Came here last night with my family after it was highly recommended by my daughter. We tried the tofu soup, short ribs, fried tofu, bulgogi, and teriyaki chicken. Overall, the food was good. I especially loved the short ribs--tender and flavorful. The fried tofu was also a nice surprise. The bulgogi was a bit too sweet for me, and the teriyaki chicken came out a little dry for my taste, but everything else was enjoyable. A solid spot for a comforting meal. Only gave 4 stars also because we came out of the place and our clothes smelled smoky. read more

I love this place so much. I've grown up in Irvine, and BCD is a staple for me. I always go for the Soon Tofu Original Beef with Spicy level Danger. It is absolutely delicious. But besides the soon tofu itself, the sides here are top notch. I absolutely love the taste of their fresh kimchi which doesn't have too much of the sour taste that aged kimchi has. Their other sides are great as well and I love that the tofu comes with the fried fish as well. My only problem with this restaurant is the long line, but their table turnover is very quick due to the restaurant's large size. The service is hit or miss, but I don't think it takes away from the main attraction which is their food. read more

BCD may not be the best place for soft tofu stew, but it is a reliable choice when nothing else specific in Korean cuisine particularly appeals to me. Tofu stew at BCD in Irvine, as expected, was decent, however, the service there was absolutely terrible. When the server brought the soft tofu stew to the table, she spilled some onto the napkins but neither apologized nor brought new napkins. I needed more water, side dishes, and extra napkins, but the restaurant was packed with customers and short-staffed that it was almost impossible to get hold of a server. Not s single server voluntarily stopped by to ask if anything else was needed, and I had to wait another 15 minutes or so before I could pay and leave. BCD, don't be so obssed with just making money. Hire more servers! read more

If nothing else, BCD consistently delivers on a comforting and satisfying meal. They're THE safety pick, especially for late night eats. Need something hot and soupy when you're down? Hangry after a night out with friends? Picking someone up late at night from LAX? Need a popular place when showing friends around OC? BCD does that. BCD nails the casual "I'm hungry, but what's open right now?" category and their banchan and dishes never stray in taste or quality each time I visit I like almost all of their soondubu options, but I just love the simplicity and no-nonsense nature of the original beef soondubu! It's what I usually get every time I come back. The assorted and seafood soondubus are solid choices as well and the vegetarian soon with beef broth is pretty good. Not a huge fan of the ham and sausage soondubu since I don't love Spam and what was IMO basically hot dog segments for the "sausage" portion of the name There's usually a bit of a wait (Yelp waitlist), but you must add yourself to the waitlist in-person. There's no in-app option no matter how close you are in distance to this DJ location. Tables generally move pretty fast. Staff are busy, but friendly and are on top of refilling waters and banchan tldr; BCD is king of consistency and you really can't go wrong if you need something warm, comforting, and easy read more

I went to BCD Tofu House on a weekday at around 5pm, and it was not too busy. The restaraunt is quite spacious, so we got seated right away and placed our orders. Service is pretty minimal here, but that is pretty typical of Asian restarauntals. I got the Tofu Bibimbap and it was nothing special, just toppings on rice paired with gochujang. There were no stand out flavors besides the gochujang, which was to be expected for what the dish is, but I feel like the it was just lacking something. Portions are huge, which is great, but I kind of got flavor fatigue (from the gochujang, as that was the only source of it) halfway through. Side dishes are also pretty okay. They refill them for you if they notice you're running low on some, or you can ask for more. My favorite thing I had all night was the potato salad. The crunch and fruitiness of the apple and raisins made the potato salad uniquely refreshing. Overall, BCD Tofu House was pretty disappointing to me, given how much people around me seemed to talk it up. Maybe I just ordered the wrong things, but with so many other great options in Diamond Jamboree that I know won't miss, I probably wouldn't be coming back here anytime soon. read more

We visited on December 24, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. The lady who served our table was rude and did not actively listen when we ordered. She frequently interrupted us and did not let us finish our sentences. We had to wait a long time for refills of banchan and water, and one of our egg orders was completely missed until we asked for later The galbi portion was noticeably smaller than before and had a lot of burnt pieces. What can I say! This place has been staple "Korean eats" in OC for years. The long wait times and rising menu cost come with great food every time. All their locations are consistent. Food (9/10) A wide menu catering to both meat eaters and veggie fans, there is absolutely something you'll crave after trying here. I've repeatedly ordered things like the galbi / spicy bulgogi combo, and even both versions of the bibimbap (hot stone is superb, perfect crispy rice) and the quality and flavor is just perfect every single time. Can't forget to mention even the banchan is always fresh and flavorful, one of very few places i ask for MORE of it. I've tried several of the soups as side dishes for combos - mostly sticking with the dumpling tofu soup. (and the spicy levels are honest). Only real negative I can think of has been the creeping menu cost, but the amount of food you get and the quality overall still is deemed worth it by me! Service (10/10) Again any location any time the staff are always abundant and helpful. Never a moment with an empty plate or cup. If you ask genuinely, they will explain any question you have (never been "stand-off-ish" to my parties) and are super nice. Ambiance (9/10) Always clean and always full of people. Lots of staff flying around really solidifying the busy environment paired with the mouth watering smells of food being delivered around the restaurant really keep you excited until yours arrives! Whether for a group, or just for a more casual date, BCD tofu is one of my go-to comfort meal places, especially when I'm really hungry and looking for big portions. Their meat is all tenderized and sauced to perfection, and every dish is served boiling hot (literally for the tofu soups!) I also think BCD has some of the best rice and side dish service of any Korean restaurant I've been, especially for such a large restaurant. They offer to refill side dishes whenever you would like throughout your meal, and since the sides (especially the cucumber salad and the kimchi) are some of my favorite foods ever, this is like my paradise. Their dishes are generally on the pricier side, but the portions are HUGE, and that price includes the unlimited sides. If you are on more of a budget, the shared plates are all really full sized portions as well (though I don't know if they come with sides). I highly recommend this place, and we will definitely be coming back! read more

BCD Tofu House is incredible. It renewed my interest in tofu soups, as I pretty much haven't craved it in a long while. I "thought" we had a decent tofu soup scene in the Bay Area, but clearly BCD Tofu House is on another level, and blows any other Bay Area tofu soup house out of the waters. In the Bay Area, our equivalent of BCD Tofu House is SGD Tofu House (So Gong Dong Tofu House). After trying BCD, I think So Gong Dong is So Gone Wrong. (I'll probably never be welcomed back at an SGD Tofu House after saying that but oh well) Essentially everything is done so much better here at BCD. The reason why I think BCD Tofu House is so great is because the thing with soups is that soup that is boiling hot can have an altered taste to it. Many times over if you season the soup without considering the boiling factor, the boiling hotness will mask the flavor. That's why there are some soups that just taste much more savory and flavorful when it cools down. I think BCD understands this and will season accordingly with respect to the temperature. Other tofu houses I've tried especially in the Bay Area rarely do enough seasoning IMO. There is a freaking banchan cart that comes around and replenishes everything. It's like a dim sum cart, but it's filled with all of their banchan, and it comes in to check on your table SO FREQUENTLY. Hell yeah! I was just finishing adding the last bits of fish cake and cucumber kimchi, then a nice lady came by, replenished it up beyond the brim, and left - swoon. Also, their banchan options are top notch. It also comes with this fried fish (it's a panfish, I think maybe croaker?) that although has tons of bones, once you work through it, the meat is light and flavorful. They also get you going on the burnt rice claypot thing, which is amazing and well worth it. I really needa plan another SoCal trip soon lol read more

One of my favorites for Soondubu in irvine. Highly recommended, plenty of space so the wait isn't that long outside of rush hours. There are unlimited sides, I recommend asking for the tea to be put in the rice pots too, something to help with the spice afterwards. I normally get medium spice, it's not that spicy but if you can't handle spice mid is okay too. read more

This place was awesome especially since they closed at 4am. We arrived in Irvine late and we wanted to eat food. There was plenty of parking around midnight and we were seated right away. They had a video that showed all the celebrities that ate there and it was a relaxed feel in the restaurant. We ordered the Bulgogi combo with a original (beef) soon tofu. We waited a few minutes then the banchan came out. Everything tasted delicious that I tried like their kimchi, mashed potatoes, and spicy cucumbers. The Bulgogi came out after and it was good with the rice and banchan. The original (beef) soon tofu was tasty and we were both full for a midnight meal. If you aren't great with spice, definitely go on the milder side because WHEW, those tofu soups can get spicy! I got the spicy level with my boyfriend because he said I could handle it, but it was a bit spicier than I would usually tolerate. Other than that, it was such a flavorful tofu soup. I love getting pork tofu soup because the pork really makes the broth stand out. The banchans are really delicious and the side of fish is always a great addition to the meal. Parking at Diamond jamboree will always be chaotic. We got in with little to no wait but it is a popular spot so make sure to account for a wait just in case. The service was extremely fast & friendly. Got the dumplings as an appetizer which were delicious. Got the S1 beef to share which was tasty, tofu was cooked perfectly and the kimchi on the side was delicious. Also enjoyed the fish cakes. Also loved how the rice was presented. At the end, you can ask for hot tea which will be poured into the rice bowl & help lift the rice & make a tasty porridge to eat. Price was very reasonable. I was introduced to this restaurant by my friend, who's Korean, and had it for the first time today. We arrived just in time right before the dinner rush at 530pm and was seated immediately for a part of 6 (3 adults and 3 boys). The restaurant got packed very quickly and by the time we left an hour later there were lots of people waiting outside. We ordered the following: 1. 3 tofu stew (intestines, kimchi w/ beef and original beef): -My husband enjoyed his intestine stew and said the spicy is not spicy at all, but we do have high tolerance for spiciness. -My kimchi stew w/ beef, medium spice is barely mild. It had a good kimchi flavor and is not salty. The tofu is especially soft and tasted very fresh. Each tofu stew came with a clay pot of rice and banchans. We ordered a side of fried croaker for each stew. The croaker is small of about 5 inches and was lightly seasoned. The meat was nice and firm. I love fried fish in general, so it was delish! 2. Galbi entree: My son's ate this with white rice. They said the meat was flavorful, tender, but chewey near the bone. 3. Seafood pancake: A dish too many, but it was good. Flavorful and not salty. Not thick and had just enough seafood that I can taste and best of all, crispy and chewey. The service was great. Staff were very attentive and fast with everything. Things were brought out accordingly, such as menu, water, rice, banchans, etc. Tables were clean promptly. This place is always 10/10, never fails to deliver. They always have a super long line, but that just shows how good this place is. My go to is the original soft tofu soup with medium spice and an egg inside. The service is great and everybody is always hustling to turn tables as fast as possible. It's usually pretty packed all the time so I would say it's a noisier restaurant, so probably not the best for conversation, but other than that the vibe is always great here. A Must-Try Spot for Korean Comfort Food My husband decided to have me try something new today, and I'm so glad he did! He's been here multiple times and absolutely loves it so this time, it was my turn to see what all the hype was about. As soon as we arrived, there was a line out the door (always a good sign!), but the wait moved quickly thanks to their digital sign-in pad. Just note they don't take reservations, so you'll want to show up in person. The moment I walked in, I knew I was in for something good. The place was buzzing with energy and smelled incredible. The variety of banchan (Korean side dishes) was so fun to explore from their crisp cucumber salad to flavorful kimchi and even a deep-fried fish that was surprisingly good. They also had fish cakes that were delicious and a cold mashed potato salad with raisins that was... interesting. Not my favorite since I usually prefer my mashed potatoes hot and savory, but I appreciated the creativity! For my meal, I ordered the Teriyaki Combo with mild tofu soup, while my husband went for the Bulgogi Combo with "Danger" spice level. The tofu soup was comforting and flavorful, and I really enjoyed the texture of the tofu itself. Next time, I'll definitely go for the spicy version -- the mild had great flavor but no heat. The beef option in the tofu soup added a nice richness too. My husband's Bulgogi was delicious honestly, I preferred it over the teriyaki chicken. Despite being labeled "Danger," the spice level was very manageable, even for someone who doesn't usually go for super spicy food. Service was exceptional from start to finish. The staff was warm, attentive, and quick to refill our water and side dishes. If you ever want attention, come here during lunch and get seated by the window near the register lol. I think I was asked by like 8 people if there was anything needed, which was so nice in refilling side dishes. Kind of surprised their side dishes remain the same, with no broccoli carrot substitute as they did during covid. But perhaps its the rising cost of inflation that my portion seems smaller?? QQ. Wasn't able to get the nurongee porridge this time as the hot stone pot didn't have time to crisp the rice, the hot stone pots also don't seem as scalding hot as before. Galbi- a bit oily but easily cuttable with scissors Soondubu combo- 2 clams, a shrimp needing to peel and a small bit of beef. I keep forgetting medium is not really spicy and to increase. I have been here multiple times, so this review is a summary of the times I have been here. Seafood Pancake: 5/5, my friends who don't like seafood love it as well. Super savory and flavorful, can order as a meal and split it! Bibimbap: 3/5, it comes cold and kind of boring considering the price you pay for it Galbi: 4/5, delicious but pricey, doesn't come with much. I like to get the tofu soup and galbi combo and split it since BCD is on the pricier side and I can get two dishes! The appetizers included are also pretty yummy, I recommend the fish cakes and the fish, although a little scary looking to some, is also flavorful!
