Been here done it, won't be back. I have to say I couldn't tell the difference between pan style pizza and thin crust. They looked identical!! The taste is there as far as pizza goes, but the dough needs some help. And the veggies and meats where tossed on in massed piles and not spread out evenly at all. We were vacationing in Lake Placid for the week and wanted something quick for dinner, that cost less than $100 for a family of four! We are picky pizza eaters who prefer Brooklyn style thin, crispy crust, which can be difficult to find done well outside of the metro NY area. We were pleasantly surprised by Bazzi's. Ordered fried zucchini for an appetizer. Nice portion was cooked properly. The pizza was excellent. Thin crispy crust with a good balance of sauce and cheese. Slight touch of black on the underside of the crust from the oven... as it should be! Sauce was tasty. If this was in my hometown, I would regularly order pizza from this restaurant. Pleasant service, good pizza, clean and fast. For a pizza place, I give it four stars. Dinner for four with sodas and tip was around $40. read more

We stopped to grab a few quick slices from the case for lunch. They were good. Super thin crust. Reasonable price and good size slices. We came across the whole state into town for a hockey tourney, and we were starving. We sat and waited about ten minutes before anyone even said hello. We waited forever to get waited on, but waited an acceptable time for food. We had to get up to get our three dollar cans of pop ourselves. When food came out, the pizza was okay and the two salads we ordered came out much later. It took us five minutes to get the poor server's attention before we could manage to get silverware. Everyone in the place was watching to see who got served next. A few people left without ordering. When I finally neared the end of the Caesar salad, I found a huge chunk of plastic in it. Great place, walking down Main Street looking for a place I could get take out, ordered the pasta with pomodoro sauce, asked if I could add some grilled chicken, they said no problem. I went in to Bazzi's while my bf took the kids to find a place to park. After standing by the counter for a while, I finally had to ask one of the people walking by if I should seat myself, which she gave me permission to do. I was under the impression that it was a restaurant, where someone would come and take orders, but now I think maybe we were supposed to order at the counter? I had to help myself to drinks from a cooler. Long story short ... the service was not good. The food (appetizer platter, wings, calzones, alfredo, and slices) ranged from not good to average. My daughter ordered pasta alfredo which she said tasted awful, so she sent it back and ordered a calzone instead. They charged us for the alfredo anyway, but not the calzone, which is kind of weird, but whatever, I guess. If I were in a college town going out for a slice on a Friday night, this is what I would expect. Stop! Do not enter this establishment. Read on; We walked up to the counter (place was empty on a busy night and this should have beeen our first clue to leave) I needed something to drink right away, grabbed a water from the fridge and then waited there at the counter for someone to help us. Another man that came out later and sat at a table. We think he may be the owner? While we waited for our pizza we watched them eat behind the counter lol even when a couple came into order, one of the girls continued eating at the counter...I couldn't believe it. We got our pizza. It's huge. Huge doesn't mean good. The crust is hard, chewy. Not soft-doughy OR crunchy. It was cardboard-ish. VERY greasy. I couldn't eat the crust. We ate it though because we were starving. A girl came out to clear a table and Mitch asked her if we could get a soda refill and...no soda refills! Really? How about 'We don't offer this, BUT since your experience has been so bad...I'll honor it for you'. How about 'Since I ignored you when you got here, forgot to bring you menus, then took 20 minutes to take your order because I was hangin out & eating...I'll go ahead and honor it for you'....I wanted to leave so bad. Like walk out leave. I feel like they should have offered US money to stay. Ten minutes after we finished our pizza we realized they weren't going to bring us a bill. Did they expect us to walk out? lol We would never do anything like this of coarse...So Mitch got in line after about ten kids walked in to order single slice pizza. Garlic knots pretty standard and good with some marinara provided for dipping. Buffalo chicken pizza left a lot to be desired but did the job of filling your belly but nothing to write home about. Good Pizza. Weird Service. Waitress/staff didn't understand our first question in the door...nor the last step of taking our money out the door... "Should we wait to be seated or take any open table?" We asked because it wasn't clear if it was a self-serve joint or if there was table service by wait staff. The woman at the counter just said take any table, and order up here (at the counter). Ok, we did that -- we sat our kids at a table, and I went up and ordered our meal at the counter. Then later (literally about 10 minutes later) she came to our table, asking what we wanted to eat. Huh?!!??!?!? She went back. A couple of minutes later she came out with our pie, pasta and garlic knots. We asked for plates -- she came back with paper plates. The two tables next to us got real plates, not paper (1 per person too! cheapo!). Why? What's up with that? We ordered more food than them too. When we went to pay at the cashier, the same woman took my credit card -- but had no clue how to use the machine. She put the order in three times because she had to start over-- asked the guy to help swipe the card (it's not that hard, lady! hold card, move card within slot with a sweeping motion in one direction...) and answer the prompts on the credit card machine. She wasn't mean or rude or anything like that -- it just was a totally bizarre experience. Food-wise, the pizza was classic thin crust pizza -- much preferable to Eres Pizza down the block. Most of the restaurants on Main Street in Lake Placid are touristy and expensive, so this was a welcome sight for someone wanting a quick, cheap, hot dinner. 2 of us split a medium veggie pizza, which came with 6 generous slices and fresh veggies and was more than enough for a filling dinner. Revised 10/23/18... Lately the pizza has been mediocre at best. Thinking they hired someone new to make pizza. Sadly they are still probably the best pie in town. Bazzi's is complicated! It's a love/hate relationship. If you come just for the pizza you'll love it. If you're expecting good service or other good food from the menu you'll likely be disappointed. The servers/service is..... non existent even though this is a sit down restaraunt. They might get around to you they might not. Servers do double duty as counter person/server. Counter person first server second. When you order you're meal you will often be told to get your own drinks from the refrigerator. Sometimes you get drinks at the table. Depends who's working. Want napkins? Get them yourself. Silverware, parm cheese, red pepper etc. you gotta ask. Pay you're bill? Probably going to have to walk up to the counter. But maybe not. How much does this all matter? Not one bit! They have a damn good pie. The best in Lake Placid. NY thin crust pizza. So good and it's consistantly good. As far as other items on the menu... I have dabbled and have nothing good to report. Hot subs are sub par. Pasta is pasta right? Come for just a fresh, hot out of the oven pizza and leave happy and satisfied! We go to Bazzi's every time we are in Lake Placid. It's one of our favorite Italian places. Great value for fresh, delicious food. The pizza is particularly good. It is NY style with a crisp crust that has just enough chew and pizza sauce with a hint of butter. The pastas come in generous portions and have fresh, simple ingredients. Haha I love the varying reviews of this place because even though Ive only been here once- I can tell it is as hit or miss as they come. No gloves or tongs here- nope. Your pizza, garlic knots, etc. are picked up bare handed and put in an oven. Despite some yelp'ers, I thought the cheese slice was good. Not the best pizza I've had, but definitely a solid slice. Fantastic NY Style Pizza! Being from the NY metro area we are used to the best pizza around and are often disappointed when grabbing a slice while traveling. Bazzi's changes that for Lake Placid...We will be sure to stop here each time we are in town because their pizza is awesome. We also ordered the fried calamari and it was out of this world!
