We really loved our stay here! Right off, the person at the front desk was very friendly and even gave us a free upgrade. Complimentary coffee in the lobby and the room, a refrigerator, microwave, and fireplace were nice amenities. Our room even had a distant view of Monterey Bay. The hotel is located less than a mile from Fisherman's Wharf, and we walked there in about 20 minutes. The condition of the room was mostly very good, but the shower head looked like it needed to be replaced and there was about a 5 inch crack in the ceiling over the bathroom sink. We would definitely stay here again on future trips to Monterey. read more

We booked this Motel on accident thinking it was Casa Munras (I'm sure that happens often) Anyhow we arrived and checked in. Our check in process was smooth. We were able to park right in front of our room. The room overall was clean. There was a microwave, single pod coffee maker, and a fridge. The bed wasn't very comfortable and the only pillows provided were the super flimsy feather pillows. (There were 4 of them, but still super thin) They provide a hair dryer (although I usually bring my own) and small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. Aside from the counter top in the vanity area there were many upgrades. The BEST part was the water pressure, which was very good! Overall it was clean enough, but not super quiet. I did find two washclothes in the curtains...not sure if there was a purpose or not...The WiFi was not good whatsoever. And getting in and out of the parking lot when there's a lot of people there can be difficult. For the price of 319/night it was NOT worth it. read more

The hotel was fine. It was one of the less pricy rooms for the Monterey bay half marathon so that was nice. A bit steep but given the event, it's understandable. Booked a room with 2 queen beds and fireplace. Rooms were definitely super spacious. Everything looked good, clean and friendly staff. Free parking is available but can get full if all rooms have been booked (like during race times). You walk into your straight from the parking lot. Surprisingly not a lot of noise or sounds from neighbors, a huge plus! The stay worked just fine for our trip. No breakfast but the office/check-in does have a coffee/hot chocolate machine as well as a small varieties of teas to go. read more

This is a motel. The rooms open to a hallway that is unlocked and opens to the parking lot and street. The carpet is creepy and the air in the room is stale. I'm glad I have my slippers and would not want to walk on the carpet barefoot. The cable is awful, no Netflix or regular tv stations. I would try staying somewhere else next time. There was mold in the shower that they half-cleaned only the next day after I complained. And the cleaning staff came specifically during a time window when I asked them not to. Loud rooms--you can hear every car door and next-door neighbor. Weird lighting. Crappy carpets. To top it all off, the management was extremely rude. Kept interrupting me and trying to talk over me, accusing me of just wanting a refund, when I had made clear I would like at most a partial refund, but more than anything for the complaints to be heard. If this had been a fairly cheap hotel, it would be fine. But they charge a relatively high price and pretend they're a nice place. AVOID! read more

Decent for pricing Rooms in Monterey are quite pricey... we booked it very last minute as our planned changes quite drastically. We got the king bed with the fire place. Having the fire place really made the experience better! Parking is tight but they do provide FREE breakfast from 8-10am. Which was very nice of them. Staff were also so nice AND we were able to see a small snippet of the water from our corner room! The outside of the Inn looked very dicey but the inside wasn't too bad! Quiet at night, comfortable beds (tons of lovely pillows) view of ocean in distance between buildings. Only suggestion: have more drawer space or couple luggage racks. Decent 2 star hotel - we reserved the accessible room which is on the first floor, so the rooms aren't as pretty as the upper floor ones with the vaulted ceilings, but we were still satisfied with the accommodations. Fireplace in the room was a nice touch. Accessible bathroom with roll-in shower was clean, roomy, good shower heads. Drains were a bit mildewy smelling, but that might be normal for the area given how damp everything is. Staff at the front desk was super nice and pleasant. Due to covid, breakfast is in a to-go bag that had a piece of fruit (orange or apple), bag of instant oatmeal and a bowl, and a danish. You also get to pick a bottle of juice. There's a keurig in the room with 4 pods (2 decaf 2 caf) and the lobby had hot chocolate, tea, and more coffee too. Check the fridge in the room - it turned out that ours didn't close all the way, but unfortunately I didn't notice until after a full night so I had a lot of food go bad :(. I did alert the front desk afterward, but I wish I had checked more carefully. Overall decent, good proximity to the touristy areas and to Dennis the Menace playground, though I found it to be a tad expensive for fairly bare bones 2 star. I'd consider staying here again in the future though. read more

It's more like your typical 3.7-3.8 rating for a casual apartment type feeling here. Old buildings. There's room for improvement. Very comfortable place to stay and convenient for walking to downtown Monterey. Low key area. Decent prices with deals that can turn into $90-$110 per night. Quiet parking lot onsite. Free complimentary grab and go Costco/Kirkland type pastries, cereal, fruits, and organic fruit juices/coffee in the tiny lobby daily. Very small lobby, but rooms are generously spacious with cozy fireplace. Everyone minds their own business here and it's not far from the shopping outlets and Cinemark/Century movie theater. Staff was friendly. Only thing I disliked was the hair dryer in our room. It was a 1/5 rating because hair dryer was nearly busted, sticky/dirty to the hands, and not too functional. They really need to replace that thing. Microwave and refrigerator plus cups and coffee maker included were very clean. Bathroom decent with very good water pressure in shower area. Room was unique! Loved the interior. Nice upgraded lights. Closet and bathroom sink were small. We enjoyed the stay because it was very close walking distance to medical appointment offices too. Not bad for staying in Monterey for a few days. Cozy bed and soft clean linens for sure. Fireplace helps in the room. Slept very well here. Very walkable. Enjoyed the stay. read more

This amazing hidden gem boasts grand fireplaces in their tastefully decorated suites and their dedication to excellent customer care was refreshing. Upon arrival I was greeted as though I were family and the gentleman behind the counter happily offered recommendations to local food, attractions and points of interest. I was quite honestly surprised when I opened the door to my suite. The color palette immediately inspired calm and tranquility. The outside of this place isn't very appealing but the inside is great! I stayed at room 33 and it is very spacious, just as how I wanted it. Fireplace worked and the A/C worked. The staff was sweet enough to put flower pedals on our bed for our anniversary! Only thing I wish was that there were a separate switch for the chandelier and it wasn't attached to the rest of the lights. The balcony was too small to even enjoy sitting outside and really dirty, so we skipped that all together even though we booked the pricier room for that reason. The fireplace was nice. Wife and I booked 2 nights at this hotel as part of an anniversary trip. We specifically booked a deluxe king room, because it has a nice layout with fireplace on one wall and 2 chairs to sit in, which we liked in the winter season. Unfortunately, the pictures that are shown here and on the hotel's own website do not match the room that we were placed in. The layout of our room was identical to that of the standard king room, not the deluxe. When we asked, we were told that our room was a 'deluxe' room, despite not matching the photos on the website at all. We were told sometimes the pictures on third party website do not match the rooms (which is no excuse at all), but we showed them the same pictures on the own hotels website. They said that sometimes the room is just different from what is shown and nothing they could do about that, which seems to me just false advertisement. It wasn't just different like a mirror image, or something that didn't make any functional difference. The difference was less chairs/seating, different furniture, and a layout that limits how you can use the space. We asked to swap to a different room and were told there were no more available. We looked on their own website and they showed availability for booking the same room for this night. When we showed them this, suddenly there was another room that was free, but it had the same layout as ours. They said they didn't not have any rooms that matched the photos on their website. We asked to speak to the manager, but they were not willing to talk to us, despite the fact that they were talking on the phone to the person at the front desk. They offered to just cancel the booking, but it was already nighttime, and we didn't feel like hotel hunting last-minute from our car. They did pull an extra chair in from another room (the one that suddenly appeared once we pressed them about it), but due to the layout differences, you couldn't fit it in there properly anyways, so it didn't really help. Overall, extremely disappointed at not only the misrepresentation of their rooms on their website, but how we were constantly given false excuses and tried to be blown off, like how this was just from a 3rd party website, there we no more rooms available, etc., when we could easily show none of this was true. In addition, the fireplace didn't work properly (kept randomly going out), the door lock was broken so you couldn't see when the keycard worked, and the wifi is extremely slow, to the point of almost unusable. The hotel room otherwise was decent. So as long as you just want a clean space to sleep and don't care about working wifi/fireplace and actually getting what you paid for as advertised, you might have a better experience. read more

We stayed here for 3 nights on March 22, 2018. Before we had arrived, I called the day before to ask if I could surprise my fiancè with the rose peddles on the bed since we are newly engaged, no problem they said and no extra charge. I was very happy about that. I asked if we could get an upstairs bedroom since the pictures on Yelp with the high ceilings were beautiful, unfortunately they were all out of the king rooms on the second floor. The day that we arrived I was surprised that they had upgraded our room to a King deluxe without extra charge and it was on the second floor! I was soo happy! The room was beautiful and super clean. We loved the fire place and high ceilings. The bed was pretty comfortable, for someone with a bad back. Mini fridge worked well and so did the fancy microwave. I say this because I been to too many hotel rooms where the mini fridge does not work or is not cold enough. The Inn is about 8 minutes from canary row and close to restaurants and stores down the street. Front desk girl was super sweet, I think her name was Corey. Thank you to the staff who made our stay comfortable while we visited Monterey and accommodating our request. You guys are awesome! read more

A reasonably priced motel not far from key Monterey attractions. Like many motels there are some deferred maintenance issues that if done could improve the place a great deal. They had a very friendly staff. The exterior is closer to a small motel than an inn. To do much better though you have to spend almost $200 more a night. Took a quick impromptu trip to Monterey to go to a concert at Golden State Theater. Didn't want to spend an arm & leg. But somewhere clean, quiet, safe and friendly were a must. Happy we chose Munras Inn. Very friendly welcome with knowledge about the area. Suggested we just do the 10-15 walk to the Theater as parking could be problematic. Even though this is a 2 star motel the rooms were recently renovated. We were a little unhappy with our mattress the first night, so they offered to move us the next night, even offering us to see the other rooms once they were cleaned. We didn't want to hang around so they offered to just move our stuff to another room while we were out for the day. Our new room looked very similar to the old room, maybe a little bigger but the mattress was good. The free breakfast is simple pastries, cereal, coffee/juice/milk and fruit but it was perfect before heading out to Point Lobos. Does this place have an in room spa or sweeping ocean views? No. But we couldn't be happier with the staff. The clean rooms, which had a fireplace, microwave, mini fridge, free parking and shower with fabulous water pressure. If you're looking for a place to stay but not hang out at all day I highly recommend. read more

This place is not clean and has bugs. There is an open complaint with the County of Monterey Environmental Office. They are currently required to have a pest control company come out and have their findings sent to the County. I'd recommend staying away from this place until that is resolved. Me and my significant other really enjoyed our 1 night stay here. I booked on Expedia ans checked in 2 hours early with no problems. We had a king room #39 to be exact and it was nice it was on a corner by itself so super private I recommend! The staff was all very friendly, and our room was a 9/10 clean. The only thing is parking get full quick and can get tricky to try and find a spot later in the evening. We loved the fireplace in the room! We also went down for the free breakfast that included breakfast sandwiches either bacon, egg and cheese or sausage egg and cheese. There were muffin options, cereal and a couple fruit choices. Everything was individually wrapped so we took a few things even if we weren't going to have them right then and there. The location is super close to the popular destination areas in Monterey and Carmel. Definitely recommend the 17 mile scenic drive, it's $10.25 cash only btw. This place is highly overrated! I recently made a reservation here by accident. It was a Saturday night so I checked in only to be given first a room with a balcony that looks straight into a wall, a fireplace that didn't work, and all the room lights including those over the bed on one switch. AND in the bathroom ceiling there was water dripping out of the overheard light. It cost as much as nearby luxury hotels, - outrageous! I can't imagine ever staying in this place but if you can Wrangle a cheap rate out of them it might repeat MIGHT be worth it. All their high ratings are so much BS. read more

Unimpressed. A lot of folks say how wonderful the staff was? The first person to meet at the front desk was making comments how some prior folks there were difficult to deal with. Give me a break! First of all, these folks are to do what?! Provide hospitality! Didn't detect that at all. We were wiped out after driving 12 hours a day and get a little tired. I locked myself out twice by accident. Why you may ask? I slept in a room that the heater wouldn't get over 66 degrees at night during a cold front that went through. The fireplace wouldn't stay on longer than maybe thirty minutes and stay off. The same person at the front desk both tried to reset both the hvac unit. Never changed the situation. I had to get up multiple times through the night to keep the fireplace going and felt our NPO were ripped off when it came to price and service. I travel nationally and would have to say this is probably the worst experience I've had when it comes to lodging. Saying that I've been in some pretty dicey places. So this place isn't dicey, however, it's customer service is lacking & quality of rooms are sub par. That also didn't serve breakfast, yet still charged full price ad they did over the last year or so. If y'all knew my room had a problem, he should've corrected it and put me in another room. In no way did they try to make my experience better or switch rooms knowing I was having problems with my room. It was very clear they didn't want to inconvenience themselves. One of the nicer motels on Munras, good for the price (weekday rates are significantly lower than weekends). Stayed here for a week long work trip. I was upgraded to a delux King room, which is pleasant--high wooded ceiling and nice decor. Location is convenient, near DelMonte Mall and a few miles from the beach. Fairly quiet and okay service. The reasons I didn't give it 5 stars: the bed needs a better mattress and pillows for optimal comfort, as the current ones were rather lumpy; this wouldn't matter much for a short stay but important for people with back issues who stay there for more than a night; there is a slight mildew smell to the rooms, which could be because of the Monterey climate (often foggy) and due to the age of the building (it has been remodeled recently but it has old plumbing); and it could be generally a bit cleaner (maybe a deep steam cleaning, especially in Covid times). Otherwise, I would recommend to everyone who is looking for something easy, simple and affordable. The fireplace is a nice touch, and staff is accommodating (ask if you need extra coffee or towels). If you want luxury, book a $400 a night room on Cannery Row. read more
