Came here for dinner and had a good experience. Waitress is friendly and served us in a timely manner. The food was delicious and simple. The ambiance is casual with an open floor plan. I will return and recommend.

YELPERS - IF THIS HELPS YOU DECIDE IF YOU WANT TO EAT HERE OR NOT, 99% OF THE 1 & 2 STAR REVIEWS ARE FROM 8 MONTHS+ AGO. The new owners (Eddy & Apple) took over this restaurant about 7 months ago. We arrived for an early lunch. Walking into the restaurant at 11:30 a.m., the first thing I noticed was - this place is really clean! I mean, it's really clean unlike some Chinese restaurants in San Francisco that have greasy floors or carpets. The server was soooooo sweet that I had to ask her what her name was so I could address her properly. "My name is Apple." I asked, "green or red?" We soon found out later that her husband Eddy is the cook. Love supporting small businesses. That's my yelp thing. The menu is extensive. We were so indecisive because it was just the two of us, so we asked Apple for some recommendations. We had 3 different proteins...spicy basil chicken, pumpkin curry with shrimp and something new pad woon sen beef. Apple asked, "How spicy?" We said, "spicy!: Apple asks, "Thai spicy or American spicy?" "THAI SPICY!!!" All dishes came out hot off the wok and were absolutely delicious. It really tasted like home cooking. We were too stuffed for dessert, but we DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK. P.S. - There is meter parking on San Mateo Avenue now. $1.50/hr which is a steal compared to SF. Apple said, "next time you come, there are a few free spots behind the restaurant."

My friends and I were specifically craving Thai food so we decided to give this place a shot and we weren't disappointed! We came here for dinner on a Friday night around 6:30pm and were seated immediately. We shared the fried corn cakes, pad see-ew with pork, and yellow curry. Everything was delicious and pretty standard, no complaints here. I appreciated the friendly and prompt service - our water glasses were always quickly refilled and the staff made sure to check in on us every now and then. Overall, a solid place for a casual dinner with friends and decent, no frills Thai food.

This place consistently keeps its five star service, food quality and superior taste through the years. Man and Nina continue to keep up with the demands of their clientele. This remains a family owned neighborhood Thai restaurant well-loved by many. Their Thai iced tea is like no other. The Catfish Salad (which we order less spicy) is so refreshing. The Shrimp Suit, Beef Jerky, and Spicy Angel Wings, are our top choices to share. Another fave that we've asked Man to create for us is Lettuce Wrap. Go check them out. I am pretty sure you will find a dish in their menu to satisfy your cravings.

We came here last Saturday night to hanging with friends in the city after the Lafayette Red Wine festival, decided to try this place out. It's a small place, and has only one server in the front, she was able to manage the flow, no complaints. Foods were good, the portions of dishes on the small side. **Fried Tofu were so crispy and delicious, we've finished them quick and reorder another one. -chicken satays are standard, tasty with the dipping sauce. -fried corn cake: my friend highly recommended but it's not my taste. -duck curry were good, but not as good as expected, curry is kind of watery, same as the pumpkin curry we ordered too. Cuz every restaurant has different cooking style, no complaints -chicken wings were good Easy street parking.

First off, this is legit Thai food. I was pleasantly surprised…read more Secondly, I don't like potato in my curry or mild Thai food(yellow curry) and I don't like peanut butter or Pad thai so this is just a review of Spicy Pork Green Curry. (Kaeng kiew wan) It's good curry. I am very picky and have given up on finding many decent curries these days. If you are a yelper that has ever said, "I ordered mild and it was too spicy", you ruined alot of good restaurants for me. Poor folks became petrified to cook like the home country anymore. I've had to beg and have deep sociological discussions just to get spicy food. I've even offered to sign a waiver If you left a bad review because you said "I like it spicy" and then your face got burned off and you're feelings were hurt, we can never be friends. If I had to pick at the curry I had tonight, the pork could have been fresher and it was just a tad too sweet. Other than that I would call it a perfect green curry.(which I seldom say these days) What got me to even try this place was the pictures on yelp showing eggplant in the green curry. It was done perfectly. I've asked for spicy in the past at other restaurants and they would simply add more curry paste, wrong answer! This changes the whole flavor profile. They didn't have a fresh chili in the whole place.(just some soaked in fish sauce) This curry had fresh thai chilies, kefir lime leaf, purple basil and just red bell pepper and eggplant. Perfect. The best curry I've ever had had fresh bamboo shoots in it but it is not Berkeley in the 90's any longer. Keep your canned shoots out of my curry. And if I have a choice of eggplant over zucchini, I'm there! They gave me some thai style crushed dry red pepper too which I have come accustomed to even when there are fresh chilies present. This curry didn't burn my face off but they did take me seriously(over the phone no less) and so I will definitely return. I hope they serve Larb as well and Pad Kra Pao. This could be the start of a beautiful relationship

Customary at most Vietnamese restaurants, you get your food with minimal check ins and not even a plate clearing until the bill comes. This was NOT the case here. There service was definitely in the A/A+ range! I ordered on my phone via QR code, but there was an option to order in person from a server. I ordered many items to try out. I ordered spring rolls, crispy salt and pepper wings, grilled pork banh mi, beef dac beit pho, and a Thai iced tea. Thai Iced Tea was pretty good. Grade: A I thought the Spring Rolls were decent, but what made them even better was the peanut sauce! I always hate when the peanut sauce is watery and this was far from that! An excellent gooey peanut sauce and maybe one of the best I've had fpr consistency. Grade: A- Crispy salt and pepper wings definitely had an incredible crunch. They were up there in crunchiness. The drumettes were meaty which I appreciated. They were well seasoned also. I think I need to try their other wings before crowning these, but some of the cruncheist wings I've had for sure. Grade: A- Beef Dac Biet Pho had some real high quality meat in it. I had options in noodle and my go-to for any pho spot is the egg noodles. I wish it had more bo vien in it, but I appreciated the combo of meats. The broth seemed authentic, but I wanted a tad more flavor out of it without adding sauces. Overall, the pho grade was a B+ bordering an A-. The star of the show was the grilled pork banh mi. The meat was tender and saucy. In fairness I asked for extra pickles and mayo, but I was very impressed. The bread had the crispy crunch we all look for but minus the stale bread. The breads soft yet crispness made it seem as if it just came out of the oven! I'm going to dub this as the best I've had in the Bay Area! There I said it! Grade: A+ Everyone who ordered the sampler seemed very pleased at other tables, I would definitely try that. Also, want to try the other banh mis and noodle options for the pho. There was a nice vibe at this place. I didn't feel rushed although they do close fairly early at 8pm. The server's mom is the one cooking in the kitchen and I appreciated the family feeling at this place. They do have a newer location in San Francisco that has a DJ Friday nights that I may check out. I believe the server said that they are open til 2am on most nights, but I may have misheard her. Feel free to Yelp that location. My only disappointment was that I really love papaya salad and it was not an option. I may make this my go-to spot from now on, but as a Yelper, we all know we will keep trying new places. This will be the one I continue to frequent. Well done Pho de Nguyen!

This is the first Vietnamese restaurant I've been to that offered a standard bowl of pho (combo) for over $20. I still remember, long, long time ago, when I could have gotten a bowl of pho $7.95. As expected. The garlic noodles with pork was quite tasty and enjoyable. The egg rolls knocked it out of the park. Parking can be a pain in the butt. Exclusively street parking. The food was exceptional--the taro fry, Tom Kha soup, fried rice, everything we tried tasted fresh and delicious. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming. Around 11 PM, an elderly gentleman was taking our order and personally serving us. When we started ordering more items, instead of simply taking the order, he came to us and genuinely said it would be too much food and might go to waste. He guided us on what and how much to order. That honesty itself impressed us. He was incredibly kind to our kids and even brought them dessert, which they loved. When we asked to add it to our bill, he refused. Later, we spoke with him and learned that he is Mr. Punsak, the owner, around 80 years old, who has been running this restaurant for nearly 35 years. Then he shared something that completely changed the evening for us. He told us that his landlord has informed him that his lease will not be renewed after September 1, 2026, leaving him with no option but to close the restaurant he has dedicated more than three decades of his life to. You could see how much this place means to him. What touched us even more was hearing him say that after the restaurant closes, he plans to drive Uber because he still wants to work and doesn't want to sit idle. We couldn't stop thinking about him after we left. Sometimes we wonder why genuinely good-hearted people have to go through such difficult moments. After 35 years of feeding and caring for this community, I hope the community can now show Mr. Punsak some of that same love. If you've been coming here for years--or even if you've never been--please consider visiting Thai Stick before September 1st and supporting this wonderful man. We certainly plan to visit him again.
