Giovanni's came highly recommended, and it didn't disappoint. We enjoyed the Halibut Burrito (generous servings of halibut, cabbage, salsa), grilled fish by the piece (perfect for some added protein), halibut tacos (satisfying and filling), garlic fries (a group favorite). Giovanni's also has a fish market storefront that sells seafood by the pound (Dungeness, oysters, crab claws, crab meat, prawns, poke, ceviche). But lunch and dinner orders are done at the side window and are picked up around the corner. Located on the waterfront in Morro Bay, there is tons of outdoor seating (with umbrellas) with relaxing bay views. Parking can be difficult to find. We eventually found street parking.

I would definitely order again 5/5 2. Fish & Chips: Fresh Pacific cod, lightly breaded, served with house-made tartar sauce. Fish was fried to perfection. 5/5 3. Mocktail Lavender lemonade: definitely not balanced, was pretty tart and again the price point was off. It was about 8oz lemonade for $12 They do offer a nice selection of wines. Restrooms are located outside the restaurant and are public restrooms, pretty dirty and out of stock. Although our service was a big miss, I do recommend the food items we ordered. I did take a star off due to the service.

The order took a long time, which doesn't surprise me since there were lots of folks there, and they might share the kitchen with Giovanni's Fish Marker around the corner. The tater tots were not done, should have been crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, right? The burger was not good, the romaine lettuce was totally cooked. The chicken strips were passable, the fries seemed to be battered but they were too soft after sitting in the to-go container with the lid closed. I probably won't come here again, sorry.

This was my third visit to Tognazzini's Dockside in about three years and my second visit within…read morethe past year. Unfortunately, each visit has felt a little less impressive than the one before it, and this most recent experience was disappointing enough that I probably would not return. Parking is usually easy, and I have never had to walk more than a couple of minutes. There are also a couple of EV spaces nearby. When my girlfriend and I walked inside, the restaurant felt unusually warm, humid, and stuffy. It was uncomfortable enough that we briefly considered leaving. We chose outdoor seating instead, but that comes with its own drawbacks. The tables are exposed to the afternoon sun, pedestrians walk just feet away, vehicles pass close by, and the working dock is nearby, so you hear forklifts, unloading equipment, and active fishing operations throughout the meal. We started with the Oysters Rockefeller, which I have ordered on all three visits. They were good and are honestly one of the main reasons I have continued returning. They are not easy to find where I live, and this version is enjoyable, even if it is not on the level of what I have had in places like New Orleans. My girlfriend ordered the clam chowder with bacon. We have been comparing clam chowders around the Central Coast, and unfortunately this one ranked last among the several we have tried so far. She described it as average and nothing memorable. I ordered the steamer clams, and this was easily the biggest disappointment. The very first clam I ate had noticeable grit in it, and unfortunately that continued through most of the bowl. I would estimate that the majority of the clams had some amount of sand or grit, which made them unpleasant to eat. I also found one clam that remained completely closed after cooking. I left it untouched. At a restaurant specializing in seafood, I expected more careful preparation and inspection. The broth was also surprisingly bland. I ended up adding hot sauce just to give it more flavor. As I worked through the broth, I also noticed three small hairs. I cannot say where they came from, but finding multiple hairs in the same dish was understandably concerning and further reduced my appetite. The service did not help. Our server took our order, delivered drinks and food, and eventually brought the check, but there was very little interaction between those points. No one checked whether we needed anything or asked how the food was going. That was especially frustrating because if someone had checked in, I would have had an opportunity to mention the problems with the clams while I was eating them. Overall, the Oysters Rockefeller were still good, but almost everything else about this visit was disappointing: the uncomfortable indoor environment, noisy outdoor seating, average chowder, gritty clams, bland broth, cleanliness concerns, and minimal service. I have enjoyed this restaurant more in the past, but after this experience, I think there are other places around Morro Bay where I would rather spend my money.

My husband got a seafood omelet and he loved it! It tasted very good and something you can't get everywhere and it's big enough to share a little! Customer service was great, very helpful and attentive. But I think the best part of this restaurant is the view of Morro Bay and Morro Rock. It was so pretty to sit by the window and have such a great view. I like highly recommend this spot for a delicious breakfast or lunch if you are in the area!

My boyfriend and I had a terrible first experience here!!! We were seated right away but had to wait 40 min. for a chicken salad and french dip sandwich!!!! Server had no personality and there were a lot of flies flying around our food! The sandwich was supposed to be hot but it was cold!!! We mentioned it to our server and she took it and we believe microwaved it for a minute! Their prices are too High for the food and service!!! Not going back there again!!!! OK, so listen to this. If you travel in your RV and like to visit Morro Bay, especially Morro Bay State Park this is right up your alley. A great, and I mean great restaurant is within walking distance of your campsite. But wait there's more !! This place is a favorite of locals ( like lucky me ). Then for entrees, I had the special (swordfish, halibut and salmon) perfectly grilled, with their awesome red cabbage side and baked potato, the seafood monster has the seafood linguine with a light Alfredo sauce perfect not too heavy with fresh scallops and fish. And the hubs had the fish and chips- huge flaky juicy fried cod. We ended with the crème brûlée donut with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream- one of the best donuts I've had! Our server Landon was wonderful (thanks for the dessert reco!) and it was great getting to know him. Also great ambiance with views right on the water- and of Morro rock. The waitress provided refills on drinks to most of the table, but not me for some reason (little did she know I was the one writing the yelp review! lol) My partner got the clam chowder and said it was just "okay." She said it was a personal preference thing though because she just doesn't like thick chowder. One other in my party did like the chowder. I got the regular fish and chips and they were quite good. Nice steak fries with it. Unfortunately they only initially provide you with one little cup of ketchup. This came with a side of pineapple coleslaw, which I was really excited about. It was a let down. The pineapple was flavorless and so the slaw just tasted like regular coleslaw, which was fine I guess. The serving sizes of all of the meals our party got were quite large, which is good because of how expensive things were. Overall it was a decent experience, but I don't see myself going back when there are so many other good places nearby.

This is an ode and a love letter to a people and a culture that took what would have been discarded ingredients and made it phenomenal. Most other restaurants in the area only serve this on the weekend and usually reserved for Sunday, but here it is a daily staple and has become my go to dish. The tripe is cooked thoroughly and holds on to the rich flavors of the both with profound care. And the broth is unctuous and rich while steeped in the history of chilies and patience. The tendon when added in gives a greater depth and silkiness that elevates this dish even further. Of course, onion, coriander and oregano gives it the perfect herbaceous notes and balances out the richness with cool notes. This isn't just a soup, this is an experience that one has to have, that one deserves. To taste the food of a people's is to understand their strength, perseverance, their love and ultimately brings you one step closer to a cultural awakening that you didn't know that you needed.
