Every time I pop in here for a quick slice and empanada, Marios always brings a smile to my face. The place is so friendly and family-oriented, you can't help but feel at home here in this tiny shoe box where everything is definitely made with pride and love. With patrons and workers hugging and kissing each other hello, escape here to feel as if you're in a friendly little cafe in Argentina. The pizza is great (generous slices with lots of cheese) and the empanadas are so fresh and delicious. A little Bosa Nova Jazz in the background with a soccer game always on the TV, I like it here. Went to dinner to Mario's on Monday. The place is simple and feels more like a pizzeria than a full service restaurant. We got in and were seated. Definitely a mom and pop spot so that makes it unique. I visited the restaurant because it was suggested by friends. I also saw some images on instagram so this Monday was it. The experience was very good. It is an Argentine restaurant so if you like the cuisine this is your place. Just keep in mind no liquor. You can bring wine and assume beer. We stayed with non alcohol. The greet was nice. Took our orders smoothly. Everyone works to serve you. Gentleman from the back came out often to assist. Delivery person was also involved. I believe the mom kept an eye on the floor. Food: everything was pretty good. Flavor is more on the mild side of things and not salty. Noticed that guests were a mix of older and younger some with kids. Space is small so I suggest getting in early by 6:30pm it was full. We had the beef empanadas...were very good. Just keep in mind Argentine style. Got a spinach salad. It was ok but I would prefer they mix the salad and dressing. It was instead drizzled on top. Not a big problem. Next time I will ask. Ordered the cheese and chorizo app. It was very good. Could use a little flavor with the Chorizo. Mains...ordered 2 Pasta and short rib topped with burrata dishes and the steak lomito. Pastas were very good but needed a touch of salt but it was very good. The highlight was the lomito. Overall very good. Dessert ordered the flan. It was good but not great. It was a bit tough. Coffee was very good. So overall it was a very nice experience. My guests enjoyed it and yes I will be back. I love Argentine food so this was good for me. Menu is large. The place exterior looks run down but in saw plenty of people going in. I accidentally ran into this establishment trying to get another Mario pizza. I was greated by a friendly reception. I decided to try the spinach and cheese empanada. Each cost $3.75 but will leave you hungry. I also got the chicken parm pizza. Both were heated nicely. After the 1st bite of the pizza I wished I had ordered something different. The empanada was pretty straight forward as well. The price is a little high. Was tasty but not the very best. The Sicilian slice when warmed up was great! There was an after taste to this slice that just SCREAMED old school pizza place. I liked it but I also wouldn't get it again? I can't really accurately describe it. The Sicilian definitely upgraded this to a four star or else it would sit safely at 3.5. Everyone's nice in here and it seems to always be packed. The white pie was not very flavorful, but also salty. I couldn't finish one slice much less the two I got. This restaurant it's not what it seems on the outside. I was completely judging before I entered. I was pleasantly surprised by the customer service, the food and the homey vibes it gave me. The gentleman behind the counter brought a cup with ice and my Snapple I ordered. Another gentleman brought me warm bread and butter which was very good. I asked for more bread and wasn't charged for it which was very nice of the establishment. I order calamari which also was very good. The price was affordable. Given that we are in an inflation. As a New York-born Italian-American retired chef, pizza is important to me. It's also important to the folks at Mario's. They do a great job. This excellence extends to their sandwiches, calamari, and eggplant parm. That's all we've tried so far so I can't vouch for any of the other items on the menu but I am sure that the care manifested in our dinner will extend to the rest of the menu. A word about the service: tremendous! From the gentleman taking our order (no impersonal and inflexible, grubhub-driven internet process here) to the young lady delivering our order, everyone was courteous, helpful, enthusiastic and eager to please. I needed to pick up some pizza for game night, and my friend lives in Saddle Brook around the corner from this spot, and whenever we do bring in pizza it isn't good, so I figured I would check it out. I have heard a ton of positive things about their food and pizza, so I was looking forward to what would hopefully be a good slice. Went in today for a slice of Pizza, I was out doing errands in Saddle Brook and after seeing the Yelp reviews i made the decision to eat there. Pizza was thin and crusty, since it was thin their wasn't a lot of sauce or cheese but it was just right. i love the crunchiness it had.The taste was good and the Empanadas (beef) were amazing. Great customer service and the owner is probably the coolest guy i've met who runs a pizza place haha so generous and always came up to me to make sure everything was ok. Not super doughy and with the perfect amount of meat, sometimes it's a little too much meat but with a carnivore like me I am not complaining. Since moving to NJ from Chicago, I've really missed pizza take-out. Based on the yelp reviews, we ordered a pizza last week. We stuck with cheese... it's a great baseline to judge a pizza. Unfortunately, it wasn't a 5 star or even a 4 star pizza. It was ok but nothing to write home about. And certainly not worth ordering again.
