I stopped here because I love me some good soul food and I missed Ribs to Spare. Well they are no association to Ribs to Spare but they are equally as good. Another family run place and they are delightful. I ordered the BBQ Rib special of the day with 3 sides AND the Chicken and Waffle. How could I not have Chicken and Waffle? The Ribs (pork) were cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The sauce was a savory tomato based sauce which was good, I just prefer a sweet sauce. The man n cheese was good but I'd like it with more sauce and cheese. The cole slaw was light and delicious though personally I like it with more juice. The baked beans were amazing. The highlight for me was the Chicken and Waffle. It was the best I've had, putting Roscoes to shame. The Chicken was meaty wings with a perfect batter and cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all, probably some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The Waffle, soaked in butter and syrup, was huge and absolutely delicious. breakfast burrito had very, very burnt potatoes , what looked like frozen hash brown patties. Not sure if any seasoning was used on the eggs ..if there was , it was probably covered up by the burnt taste. Salsa or ketchup would have been a good bandaid but they charge for a little container of flavorless watery salsa. I came here about three years ago for lunch and thought it was alright so I thought i'd give it a shot. My lady friend wasn't too impressed with her burrito either. barely any hot links , skimped her out. I think this place is a little overrated, too expensive to be cheap on ingredients . I don't mean to be rude , only honest . I believe the good reviews are from people with no taste/ never had excellent soul food. The Collard and yams are obviously canned. Cmon lol on a positive note , the staff was friendly and the playlist of music was good.. Gotta go back to the drawing board if you can't make a good breakfast burrito. We were in the neighborhood and looking for a place to eat. I was checking good ol Yelp for a place with good breakfast. I came across BB's cafe and saw all the good reviews. I saw they had chicken and waffles, that was enough to peak my interest. There is only street parking and the place is small. Don't let the size fool you, because their hospitality and food more than makes up for the size of the place. As soon as we walked in, Michele greeted us with a smile and hello. It felt like she was an old friend that was welcoming us back. The energy and vibe here is awesome. My wife and I split the pulled pork sandwich and the chicken with waffles. The pulled pork sandwich came with fries and coleslaw. I would have liked a little more sauce on it, but other than that it was pretty good. The pork was tender and had really good flavor. I wasn't a fan of the coleslaw, but it was fine. The chicken with waffles is what did it for me. You get three wings with a side of hot sauce. The chicken came out hot and crispy, when split open it was very juicy on the inside. They know how to do waffles too. They give you two dollops of butter, as any waffle should have. It had a hint of cinnamon and I believe vanilla. It was one of the best waffles I have had. I was actually sad when my meal was done. The people alone would be enough to bring me back. They were super friendly and made you feel at home. The amazing food seals the deal. I highly recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. read more

I was a student in Azusa for four years and recently moved back after purchasing my first house here. It's been a year since I moved in and I've always been on the lookout for the best independently-owned businesses to support. BB's Cafe has been by far the most rewarding find. You truly don't find many Black female-owned businesses in this area, and BB's not only brings you the quality of food, but the satisfaction of seeing good people succeed at something they obviously love to do: create amazing food! I had the fried catfish for my first purchase here and it was absolutely incredible. I'll be going back very soon to try out their chicken and waffles which I can only imagine will be just as delicious. If I can persuade anybody to give this little hole-in-the-wall spot a try, you truly won't regret it. The cafe is small and there are not many tables to eat at inside so I would plan to take your meal to-go. I wouldn't even call that a negative though, because the food smelled so good on my trip back home my mouth was watering before I even walked in my door. I only wish for the best for BB's future in Covina -- there's just nothing like it and as a new member of this community, my hope is that more and more businesses like this show up and diversify the area. Waffles...for some reason the consistency reminds me of mochi. It was almost as if I was eating a chewy doughnut coupled with golden syrup. Regardless, their waffles are amazing.
