I was gonna gatekeep this business but it would be a crime for me to not too. Not only is it all you can eat bbq, their meat options are vast even for their "standard option" which is priced at $29 on the weekends, which I believe is a great deal for what you get. The highlight of this place (besides the great kbbq) is their banchan buffet. Aka side dish buffet. They have a ton of side dishes that usually come standard with Korean meals, but here it's buffet style so you can go grab as much as you would like. The side dishes range from pickled vegetables to stir fried Korean potato noodles! They also have a soft serve ice cream machine that adds a great touch once you stuff yourself. The meats are really great quality, and you can always tell by the brisket (which are great quality and not just chunks of fat) I also think the service here is spot on. They come frequent enough to fill your water and grill change. Really haven't had any issues with service here. The workers may not say much but they're efficient. We got there at 5:30pm, just the right time because it definitely started to fill up about an hour later. We were able to order the first few selections to start right away. The servers came around pretty frequently so we were able to order continuously. The buffet of banchan and other dishes was so vast. I was impressed. There was even tteokbboki and a tofu stew, along with kimbap. My favorite side dish was the bean sprouts. There was also fruit too, which I wasn't expecting. All the meat was delicious. The pork belly is a classic. We loved the pork steak too. The thinly sliced bulgogi was a great one to start with. The marinaded ones were really tasty too. Overall, a really great spot. Two different menu tiers - standard and deluxe. Kalbi is only on the deluxe menu so that's what we went with, which was $38.95. We ordered brisket, kalbi, marinated too blade and beef steak. Service was good, almost too good. Between taking our order, changing the grill, putting our raw meat on the grill and constantly turning the grill up and down, it did feel a little rushed. It was a party of 2 so we wanted to take our time cooking the food, but waitresses would come by and throw it on the grill. Portions are also interesting. We received one piece of top blade steak, but three pieces of the unseasoned beef steak, which we did not end up liking. Meat options were good, but the self-serve banchan deserved its own recognition. Everything I got was very tasty and they even have the pickled radish wraps, which is one of my favorites. AYCE KBBQ seems like a hard thing to come by in the Chicago area, which kills me because I just moved here from LA and it's pretty common and plentiful back home. I've now had 4 different KBBQ experiences and I think for the price and options, this might very well be the best place. Since I live in the city, it's a bit annoying to have to come out this way to eat, but I feel like it's worth it. We came in on a Sunday afternoon just after any kind of lunch rush - around 3pm. There was only one party in the entire place besides us. Later though, the place started the fill up quickly. But we were glad to come when we did. We had two servers help us the entire time - one who didn't really talk much (I don't think she spoke much English), and another who was very friendly and took very good care of us. I wish we got her name because she was so sweet! Anyways, as of March 2021, as I write this review, the standard option for All-You-Can-Eat pricing is $24.99. Honestly a decent price and because of the pricing I would definitely recommend this place. My favorite thing here was the brisket, and secondly the pork belly. There were some other meats we ordered that were just alright, but I do like the quality of their sides so I think that makes up. They honestly have a good list of options for meat to order for their standard pricing. Their next option for meat is their deluxe option which is $29.99 for AYCE. Honestly, this is like my 15th time back. I'm not sure what is going on here, but it's definitely shady business. I finished eating all you can eat standard option. The standard option is $29.99 per person. I received a check for my table with the waitress saying after dropping off the check "there is already tip included, it is restaurant policy". After arguing with her that there isn't even a law to tip a waiter/waitress she brought the check back and rewrote the check. She then gave me the check in the picture, which is a check for 2 dishes and not all you can eat. I didn't notice it at first, because I saw the price went down so I didn't mind or care. So I put my credit card down for this receipt which totaled to $48 instead of $60 for all you can eat. She then comes back with a DIFFERENT receipt with our actual orders and that totalled out to $66, which was correct. First off, they tried already including a 20% in the bill and saying that it's policy. And they can't do anything. I had to literally argue and say I'm not paying anything unless you let me tip my own amount. And they also gave me the wrong check, to which I put my card down for? Then, when they swiped my card, is when they gave the real check. That is really shady business. I've been going here since they've opened. Menu prices are going up, and business is shady. Waitress always has an attitude too. These people are only money hungry. TIP IS MANDATORY! This also happened the last time I was here, which was a month ago. That was the first time they ever happened to me. I didn't care at first, because it was too late when I caught on they included tip. This time, I remembered and caught on earlier. First time here and i didn't really expect much. I knew coming in that it was AYCE. For me with a small stomach, I knew I had to be hungry. I went with my partner and we got the standard AYCE. We only ordered beef, pork and bulgogi. We also had some steamed egg, cheese corn, and a plethora of fish cakes and kimchi. We only went two rounds and we were both full. For the AYCE concept, it was kinda expensive especially if you have a small stomach. Expect to not eat for the rest of the day. I've been to Hello Tokyo a few times and would get nose slapped by some tasty cloud. I figured it came from next door but it looked like nothing, and I wrongly assumed hole in the wall. Had a crap day so we decided we need to try this ayce korean bbq. Its certainly nicer and bigger than what it looks like outside. Dont judge a korean book by its cover. First time ever trying an ayce korean bbq. For starters, they have a good selection of banchan. I snacked a little and wanted to save my carnivore appetite for the proteins. They had kimbap too! It was actually really good but I'm not Korean so I might have lower standards. I think it tasted better than Hmarts....not joong boo's but I find myself wishing I had a few pieces days later. But again. My stomach was earmarked for the meats. The dipping sauce is the best! I would slather the oil on everything! As for the main course, the meats, we tried the brisket (upon waitress recommendation), beef bulgogi, miso pork belly, shrimp and got a second brisket. The bulgogi was ok, pretty thick. Pork belly was too much and I guess it isn't a great meat to grill. Kind of salty and ended up chewy but this could just be my lack of cooking/flipping skills or not knowing when to take them off the grill. The shrimp was just plain shrimp with the head. Skip that if you are considering. The shell was hard to peel off and not worth the effort. The brisket was the best. Our waitress told us not to cook it too crispy but we thought that was the tastiest route. They do occasionally come by to change your grill and refill water which is nice. We didn't feel ignored or anything. It was our first time there so the initial threat of charging for uneaten meat did loom over us. I was hassling my sister, eat that chewy pork belly, you picked it! I also wish their meat portions were smaller so we could try more things on the menu, I feel like they do that on purpose. I'm when we ordered a second brisket, we asked for a little bit but they brought a full order anyway. I wasn't sure if it was the language barrier or they just don't want to do that. Definitely give this place a try and see if you can sample small portions. We didn't leave normal buffet style stuffed but we were a little stuffed. In the last year of so I've been here 3 times and I can't say that I've ever really had a bad experience here. It's AYCE Korean BBQ, but they do stratify it with premium cuts being a higher price point. The joke's on them though because I basically love chadol-which is unmarinated thinly slice rib-eye and their different varieties of samgyupsal which is in the mid-range option which means I don't have to venture out into Premium land to get my meat sweats. So, this may be my experience but I would say load up on the beef a lot, the thin cuts make cooking really quick and if you're with a hungry group of 4 it goes quick. If you're with your family and some of them are elderly I'd maybe start with their samgyupsal because it takes a little while to cook and then you can talk or whatever normal people do while they wait for their food. The samgyupsal cuts are marinated in different stuff, they even have a wine one but there honestly isn't much difference except for the garlic one which can either have a lot of garlic flavor or none, depending on how long it was marinating for. Service is pretty good, the ladies are usually pretty attentive and they'll happily refill your veggies for you but make sure to let you know that the buffet has all the other stuff you'd need. My brother in law wanted regular soju but I overrode him and got an apple flavored one, the lady badgered me about how it's usually popular with women, which made my BiL laugh to no end. I will probably end up here again at the next birthday for a family member so I really don't have any complaints. read more

Came on a Sunday night with my girlfriend and her family - easily one of the better Korean bbq experiences I've had. Service was attentive! They noticed I had a couple finger splints and immediately offered me a fork (since their set up is a pair of chopsticks and a spoon). Filled water/tea quickly, changed out the grill plates frequently, and checked in regularly. They were friendly with every encounter and I feel that that's often missed at other places. Menu was pretty decent! $32 for standard dinner, and $38 for the deluxe AYCE menu. We opted for the standard and no complaints. Meats/seafood came out promptly. They had a buffet kind of set up for the banchan which I've never seen before. Kind of nice if you prefer some dishes over others and can constantly refill! The rice and soft tofu stew were also self served on the side. Mostly enjoyed the brisket and pork belly - our go tos and very tasty! Usually recommend to skip poultry at AYCE Korean bbq because of how long it takes to cook. Everything else was a solid choice. This is my first visit ever to a Korean barbecue and it was so fun. The restaurant was not exactly what I expected, and actually felt more like a typical Chinese buffet place. The restaurant was perhaps 1/3 full when we were there. It was busy enough yet not too busy, quite enough yet with enough chatter in the background at other tables to feel like you were in a busy restaurant. Our server checked on us frequently and she was very friendly. She also gave us good information about the Korean food, condiments, Etc. Unfortunately, I don't remember the names of the different beef offerings, and the other items, but I can tell you that I kept eating and eating and eating! :-) I thoroughly enjoyed all of the different cuts and flavors, and the different hot sauces and so on to dip your meat into. The meat was all really nicely cooked and delicious! My friends and I drink mostly water but did have some cocktails and beers and all were adequate. What does one expect when you see a restaurant called "BBQ Garden" in what feels like a dying American mall? Not much, but when you're inside, it's a whole lot os sights and smells going on. The interior feels like a blast into the 90s. The random fountain right as you enter reminds me of being in a mall but make for good group photos. All of the seating is either to the left or right of the restaurant so there is really ample space. Self-serve banchan bar is very nice too. You can go and grab whatever sides your hearts desire to go with your meat. If you need assistance, the kind ajummas around will gladly help bring some over. They have everything from kimchee to potato salad to pickled radish. The meat selection here shines as well. You can choose from the regular, Deluxe, or whatever it is above deluxe. We were fine with the 2nd tier since the most expensive option wouldn't be adding anything substantial to justify the price difference. We focused primarily on ordering LA Kalbi today which ended up being the best cut of meat. Pork cheek was recommended to us and we thought it was fine, but nothing like the kalbi. The servers help cook and replace the grills for you as well so the service here is definitely on point. Okay, the reason to why I don't have any pictures for this place, is because I was with a group of 6 and 4 of those people has never been to an AYCE Korean bbq. We tried to go to IRON AGE but we have to wait for two hours on a Tuesday afternoon! That was crazy, who will wait to eat lunch after two hours when we got there at 2:00 pm! Iron Age will not accept reservations unless your group have 8 people! So, if there is six of you, make the reservation for 8 people and when you get there, fake it and tell them that the other are running late etc. Okay enough venting. I am glad that we have not gotten a table at Iron Age or we would have not seen this restaurant. It is way bigger than Iron Age!!! They are not as fancy as the other restaurants but they offer all you can eat Korean BBQ and they have TABLES AVAILABLE!!!! The meats were good and the only challenge was that they don't bring you the banchan, they have them on the Buffett tables which included the rice and soup. To me, that was a good thing because we don't have to keep on asking the staff to bring us some more. There were some things I did not like and that is they only gave us 1 pair of scissors and YOU HAVE TO PAY for the lettuce, if you want some. REALLY? How can you have Korean BBQ without the lettuce!!!! And they forgot to bring us the steamed eggs that I ordered, I JUST let it slide because I did want my friends to enjoy the restaurant for their first time eating Korean BBQ. Every time my family and I visit, from start to finish, the staff are friendly and hospitable. Some even dote on my Asian-mixed grandson, maybe because he is Korean like them. We decided on the AYCE. There are 3 different levels. Standard: $24.99 pp Deluxe: $29.99 pp Premium: $36.99 pp We opted for the standard as we were satisfied with their options. The AYCE included steamed egg, soft tofu stew (self served and should be a little hotter), and corn with cheese which is always a plus! The ban chan provided was very basic and nothing special. I typically order a lot of brisket. The brisket was cut a bit thicker than my personal preference but appropriate for the price. I also ordered the Naengmyeon. You can never be too full from AYCE KBBQ from a bowl of Naengmyeon. It's very refreshing after a heavy meal. Service was hit or miss. We had 3 different servers that took turns with our table. 1/3 was hard to deal with and the other 2 were friendly and fast. They kept up with our meat orders and refilled all our side requests promptly (garlic, sauce, kimchi, etc). One thing I was disappointed in was that they did not have lettuce wraps available. Hopefully this will change in the future. If you're looking for an AYCE KBBQ, I would recommend BBQ Garden. I think it's definitely worth the drive for the city folks. We sat down to try. I would go back there anytime I want Korean BBQ!!! The exhaust system is phenomenal. Walking through the restaurant you don't see or smell the smoke or see the fumes from the grills. They have the exhaust fan that pull down and hovers over the grill. So as the food is grilling the exhaust is working. So you walk out not smelling like bbq. But if you can't see the person across from you and you push it up, they will come and pull it down. There are few menu choices with different prices. Within the price it lists at least 10 options of meat/seafood for grilling. The price started at $24.99 and went as high as $109.00. So many choices of meat and cuts of meat. We chose the low option for $24.99. It included the hot bar. But the hot bar didn't have much: chicken wings, soup and a few others. About 8 selections. Advice: stick with the grilling and skip the hot bar. We had octopus, marinated pork, beef and shrimp. We had a couple helpings of meat. Well worth the price for what you choose. Came by for lunch. Service was good, ambiance casual and food was great. When rating relatively...very impressive side dish options. Finally a Korean bbq with loads of sides dishes that you can get yourself without any constraints (proper buffet). Get as many as you like, get it all if you want. Also, the marinades on the proteins were memorable. Didn't need much dipping sauce because the flavors were distinctive. Certainly will be back again. read more
