I'd go just for the fries. Oddly they come with about 3 onion rings on top which makes a nice addition. I love to support local business so stumbled on this place while working out of town. This spot is as real as it gets. The lady taking the orders is very friendly. Don't be intimidated by how small the spot is. What the they lack in size they certainly make up for in taste and flavor. The mushroom Swiss burger is with the perfect blend of cheese and juicy mushrooms. I also had to try the pastrami sandwich and I'm so glad I did. Anyone who loves pastrami sandwiches knows it can be hard to find a good one and this may be the best one I've ever had! The sandwich was packed, not with fatty and stringy slices but the leanest and most tender shaved pastrami you'll find! Super good flavor! Both burgers weren't at all sloppy and just thrown together but rather wrapped very well. I especially appreciated the vibe with the loud oldies music playing, great touch. There are a ton of burger places around and the burgers here are all pretty good, but I'm here to talk about the LA dog. Sometimes I just crave a good hotdog, and honestly it's a hard thing to come by unless you want to grill it yourself. But this LA dog is sooooooo good. First of all it's ginormous. Second, it's wrapped in bacon. And lastly it is friggen delicious. I think it's 8 or 9 bucks? But you don't need fries or a side just the dog is a full meal. We wanted to find a good burger place on the central coast. We found Jim's. Seemed like a hole in the wall place. Very small, kind of old. But goodness, the burger was delicious! I got the mushroom and Swiss burger basket. The burger was so juicy, so cheesy. It hit the spot. I was only sad that I got only 2 onion rings though. But you can tell it was hand made. Went here for the first time and food was good. I ordered the Buffalo chicken sandwich combo and my husband got the LA dogs. He ordered two thinking they would be the average size dogs. When we saw the price for one (9 bucks) we were kinda shocked, but then they came out and it made sense lol they are huge. My husband can eat and he couldn't finish both of them. Another good burger joint to choose from here in town. I use to come here when it was called Jim's Pastrami but slowed down after easing fast food. Their Pastrami sandwiches where the best in town and I imagine they are still great but today I was craving a burger. For the wife and I we ordered 2 double burgers and one order of French fries. The meat was grilled perfect, the right amount of tomato and lettuce. But I needed more so I placed a slice of onion with it. The French fries were great, not too oily and crisp. I started on the fries because I hate cold fries, I hate half of them then started on the hamburger. I was so glad I could finish eating the whole burger, my wife couldn't eat the fries, so I threw them away. That's what happens when you get old, just can't eat like we used to. Eat at Jim's! Today was my 2nd visit to Jim's burgers because I had to go back for their Mushroom and Swiss burger. Well-seasoned beef, stretchy Swiss cheese, and caramelized onions make this my new favorite burger. My husband enjoyed the fish and chips and said it was (almost) as good as the fish he ate in Seattle. My son loved the BLT. Jim's tri tip sandwich is so bomb. The best I've had so far from a restaurant. Wish they had it everyday not just on Friday. The only thing I would change is the amount of time you spend waiting. First impression: Quaint little burger joint, this could go very well. I ordered the 1/4lb special because I wanted to judge this place on the burger. The service wasn't terrible, it was pretty much on par for what could be for such a small little burger joint. No complaints. The burger was meh. Tasted ok I guess, but I was definitely not digging how soggy the contents made the whole burger. Too moist but not in a greasy burger way, more of a cold wet moist. Fries were terrible. I shall re-review on a later date after I try the menu again, there are numerous options for things such a pastrami or morning special sandwiches. These burgers are the best I've ever had. The ingredients are extremely fresh. Most businesses will claim this but at Jim's, it's actually true. My cheeseburger was so incredibly tasty that to savor it, it took me an hour to finish it. It's one of those burgers that you have to fully taste. I'm not from the area so don't get to eat this kind of freshness in my area. My mom tried their Mexican burger and felt that it was so filling that she didn't need dinner. My buddy and I came here on a quest for a random local burger joint. Saw it on Broadway and decided to go for it. The parking lot is awkwardly small, and we were in a compact car. The woman running the counter was friendly and patient, since we took awhile staring at the menu. My friend got a California burger with bacon in a lettuce wrap and I just got a plain old cheeseburger. We were stoked to see an auto race on the TV to pass the time while they prepared our burgers. They called our number and the burgers came on a nice old school red tray with the checkered paper. Both looked pretty decent, but I gotta say the lettuce wrap was one of the better ones I have seen. The burgers were both well done as the patties were pretty thin. My cheeseburger was pretty damn tasty. The bun was toasted nicely and the burger patty itself was just about the same diameter of the bun which is unusual. I feel like almost every burger joint you have either too much or too little bread, but this was just right. The lettuce and tomato tasted nice and fresh and the beef was good. The burger overall is pretty solid. Nothing spectacular or that knocked my socks off, but it was tasty. I would definitely come back and try some of the other burgers. We came here because of the 4 stars rating this place has. I ordered the Rib Eye Steak Sandwich and my husband the Colossal Burger basket. We both chose the basket which includes fries and a drink but we instead ordered chocolate shakes paying each two dollars more. I really, really wanted to like my sandwich but it was bland. It was a thin piece of grilled rib eye, long enough to cover the roll, which was nicely toasted. It came with lettuce and tomato. Nothing had taste. The fries and onion rings didn't taste fresh and crispy but felt harden somewhat. They may have used frozen ones. Definitely not home made onion rings nor fries. My husband's hamburger was average at best according to him. We also ordered chocolate milkshakes which we enjoyed. Prices are a bit high considering the quality of the food.
