Good Grub, Southern Comfort Soul food! My friend had the Chicken and Waffles, which is their signature dish. Enjoy for breakfast, lunch or dinner! I'm not judging, any time is the right time for this one! I had the Pulled Pork on a sesame seed bun with mild sauce. The meat was tender and delicious. For the side dish I had a scoop of their Mac n Cheese, reminds me of my Grandmother's cooking. I also had onion rings, which were perfectly seasoned and not oily or greasy. This little cafe is small, but their home-cooking and family recipes pack a big punch! They are so nice and helped me make my decision because there was so many of my favorites it was not easy to choose (shrimp, ribs and hot links!!). Street parking is limited, they do not have a private lot, there is a parking structure one block north, its easy to find across from the Metrolink train station. BB's Cafe reminds me of going to a family friends cook out. They serve you the freshly made food in bio degradable plates and I think it adds to the family cook out feel. I ordered the entree waffle and the pulled pork breakfast burrito. Both were delicious! The waffle was warm and the breakfast burrito was a unique soulfood-Mexican fusion that works really well! The location is right off the street, so it is convenient to pull up and grab your to go order. They have a clean sitting area, and have flyers for local events that I appreciate too. You can tell it's a positive business to the local community. The staff is friendly and helps you make decisions if you're a first time customer. They recommend the chicken and waffles and breakfast burritos. The only thing I would have liked was to have water with ice. They only have canned beverages and bottled water. I'm not a big soft drink person, so having water with ice would have been nice.

The food is wonderful! Freshly cooked crispy chicken and waffles reminded me of my Nana and my Mom's cooking. We used their catering service to get a pan of prepared uncooked Mac and cheese for our family's Easter celebration. The directions were spot on. Our family recommends the sweet potatoes and greens too!

We decided to come here after church because of yelp review. It did not frustrate our expectations. The food is great. The chicken, waffle, and fries. They have limited seating that can only occupy 12 people on three tables. But service rendered by DK is awesome. The price for the food we eat is considerably cheap. I will give this experience with 4.8.

BB's Cafe serves fresh ingredients and cooks to order. The Chicken (4 pieces) & Waffle costs $14.95. There's no line, and I waited 11 minutes. I arrived 9AM on a weekend. The chicken is freshly cooked. The skin is lightly crisp and dry. The chicken is not oily; rather, the ingredients taste clean and fresh. The pieces are small, and its bone is thick. The chicken had very little seasoning. It's a freshly cooked chicken with little flavor. The warm, thick waffle is more memorable than the chicken. The waffle is firm, fluffy, and filling. The melted butter and syrup added to the waffle's savory taste. BB's Cafe is small. There's three small tables with chairs inside. There's no bathroom for customers; the server recommended walking across the street to use the park's bathroom. Thankfully, they provide a tiny hand-wipe for customers to wipe their hands. Also, BB's Cafe does not offer water in a cup; if customers want water, they need to purchase a water bottle. In addition, the indoor dining area is chilly from the open door. Bring a jacket if you want to eat inside this winter. And parking is very limited. If customers can't find nearby street parking, customers must park across the street and walk over. I recommend ordering to-go. The staff is welcoming and friendly. They greet the customer as you enter and leave. Overall, BB's Cafe is a good experience. The food is fresh. It's not unique, memorable food, but it's a satisfying bite.

First time in the area and found BB's Cafe on Yelp so I had to try a Black Owned Restaurant and it did NOT disappoint. Michelle was SO KIND and knows how to hold a conversation. I learned more about her and her mom, BB. BB even greeted me. Customer service is TOP TIER!!! Now.... I had chicken and waffles. The price point is what really had me. But then the FOOD is literally chef's kiss. The chicken was fried so perfectly, golden and season so well. It was just right. The waffle is a waffle but it was GOOD. I really wanted the 5 piece chicken and to order Mac and cheese until I was saddened to hear there was no more Mac and cheese. I also went an hour prior to them closing. But I originally did go for chicken and waffles and I was satisfied. It is a small location and have about 3 tables that sit 4. I found a parking spot right in front of the restaurant so I was content but there are a lot of open spots. It is a great location and perfect for a nice to go order. I can't wait to come back because Michelle made me feel like family and BB's food is to brag about. I can't wait to try more if I am in the area again.

This tiny store front is really intended to be a pick up location rather than a sit down restaurant. There is some seating, but only for a maximum of 12 inside. Their specialty is their fried chicken and waffles. I loved their chicken, with its very southern, deliciously seasoned cornmeal crust. It made the pieces come out quite juicy and flavorful, and had a great crunch. I only wish they were full pieces, not 4 smaller but plump, wing parts. The waffle was not my favorite. I prefer a crisp crust. This one was spongy made from a relatively bland batter. But they did serve it with real butter, and butter goes a long ways to improving the shortcomings. I popped my leftovers in my toaster the next day, and that helped. I ordered an extra side of Mac & cheese (for research purposes, of course!) but it did not win my heart either. I am always on the hunt for a sharp Cheddar cheese recipe, and this tasted more creamy, like American cheese quality. I am also a big fan of a buttery baked crumb topping, but this had none. If we returned, I would most likely buy the chicken by the piece and skip the sides. Peach Cobbler, just ok. The crust was too doughy for my tastes and lacking in flavor as compared to another cobbler we had purchased that same day from a different Soul Food restaurant. The filling was also quite soupy. They also offer smoked meats which they smoke in a different location. Mr B ordered a brisket sandwich to go, which he later described as being too lean for his tastes. It had plenty of meat and was sauced up with a good tasting, sweet Bbq sauce. This came with a choice of 1 side. The employees were very sweet and attentive. And the prices were reasonable. I only saw parking on the street. Not sure if more is needed, actually, considering they are so tiny.

Ok first of all, let me issue this disclaimer...I am tough on soul food. With being from New Orleans, it's difficult to impress me with soul food. Now that that's out of the way... Mac n cheese - good Baked beans - really good Greens -ok Chicken wings - good Hush puppies - good and I don't normally like hush puppies Catfish - so so Potato salad - I didn't like it Red koolaide - very good Just my opinion...try it for yourself read more

I am from the south, so knowing what it is suppose to taste like you tend to compare every place that claims they have soul food to what you grew up eating. I had to check the kitchen to make sure they didn't fly my Mama over here to help them out. The Mac N Cheese and Peach Cobbler are exactly like my Mom's. The collard greens are exactly the way I make them, but a touch salty. The breakfast burrito with bacon was so delicious with lots of flavor, but just needs to be wrapped a little better. Salsa for the burrito was good. My husband had the hot link sandwich and said it was really good. The sweet tea was light on the tea and mostly sugar, but still good. Maybe just add more tea bags and that would make it perfect. Hush puppies were exactly the way they are made where I grew up, but they usually serve them with cocktail or tarter sauce. The place is very small and has only 3 tables on the inside, but still comfortable. Also, it looks as though there is only street parking. It is very clean and decorated nicely. The service is exceptional and everyone was very friendly. And to quote what my husband told the owner, "It's slap yo' mama good." Silly man. We will definitely be back to try out more of their menu items. Delicious! read more

BB's Cafe is outstanding. Soul food that truly feeds your soul. We had the breakfast burritos. OMG they were outstanding. We ordered fried chicken, collard greens, mac and cheese, Cole shaw, baked beans, and a hot link sausage sandwich. The food was seasoned perfectly. The portions were very good. But the prices are unbelievably low. The customer service is friendly and professional. It was such a pleasure to enter into the restaurant and see people smiling and to be greeted by the young lady taking our order with a smile on her face also. I completely support this restaurant and pray success for this business. Try the food for yourselves and you will see and taste my point. read more

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this mom and pop shop on Yelp when we were craving for waffles. Man was I glad I came here instead of driving all the way to Pasadena for Roscoe's. Michelle really did treat us like family and made sure we felt welcome. The menu was very simple, which was easy to just pick chicken and waffles (I'd usually order almost everything on the menu :D) Chicken and waffles: DELISH. The buttery, crispy and puffy waffle was so AMAZINGLY DELISH. The chicken wings were fried perfectly, not too burnt and not too much breading. The chicken came with this hot sauce I believe it's Buffalo? So bomb. I wish they had fried liver :( but it's okay, I still love their waffle. If you're in the Covina area, definitely come check this place out. They've only been open for 6 months. read more

Amazing! The waffles are HUGE and delicious! Such a cute tiny little restaurant! The people are so nice and outgoing. Got lucky & found a parking spot right outside the cafe. Wasn't busy & received our food at a good time. Chicken & waffles are bomb! They give you syrup & hot sauce on the side. I also ordered the pulled pork sandwich, with Mac & cheese and baked beans. Mac & cheese was alright, but the beans were bomb. & the side of pickles compliments the pulled pork sandwich very well. Also order the kool aid, it was okay, I've had better. But overall this place was very good! & the people are very nice and welcoming. read more

My experience was polar opposite of the reviews I saw here. In a way I thought I was visiting the wrong place. This is a little cafe in downtown Covina. The place is very small with little decor, which I had no problem with. I'm here for the food and nothing else. The staffs are friendly. I can see it is a family own business. And this is what the extra one star for. And that's about it. I ordered the chicken and waffle, ribs and collar green for the side. First of all, the food is pricey, considering the portion was given. I believe the waffle and chicken is about $10. I had only 3 small wings and a saggy waffle on the paper plates. The chicken tasted fine. It's good but not out of the world. It's something I can easily find in many fried chicken shop. The waffle is not crispy. As I said earlier it was quite saggy. It felt like it was sitting outside for a while. The ribs are NOT falling out of bone kind of soft, and it is dry. Some parts are so hard I didn't want to eat it. Again it is pricey at 12 or 13 dollars with few pieces of ribs. Also the food takes a long time, almost 45 mins to come to the table. I'm sorry to say I won't be back again. read more

Like most people that are probably reading this, I'd driven past BB's a bunch of times, always meaning to try the food. I'm telling you right now, if you see that "open" sign up, do yourself a favor and pull up to some soul food. BB's is open until about 4:30 or 5, making it a great place to pick up brunch, lunch, or dinner on the way home from work. Orders are prepared quickly, and the option to phone your order ahead makes it an even more convenient stop. There are 3 tables in the dining area, with a cozy bench outside to wait for your order. I stopped by BB's at around 12:30 and took a look at the menu. Lunch specials featured ribs or catfish with two sides, or a pulled pork sandwich with fries and coleslaw. Michelle, who on her own makes the trip worth it, took my order. Cut to the chase: the food is delicious. I had the rib lunch special with mac n cheese and fries. The ribs were super tender. TBH I destroyed those ribs almost immediately. The mac n cheese was also great. I'm not a mac n cheese connoisseur or anything, but this wasn't your run-of-the-mill instant mix. There were at least two kinds of real cheese in there, and its cooked in a way that leaves some of the cheese slightly toasted. Finally, the fries. I'm a sucker for some steak fries, I'll just put that out there. Also, it seems like fries are kind of a no-brainer, but these fries were cooked perfectly and the portion came on its very own plate. SOLD. Negatives- before it looks like I'm getting paid for writing this, I probably should point out that drinks are sold by the can for $1.50. This is usually a pet peeve of mine, but it kinda makes sense here bc if there was a fountain out front or free refills I could see people hanging out and taking up tables all day. Anyway, great place, friendly people, and good grub at reasonable prices. Definitely give it a try. read more

Upon entering BB's Cafe, i received a very homey and comforting vibe from the staff and Ms.BB herself. My husband and I ordered the Bacon&Waffle, Chicken&Waffle, Mac&Cheese, with a Red Kool Aid and let me tell you something, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED! We received our food in a timely manner, it was fresh, delicious, and had ZERO complaints. All of their food is priced fairly, tastes more than great, and this all comes along with excellent customer service. Anyone with a right mind would have no choice but to come here and enjoy something from Ms.BB's delicious menu! read more

Ok people I have to say that BB's is a rare find. The service, the music, the price, and above all the food. Wings are off the chain people love them, that hot sauce yum. Waffle while I am not a big waffle guy it is good. Fluffy flavor is on point. The two lady's behind in the kitchen my hats off to you, you have got something really special here. First time trying this& at first glance, it's a little hole in the wall. It's small, about 3 tables, and on the corner of citrus& san bernadino. Inside, the vibe is so friendly and the smell of the fresh food is delightful. I got here about 11, so I ordered a breakfast burrito, and my bf ordered the chicken and waffles. Been wanting to try this place for a long time and made it. I wish I tried it sooner, the food is so flavorful! The waffle was fluffy and buttery, the chicken was perfectly seasoned & fried and juicy (don't forget to dip it in the sauce)! And a side of some yummy mac n cheese. I wanted to like this place but I had ordered the chicken and waffles plus the fried catfish and was NOT impressed. Pros: -The staff was AMAZING -The catfish was amazing -Free hush puppies, yum! Cons: -EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE, EXPENSIVE. You're paying 6$ for a waffle you can make easy at home. Nothing special about it. It's the same waffle you get at a bed n' breakfast at a motel -our Mac n cheese was MICROWAVED from the day before batch. Very stuck together. -NO FLAVOR with the chicken. Just a crispy bland chicken. The fries I ordered were more seasoned than the chicken Sorry BBS. If I ever return it will only be to order some of those delicious hush puppies! read more

Holy shit this place is fantastic I use yelp to alway try to find new places to eat and wow did I hit the lottery with this place. One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever had. The owner I believe helped me out she was very nice I told her how I found this place and she sounded soo humble about it all she had the biggest smile on her face when I told her. The pulled pork breakfast burrito was cooked perfectly the pulled pork potatoes eggs cheese were all seasoned sooo perfect I will definitely be coming back to this place. read more

This place is the bomb. I got the pulled pork sandwich and the meat is so tender and soft. The sauce on the sandwich gives it that extra flavor. Macaroni and Cheese is super bomb as well. Over all this place is super good highly recommend. read more

Omg, where do I begin? This place easily earns it's five-star rating on Yelp. Had a bit of everything today: chicken and waffles, hot links sandwich, mac and cheese, baked beans, and banana pudding. Every single item was on point. Chicken and waffles: came with 3 wings, the chicken was breaded and fried just right with the meat very moist and juicy; the waffle was the right mix of crisp outside with a soft inside with a nice taste, not too sweet. Hot Links sandwich: sliced down the middle and grilled just right, the addition of just a bit of BBQ sauce made this sandwich come together nicely. Mac and cheese: the macaroni was cooked just right, not mushy or overdone, with the right amount of cheese and flavor. Baked beans: I generally don't care for them but I'd have these again. Not too sweet, but full of flavor. Finally, the Banana Pudding: full disclosure, I love banana pudding. This was up there with my favorites. Normally, the Nilla cookies sit with the pudding and becomes soft as it absorbs the moisture. I do like that. However, at BB's, they crumble the cookies in the bottom layer of the cup, like a parfait and layer the pudding, banana, and whipped cream on top. The contrasting textures make the whole thing next level! I know where I'm going next time when I want banana pudding. I'm definitely coming back again. Do yourself a favor and try it for yourself. You won't be disappointed! read more

Went today for the first time. I enjoyed the experience; the place smells great as soon as you walk inside. The staff was very friendly, the food was great, wait time wasn't long and the restaurant was very clean. I also appreciated their decor; a lot of cute sayings and items on the walls. I am in Covina for some business. Of course, there is more traffic than I am accustomed to navigating so I decide to eat local. The highest rated restaurant near me is BB's. I meander over and spot it on the corner, park on the street and walk up. My first thought, "Has the Yelp community been wrong? Rarely if ever! So, I enter. I'm greeted by a pitch up menu, window paintings and a "Come in! We're Open" sign. I'm instantly greeted by the owner running the order window and kitchen. I ask for recommendations; The Breakfast Burrito is heavy and tasty, but the Chicken and Waffle is the meal I would everyday. So I choose the more unique item as I come from San Diego and consume breakfast burritos weekly. The decor keeps me entertained while I wait 10 minutes for fresh food. I am given coffee, real molasses, and maple syrup followed by a Waffle with butter and a plate of 3 fried chicken pieces. Everything is piping hot, freshly cooked and presented, as is expected of a 5 star eatery. The chicken is very juicy! At least 10x superior to KFC, fo sho. The waffle is a bit soft but melds well with the butter and syrup; didn't get soggy even though I finished it last. Friendly staff, delightful neighborhood food and good music makes for a Great Experience. read more

I was a student in Azusa for four years and recently moved back after purchasing my first house here. It's been a year since I moved in and I've always been on the lookout for the best independently-owned businesses to support. BB's Cafe has been by far the most rewarding find. You truly don't find many Black female-owned businesses in this area, and BB's not only brings you the quality of food, but the satisfaction of seeing good people succeed at something they obviously love to do: create amazing food! I had the fried catfish for my first purchase here and it was absolutely incredible. I'll be going back very soon to try out their chicken and waffles which I can only imagine will be just as delicious. If I can persuade anybody to give this little hole-in-the-wall spot a try, you truly won't regret it. The cafe is small and there are not many tables to eat at inside so I would plan to take your meal to-go. I wouldn't even call that a negative though, because the food smelled so good on my trip back home my mouth was watering before I even walked in my door. I only wish for the best for BB's future in Covina -- there's just nothing like it and as a new member of this community, my hope is that more and more businesses like this show up and diversify the area. BB, you can expect me in the very near future! I'll never stop raving about the food! read more

Delicious! In town for a sport event and had a hankering for waffles. THIS IS THE SPOT! Small menu but everything we ordered was made with love and pride. Can taste it in the thick, perfectly cooked bacon. The fried chicken looked amazing. A great selection of burritos, but I came for the waffle. It did not disappoint. Thanks BB's! read more

My husband and I came here on our way home from the airport. And we were starvingggggg. We found this place through yelp and thought we'd give it a try. OMG. I'm so glad that we did. The food is mouth wateringly delicious. I got the potato burrito and it had a nice little crunch to it (from the potatoes) and so much flavor. They only gave me one thing of salsa though, I would recommend asking for two. My husband got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were nice and soft and the chicken had a light crunchy batter but and the chicken was soo moist. Both of them together was really really good. My husband said that he thought it was better than Roscoes. We also shared the banana pudding, I had never had banana pudding before but this one was really good. They have like crumbled vanilla wafer and/or graham crackers (not sure but it was bomb). I will definitely spread the word about this place, and we will be back soon BB's! read more

I stopped here because I love me some good soul food and I missed Ribs to Spare. Well they are no association to Ribs to Spare but they are equally as good. Another family run place and they are delightful. I ordered the BBQ Rib special of the day with 3 sides AND the Chicken and Waffle. How could I not have Chicken and Waffle? The Ribs (pork) were cooked to perfection, falling off the bone. The sauce was a savory tomato based sauce which was good, I just prefer a sweet sauce. The man n cheese was good but I'd like it with more sauce and cheese. The cole slaw was light and delicious though personally I like it with more juice. The baked beans were amazing. The highlight for me was the Chicken and Waffle. It was the best I've had, putting Roscoes to shame. The Chicken was meaty wings with a perfect batter and cooked to perfection. Not greasy at all, probably some of the best fried chicken I've ever had. The Waffle, soaked in butter and syrup, was huge and absolutely delicious. Together they are enough to make you moan in ecstasy. I'll be back A LOT! The menu is very limited right now which is understandable for a small and new place, but what they have will win you over. read more

Thin crust pizzas were good, a bit greasy with the pepperoni, but flavorful. The pizza with the sausage and hot honey was good. Again, nice crisp pizza crust on the two we ordered. Large enough to be shared amongst 10+ adults. Service was great. Seriously, beyond the a-typical pizza joint. All seemed to be runners by young staffers, that seemed to actually care about the customer. Great communication and eager to greet you when you approached the pick-up window. Seriously at levels of in-n-out or chick-fil-a. The areas within this small storefront was clean and tidy. Staff took time to Make sure old receipts were picked up and thrown away and counters wiped down.

BB's Cafe's slogan should be "come hungry, and leave as family". My Family and my self (group of 10) are staying near by on vacation, and were looking for a place for breakfast. A quick google search lead us to BB's, and it did not disappoint! It's has a small seating area, and a simple menu. All the food was cooked by Mom and everything was amazing, and delicious. What truly made this experience was Michelle. She took our order, severed our food, and made our day. Warm, friendly, and funny. Was brought here with my friend since he recommended it. Super friendly staff, made me smile as soon as I walked in the door they made me feel as if I were at home. I woke up this morning craving some waffles, so I stopped in this place because of it's 5 star rating...and I can't even lie, it was pretty good. I wish they had more available hot sauces, but overall it was a great experience. The waffles were moist and the chicken was nice and crisp. This is probably my favorite place in OC. If you're going to splurge, this is the right place. It is located in a plaza and they have so many different kinds of brwakfast which in my opinion are the best in town.
