Bazzarelli holds a special place in my heart. I've been coming to Bazzarelli's since grammar school. It's been well over 15 years. I remember when a slice and a soda cost $1 and the cigs in the vending machine costs $3.25 Granted, i haven't been here recently, but I have no doubt that they have kept their consistent quality. Really good, nice atmosphere, really nothing to complain about. Fairly simple. Had the penne vodka, which I lapped up every ounce of, and everything that everybody with my group had was great. I've only had the pizza here but it was my lease favorite out of the other pizzerias in the area that I've tried. Although the pizza did have lots of cheese, it was just missing something for me. Maybe it was the lack of sauce that I didn't like but nonetheless I won't be ordering pizza from here but I would try some of their other pasta dishes and entrees. read more

The best Italian food Ive ever eaten. My best friends parents, who are off the boat from Italy, are probably better but this is a close second. My fiancé and I just had our rehearsal dinner here on July 16th. The owners, Denise and Aldo, were super sweet and very accommodating. This place has an awesome mom and pop restaurant that makes u feel like ur at home. They have great packages to choose from that are very reasonable in price. The food was fabulous and the amount they gave us was super filling for all. We got the family style package. We were 16 ppl and we still brought back food from our meal. Love this place and the ppl. He brought the wrong and when I asked for the correct one, I received a dirty look and a slightly passive aggressive wait for my drink. I moved to Little Ferry about 2 years ago and was referred to this restaurant by a few locals. The first time I tried it out I got the eggplant rollatini for an appetizer which was pretty tasty. I am a huge eggplant fan. I was having dinner with my sister this night and we each got a martini which also tasted great. The second time I went, the wait to get my food was very long. I generally don't like to comment on this or make it a negative part of my feedback because I understand that there could be an off night where a waiter called out but this was not the only time this happened. The food on this night was mediocre...It did not taste fresh or homemade. On a positive note, the staff, waiters and waitresses were very friendly. Considering what happened to this business during Hurricane Sandy, my heart went out to them. I decided to give them another try because this business lost almost everything they had. Unfortunately, the food was still not great after the hurricane. I was hoping that they would come back with some new, fresh changes but it was the same. Overall, this restaurant is mediocre but a lot of families swear by this place and go here often for family dinners. I do still wish them the very best especially after what happened to them after the hurricane. I have been ordered take out pizza from Bazzarelli for years now and have to say that it has been one of the better Italian restaurants in the area. We decided to go out as a family and dine in at the restaurant and that was a mistake. The food just didn't taste fresh and the use of canned ingredients was a deal breaker to me. Fried Calamari was rubbery, pretty sure it was from a bag, the spicy sauce was OK. We ordered 2 small pizzas and they took almost an hour to come out, with 2 small kids waiting on pizza it wasn't ideal but we waited. The pizzas came out overcooked and although handmade, tasted like digiorno with plain sauce and hard shell crusts. I'll stick to takeout. read more

It was a nice place to discover. We wanted to go to a Spanish place along the road but found that this place seemed to have room, it eventually filled up before we left. The pasta was done well, their calamari's sauce was good, highly recommend. Service was done by one guy who waited on more than 8 tables and he kept up with the pace and didn't miss a thing. Great local place...consistently good, solid Italian food. My parents (born in Italia...biggest pains when it comes to going out for dinner ) love this place as well..who's going to argue with Mamma e Pappa? We have had just about everything here...pasta, pizza, steaks, clams, mussels, fried calamari...all delicious, brought out hot/on time and no complaints at all. Service is very good...it can get busy here on nights/weekends so make a reservation if it's a large party. Owner is always here...his daughter runs the show & she is a sweetheart. Last time we went for my mom's bday (brought in our own cake) she came over to say happy bday, chatted w/us a bit and comp'd us all of our coffees. How's that for great customer service? I tried this place at the recommendation of my girlfriend, who frequented it years ago. I subsequently reviewed the Yelp reviews, and figured, OK this place seems like a good new place to try. Upon arrival, the place was busy, so that was a good sign. From there, it went all down hill. Upon entering the building, you are not greeting by a hostess, but by an awkward bar area. You have to walk your way further in, which is fine. Then you wait in the small bar area. After getting a table, we were seated. Nothing to rave about in their seating. They have a high table density, and it can get loud. They have an LCD above a nice fireplace in the one room, and I thought how tacky it is to advertise your establishment while you have patrons eating. We ordered two drinks to start and two soups for appetizer. The drinks were good. The Chicken Soup was something to be desired. It lacked flavor. The Escarole and Bean soup was delicious. The bread that they provide is good, but it reminds me of bread you buy at ShopRite. From here on, nothing was good. Out came our house salads. Felt like a Dole bag of salad with one piece of tomato and maybe one piece of cucumber. I'm not sure if they even put dressing on? Maybe just oil? It was extremely bland, and neither of us could get that food down. And my girlfriend never leaves salad. This is the first time I've seen her leave a salad. I ordered Chicken Parm, figuring, this is an Italian place and you can't mess that up. Well, somehow they did. The Chicken Parm was not very good. I don't even know how they could make it taste like that. They don't even bother to put shredded Mozzarella on. They put two slices of Mozzarella on, so when it comes out, you have this funny looking piece of Chicken. They only covered half the chicken with sauce. The side of pasta was so bad, I only could try two bites. I tried the first bite because it looked good, then tried again because I said to myself, maybe I am mistaken, it can't possibly be that disgusting. Well, it was. I left about half of my chicken and all of my pasta. My girlfriend ordered the Lobster special, it came with some potatoes and veggies. The potatoes were bland. The lobster was not cleaned out, was the worst I ever tried, and was sad to let go to waste. At that point, we were afraid to try dessert and waste more money on this place. We left hungry, and tempted to eat elsewhere, but our tastebuds were ruined for the night. We were asked if we wanted our food wrapped, and I didn't think I should do that to my dog, so we politely declined. Service was OK. Also, my girlfriend went to the restroom and said it was disgusting. That's somewhat typical though it seems for public restrooms. I was tempted to give this place two stars because only one star seems extreme, but when I got the bill for $77 and added on $14 tip, I said to myself, all of this food and money, and I'm still hungry and it was so horrible. I drove 30 miles to try this place out and could have gone to so many other places that would have been actually halfway decent for this money. I am thinking maybe we are picky since people there seemed to be eating the food. But maybe there's nothing better around. I don't know. Maybe they have a new chef who really knows nothing more than how to boil water. Or maybe the owner is giving a directive to use dollar store ingredients, which saves money obviously, but could make for some not so pleasant food. I will never visit this place again. read more

Have been curious about this place for quite a while and finally made it there this past weekend. A-OK sums it up. Wasn't bad, wasn't great. We started with fried calamari, which was pretty good. BF got chicken soup, which he enjoyed. For mains, I got sole almondine & he got a pasta with eggplant and added shrimp. They were pretty good, but a tad on the salty side for my taste. Here's my general feeling: This is the kind of place that's good for a really hearty (read: fattening) classic Italian dish like eggplant or chicken parm, but you might want to skip the more elaborate dishes. read more

I like the small mom-n-pop restaurants and supporting these types of places. We're a family of 3 and we just thought it was just simply ok. From most of the reviews on here, it seems to be overhyped. Pros: Very nice friendly folks running this place. It was a snowy night and they were extra attentive to the wet floors, which was very good. Bus boys kept circling around the perimeter making sure everyone had enough water in their glass. Good points! Food: It was okay. We had pasta fascoli, it tasted a bit more of a garlic burnt taste, which I think they had it on high flame for a tad too long in the pan. Otherwise, I would think it would be a solid soup. Perhaps a foul up once in a while? Salmon dish was cooked just right with the great tasting mandarin orange/lemon sauce with string beans and potatoes. This was a solid dish. $18.90 for this one. The salmon was a descent size. Eggplant rollatini was good. That was $15, I believe. It was a big portion and my wife and I shared it. We still have to take the remainder home. This was a solid dish. Cons: $12.99 Kids menu with a choice of an entree, drink and an ice cream. I think you'd be financially better off ordering an appetizer separately for your kid. The ice cream was literally about a 4 tablespoons cup. House salad with balsamic vinegar was literally a rack of olive oil and balsamic vinegar with 3 slices of tomatoes and rough cuts of iceberg lettuce. I was hoping that the dressing would have been premixed with herbs for a unique taste, but this was not the case. Oh well. Overall, it's just simply "OK" for a total bill of $58 rounded up with a 20% tip for good service. Will I come back? I don't know. Wow! I used to be a regular at this place back in middle school (1998-2000). This was my introduction to really good NJ style pizza. Not sure if they are still using the original recipe, but it was seriously the best pizza I'd ever tasted. I used to go during lunchtime at R.L. Craig School when Vinny was running it . He would sometimes yell at us in an Italian accent just so he could see our scared faces and laugh afterwards. I got the risotto with chicken and mushrooms; the flavor was delicious, but it would have been better if they'd used arborio rice instead of regular long-grain rice (the result was kind of mushy). My favorites are the chicken piccata, francese or marsala. Family-owned and operated since it was opened by owner Aldo in 1971. His kids help him run it now. Never disappoints.
