Arrived to find both handicapped spots taken. Luckily there was a spot on the end open so that I could open my door wide enought to get out without hitting another car with my door!! Cute gift shop, decor with country tchatchkes, doing some minor handiwork during open time - was a bit distracting. Loud with echoes due to concrete floors. Owner overseeing the handiwork and her daughter seems to work here. Lots of loud local conversations heard across the restaurant, including discussions about city council meetings, etc. 3% Credit Card fee not posted in the menu, but rather on the board at the entry. Some people might miss this posting, which is unfortunate. Sat at a small table even though several larger ones were available and no one waiting. Seem to specialize in breakfast, which I have had here before and it was fantastic!! Friendly folks. Bottomless sodas, but they were flat and tasted too syrupy. Could have also been diet even though I ordered regular. Green leaf lettuce so I ordered a salad with my bacon cheeseburger and fries on the side. I appreciate that the server knew it was cheaper to get fries on the side instead of the salad on the side. Fries were seasoned a bit too heavy-handed, the burger was great., bacon cooked perfectly. Server quick to refill soda as I ate my meal. I will probably return here, especially for breakfast, but will pay with cash next time. This is a decent sized restaurant, pretty busy, short wait time for the most part. It's cottage core, relaxed cute spot with a store attached which was nice to pass time while waiting for a table. Service was average, server was def busy running around taking care of many tables but getting us what we needed as soon as feasible. Food itself was just ok. It was fresh but I didn't find it flavorful unfortunately. The chicken fried steak was not a great texture to me. The biscuits were good and so was the gravy. The berry drink was too sweet. Stopped in for breakfast and Carla's Country Kitchen did not disappoint in serving up a hearty and plentiful meal. I ordered their Pork Chops & Eggs. This selection comes with two meaty, good-sized pork chops, two eggs cooked to one's liking, a nice portion of hashbrowns or country potatoes, and toast or their house-made biscuits - a very hearty meal. The quality of the porkchops was superb, the fresh-daily baked biscuits were served warm and oh-so-good! Everything was very good. We also chose their Seafood Omelette, a huge portion served with one's choice of potatoes and toast or biscuit. The omelette was filled with crab, shrimp and cheese, and topped with a tad more cheese. It was well prepared. Stopped in at 10:30 for breakfast on a Saturday morning king and was able to get a table without any wait. Service was prompt and friendly. Loved my pork chop and eggs with hashbrowns. My experience was not as good as it could have been at this restaurant. I showed up with my two service dogs which happened to be chihuahuas. I asked for an indoor seat and the waitress who seated me did not want me to sit indoors and I had to tell her they were my service dogs over and over and tell her I had their paperwork in my pocket and then she made me sit at a tiny little table in a corner away from everybody else while all of the other customers got window seats. The food was mediocre. I had corned beef hash and eggs and red skin potatoes I also came with an English muffin. The price was fair. But the way they discriminated against me was not right and ruined what should have been a wonderful meal for me on my vacation. I did complain to the manager afterwards about how I was treated but I was offered no compensation. If they would have offered me no charge for the meal I might have given them a higher rating. But at this point I probably will not return. read more

Dog friendly, best place to come for breakfast (in my opinion) . They also serve lunch too (after 11pm) but if you're coming for lunch keep in mind that they close at 1:30pm every day. The place is always busy but getting seated is aways prompt. They make the best homemade biscuits and gravy here and serve a variety homemade muffins to choose from that you can get with your breakfast. Anything on the menu and every time you will have a fabulous meal served by amazing humans such as Ms. Sienna who was my delightful waitress who was just great energy and kindness! My go to breakfast wasn't a consideration today after a walk to the Rock. It's been a few years and I thought it was time to review some of the "other" breakfast spots in town. As fate would have it I was seated at the same table as I was the last time I was here. M ordered a Popeye Omelet, I went Western but we subbed fruit for the potatoes and we both swapped our toast for the house-made biscuits. (Parker House) Then I ordered a side of gravy to give the biscuits and gravy a try. The service was fast and as busy as they were our food was out fast too. That usually means its hot outta the kitchen "big points". So lets dig in and have a taste, these were big omelets "piled high" with real ham not a mainly water heavy ham. Green peppers and onions plenty. Omelets no question these are very good both were very good. The fruit was tired, the color was gone from the melon, orange segment were pretty torn up, you get the idea. Gravy and biscuits well actually Gravy and rolls. I was not impressed with the gravy all the looks were there but wheres the flavor, I didn't taste it. Since we're talking taste the coffee was black hot water...uck. And last comment is a Yelp question "How Noisy"- Very noisy, open room, tile floor and lots of customers. Nevertheless I enjoyed my company today and after eating we milled about the infamous Karlas gift shop. Not really Autistic kid friendly, Food was great however we didn't get the friendliest waiter. She was rude and mean. The tables have a glass top thick layer and my toddler daughter tapped the glass with her fork and the waiter scolded her and looked over at us and said that if she breaks the glass it'd come out of our pocket. She basically set the vibe for us after that. She also rushed us to order, we did not tip because of the poor service. The owner daughter was kind and apologetic with the way her waitress was acting. This place made my whole family so happy. The service is friendly and down to earth, the seating option to eat outside while being bathed in the warm sun, and the grub was legit. Just getting the time to share... We visited in November of 2024. Absolutely divine. See photos. The gravy was incredible, exactly how I like it. It didn't have that tacky floury taste that most do. If I could eat at this restaurant every day, I would! I don't usually write reviews like this, but here we are. We decided to give Carla's a try on our last morning in town -- and unfortunately, we regret it. For a business that's been around a long time, the issues we experienced shouldn't exist. We were seated after a short wait, but it took nearly 10 minutes before anyone came by for our drink order, and another 10 before our server attempted to take our food order. Twice she had to stop mid-order because "the kitchen was calling her." On her third try, she finally got it all down. (We overheard her telling the manager about the number of tables she'd been assigned -- clearly, staffing was an issue.) Thirty minutes into our visit, we received muffins, toast, and biscuits with gravy -- all lukewarm. I'm sure they could've been delicious if served hot. Another 10-15 minutes later, just as we were about to leave, our main dishes arrived. One order was wrong (scrambled instead of over-medium eggs), and the rest of the plates had clearly been sitting; once again, the food was lukewarm at best. For first-time visitors, be aware: Carla's automatically adds a 20% tip for parties of six or more. We paid and left quietly, but if the manager had stopped by, we would have gladly shared our experience directly. read more

Literally heartbroken over this bcuz I used to find joy in going to Carla's now I get anxiety thinking of ever going there again. I loved this place until this server and manager. She made the entire restaurant feel cold and unwelcoming. This is a great spot with cozy country vibes. We stopped here for breakfast last month before heading out to start our day. I had the scrambled eggs with bacon and sausage and French toast. Another random Yelp find that I came across when deciding on where to go during a trip to Morro Bay. It was super crowded during our time here so we were kind of neglected a bit when it came to the service but the food was great and when we were getting serviced, the staff was nice and friendly. The pancakes were huge and fluffy, the biscuits were flavorful (that gravy, yum!) but the french toast was just okay. The eggs were my favorite part, I'm such an diner egg girlie and these definitely hit the spot. There's also a shop that's attached on the opposite side of the restaurant and there were so many cool knicknacks and gift options there, even some food items as well. read more
