NO STARS!!! BLOOD ON SHEETS!!! They don't change the sheets. While we were packing up I was checking the bed to make sure we didn't leave anything behind and low n behold....BLOOD ON THE SHEETS!!!! I went to notify front desk and he said "this isn't the first time I've heard that" like are you SERIOUS?!?!? DO NOT COME HERE!!!!

Convenient parking right outside the room

Very budget friendly, beds are super comfy, management handled a request with a smile, you can park right outside of your room. Carpets and sitting chairs could use a deep clean, but other than that, the property is cute and bathroom was spotless. Spacious room, would stay here again!

I stayed one night. There were bed bugs or fleas in my room. I couldn't sleep well at all. I could also hear people taking in the rooms next to mine even they were not loud.

Fridge, microwave, fan, dressers, 6 in total

Not too bad, they offer a microwave & mini refrigerator which is a huge plus I my book! Small showers but it's perfect size for 1 person, and in the restroom the offer MAKEUP WIPES I never seen that yet if u want ice u have to get it in the office. My room didn't have AC and it was HOTT but it did have a fan. It really was better that I expected I definitely recommend this place!

Photo of their rooms. Cozy, feng shui friendly..if you don't want to pay Monterey Plaza prices...This is the place to be!!!

My boyfriend and I have had the pleasure of staying at the Bayside Inn a few times now. Obviously those who have rated this place low were looking for a Hilton but didn't want to pay Hilton prices. For the budgeting person this place is probably one of the BEST places I've stayed at EVER!... And I'm 36 and have stayed at quite a few places being a traveler. The owner, the owners son, and any and all employees I've ran across have been more than accommodating and polite, it honestly moves my heart to see that hotel owners can actually STILL be decent and kind. My boyfriend and I can't be more satisfied for the accommodations. Yes, it's not the Marriott or the Hyatt, we wanted inexpensive and safe and clean. We got it. For the budget we had(have) it was WELL maintained, had free (yes FREE) wifi, clean NON diseased bed....And we usually ALWAYS use our own bedding, when we stay at places. We didn't feel the need to here, and I DON'T have rashes or bites. It's relieving. It comes equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, quiet atmosphere. The owners are continuously out sweeping or cleaning to maintain the curb appeal. And for those who swim....THERE'S A POOL!!! To sum it up..if I could give it 10 stars I would. We wanted cheap...But I tell you...We didn't get treated like that from the staff...We got treated like royalty. For those bad yelpers.....go somewhere else where there's room service and door men. You get what you pay for but; surprisingly....At the BAYSIDE INN....You get SOOOO much more than you pay for incl: clean, safe atmosphere, continental breakfast and coffee, free wifi, a pool, on site parking, and the FRIENDLIEST staff in monterey!!!

A friend and I booked this place for one night extremely last minute because we got free tickets to the Pro Am at Pebble Beach. They let us check in as early as 11AM which was great because that allowed us to taxi to the golf course for the remainder of the day with no worries! The man who runs the place, Neal, is very friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and checking in and out was very easy. But in the end it is what it is. A last minute booking type of motel. The bed is uncomfortable, the room was cold, small and quirky. But it's perfectly fine for a place to rest your head for the evening. The location is also very convenient, right off of the highway, close to the beach, etc.

big gap in door so light and air come into room!

Has this motel changed since I posted this 2 years ago? I would have removed or updated my review if the owners would have made ANY attempt to improve my experience at this establishment. I hope people see this BEFORE they book a room.

We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back!…read moreThe staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!!

No driving needed at all! We opted for valet since it's the same price as self parking, and from the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding. The valet team and front desk staff were all incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful, making check-in smooth and stress free. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the ocean views from our room were a huge highlight. The room was very clean and thoughtfully equipped with everything we needed and more. The fireplace, tub, and private deck really elevated the whole experience. It was also great having a spa and restaurant right on site, adding even more convenience and relaxation to our stay. Overall, this has been one of the best hotel experiences we've had. We visit Monterey Bay often, and we'll definitely be staying here again!

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
