Probably the only African Restaurant in Baton around. Located in east BR, you would probably never see the place unless you're looking for it. It's about 100 yards off the main road along the side of a shopping center. A real hole in the wall type place. My favorite. We arrived right after noon and the place was closed but offered a a phone number to ope. We called and the proprietor arrived in about 4 minutes. She was friendly and really to cook. She explained the items and we made our choice. Fufu and egusi soup is recommended for beginners. We had both chicken and beef and opted for the spicy option. The beef was my favorite by far. The spice was present but not overpowering. The place also offers a ton of drink options, many of which you may have never heard of. Stop by and give this place a try. It's been around a long time and is a great spot for lunch.

Delicious authentic Nigerian food! I've always wanted to try fufu and other Nigerian dishes and I'm glad I chose this spot to give a try. The owner is very nice and patient. I think right now they're only doing takeout, which worked great for me because that's my preference. Anyway all the food was delicious and flavorful. My favorite things was the jollof rice and chicken. I am looking forward to going back to try fufu with other types of soup! It felt great being a bit connected to my ancestral roots through cuisine.

I definitely will return to try other dishes. This dish was delicious. The pricing was a little different from what showed online but that was ok. I really wanted to try the dish and glad I did.

I've never tried African cuisine, but this was so good! I will definitely be eating here again. I loved the fufu. She warns that it's bland, but I loved it. I'm a carb person, so I tend to eat my carbs more than I eat the main dish. The egusi soup with beef was a good starter to eat it with. Now I'm excited to try her other soups! I wish I could've asked for it to be spicy. I also wish she could've given more fufu! The price was not bad at all, around $10 a dish. The fufu comes with the egusi soup. The Jollof rice is also very good. I think that's a better starter dish if you're not super open to different cuisines! I ordered it spicy but I wish I got it more spicy! I would definitely recommend that dish more than the egusi but both are good! The plantains were soft and yummy! I thought it was going to be chips, but they were not. She only offers ordering takeout, so call the number that's posted on the door and she will have it ready in under 30 minutes! Ours was ready in probably 15 and it was fresh + hot. She also has a lot of different juices available, but I didn't get to try one. Next time I will try the mango and carrot juice. I can't wait to try her other dishes. Highly recommend this small business!

Jollof Rice with chicken, Plantains, fish pepper soup and Fufu

I ordered jollof rice with chicken and plantains and fish pepper soup with fufu over the phone and it was ready in 20 minutes. I did not catch her name but the owner was very sweet and we had a great conversation while she packaged my food to go! Everything was very fresh and hot even when I got home. The chicken was tender and juicy. The jollof was more tomatoey and not as spicy as I am accustomed to but decent and a fairly large portion. I probably could have asked for it to be spicy. The plantains were good as well. The pepper soup brought the heat!! Wasn't much but it was the perfect amount and the fufu was filling too! All this food for $20. Def going back for more soup and to retry a spicer jollof. She did recommend cash next time because the card reader gives her trouble sometimes.

Ms Caroline is the sweetest! She cooks all her food to order and will personally text you to let you know when your food is ready. Her food is amazing!!! My first time having African food now I'm in love!!!

I'm so disappointed after reading such good reviews of this place! I came here with the the $8 for $10 voucher posted on Yelp. I informed the owner(?) right away about this deal I purchased and she said she didn't know much about it but that they'll take care of it when we cash out our check. Anyways, I ordered the bean plate which came with the plantains. I was eyeing the peanut soup, so she told me they could just make me a small cup since it wasn't listed on the menu. The food took about 20 minutes to come out and it was good. The beans and plantains were seasoned well but it wasn't really hot temperature-wise. The soup was spicy and hot and delicious. When it came to paying out, the owner (the first lady who helped us) had left to run errands so her sister was the one who cashed us out. I told her about the Yelp voucher I bought and she said she knew nothing about it??? She called her sister and after I tried to explain to them what to do with the code, they would NOT honor the voucher. They said the money goes to Yelp and that I haven't paid???? The lady told me I needed to contact Yelp and get my money back from them. So I'm looking up how to do that while she's checking out my coworker (we were the only ones there), and she said to me, "Can you hurry? I have other things to do." WOW So in the end, I paid the $8 for the voucher and then they charged me $15 for my meal. That was higher than expected since the cup of soup was charged as $6 even though for $3.50 more I could've gotten a large soup plus two sides, which is listed on their dinner menu. So I definitely think I was overcharged. Whatever, I don't recommend anyone coming here from Yelp because they will not honor the deals on their site.

Ever wonder what BB & PF stood for?

This place is definitely a hidden gem. it is off the beaten path on Florida Drive, in a questionable area, sitting alone in the back of a cluster of empty store fronts. The only thing that identifies its presence is a small colorful flashing sign in the window. And be warned, google maps will drop you off in the parking lot of American Pawn. This place is located at the back of that complex. Be careful not the hit the fire yellow extinguisher located in the middle of the drive that leads back to this place. This place is small. Three tables out in front of a counter, a couple shelves with African food items for sale, and a few pictures adorn the walls. There was no one in site when we entered. He heard noise in the back, so we called out. A women, who turned out to be the owner, stepped out and greeted us. She was pleasant, showed us the menu and asked if we had ever eaten African food. I have been to several African restaurants in st Louis, but the experience was new to my dining companion. I opted for the FuFu with peanut soup and beef. We were told we would have to wait a bit, due to the fact that she was preparing a couple take out orders. About 15 minutes later our food arrived. The dishes were AWESOME. I got mine spicy, which was very HOT. Still the flavor was great and I manged to eat all of the meat and soup. FuFu looked a lot like raw bread dough, but it was the constancy of sticky mashed potatoes. It was bland, but that was not an issue, as it was meant to be dipped into the soup and adsorb the nutty, creamy peanutty flavors. I will be coming back to this place. The food was unique and very good. And after seeing the plantains and beans and Bean Burger the guy at the next table ordered, I want to eat that!

    Ogbono (okra soup) with goat
    Sean V.

I got ogbono (okra soup) with fufu and bean nuggets from BB & PF. Before I ordered it I was cautioned that some people don't like the ogbono because of the sliminess of the okra but I told her I wanted to try something new. When she asked what meat I wanted and I said goat she said, "you're really going all in huh?" Lol. I really loved the bean nuggets. I enjoyed the sliminess of the ogbono and the texture of the fufu. I am not sure if it was the flavor of the ogbono or the fufu but it was really different than what I was used to. I like everything overall and I am curious about other Nigerian soups and boiled yams. I have had the coconut couscous and jollof I would really recommend those for people that want something more familiar. They are great. This is one of the most unique restaurants in Baton Rouge and the whole of Louisiana.

This place is really ducked off, they weren't lying when they said it was a *hidden* gem! I feel like that exclusive family member who gets to come pick up my plate! Greeted with love, food made with love, a foot, all that. Been here twice and got jollof rice & fufu with egusi (melon soup) both times. Cant wait to come back & try something different!

The dress was casual, servers were polite and efficient, and the food was thoughtful. Some of my favorites from the night included: - Attaya drink: We were told this had ginger and tumeric. It had a fun celery-like foam. - Dakar Bread: The Palm oil rolls were sweet and salty perfection. If you're craving bold flavors and a cozy spot that feels like a hidden gem, this place never disappoints--highly recommend for locals and visitors alike! The vibe here is warm and inviting, with simple, colorful decor that transports you straight to Cameroon or Gambia without leaving NOLA. It's a small, intimate space, perfect for a casual dinner or even a quick lunch amid the Quarter's hustle. Parking can be tricky on Royal Street, but it's worth the walk--plus, the location puts you right in the mix of historic charm and lively energy. Service is always spot-on: friendly, knowledgeable staff who make you feel like family. Our server chatted about the menu's inspirations and helped customize spice levels, which is great for anyone new to African dishes. Everything came out promptly, even on a busy evening, and they were attentive without hovering. Now, the food--oh man, where to start? It's all about that delicious, authentic goodness. My absolute go-to is the shrimp rice and spinach dish; the jollof rice is perfectly spiced with a rich tomato base, tender shrimp, and just the right kick, paired with sautéed spinach that's garlicky and fresh. It's hearty, flavorful, and reminds me of home-cooked comfort with an exotic twist. We also tried the plantains--crispy on the outside, soft inside--and the akara (black-eyed pea fritters) as starters, which were crispy, savory perfection. Portions are generous, and everything's made with fresh ingredients that shine through in every bite.
