You guys let me leave with her pain meds. You also stated you wouldn't have sent her home if you didn't think she was okay. Well you sent her home and she died. We have been dr. Kaye's patient for the past 12 years and he has always been great. Dr. Kaye is very caring and compassionate. Most importantly, he does not run unnecessary tests and put animals through unnecessary pain for money. My 14 year old Pomeranian recently got hepatitis and would've died without Dr. Kaye and his crew. They kept us informed of his status and gave us daily updates. Dr. Kaye would even come on his days off to ck on my dog to make sure he's ok. I could understand why other reviewers complaint about the bill. However, vet costs are generally pretty high, especially in New York. Besides, Dr. Kaye's rate is actually much cheaper than some other multi-specialty pet hospital (such as Blue Pearl). Also, both of my friend's dogs have been dr. Kaye's patient for the past 2 to 3 years and she's never had any problems either. In general, I'm really glad we have dr. Kaye as our vet. Dr. Kaye cares about animals & doesn't do unnecessary testing. There isn't much more to look for in a vet. I've been taking my 85lb mix to him for the last three years & I have no complaints. Dr. Kaye always remembers us when we come in & remembers all of Lokai's previous issues (penis infection, double ear infection). Dr. Kaye lets me ask a million questions & calmly answers them & slightly makes fun of me being a crazy dog mom (which I totally am). I think my favorite part is that he doesn't do any unnecessary testing or treatment. He doesn't try to push anything on you, even if you suggest it. I really appreciated the fact that during this pandemic, my dog was making this weird breathing noise that freaked me out so I was told to send in a video instead of coming in. He called about an hour later (he was in surgery & my dog's issue wasn't serious) & told me what was going on with my dog. This was AWESOME! It kept all of us safe & quickly eased my worries. Dr. Kaye honestly just cares so much & is so gentle with Lokai (even though I'm an anxious mess the whole time because that's my baby). The staff is also super friendly & very knowledgable about dogs!! I couldn't have found a better vet after moving to a new city (from FL) & not knowing anything about the area. One thing to note is that Dr. Kaye likes to joke. His sense of humor isn't what someone might expect from a vet but he means no harm EVER & is simply making jokes & making stressful situations less stressful. He's trying to lighten the mood. It took a visit or two to get used to but now he knows I'm a crazy dog mom & I know he's making jokes! He truly cares for Lokai & that's all that matters to me! Highly recommend!!! We're first-time cat owners and Bayside Veterinary Center is where I took Stewie to get his shots and to be neutered and dewormed (he was a stray). That visit was wonderful- the female vet was very kind and explained what she'd done and how I was to take care of his stitches. The next time I took Stewie in was an extremely unpleasant experience. This time, the owner of the clinic, Dr. Andrew Kaye, examined Stewie. The cat was having roundworm issues, either because his initial round of meds had not gotten rid of the worms he'd already ahd or he'd somehow contracted them from a (leashed) romp on our front lawn. It was NOT a good experience. While waiting for my appointment with him, I noticed how disrespectful he was to his front desk staff, who are very thoughtful and pleasant. Dr. Kaye was rude, snotty and dismissive of my concerns and questions when he saw Stewie. I chalked his attitude up to his probably having a bad day. A year later, I brought Stewie in for his annual shots. Same snotty attitude. You'd think I'd learned my lesson by this time, but I'm that sucker who gives everyone the benefit of the doubt over and over again. The next time I came in with Stewie, it was an emergency. Stewie was listless, and his belly was distended (I later found out he had a urinary obstruction). Dr. Kaye was again dismissive and snotty, and this time, I knew he wasn't just having a bad day; clearly there was something about me that he found offensive because he'd been chatting very amiably and charmingly with the clients before me. When it was my turn, he turned off the charm and was again disrespectful and snotty to me. I was struggling financially at the time and asked him if we could work out a payment schedule for what he said was an intestinal blockage. He snapped, "No!" and dismissed me from his sight. So there I was, crying over my dying cat, and he didn't even TRY to be kind. I raced over to the Bergh Memorial Animal Hospital where they immediately whisked Stewie into the back and Dr. Mimi Kim saved his life. Ever since then, I've willingly and gladly schlepped Stewie on a bus, two trains and a hike up those UES hills because I KNOW they care. Dr. Kim rocks and I'm sad that she moved out of the area. Wherever she is, her clients are extremely lucky people to have a wonderful vet like her. This place gets a star for having a pleasant staff and for being somewhat convenient for me. BVC lost the other four stars because its owner is an a$$hat and treats his staff and me like dirt, not to mention he misdiagnosed Stewie as having an intestinal blockage when it was a URINARY blockage! read more

Dr. Kaye and his staff are always very kind and treat all of their patients very well. I've been taking my dogs to Bayside Veterinary center for 20 years. We have 5 dogs that are currently cared for by them. My Pomeranian was his patient from the day we brought her home as a puppy till the day she passed away at the age of 17. She had many health problems throughout her long life and we were lucky enough to have Dr. Kaye care for her. I highly recommend this vet! read more

$800.00 to get my 20 lb dog spayed. A very common surgery most vets do it for under $500. When I asked why they charge so much, I was told that adult dogs need more attention. I wonder how they treat younger dogs. According to them, the surgery went well. But the cut wasn't fully stitched. They left a little hole. I told them there was liquid coming off of it. The Dr. put surgical glue over it, but that didn't stop the liquid dripping off the hole. Then they told me they have to "cut her open again, so bring her back in 2 days, because we have other things to do" until then. On our last visit (for a re check) after the second surgery, we were told not to bathe the dog for a whole month. Clearly these people don't know what they are doing, and don't care. They totally forgot the extra money I gave them for the extra "attention". Or they charged me more knowing they were going to mess up the first time, and need 2 surgeries. I am not sure when Dr Kaye stopped caring about animals and started caring more about pricey testing and putting a senior dog through unnecessary procedures. My maltese had been treated for an enlarged heart and heart murmur for over 1 year. He suffered from a cough for over 1 year which Dr Kaye treated with a cough suppressant. When I asked about treating him with a low salt diet and lasix Dr Kaye would roll his eyes making me feel like I did not know what I was talking about. One week ago I brought my dog in suffering from severe congestion coughing and obvious respiratory distress. Dr Kaye took an xray confirmed congestion/fluid enlarged heart and murmur. He gave him a shot of antibiotic and oxygen for 2 hours and returned my dog 2 hours later in the same respiratory distress. Charging me close to $500.00 he said; we needed to test further echo cardiogram and needle lung biopsy! Again, I asked Dr Kaye about the low salt diet, lasix and once again my questions were answered in a condescending way. That night my dog was terribly uncomfortable, first thing I called the office and brought him back in where he received a steroid injection. Dr Kaye said "he looks worse today" but did not examine him, he did not even listen to his lungs! I PLEADED IS THERE ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO HELP HIS BREATHING? The staff rolled their eyes at my questions and Dr Kaye seemed annoyed by my questions as he repeated, we need to do more testing. I took my dog home looked at his obvious discomfort and knew I needed to seek another opinion. By the grace of god I was lead to an angel (vet) I got to the office and as she handed me the papers to fill out Ziggy collapsed and died in my arms. The nurse ran him into the back and 15 minutes later they called me in. Ziggy died for 3 minutes one week ago today. The new vet held him upside down and out came fluid. She put him on an IV of lasix and gave him oxygen. Ziggy came back to us. Our new vet stayed with him for 2 hours until Ziggy was stable. She told me about low salt diets and the importance of lasix with his heart condition. All of which made perfect sense to me and which I had questioned many times, including his July checkup when I asked about his continual cough. Ziggy has stopped all the coughing he has had for 7 months. No cough meds, low salt diet. He is so peaceful and happy. I thank God I went with my gut and sought out a second opinion. If I would have followed his misdiagnosis my dog would have died. I cannot begin to tell you how sad I am to write this. I truly wanted to believe that I had my dog at a good Vet. I cannot stop apologizing to my precious dog. I should have followed my intuition months ago. read more

I've brought my dogs here for the last three years for check-ups, vaccines and boarding and I've always had a good experience. I asked to see the kennel facilities when I dropped off my dogs and everything was clean and orderly. The staff are kind, friendly and accommodating (even when I've been one of those clingy, overly-protective dog moms I swore I'd never be). Dr. Kaye has always been gentle and patient with my chihuahuas. His sense of humor may be a little rough around the edges but I appreciate that and if you can't handle it, you don't belong in Queens. Dr. Kaye and his staff were truly kind, and compassionate and very caring, extremely supportive, and understanding considering the hard decision we were faced with. No one looks forward to putting there beloved Angel-Baby to sleep, which is what my wife, boys and I had to do today unfortunately. When making such a difficult decision it was nice to know that while you feel so much heartache, pain and guilt that Dr. Kaye and his staff were there to make you feel at ease that you are doing what is morally and ethically right easing your pets pain and discomfort. While this process is extremely difficult and overwhelming it was comforting that Dr. Kaye took the time to explain each part of this procedure and what was actually happening to our Angel, Penny, and let us hold our babydoll and then gave our entire family the time needed to say goodbye so we all had the closure we desperately needed. We rescued Penny 7 years ago because her previous owner could not afford to pay for her stomach tumor surgery and thank God we found her online in a shelter and immediately fell in love. While we never really knew what was wrong with Penny, we gave her all the love and attention we had and spoiled her, along the way. Penny was our beautiful angel and loved to be loved, held and cared for. Penny provided so much emotional support, companionship and love and it will be truly disheartening to no longer be greeted when we wake up, come home or walk around the house. I have been going to Dr. Kaye for 15 years at least. The staff is always pleasant and very helpful and Dr. Kaye has always taken great care of all of my pets. We had an appointment set for 10a today. The appointment was made two weeks ago a with a guy at the front desk. The appointment was recorded on his end and had written proof on our end. When we called this morning to confirm our appointments the same guy at the desk told us our appointment had been deleted and that we could bring our dog in and wait around for the most of the day. He also said it wouldn't be likely that we get another appointment because the vet does not double book. They also told us the treatment our dog needed was time sensitive but did nothing to accommodate us. Lastly they did not issue an apology or explanation. Very unprofessional. We called another vet in their network and told them the situation, we got an apology from the vet and an appointment later this afternoon. We had neighbors that told us not to go to Bayside but being that it was close to our home we though it would be more convenient and we know that each case it different. I wish we never went there. I called the office hoping to get a quick appointment because my dog was in pain with an injury, thankfully, they were very accommodating and saw us right away. I took my 12 year old mixed breed to see Dr Kaye for multiple health concerns. I found him to be extremely thorough with his exam. He really spent time with my dog and we discussed all of my concerns regarding his condition. Dr Kaye was very compassionate, he has a wonderful way with animals as well as the humans. I highly recommend using Bayside Veterinary Center! I also love the fact they are in the neighborhood with great hours. read more

I seem to be lucky. First, I was given a beautiful young husky whom I brought to Dr. Kaye due to the wonderful reviews I'd been given by various dog and cat owners who'd used him. He and his staff gave my girl a thorough check out/checkup and told me the results. He then proceded to give her the necessary shots. I was very happy. My girl (the husky) then went and found a 2 week old kitten in my back yard. I took him to Dr. Kaye who at no charge checked him out. He then told me to come back in a few weeks for the necessary shots as he was too young to get medicines. Then, last week while walking the husky, a lady whom I'd never met was lamenting the fact that she'd had too many animals....that she had to get rid of one....guess who took her! I then took her to Dr. Kaye and he gave me all the information necessary about what she'd need (she was a rescue). Again, no complaints. She got her shots and the three critters are happily chasing each other through the house. I have every intention of returning to this man for all my veterinary needs. read more
