Authentic Dominican/Caribbean food in Willowbrook. Who knew?…read more I remember this place from a birthday party decades ago. The space was a bit bigger (they've since redesigned it smaller), but the crowds were smaller. Success hasn't tarnished their food. It was a very rainy and soggy afternoons and the place was packed. We managed a table and ordered. Can't go wrong with the delicious shrimp mofongo. I honestly think the sauce is the icing on that cake, made all the more delicious with a squeeze of lemon. Whew! Service was fast and dinner came out at a reasonable pace. The owner is so friendly and stopped by our table to make sure things were good. Better than good! If you're in the Willowbrook area do yourself a favor and stop in for lunch or dinner. Prices are a little steep, but what's isn't these days?

I ordered the pollo guisado and moro, both were good and we have a little left over. My partner ordered the pica pollo and the fried chicken was decent. The food does take some time, and servers did not check in too often so I would recommend ordering ahead of time (unless you have a long lunch break), There are plenty of tables, but it is a little dark inside, 2 bathrooms inside. The juice was on the sweet side so just watered it down (wish they have smoothies), but they get 5 stars overall for the flavor and the price point. Plenty of parking as it's in located along other stores.

The arroz con gondolas was my favorite! It had a great texture and flavor. The ladies were so kind and friendly. The food truck had the menu and was very approachable. The woman working in the truck was very sweet and made the ordering process simple. They were out of quite a few things so I ended up just grabbing some plantains and then going to a restaurant for a meal but it was fine considering I was just kind of looking for a snack to hold me over for a long drive and these did the trick. This truck is designed so cute it definitely stands out in a crowd of food trucks. I thought it was odd that I didn't get my change until the end when I came back for my food though and then she forgot that she had to give me my change but when I reminded her she left the truck and came back with my change so I'm assuming and she just ran out of change. If I hadn't remembered though she would've came up on a 300% tip LOL Anywaaays, Overall a good experience.

The pernil plate was outstanding -- the pork was perfectly seasoned, incredibly tender, and had that amazing crispy edge that makes pernil so special. The portion was generous and paired perfectly with the sides. We also tried the tripletas, and they were fantastic. Packed with flavor, juicy meats, and perfectly balanced with the bread and toppings. Easily one of the best tripletas we've had. The yucas were cooked perfectly -- crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and great for dipping. They were a perfect side to the sandwiches. For the kids, we ordered the chicken strips from the kids menu, and even those were great. Crispy, well seasoned, and the kids loved them. Overall, the food, flavor, and portions were excellent. If you're looking for authentic Caribbean comfort food, El Caribeño is definitely worth visiting. We'll absolutely be coming back!

Puertorican restaurant with good food and good prices. A…read moregroup of friends and I went and it was an ok experience. Normally you order at the front desk, but they helped us in our table since we were a group of 10. It's a small place with about 4 tables and only one restroom. The girl that helped us was attentive. One complaint is that they have Pepsi and not Coke but that's a personal preference. Food is ok, someone ordered Queso Frito, for my taste was too salty. But the Tostones with pork meat were really good. I got mofongo with camarones, the shrimp were good size, the mofongo was too dry but I'm not sure if it's supposed to be like that, I noticed they serve the mofongo not in the traditional way, which is like in a cup shape the protein in the middle, here they serve the mofongo in the shape of a small cake and the protein on the side. The arroz con gandujes was good and the pork was good. I feel they have potential. The restroom situation (only one) is not ideal though.

Didn't wanna drive all across town for good Jamaican food so I came here this week. Let's just say costly for the quantity they give, and very little to nothing. I've been places where 25.00 dollars for peas and rice, oxtails, plantains and cabbage, will be plentiful, and can't finish on a good day, with no shortening. I feel there isn't any competition in this area, so you get a sense of they are the best, when they aren't. Well if you know know, then you know. Wanted the oxtail plate, but was told approximately only four oxtails come with it. SMH, FOR THE PRICE. Yes, you can choose two sides per plate, although additional plantains are 6 dollars more for an order of maybe 6. That's a dollar each almost, and just wanted a double order with my meal. Sides are Carribean/American mixed. No this isn't a Jamaican restaurant with all your taste buds flavors, and your quantity per meal/price. So I asked about the Jerk Chicken plate, which I like my oxtail gravy on my chicken and rice because I can't have alot of spice, meaning the jerk sauce. The cook told me, they don't normally do that...but she will honor it that night. Once again, customer has a preference in gravy versus sauce. She went added it on the side. But encourage me to try the jerk sauce on the side. Maybe cause I'm well traveled that oxtail gravy on the side taste like the broth from oxtail, but more like regular beef broth, no gravy. And the jerk sauce on the side also was bland, and plain. The jerk chicken by the way taste like it had Mrs. Dash orginal seasoning written all on it, and the portions were small, not what I'm use to elsewhere for those orders. And I could only imagine the oxtail plate...Smh, glad i didn't choose that. The wet mac n cheese and plantains were the only good thing. I guess every Carribean Island country is different, and how they do there plates. St. Croix by the way. But no justification to the seasoning and sauces. The cashier said they been open about two years, and yes I seen alot of people with either food delivery or takeout like myself that night, but not dining in. They do have a 4.5 stars on Google review, can't explain it why. Well, for the price and what you are getting isn't worth it here from my thoughts. And not to mention the drinks/juices are like 5.00 dollars or more. I'll leave this place at a 1 star, for the mac n cheese and plantains only.
