Before the work began, I communicated with John Patrick by text and email, providing photos of the existing fixtures and the ceiling fans I wanted installed. Unfortunately, after the installation, I immediately noticed several issues. The outdoor ceiling fan wobbled and made a humming noise, while the ceiling fan in my primary bedroom was unbalanced and its light would not work. John Patrick told me the primary bedroom fan's light kit was defective and that I would need to obtain a replacement. Regarding the outdoor fan, he said it was "as good as he could get it." After he left, I also noticed a red electrical wire protruding from beneath the mounting canopy of the living room fan. I contacted the ceiling fan manufacturer, who promptly sent a replacement light kit under warranty. I then reached out to John Patrick to complete the repair. He scheduled two appointments, rescheduled one of them, and ultimately failed to show up for the final appointment without any communication. At that point, I hired another handyman to inspect and correct the installation. He discovered that the ceiling fans could not be properly balanced because essential installation hardware--including nuts and screws--had never been installed. He also determined that the light kit was not defective at all; it had simply been connected incorrectly during the installation. Once the missing hardware was installed and the wiring was corrected, all of the issues were resolved. At the conclusion of the original job, John Patrick requested full payment and assured me that he would return to address any issues that arose. Trusting his commitment, I paid him in full via Zelle and even included a tip. After repeated attempts to have him honor his promise and receiving no response, I ultimately filed a claim through Zelle. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. Unfortunately, my experience with Cypress Handyman did not reflect the level of workmanship, professionalism, or customer service I expected. I regret not sharing this experience sooner, as it may help other homeowners make a more informed decision before hiring John Patrick of Cypress Handyman. I have also advised my realtor not to refer Cypress Handyman to future clients.

On my latest install, they were professional from start to finish, although not perfect in some areas (more on that later). I'll start with the issues, and then close with the positives. On our first house, I encountered some disappointing challenges during the execution/installation phase. Our garden was trampled on, one of the windows were installed on the wrong spot, and a light fixture was damaged and the crew tried (poorly) fixing it without notifying me (all caught on CCTV). With all that said though, the company stands by doing the right thing and resolved everything on a timely manner. How it was handled was much appreciated and influenced me to use them again and refer others. On our second house, almost everything went smoothly. All windows were replaced in just two days! Just encountered a minor hiccup when a wall was damaged and a worker claimed it was pre-existing. Luckily, I purposely took before-photos and was able to provide evidence that it was not pre-existing. In the end, it was fixed within satisfaction. As for the positives, I really have to give credit to Milton, the supervisor on the second house. He was very professional and accommodating. On one of the windows, he found water damage and pointed it out to me instead of trying to cover it up. The damage and source were all fixed. Seriously, he could have moved on and I would have never known! All the windows were installed to my satisfaction. Few minor quirks remained, but possibly due to the window manufacture (or so I was explained). Also appreciate how floors snd countertops are covered to prevent/reduce damage and dust. I recommend this company. Here are some tips before using them (or any other window company): - Take lots of photos of each window before the work starts. Ensure to get several close ups and different angles of the trim and corners, both inside and out. Ensure good lighting for a useful photo. - Check with your HOA to see if it's the window replacements are allowed. Some care about colors of trim and grid vs non-grid. - Expect the order to take several months to come in. Get your quote early if it's a house you plan on moving in.

So I asked if we can move the start date up. He and his wife, Erica (then-fiancée, who now manages and procures for the business) moved their schedule around to accommodate my request. He is very dedicated to the work. I learned that they got married in the middle of our project. He just took 2 days off; got married in the weekend and was back to work on Monday! Sorry, Noah and Erica. He appears to have an artist's eye; made sure to put quarter rounds even inside the closets (which are largely hidden from view, see picture). He laid the planks vertically from the front door instead of horizontally (which, if done, would have cut the flow from the entrance). He matched the quarter rounds with the existing baseboards, so that if the latter has a small angled side, he would cut a small piece of the quarter round to fit that small side, instead of just doing a right angle. It looks aesthetically finished, instead of just looking "done". Erica is the same. When Noah was running late going home, he sent her a photo of what he thought was a finished job. She saw that some of corners and door-jamb trims did not have quarter rounds. She told him he had to do them. They're a good team. Noah is straightforward and very amiable. He explains what he does and is never impatient with questions, however inane. He is generous with his knowledge and is willing to teach how things work. He finished the job right on schedule, which allowed us to spend New Year's Eve in our new home. Fast forward to a couple of months after. He came back to fix our sprinklers that sprang leaks. He diagnosed the problem and made adjustments to make the existing system work. When you hire this business, you are assured of a job well-done.
