    Blackened Shrimp Po Boy sandwich
    Paul W.

Wandering Dunedin and someone suggested Happy's Bayou bites as a place to get a sandwich. Stopped in and had a Shrimp Po boy sandwiches. It was very delicious. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Outdoor seating under the trees and they had a bluegrass(?) band playing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Beans and rice were flavorless, my husband and I both were surprised. Gumbo was good.

Crawfish étouffée & Mac salad. Soooo good!

Dunedin, Fl! Such a fun and delicious lunch at Happy's Bayou Bites We had Shrimp Poboy, Crawfish étouffée, fried oysters with hush puppies & macaroni salad, in a beautiful outdoor setting! Everything was absolutely delicious! I love finding the hidden gems of an area. If you've never been here, I highly recommend it!

Gator sausage bites? Gator tail bites? Yes to both, and both were 10/10!!! We were lucky enough to meet the owner and found this place by chance via Yelp search. If you are near Dunedin or Clearwater, add this as a must-do to try your first, fifth or 100th Gator dish! And, don't forget to grab a Hurricane as well. We will be visiting here again from California!

What a fantastic business. The owners as well as the employees are wonderful. Everyone seems to have a great outlook and really enjoys their work. The food is outstanding. They exclusively specialize in Cajun, low country, FL cracker recipes. In my typical fashion, I had to order several things on the menu. Each thing I ate was delicious. We had the crawfish Etouffee, chicken and sausage Gumbo, boudin balls and red beans & rice. The boudin balls were among the best I've had. I would prefer that the gumbo be a little thicker but the flavor was great. They offer a nice selection of craft beers and a few flavored seltzers. Please note that seating is limited and is only outside. The back country set-up is awesome. I can't wait to come back and try a few other options on the menu.

Good blues, good people, good food, and Abita!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great food, great service, great music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ignore the construction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Worth the effort. Bontemps!

The best poboy I have ever had, get the blackened chicken - amazing macaroni salad and service as well! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very chill environment and great prices[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Happy's Bayou Bites in Dunedin, FL is a taste of New Orleans right in Florida. As a daughter of a New Orleans native, I can say their blackened shrimp poboy and red beans and rice were phenomenal - authentically seasoned and bursting with flavor. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is laid back, and the prices are reasonable. It's the perfect spot for a taste of NOLA without breaking the bank. I'll definitely be back for more!

Omg, this place is the cutest! I could sit here all day. Felt like a complete getaway. The menu was short and sweet but I still had a hard time choosing. I could have sampled everything and after trying this first dish, I will! Ordered the Meatloaf blackened over rice with gravy on top and a side of the tomato cucumber salad. It was so delicious. The salad was so crisp and clean. Whatever herbs they put it it made everything taste so fresh. The meatloaf was better than any meatloaf I've ever had. Getting it blacked gave it a nice crispy crust but it was so moist and full of flavor. I am excited to visit again soon.

Service was great and super attentive. We started with the hush puppies, which were good. Definitely not the best, but they were still good. They came with a side of ranch. Out came the seafood boil, we ordered two one of their standard boils and then I did a customer boil with crab legs and sausage. We both added boiled eggs to ours and went with the mild spice level and Mr. And Mrs. Crab seasoning. They bring out a bib, gloves and a discard bucket when you order the boils. Overall, I thought it was pretty good. Again, not the best I've had but it satisfied our craving. My girlfriend thought it was delicious and was making sure to soak everything up in the sauce, haha. One thing I noticed was the crab was lacking on some of the legs, not as meaty. Not sure what caused that. Also, there was a bit of a funky after taste with the boil that I haven't encounter before. I don't know if it was the seasoning or the sauce. Just my personal opinion and others might think differently. Also, wasn't really a fan of the potatoes or the egg. Just tasted off to me. Overall, we had a good experience. Might return in the future to give it another shot.

On the website they list out parking lots, so I would recommend checking that out. We ended up parking at a parking garage that was a couple minutes walk from the restaurant. Also, pro tip thanks Yelp, they do accept reservations. You have to look on OpenTable, though, I don't feel like I saw it on their website. We were there at 7 PM on Saturday and even without a reservation we would've gotten a table. However, it is on the smaller side if you want to sit inside, they do have a back patio. I saw a reserve sign on our table, so they definitely honor Reservations. I got hogarita which is their version of a margarita. It was good. My husband got an old-fashioned and liked it. The food is where this place really shines. I got hogfish grilled with their veggie of the day and key lime slaw. My husband got their salmon grilled with veggie of the day and hush puppies. The hush puppies are exceptional. I usually avoid carbs and I'm sure this one is really bad for you, but it was absolutely delicious. My husband, who normally isn't a huge fish eater liked his salmon. We both agreed, though that my hog fish was better. The hog fish was flaky and tender, a very mild tasting fish, but absolutely amazing. 10 out of 10 on this dish. This place is pretty casual, it feels very down to earth with really good food. Service was attentive and quick, we will be back.

The weather wasn't the best and we had some time to kill, so we took the hour-and-a-half drive to St. Pete--and let me tell you, it did NOT disappoint. As soon as we stepped out of the car, the music alone set the tone for good vibes and a welcoming atmosphere. As we approached, there were a few people in line ahead of us, so we took our time looking over the menu. While we were deciding, you could hear the ding of DoorDash orders going off like crazy (definitely a good sign). When it was our turn to order, we were greeted by the owner and mastermind behind it all, Ray. Ray was very personable and outgoing, answering any questions we had and offering great suggestions. He was truly a jack of all trades and handled everything like a rockstar. While we waited, we sat at one of the wooden tables and chatted with other customers, who had nothing but great things to say. There was also a nice selection of drinks, ranging from soda and water to beer and even shots of tequila. To start, we ordered the Loaded Pulled Pork Fries. The pork was extremely tender and juicy, having been perfectly smoked for nine hours. It was served over a plethora of fries and topped with BBQ sauce and their house-made sauce. You definitely couldn't stop at just one bite--but we had to save room for more. First on our list was the famous Rapture Sandwich, which earned a solid five stars across the board. Made with shaved ribeye steak, bacon, pepper jack cheese, and Ubuntu's special house-made sauce on a pretzel bun, the flavors complemented one another perfectly. Unanimously, this was one of the best steak sandwiches we've ever had. Next up were the Garlic Parmesan Chicken Tenders, and OH MY--let me tell you! These tenders were chef's kiss. They were cooked to the perfect crispness, and the sauce was out of this world. I have never tasted garlic parm like this before. Honestly, this was one of my personal favorites. After that, we tried the Take a Bao sandwiches. You can choose between pork or dynamite chicken, and we went with the chicken. The bao buns were like biting into a cloud--they were unbelievably soft. The chicken was marinated flawlessly and topped with cilantro and black sesame seeds. Definitely a go-to item. Ubuntu also offers a variety of vegan options. The Impossible Empanadas were superb--you would never guess they were vegan. They were cooked to a golden brown, crispy, and full of flavor. If I didn't live in another state, I would have ordered one of everything on the menu to take home for everyone to try. I highly recommend making a stop at Ubuntu--trust me, you'll be glad you did. This place is truly off the charts! To the staff at Ubuntu, I wish you continued success and encourage you to keep striving for excellence.

My Brother lives in St Pete and takes our Mom to eat there or calls in for take-out at least 2-3 times per month. We arrived tonight (Thursday) around 7:45 PM to bypass the dinner rush. Walking in to be seated, I noticed several empty tables that had not yet been cleared with several people waiting outside to be seated. I was told "there will be at least a 10-15 minute wait, to give my name, and to wait outside." I thought maybe there were enough people waiting already to take up the empty tables, but that wasn't the case. We sat outside in the cold waiting and watching the guy stand at the bar doing nothing to help bus the empty tables, some of which were right by the window. After 15 minutes or more, we were finally called in last walking by the same uncleared tables, led to another table as the table cloth was being placed on it, no menus, no apology for the extra long (unnecessary) wait outside in the cold. When we finally placed our order, we waited some more. Finally our server said "there was a mix up and our order had not gone through." When Mom's favorite seared salmon finally arrived, it was dry and overcooked. I have never written a bad review on Yelp in my life. But, I hated to see my precious Mom & Brother treated this way. Loyal customers should not be taken for granted.
