It's now Tang N Tang x Namsan. We went a few weeks back when they were trailing 2 weeks of Nam San and reduced the menu options from their old Tang N Tang menu. During that visit, I wasn't able to get the rice cake beef dumplings soup that I usually get here, so I opted for my other go to, which was Galbi Tang and it was not filling at all due to the smaller portion and how the bone-in beef was much shorter thN the usual size it came in before. The beef was also chewy and not soft nor tender. Noodles inside the soup was barely there, too. Husband got their stone pot rice with bulgogi and also wasn't full at the end of the meal. We decided to give it a break and try again a month later. We ordered: Galbi Tang $23.99 (deboned beef soup) and Yukdaejang $20.99 (requested no egg for both). The Galbi Tang had 5 big chunks of beef deboned and was quite tender and juicy! So glad they improved on that dish portion. The flavor of the broth was still the same as well. Hubby's yukaejang was also the best tasting to him compared to other places. Overall, we left happy, full, and very satisfied this time. Hopefully they don't completely get rid of their Tang N Tang side! Moreover, I'd be more excited if they can bring back the rice cake beef dumplings soup or even all veggies dumplings would be perfect, too!

I was really excited to try the Namsan donkatsu. We got the donkatsu and a spicy beef gukbap. I really enjoyed the donkatsu and it was very crispy. However, I didn't think the gukbap was that good. It was okay but won't be ordering next time. The restaurant is very spacious and can't wait to try their other dishes.

    GALBI-TANG (갈비탕)

I want to get Tang for dinner. Since this place's name, I thought it will be a solid choice. When the Galbi Tang was served, I couldn't believe the portion size: only 4 small pieces of ribs with 1 piece of fat. I guess the restaurant name is misleading.

We have been customers of Tang N Tang and have ordered their Galbi Tang before, which is why this experience was especially disappointing. We ordered two Galbi Tang meals for pickup on Sunday. When we got home, we found a fly (or other small flying insect) inside one of the side dishes. This was a serious food safety concern, so we immediately called the restaurant and then returned in person with the food. The staff acknowledged the issue, apologized, and offered to remake the soup. We explained that our concern was not replacing the food, but the fact that there was an insect in it, so we requested a refund instead. The staff told us they needed to contact the owner. We waited at the restaurant for quite a while, but no refund was provided. They eventually took our name, phone number, and email address and told us the owner would contact us. It is now Tuesday, and we have still not received any phone call, message, or refund. We made every reasonable effort to resolve this directly with the restaurant before writing this review. Finding an insect in the food and the lack of follow-up afterward were the reasons we decided to leave this review.

This restaurant hits the spot in all the right places. "Tang" means hearty soup in Korean. I was in need of some chicken soup for the soul, and all I could think about was Sam Gye Tang (Korean chicken soup). Tang n' tang was the first restaurant to pop up on yelp, so we ordered their take out. Their chicken soup was good! I prefer the whole chicken to be a tad bit softer, but the taste was spot on. They also packed us enough rice, and Korean side dishes. My husband ordered their other stew, and he enjoyed it as well. I look forward to visiting in person one day. Their menu offers many other tempting Korean dishes, soup and stews being their main attraction. Pick up was easy and on time, but nothing beats enjoying hot soup right on the spot.

I've recently gotten really into cold noodles and found this place. I've already been here a couple of times, and the food is great--I absolutely love it. Unfortunately, the service during my most recent visit yesterday was disappointing. When I arrived, the restaurant seemed busy, so I waited for about 3-5 minutes at the entrance. No one noticed me, so I added my name to the waitlist and waited nearby. After another 5-10 minutes, no one had called my name or checked on me. Then two other customers walked in and were seated before me. I was confused and surprised since I had been waiting much longer. After I went back inside they finally noticed and seated me. The server came and took my order, but I noticed something else. On my previous visits, I received two complimentary side dishes, which I thought was standard. This time, everyone around me seemed to receive them, but mine never arrived. It felt like my table had simply been forgotten. The food was still excellent, which is why I keep coming back, but the service experience this time left me disappointed. I hope this was just an off day because I genuinely enjoy the restaurant and would like to continue supporting it.

We used to be regulars here but when we tried to come last week we were presented with a completely different menu. I believe ownership changed and they transitioned from delicious Korean soups and shareable dishes to an udon and katsu place. We didn't stay because thats not what we were craving. Sadly we probably won't be back unless they switch back to their old menu.

We ordered the Yukaejang and Donkatsu. I always knew their yukaejang was always bomb, but I was surprised at how good their katsu was! David was our server and he was very gentle and accommodating. Kindly asked for side dish refills and asked how we were doing without being overly intrusive! David made our dining experience so pleasant and would love to give him this shoutout for excellent customer service! Thanks David!!

We were looking for something new to try. We went to plaza in Irvine we rarely ever go to and decided to try Tang N Tang. It was definitely a great find! We weren't familiar with some of the items and the waiter was very kind and patient with explaining what everything was. We ordered Ugeoji Galbi Tang (Spicy Ox Bone Broth with Beef short ribs). The short rib was so tender it just fell off the bone and and broth was really good. We got it with the Bossom Combo so it came with steamed pork belly and kimchi platter. That was delicious as well. We also ordered the Donkatsu. It's a pork katsu with a salad. Very crispy and large portion. Parking is plenty and easy. We went on Friday night and we were seated right away. We will definitely be back!

    We devoured it.

This review is my third and final review of this fantastic gem of neighborhood special authentic Irvine Korean restaurant at the finest location with finest service and authentic tasting food. We ordered Soondwe Pork Small Intestinal Lining Blood Sausage with Kidney Meat thinly sliced and served on a portable gas burner with steam from the water under the perforated base metal tray on the table top exceptionally delicious and plentiful serving and of course the YukGyeJang the home cooking at its finest shredded beef soup with green onions and tons of other vegetables cooked for very long time. Both were excellent and too large for one person. The rice wine MakGeoli was also amazing. Overall Five Solid Stars for all categories: service, cleanliness, price, taste and portions

We've known about this place for a while but haven't been here in a while. It was much better than we remembered. I had the yookgaejang because I seen to recall not liking what I had the previous time (can't remember what it was) and yookgaejang is pretty hard to mess up. It was good -- but again, as a dish it's hard to mess up My wife had the galbi tang and you can see from the picture it came with some huge pieces of meat. She said it was very good. The banchan were good but nothing special. The place is very clean and the service was good. If I could give 4 1/2 stars, I would.

    MUL-BIBIM NAENG MEON
    Winny K.

Let's be honest - we came for the adorable frozen broth bear that comes with (I'm pretty sure) the MUL-BIBIM NAENG MEON (spicy noodle with cold broth), but I would just double check with the waitress before ordering to make sure you can enjoy the bear. He doesn't photograph super well, but he sure tastes good and will ensure that your cold noodles stay chilly and delicious on a hot day. We also shared a massive seafood pancake - very tasty and reheated well the next day on stovetop. Service was great and very prompt about replenishing our favorite banchan items. Ambiance is casual and parking wasn't too tricky given how large the lot is, even though it's shared with many other restaurants and stores.

If you're going with a few people, the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Ribs with the flat glass noodles is definitely the move. The portion easily feeds two to three. The meat is super tender and just falls off the bone, covered in a rich, spicy sauce that has a nice kick to it. The flat glass noodles soak up all that sauce, and the chunks of kabocha squash add a slight sweetness that balances out the spicy, heavy beef. Service is super fast. You get your banchan pretty much the second you sit down, and the food comes out steaming hot without a long delay. I have always really liked this restaurant, which is why today's experience was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, what happened today was truly awful. From the beginning, our server appeared visibly impatient. When we repeated a couple of dish names to make sure the order was correct, she began speaking to us in an unnecessarily loud and irritated tone. Her voice was loud enough that another employee noticed the situation and offered to take over the order. Instead of accepting the help professionally, our server responded that the other employee would not be able to understand what she had written in Korean. When the other employee later asked her to repeat our order, she read it back very loudly and with obvious anger. The entire restaurant could hear her, and the experience made our whole family feel embarrassed and extremely uncomfortable, especially since we had children with us. Later, she seemed to realize that her behavior had affected us. She brought us a noodle dish "on the house" and briefly said sorry. While we appreciated the gesture, it did not undo the way we were treated in front of the entire restaurant. My question is: if you knew your behavior required an apology afterward, why treat customers that way in the first place? Customers should not be made to feel like an inconvenience simply because they are dining with a larger group or placing a larger order. We came to enjoy a family meal, not to be spoken to with hostility and publicly embarrassed. Unfortunately, this experience completely overshadowed the food.
