Update following a negative experience at the beginning of this month regarding a monthly payment and a change in payment method; following a monthly payment made at the beginning of March, 2026, which seemed to never actually leave my bank account, BCI did a payment reversal 3 days later without any kind of notice to me that one was going to occur. I was then sent a strange looking slip of paper in the mail 5 days later that they needed payment for March, and my BCI account now has a $10.00 late fee posted. Maybe I am simply not understanding the processes that this organization uses, but the fact that there is very little communication or attempt to get me to understand what is going on here leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I had a horrible experience with an auto loan from this company. I paid off the loan in early February, but I did not immediately receive the certificate of title. I called several times and on May 22, they said they would send it to me that day; however, it did not arrive in a timely manner, although BCI swore it had been mailed. Assuming the title had been lost in the mail, I called several times to get a lien release letter, so as to enable me to get a duplicate title. On June 18, the company agreed and claimed to send me one; however, that also did not arrive. On July 8, I drove from Rhode Island to their office in Connecticut to pick up a lien release letter. Between that and $53.50, the RI DMV promptly delivered a duplicate certificate of title. This isn't the end of the story, though. On July 19, I received the original June 18 lien release letter. It bore a first-class US business postage stamp dated June 23 (five days after BCI claimed to have sent it), but a USPS postmark dated July 17. A few days later, on July 24, I received the original certificate of title, with a cover letter dated February 10, in an envelope with a business postage stamp dated July 22 and no USPS postmark. Thus, BCI cost me $53.50 (plus driving expenses) and several hours wasted driving to and from their office. Of course, if I'd waited, I would have received the original certificate of title; but who would expect to have to wait two months (being generous and using the date when they claimed to have sent the certificate of title; or over five months from when the loan was paid off and their cover letter was dated) to receive a piece of paper through the mail? Given the divergent time stamps on the lien release letter, I suspect the problem is in BCI's mail room; however, in fairness I can't discount the possibility that the USPS is to blame for some of these delays. I've rarely encountered serious delays with the USPS, however; and if BCI regularly had such delays with their USPS branch office, they should find a workaround. read more

Avoid have a loan from this place at all costs. On 6/7/24 I paid off my loan thinking all was good. On 6/14/24 they still withdrew the full payment even when there was no balance remaining and they withdrew my account since it was only used for bills. Of course I now had to waste time calling. I was told I would get the money the week of the 16th so I followed up again on the 20th. I was now told I would get the refund the week of the 23rd. I called again on 6/28/24 now to find out the check won't be here this week. Awful customer service across the board that its now taken 3 weeks from when the loan was paid off to get my money back that they had mistakenly taken. Also still havent gotten the title for my vehicle either. read more

The BCI Financial Payment booklet has Miniature envelope labels to put on your envelope when sending a payment to them. Three of my payment didn't get there because of the terrible business practices. They send nasty emails on a Saturday after everyone at the company has gone home for the weekend. This bank's customer service rating is 0. You have to pull teeth to get someone to respond back via email if you have a problem/ issue. They act like you're bothering them. Do yourself a favor and go to another bank for your loan! read more

The website alone is reason to be put off by BCI. Their online services can be described as clunky at best. Sure it's straight forward to pay but not so much to find out what you owe, it's very off-putting and feels shady. That coupled with a $5 convenience fee contributes to a bad experience. I thought that my experience might be atypical but upon reading other reviews I found that the aforementioned issues are nothing new. Given this, my confidence and trust in BCI is low. read more

Stay FAR, FAR away from BCI Financial. Their online portal is a HOT MESS. When you log in, it asks you security questions that you never answered. It locks you out after a number of times, but doesn't tell you that you're locked out. There's no automated password reset feature, so you have to e-mail someone at the bank and have an employee manually reset it for you and send it to you IN PLAIN TEXT. For those who are not tech-savvy, let me explain: THIS IS BAD. If your email ever gets hacked, they now have your banking password too! For some piddly little forum that may be fine, but not for your BANK. This is 2016. Even from a small bank, I expect better. We are not in the stone age any longer. I am on my 3rd car loan from BCI Financial. Each time has been a pleasant and easy experience. Rates are always competitive and the customer service is always helpful and very knowledgeable. My husband also had a loan through this company, he recently paid off the loan and received his title within days. It's nice to do business with a small local company! read more

I have recently bought a second home through BCI Financial and, once again, I been extremely satisfied my experience. Kevin Luddy was very helpful in helping me get through the hoops and hurdles of getting a VA Loan. I was able to sit back, relax and concentrate on my job and everyday life while every couple of days or so Kevin would get back to me with updates. Once I had been approved, Helen Lecomte did an exceptional job at guiding me in the various directions I had to go prior to my closing. The service BCI Financial provided me was excellent. I could not ask for a more complete, thorough, timely and hassle free couple of months from the time I found a property, until my closing. Thank you BCI! read more

I haven't had any issues with unreasonable fees for the bank, but they're extremely difficult to get ahold of. When I first opened my auto loan, there was no online account option, which was inconvenient, but whatever, I'll pay by check. The payment amount is reasonable, and eventually, I would have payed with all the coupons and expect to receive the title to the car after several years. Now, I'm considering selling my car, which I still owe on, so I'd like to check the balance and make an informed decision knowing that I'll have to pay that off. Their website now offers an online account, but it's not a streamlined service. First, you have to agree to some EULA, but you click the link to browse that agreement and it leads to a server error. Then you try to make an account, but it's not automated. Some person must have to review it because they say to expect an email with the next business day (it's the next business day and I still haven't received it, but they haven't gone over that yet). We'll see how easy it is to check my balance once I have an online account. I also called yesterday and today. Yesterday, a robot answered the phone (fine), but rather than hearing a list of options, it says, BCI Financial does not accept calls from blocked or private numbers. I don't have a blocked or private number and this is an excellent way to endear your customers. Today, I called again and got the expected menu. I select the options that their website lists for checking your balance, dig further through the menu, and enter my account number. There was a message saying my account was not available and for customer service to call the same number I just called, not offering to redirect me to a customer service agent. I'll keep making payments, and trying alternative methods for finding out my balance, but this amount of work is crazy to find out what I owe. Between credit cards, student loans, and personal banking, I do business with eight other similar entities and I've never had to sort through a phone menu to only be told to call back, and I can check my balance on any of their accounts any time of day with an internet connection and see a real time status of my balance. read more

I have an auto loan through BCI Financial. I had never heard of them before, but I received a decent rate, especially for my first loan so I decided to go with it. I will say that at first things ran smoothly for me. No issues with paying and financially, I was very stable. Then life smacks you in the face and you have to struggle a little bit. I never ever missed payments, even if I sent a few payments late, I still never missed any at all. As soon as I was late paying for the first time, I got multiple phone calls in a week. Then I get a letter sent to me in the mail, then a few emails. I couldn't believe that I was being harassed over a late payment. Late payments happened multiple times because it was so hard for me to catch up and I was only working part time so it grew increasingly difficult to keep up with everything. I called and explained my situation to one of the guys there (Ill spare his name) and let him know that I would make a payment, but that it wouldn't be made until I got paid the following week because I was being paid bi-weekly. He was trying to force me to make payments when I had no money in my account and said that wasn't his problem and that if no payment was made, they would have to "take action". All this drama over late payments. Anyway, long story short, they don't care about your situation, they wont even give you an option to see if you can get your monthly payment lowered or put you into a temporary payment plan to catch up. They're careless and don't like to work with anyone who is in financial hardship. As long as they get their money, the rest is history. I would NOT recommend any one get a loan through BCI Financial. read more

I have an auto loan through BCI and was approved through this lender by the dealer. I am now, and have always been, unhappy with their service. They do not act like a a 'small town' lender, nor are they a 'big name' in the industry and being stuck in the middle is difficult for the loan holder. Example: I lost my job. I called and said I anticipated being late on 1 payment for the first time ever in 18 months since I had taken out the loan, (I was thinking trying to get ahead of it was the right thing to do), and asked if they could do anything at all. (i.e.-make a note so I didn't get repossession proceedings started, or late fees added or constant phone calls telling me I was late. Could they let it slide and double up on next months payment as I anticipated having a job by then...something, anything...) I asked because I thought I was dealing with a smaller lender (which I am) and I was told no, there was nothing they could do. He actually stated "we can't do anything until AFTER you've missed your payment"! Wow. By the way I ended up not being late though that is not the point! I asked where I could make payments toward the principal and they told me I have to send a check and write 'principal only' on it, then look at my bank account and when I see the check has cashed, call and ask if the payment was made and confirm it was made on my principal only. That. Is. Crazy. Inconvenient. Again, if you want to act like a small town lender when it comes to these issues that is fine, but you should act like a small town lender when people come to you for assistance as well. They are also not a large lender, so their website is horrible. They charge $5.00 per online payment, $10.00 per phone payment and their phone system is so cumbersome! It took me 4 minutes to get to the "how much is my payoff" option, only to be told by the automated system that this feature has been disabled for this account?! When I called the office, no one could tell me why it was disabled and no one could tell me who could enable it. Ridiculous. They also do not do refinancing. I was told that I would need to go somewhere else to refinance for a lower interest rate. So they would rather lose the business than refinance? Odd. Happens to be okay with me and is exactly what I will do since I am unhappy with their service, but nonetheless it is odd. read more

Lesson learned. $10.00 to pay by phone and $5.00 to pay online. It's 2017 BCI. I pay all my credit card bills, my mortgage, my mobile phone and even my daycare online and ....no fees. Yet, BCI, who I already pay interest to, shamelessly charges fees. They present like a small company when its convenient for them and then they operate like a big corporation when that is in their best interest. You cant be both, either be a rigid un-willing-to-bend corporation or be a small company who cares about their customers and repeat business. Gail was professional but many of the other employees (owner?) I spoke with are condescending, rude and dismissive. BCI very recently updated their website, so the payment screen is SOO much better now! I love how it now shows you the payoff amount easily in your account. I paid off my car loan today. I had a slight issue where the website miscalculated the interest and said I would still owe .16 cents on my car. I called customer service to see if I could avoid paying the $5 convenience fee online, and they took care of everything. I did not need to pay the last .16 cents because it was an error on their part. If BCI Financial would just do away with the $5 convenience fee like most other loan companies, they would have received 5 stars from me! Everything else about the past three years with this company has been a great experience. read more

Haven't personally had any issues with the payments themselves, but their awful website looks like it is straight out of 1997. 2 separate logins between the part to make a payment(with a $5 convenience fee), and the part to check your balance. No self service password reset or username lookup, asks security questions that you never answered. The self-service phone system isn't much better considering it doesn't work. read more

Just a fair warning..if you don't want your family broken apart by a mortgage, don't go here. I found one of their agents (I will spare her name) through an online search of high rated, reputable people that work on first time homebuyer mortgage's. I called and explained my situation which was between my sister and law and I and we would be buying the home from her. We explained our budget, and what we could afford taxes included per mo on numerous occasions, emails and phone calls. Turns out this "Specialist" was talking to my sister in law without my consent and the price "went up" and all of a sudden sends us a mortgage statement that would equal $2,200 per month..something we clearly could not afford. We then ask her why is it so much WITHOUT HAMDEN TAXES (add another 6-700 per mo for that) and she said "we didn't tell her we wanted a policy with taxes included" I still have the e-mails. My husband got a car loan through this inept institution. He fell behind on a payment due to an income tax problem when he took money from his 401k. The collector NEVER had written permission to discuss the loan with me but continually harassed me via email and threatening and trying to force payments when there was no money in the checking account. They finally backed off after being reported to the Banking Commissioner and BBB. Their behavior is unprofessional and their website is subpar. Stay away from this low class operation. read more

Needless online payment fees. The online website sign-on never works right, it asks questions it didn't ask when I signed up. It goes in circles. I have changed my user name and password twice to he same as it was the first time and it works once and then back to the same screwed up sign in issues. The homepage needs a link if you forgot your password or logon. That's standard practice on other sites that are actually trying to be a service to their customers. read more

I would not let anyone I know use this bank. They took one of my loan payments and put it to someone else's name. And then called me and told me I was late on my payment and needed to pay late fees. Now I am trying to get a new car and in the computer at the bank they have the wrong social and I was told they had my name spelt the wrong way as well. So now I have no credit to my name because all the information is wrong I can not get a car from another bank because it looks like I have no credit. And on top of all of this Bci won't refinance me because I have been at my new job for 3 months. I called to talk to the president. He was no help either and tried to make the bank look great when in reality they are not and no one should use them for anything. I am appalled they have not made me a happy costumer. I will not allow anyone that I know use this bank. So everyone that reads this think twice before you use the bank. read more
