. The interior of the restaurant appears clean, menu wasn't a tattered mess, and the sauces were all covered in their respective lids. They also having their own little parking lot. Rating would've been a bit higher if their prices weren't too steep for the portions, but it is Millbrae. Would I come back if I were in the area again? Every time I come to Millbrae, my standards for food drop considerably because the options here are just average at best and Millbrae doesn't compete with the rest of San Mateo County. I haven't gone to La Petite Camille in a very long time, but there's a reason for that. This restaurant has been part of Millbrae for a very long time, but this place has remained the same since and the interior is extremely outdated. It is not the cleanest. The saving grace for this place is really the lady working there being very nice and hospital with the other customers as well. Customer service is great, but that's only a third of the experience. The food and ambiance is lacking big time. What I Ordered: - Bánh mì with Five Spice Chicken ($8.50) - Imperial Rolls Cha Gio ($11) The price of Imperial Rolls are a bit steep considering the itty bitty size of them, but they give heaps of Vermicelli and lettuce plus pickled carrots/daikon. The Imperial Rolls were a little oily, but and a bit saltier than I would like although wrapping them in lettuce and the other ingredients plus the fish sauce helps with that. 5/10 The Bánh mì I ordered here is certainly one of the Bánh mì's of all time. Maybe that's a generous title because to be completely honest this was not great. It was dryyyyyy. They just slightly buttered the bread like they were rationing and there was no sauce whatsoever. The filling was a bit of a mess and they are inconsistent with portions. There was barely any pickled carrots and daikons. The chicken was okay, but definitely lacked seasoning. It was more like Zero Spice Chicken. The bread wasn't toasted enough and the sandwich overall was a 3/10 for me. It was a rainy Sunday afternoon, and a bowl of pho sounded perfect. Driving down El Camino I realized that I hadn't eaten here in years, so decided to give it a go. I went with the beef pho and it was a pretty solid bowl. The broth was tasty, the toppings could've been a little bit more, but the meat was tasty and the noodles were cooked perfectly with a good mouthfeel and chew. It's a solid bowl, and satisfied a craving. I also got an order of imperial rolls because I have to whenever I see it on the menu. These were definitely tasty, although I wish they were crispier. Wrapping them in lettuce and adding the carrots, noodles, then dipping it into the fish sauce is the way to go. I crushed an order to myself and after the entire bowl of pho was pretty stuffed. Price was it was just over $30 for lunch for myself. If you are looking for a budget friendly meal, they do offer banh Mis for under $10. Parking wise, they have a small lot with prolly 10 parking spots. It's a little tight for big cars but there's plenty of parking on El Camino. read more
