First time here with my coworkers for a goodbye dinner. We were a party of 11 people. We came on a Wednesday evening around 6pm and parking situation fortunately wasn't too bad that night - weekends are particularly bad for this plaza. I ordered the Bibimbap Combo - Tofu with Small Kimchi Pork Soon Tofu Soup & Stone Pot Rice. Food was amazing, good portion sizes - for reasonably prices, great quality, great service, and overall amazing dining experience. Restrooms weren't that clean since it was later in the evening. But interior ambiance - pretty crowded so make sure to be prepared to show up early to wait for a table since I believe my coworkers said they don't accept reservations. But the popularity - definitely worth the hype, food was so worth it here!!! 100% would highly recommend and will definitely be back to this or one of their other locations!!!
A place to go to where you don't know where to eat or a place where you can bring your friends. Love the tofu soup and galbi! Always nice staff and lively atmosphere. There's always a wait during the weekends but it's sometimes exactly what you need. We will be back
This is my Second time at BCD and first time at this Irvine location. It did not disappointed and tasted just as incredible as when I first tried BCD in NYC. This Irvine location does get very busy because there a lot of other restaurants and shops in the plaza. There is a check in kiosk out front where you can put in your number and get a text when your table is ready. You do only have 5 minutes to return once you get the text. Despite it being so busy, the service was great and timely. They continued to check up on us and refill our sides. I ordered the spicy kimbop with tofu
there's a hype to it and I now understand the hype. Great place, so good that I'm tempted to make the hour drive just to go here again. Also love how many different banchan my chopsticks can only grab one at a time ! The workers come by and refill if needed too.
BCD Tofu House is always crowded, and this location is no exception. We waited more than an hour in line for a party of seven, and it was worth the wait. I tried their hot stone bibimbap. It was sizzling hot and had my favorite crispy bits of rice at the bottom. Together with the vegetables, protein, and gochujang, the dish itself was more than enough for me and ended up being a part of the next day's leftovers. I always enjoy their banchan, especially their small fried fish that comes along with it.
Another review on BCD tofu house!! Still one of the popular place to go with your family. Waiting time still long, which we get used to if we really craving for tofu soup. Back for my favorite kimchi tofu soup and my seafood pancake. This time I also had a hot pot bibimbap. Hubby got his bbq and my plain eating son had a plain soup and chicken teriyaki. As usual side dish is a big hit for me! A little bit hot inside inside the restaurant, but maybe because I'm eating all hot and mildly spicy food! Ice water is a must. As you look around , everyone are enjoying their food!! Clean and service once you are seated is fast. Still love this place.
This place was packed for a Monday night! Arrived around 9 PM and had to join a waitlist before being seated about 20 minutes later. The food was delicious and certainly a good bang for your buck. It was $18 for sundubu + rice + infinite banchan. I was so surprised when the server brought over a whole fried fish! I'll certainly be back (but join the waitlist in advance next time) !!
We ordered stone bibimbap Amazing flavors if you use the gochuchang sauce they give on side It's extremely busy and so you need to make sure you have checked in on yelp for your party. Minimum wait is 30-40 min on weekends it can go upto 80-90 minutes
Even though it happened ages ago, I still remember the first time I ever visited a BCD Tofu House. At the same time, considering how it came at 3am after a night out in K-Town some significantly less than sober friends, it's not a whole lot either. In all, I remember that the place was packed, we were spread out across three or four tables, and that, most importantly, the food was great! Now that I've been back a few times all of these years later, albeit to an entirely different location, it's just as comforting as it is awesome to know that the food is just as good as I remember...and that it wasn't because of all of the alcohol we had! Located in the ridiculously busy Diamond Jamboree complex, this BCD is super convenient...assuming you're able to snag a parking space (peak dinner hours, especially on Friday or Saturday nights, are the worst). The restaurant is large, there are plenty of places to sit and/or walk around at while you wait, and the line moves pretty fast. More importantly, the menu is so good! As you'd expect, given BCD Tofu's popularity, they have plenty of tofu soup options to choose from, but they also have BBQ meat plates and entrees that you can a la carte or as a combo with your soup, apps, like fried mandu, japchae, fried tofu, and seafood pancake, bibimbap, dolsot bibimbap, and even marinated crab. In short, nothing crazy unique, but still plenty of things to get! -- HAEMUL PAJEON (Seafood Pancake) with Squid, Shrimp, Mussel, and Green Onion We've ordered this three times with mostly good results. The first and third we had this, it was pretty good - crispy and decently filled. The second time, though, which I assume was an outlier, it was pale, oily, and barely crispy, presumably from not being cooked long enough. -- SPICY RAW CRAB My first time having marinated raw crab. Aside from one of the crabs still having some fishing wire tangled around its leg, this was pretty solid. The crabs tasted really fresh and I liked how the marinade had a slight kick to it. -- ATKA MACKEREL Pretty decent, though, I've definitely had better. While I was impressed with how large the mackerel was, for whatever reason, this one had a lot of bones left in it compared to others I've had. Still, the fish was flavorful and meaty. -- ASSORTED TOFU SOUP - Beef, Shrimp, and Clam (Mild) Of the three types of soup I've tried, this was my favorite. Not only was there a good amount of beef, seafood, and tofu, but the flavors complemented each other so well. That said, their "mild" was a bit too "mild" for me. -- SEAFOOD TOFU SOUP - Shrimp, Clam, and Mussel Meat (Mild) Not quite as good as the Assorted Tofu Soup, but not that far behind either. The chunks of mussels were surprisingly large and gave this a different sort of meatiness than the beef. This also felt a little mild as well, but I did like the overall seafood flavor. -- HAM & SAUSAGE TOFU SOUP - Ham, Sausage, and Cheese (Medium) Ehh...not bad for what it is, but easily my least favorite. While I liked how they didn't skimp on the sausage or ham/Spam, the two also made this taste rather salty. Also, I didn't taste any cheese either, but at least the spice level was much better. -- ASSORTED TOFU SOUP - Beef, Shrimp, and Clam (Medium) This was just as good as the one I had before and even seemed to have a lot more tofu in it, too. Between that and how the spice level tasted so much better, this was nearly perfect! -- LA GALBI - BBQ Short Ribs To be honest, I wasn't really sure what to expect with this, but it turned out to be so good! The cuts are thick and meaty, not overly fatty, and were just straight up delicious. I'm sure there are better out there, but this is one of the best I've had in a while. Beyond the food, the service here is pretty solid as well. Not only are all of the servers generally friendly, but I like how they will come around refill banchan dishes unprompted. The kitchen gets orders out pretty quickly, too, which, combined how efficient the workers are, helps them turn over tables so quickly and churn through the line. Interesting enough, if I had based this on that second visit alone, this would probably be closer to a two and a half star review. However, given how swimmingly the rest of them have gone, it ended up being pretty easy to give four star reviews. Couple that with how ridiculously late they stay open (not 24/7 like how their K-Town locations used to be, but 3am is still more than enough), I'll definitely be back at some point or another!
BCD Tofu House honestly never disappoints. My friends and I have made so many little road trips here just to get Korean food, and it's always worth it every time. The servers are so nice and attentive. They're always checking in on the tables and making sure everything is taken care of, whether it's refilling water or bringing more banchan without us even having to ask. The service feels really thoughtful and welcoming, especially when the restaurant gets busy. Their banchan are seriously so good, especially the cucumber and fish cakes, which are always my favorites out of all the side dishes. I could honestly keep eating refills of those alone. We got the seafood and assorted tofu soups along with the seafood pancake as an appetizer. This was actually my first time trying their seafood pancake, and it was delicious. It came out crispy on the outside while still soft inside, packed with seafood and flavor, and honestly was enough to feed about four people. The tofu soup was perfect too. It came out still bubbling hot, but once it cooled down a little it was so comforting and flavorful. It's the type of meal that genuinely feels like it heals your soul after a long day. I think this is definitely going to be one of the things I miss most when I leave SoCal, those random road trips with friends just to get good food. I also love the location because after eating, we always end up walking around Diamond Jamboree after to digest and hang out a little longer.
First time at this location. We went at an odd time, around 3pm on a Monday so it wasn't crowded at all. Fairly large space with a lot of tables. We were seated right away and our food came out fairly quickly. We ordered the veggie soon tofu and the kalbi combo with the kimchi soon tofu. The soon tofu that comes with the combo is a little smaller. The kalbi portion was a good size, so we were able to share it amongst two people. Everything was really tasty. The kalbi was well seasoned and was pretty tender. Service was pretty average. We were able to get more side dishes when we ran out. We would definitely come back again for the food.
BCD has literally never let me down when my late night cravings hit. It was such a great staple when i was in college and still is. the LA galbi here is still one of the best i've had, and the soondubu is so yummy and comforting. the service at the irvine location is also great, they are always quick to refill our banchan and provide us with anything else that we need (scissors for cutting the meat, etc). Ofc, the line is always super long especially at dinner time until closing but I've always found that the queue moves pretty fast and never had to wait more than 30 mins. Parking in DJ is also rough but there's always the extra parking lot next to the h-mart when the main parking lot is too packed.

The biggest downside is the long wait and the chaotic parking situation at Diamond Jamboree. That said, the food is good. I especially love their soft tofu soup--it's very flavorful, though it can be a bit salty. The soup-and-entree combo is generous enough to feed two people. When I come with friends, we usually order one or two combos to share, typically with galbi (Korean marinated short rib) or chicken teriyaki. The galbi is consistently great, but the chicken teriyaki can be hit or miss, with some pieces being tough while others are cooked just right. Inside, it's always very busy and loud, which explains the long waits and occasional difficulty getting refills--you sometimes have to flag down servers. read more
That hit the spot! We (party of 3) came for lunch at around 12p on a Friday afternoon, and it was definitely packed. As expected we hoped too join the waitlist and get seated asap, and thankfully after about 20 min, our table was ready. The time estimate on their yelp waitlist is pretty accurate! Their service is really efficient, and if you know what you want to order, you can pretty much expect to get your food within the first 5-10 minutes of sitting down. Three of us shared two tofu combos with galbi, and we also added a third tofu soup. That was plenty of food, especially for lunch. The rice came out almost instantly. They scooped it out into a bowl for you and then poured the hot tea in the rice bowl, to loosen up the remaining rice on the sides of the stone pot. The banchan (side dishes) were also served instantly. The tofu came out first but the galbi took maybe a few minutes longer. We all got the intestine tofu soup, and that was probably the best choice I have made in a while... HAHA! If you like chewy textures like tendon, then this is the right one to choose. The intestines absorbed so much of the flavors of the broth (we got mild spice; slight kick). Don't forget to crack open the egg into your tofu soup so it cooks while it is still hot! Okay my curiosity got the best of me I got the Kalbi combo, way more pricy then I think it's worth. Spice level on the Soybean Soon Tofu was accurate tho and tasted yummy. Unlimited banchan and rice tea that honestly was delicious. Idk if I'd crave this place over my usual Korean place. But not bad for a late night dinner. Staff was fast and efficient, and it was pretty clean. But noting that the floors are slippery, similar to Korean bbq, I almost ate it coming out of the bathrooms. read more

Came on a weekend evening for dinner. Was planning to have sushi but the wait was absurd so electronically put our names down for this spot instead. We had a large party of 8 and were seated in about 40 minutes. They can accommodate larger parties and we sat very comfortably. Our server was super cool and the service overall is excellent. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The food comes out very quickly. Each combo dinner order included a by fried fish about the size of a small hand. The small dishes were great. I especially loved the Kim chi, not too spicy and perfectly flavored. They have a refill cart if you need more, they will happily bring more. The tofu soup was excellent. They offer various levels of spice, I ordered medium and it barely spicy and perfect for me. The chapchae noodles were very good. The bibimpap was good as well. And of course you can't go wrong with the meats, we ordered the LA galbi combo (shortrib) and bulgogi combo (sliced pieces of tube yet beef). Both were good. The galbi was perfectly seasoned. I love the burnt rice at the bottom of the stone pots. Make sure to scrape those out and not waste them! Overall great meal. Was so full and satisfied. You can't go wrong with the delicious food at BCD! Fast friendly service in a casual and often busy ambiance, the wait is always worth it! The meal starts with banchan (the little side dishes) my favorite is the fish cake, but don't discount the kimchi. If you like fish, I recommend the Seafood Soon Tofu soup. The Seafood Pancake is also tasty. The spicy bulgogi always hits the spot. Enjoy! read more

I feel that this place is overhyped. It is good, but not worth the hassle to be waiting extremely long times during peak hours. Not sure about other items, but I ordered the bulgogi combo and the meat was seasoned to be extremely sweet. I tend to enjoy more savory seasonings, but this was even more so than other bulgogi I've had. The amount of meat was enough, but it had more fatty parts than lean - moreso than I remember in the past. An alright meal, but not the best I've had. read more

I've been here over a dozen times, and their soup and galbi combo never disappoints. The tofu stew always comes out bubbling hot and flavorful, and the galbi is tender, juicy, and marinated well every single time. I really enjoy how they serve extremely fresh kimchi (as opposed to heavily fermented), it adds a crisp, refreshing balance to the meal and honestly takes everything to another level. Not to mention the the little fried croaker fish they include. Service is fast, friendly, and reliable, no matter how packed the restaurant gets. Also need to mention their entree combo deals, they make eating here so affordable! You won't find a better value for a meat + tofu stew combo anywhere else. BCD always hits the spot. It's comforting, consistent, and easily my go-to whenever I'm in SoCal. read more

Ive been eying this place for a while, every time im in this plaza im always reminded of it. Finally decided to try! The place was busy, but I was sat immediately (around lunchtime). I was waited even faster, they practically took my order as I sat! I knew i wanted the soon tofu, and chose the veggie (mild) with the regular meat broth. You can choose a water broth too for the veggie soup if you'd like. Comes with a nice variety of banchan that they come back and refill. I liked the mashed potatoes (?), fish, and the cucumbers best, though i think i need to figure out a better way to eat the fish! The soup comes out BOILING hot, which was cool to see! You can crack the egg they give you into it if you want. I did, mix it up and the egg cooks. The soup was DELICIOUS. So comforting. I liked that it wasnt spicy, it just felt like a hug. If you frequent Diamond Jamboree and haven't been to BCD, where have you been? It's easily the largest restaurant in the plaza and is practically open all day (3am weekdays/ 4am weekends) to fulfill your soon tofu cravings. Even though it's a big restaurant, it's almost always busy. But you can easily place yourself on the Yelp waitlist and walk around until your table is ready. It's a super casual place and service is quick. All of the entrees come with hot stone rice and banchan side dishes. Most of the side dishes here are pretty good, especially the fish cake, potato salad and pickled cucumbers. For tofu, the Assorted or Soybean Paste Soon Tofu ($17.99) always hits the spot. They also have combos if you want something else to go with your tofu. The LA Galbi Combo ($31.49) comes with grilled short ribs and a smaller bowl of tofu. Their galbi has great flavor although the meat quality is sometimes fatty. My only other complaint is that it doesn't come out sizzling hot like it used to. This place will always be my go-to for soon tofu because of it's convenience and quality (they use organic tofu). It would be nice if they open another location in south OC one day. read more

Let's start with this -- you'll want to try this place. Every time you drive by, that long line out the door says it all. And honestly? It is worth the hype... most of the time. Ask them to bring you a pitcher of water, or else they'll just not do it. Best bet is just get the Galbi Combo. Teriyaki chicken / bulgogi & everything else will be a bit dry and overcooked. The side dishes were more appetizing. I've been coming here for nearly a decade, and I've had my fair share of great experiences. The dinner service is usually exceptional -- staff are attentive, refilling side dishes before you even need to ask (to the point I've said, "Okay, you can stop now "). I LOVE THAT. But my recent visit? A bit disappointing. When it gets late and busy, the night crew seems overwhelmed -- and as someone who's worked in the industry, I get it. Still, the quality slipped and service slipped. My bulgogi combo came out looking mashed together instead of the usual tender, glistening slices with onions. I even checked other photos online -- big difference. I still love this SPOT, but consistency matters. When they're on their game but that seems very often now. it's five stars. When they're not... it's a hit or miss. read more
I've been to different BCD location so it was my first time at this place. We came here for late dinner around 11pm on a Saturday. I was surprised that there were people waiting to eat such a late dinner. We put on our name on the waitlist. I think we waited around 15 mins but I went by very quick. The plaza that this place is in had so many food options. The place was big and spacious with lots of seating. I ordered the LA Galbi combo which came with appetizers and a tofu soup of my choice. The food came out so quick. They had so many workers working. And they were very attentive about refilling the water cups. But after that they didn't come by for the rest of the night. Overall, if you in mood for late night dinner you must come here. read more
We always drive past BCD tofu house and there's always long wait times and lines so we wanted to see what all the buzz was about. Luckily when we went this time it was only a 40 minute wait. The inside is very spacious with lots of tables. Service was extremely fast and the waiters serve you everything fresh at your table. I chose to try the assorted tofu soup and it was pretty good. I enjoyed that they also give you lots of sides and will refill them as well. Overall i think it's very fair for the price and a solid option if you like tofu soup. read more

We've been here three times just this past week. One of our favorite late night spots. We split the chicken teriyaki combo and it's perfect for two, plenty of meat and it comes with unlimited sides (potato salad, kimchi, cucumbers, fish cakes) and a bowl of rice which we share along with a small pot of soup of your choice! And an egg to stir in. We spend $30 for two people and it's definitely a great deal. We have tried the beef bulgogi but I would not recommend, chicken has been our go to but will want to try the beef short ribs next maybe. read more

BCD never disappoints. The only downside is the long wait on weekends. But if you go on Mon-Wed I've noticed minimal waits. My go to is S1 Beef spicy, but if i'm feeling ravenous i'll get the Galbi combo with it. Food comes out quickly and they're always ready to refill side dishes. read more

It's great for its open late. Service is fast and everyone moves with such efficiency. The food was great. Some place's pancakes are mushy when they come out but theirs was nice and crispy. Tofu soup was also good and flavorful. read more
The service we went this visit was really great. We were seated and got our food very quickly. The food here is always solid and very consistent which we appreciate. We got the spicy raw marinated crab which had really big pieces of crab with a delicious sauce. read more
First timer and I loved every bit of it. The amount of sides they offer is pretty impressive. I had their tofu soup with a side of beef. One of their sides was fish ( I don't eat fish, but it look tasty). The soup was made to perfection and the side were delicious. The egg in the soup was the cherry on top. The only downfall of this place was that the staff wasn't as friendly as I thought. Seemed a bit of an inconvenience asking for sides. read more
Never not hits! This is hands down one of the largest locations, in diamond jamboree plaza. It's also conveniently right next to literally anything else you would want to eat with plenty of desert options! 85, somi somi, to name a couple! The waitresses are og Korean aunties and they're super friendly, quick with service as always, and they come by frequently to refill all your banchan (side dishes) Finish of your meal with the scorching rice that they make after scooping your rice into a bowl, and adding barley tea. I can't believe I haven't written a review! This is probably my favorite spot in OC. BCD here is even better than the one in Korea. I always get medium seafood soup. All the banchan is so fresh and they are super attentive with refilling it. I especially love the fish and at the end, I put hot water in my rice for nooroonggi. A lot of the waitresses speak Korean which is also nice! There's always a wait though so make sure to put your name in. I even went at like 9:30pm on a weeknight and there was a wait (although quick). The best place!!!! read more
Beef bulgogi + seafood tofu soup combo was honestly SO yummmmyyyy. You get the best of both worlds; the bulgogi comes out sizzling hot on a plate, super flavorful and tender, and the soup arrives bubbling in a clay pot. They give you an egg on the side that you can crack into the soup, let it cook, then put it over rice... it's actually such game changer w you have no beef with it. The rice itself is from a clay pot too, nice and steamy, scripy on the edges. They add broth onto the rice pot too once you're done. Unlimited banchan with a really good variety - kimchi, pickled veggies, little side dishes that keep getting refilled. Everything just hits together so well. Service was quick, super friendly, and they've got plenty of tables so you don't feel crammed in. 10/10 - totally worth it. I'd come back just for that combo alone. read more

staff was nice & food was good. the rice that comes in the cute stone pot was burned but maybe that's how it's served? one of the servers came by (we were a party of two) & i thought she was serving us our respective bowls of rice before our entrees but she proceeded to scoop out 80% of the rice & put it in front of my companion. i assumed she was going to split it & give us equal portions but honestly it was hilarious. maybe that's how it's done, i wouldn't know & i don't hold it against them, just thought it was funny. i loved the teriyaki chicken & whatever looked like wonton pieces. not a big fan of the mashed potato side because it was strangely sweet. i liked the tofu soup other than the sandy bits which i assume is from a crustacean than took its last breath in that tasty broth. my absolute favorite was their Terra beer, which tasted like if Sprite was beer. so effervescent & light! seafood pancake was good & reminiscent of tempura in texture, light yet tasty from being fried. the sauce it came with was good as well. inside & decor was cute. would try the Bibimbap next time or maybe some teppanyaki. read more
An Irvine staple! Used to come here in college, and this spot is still the best tofu soup in the area! Great side dishes with frequent refills, too. The sicy beef tofu soup is my go-to with the LA kalbi combo. It's a lively plaza, so limited parking and wait times are the only things to keep in mind. We spontaneously came for lunch on a Sunday and didn't have to wait. read more
The restaurant itself has plenty of seating and also closes really late, which makes it a perfect place to eat at after a long night out. I went at around 10:30, and the place was still packed with people. Make a reservation, because even at the time we went, we had to wait a while for a table. Because of the amount of customers, we also had to wait a while before the food came out. The food was great as well. I will say that the raw marinated crabs were a bit small. I think you'd be better off ordering their other dishes, like the galbi. The soup and the corvina are very delicious as well. read more

Catching up on my Yelp reviews and had to share what a yummy lunch we had here on 4th of July. I don't do much to celebrate the holiday so my sister and husband and I ventured over to Diamond Jamboree to try BCD Tofu because we were in the mood for Korean food. I was pleasantly surprised we didn't have to wait considering how busy it usually is! Admittedly, I wasn't in a soup mood, personally, so while I sampled the broth from my husbands bowl (very yummy) I mostly enjoyed the seafood pancake and my japchae, both of which were hot and fresh. I do wish the japchae had a bit more tofu to make it a bit heartier (I know it's traditionally a side dish so maybe that's why). I do think the service could use some work here. We were well finished with our meal and I went to the front to ask for the check and she said to wait until our server came (she never did, but eventually the person at the front desk did bring us our check). By the time we left, there was a long line so I would have thought they'd be eager to turn over our table but they were a little slow. read more

Wait for this place wasn't too bad, waited maybe 30 minutes at most. I got the seafood tofu which is always amazing. My boyfriend gets the kimchi tofu and the broth on it is amazing. The staff is so friendly and tops off our banchan at lightening speed. Inside always has the amazing smell of different soups and is so neat inside. one of my favorite comfort spots when it's cold outside. I love that they're open late. read more
A staple of my college diet, BCD is an institution in Irvine. I came here with friends recently after many years of craving their tofu soup. I loved the variety of banchan and the unlimited refills! I think I was 50% kimchi and fish cake by the end of the meal. We all ordered the combo meals. I ordered the spicy pork with soybean soup. Both were delicious and the right amount of spiciness. I had so much food leftover that I got two more meals from it! The place was pretty packed for a Tuesday evening, but we were seated promptly. It took a little time for our food to come out, but not unreasonable. Overall, I enjoyed my experience, and I can't wait for my next trip back. read more

Do you get banchan if you only order soup?
Yes, typically banchan comes default with all things ordered whether it's just soup, bibimbap only or any meat only entrees
Is the banchan still good like taste good during 12am-3am?
We've been there at 12:40 AM and it was still fresh. I'm not sure beyond that, but as long as they're busy I'm betting it would be.
Does the Tofu Soup have any seafood or related in it? I have allergies and want to make sure.
Yes. It's a seafood soup with tofu
Does their main dishes include rice or is the rice paid separately?
I recall that it does. My husband ordered the short ribs and got a bowl of rice that I took to eat with my soup. I LOVE RICE! It's bad but it's a MUST have for me.
