Delicious meals. I had the Portabello Ruben and my friend had the Green Bowl - both were yummy and filled us up. Our server, Jasmine, made us feel very attended to and never rushed - she was lovely. The restaurant space is open but still feels cozy. Our table, we felt, was a bit too close to a table next to us as sometimes we had trouble hearing what each other was saying over the voice of a person at the close table but this could be remedied by the restaurant. I initially did not want to write a bad review. However, when I called the restaurant they dismissed my concern and gave me attitude, rather than showing an interest in hearing feedback from customer. I ordered take out (green bowl, creamy green smoothie) for dinner and got severe food poisoning. I called to inform the restaurant and the man that answered the phone initially denied that they had the dish/smoothie I mentioned (?). He then told me I was being "presumptuous" in assuming I got food poisoning from their restaurant. He did not seem to think this could happen, since the restaurant serves plant-based food. He did not apologize, take any responsibility or show any concern for what had happened to me. I would caution anyone considering going to this restaurant as I don't expect they will take any steps to address the issue that caused my food poisoning. Just went to be love.. the food was great.. But they included a 15 percent tip on my order without telling me.. when i asked them to take it off the person at the cash "Vanessa" was suuuuuuuuuuuuuper rude about it.. asking if the service was good enough and such things in a really snarky way making me not want to re add a tip to the order and making me feel very uncomfortable.. as we left i looked back and she was making faces at us! I went back in to tell her i felt disrespected and for the information of her higher authority and she refused to give it to me! Amazing. A first foray into vegan fare we ordered the masala hash, bennie and a stack of pancakes. Everything had distinct and balanced flavours, the ingredients were local, fresh and seasonal. Their housemade almond milk and cream for our teas were a treat when compared to their store bought pretenders. The hosts were helpful but slow and often inattentive. My boyfriend and I are visiting Victoria from Seattle for Valentine's Day. We ate here for dinner last night and it was delicious. I ordered the Green Bowl and I think it's one of the tastiest things I've ever had at a restaurant! I know that's a bold statement but it was just sooooo good. I also had a Blood Orange Blush (I think that's what it was called) which is a special drink they had for Valentine's Day and really loved it. I included a photo of the Bread and Buttah as well which we both also enjoyed. My boyfriend ordered the Mushroom Alfredo which I think is also a V-Day special and it was amazing! Fall Menu?? Absolutely! From the beautiful fall menu I tried the "Fall Pho" and the "Pulled Squash Sandwich" Both warming my belly with the hints of ginger,cinnamon,apple and all those great fall flavours I couldn't stop stop eating! The pulled squash was beautifully executed in its unique play on a pulled pork. The corn bread was moist and flavourful but the ratio of corn bread to pulled pork was overpowering. There was not enough pulled squash! There was also a lack of the apple which added a great freshness. The Pho was great but I wouldn't call it a Pho. You can't just make a vegetable soup with some slippery noodles and call it a Pho. It did have great flavour though, the ginger broth was to die for!! I want just a cup of the broth honestly. The vegetables were tender and everything blended together to create a melody of autumn flavours. Just like the pulled pork I would recommend more apple garnish it really helps freshen the dish. I'm not vegan but I am gluten and dairy free and this was a great experience. I got a salad and a curry bowl and both were great- plenty of food and fresh veggies. The curry bowl was the better of the two but both entrees were lovely. Got a kombucha ginger drink that was incredible; I thought the other cocktail I got was just good, not great. Staff were helpful and informed about ingredients and allergies and helped me avoid items with soy. Decor is overall nice, although the paintings on the walls aren't to my taste. Big servings- save on money and just share a bowl. Desserts from the case are tasty but pricey- share one, they're pretty rich anyway. Downsides: there may be a wait around dinner time and it can be pretty loud. The bar is the best option for you if you are HoH or on a date :) read more

I hesitated at first because I've never eat something like that before. But then I decided to try something new. And I have to say that I was truly amazed! All the vegetables, nuts, rice and curry are perfect together! And the 'Golden smoothie' was really good! I'm such a banana, ginger and cinnamon fan so it was beyond perfect! Fabulous sister restaurant to Bliss. The decor is really lovely and the staff is friendly. At the height of a weekday lunch, it is busy (good sign). The tables are very close together, so be prepared to hear your neighbours ;). We've also had dinner around 5 and it was much more quiet. The food is really great. Local and organic, gluten free and additive free - which will cost more. I always order the mushroom pasta because it is so good. My carnivore hubby enjoys the enchilada and didn't miss the meat (much ;). The pumpkin cake is absolutely amazing! A fabulous addition to Victoria's healthy and tasty dining options. read more

Staff members were friendly when they decided to acknowledge me (I stood at the counter right in front of two staff members for 5 minutes before any acknowledgement, one was directly in front of me doing other tasks) I'm patient as a service worker, so eh whatever. Moving on, I order what sounds like an amazing option full of flavor and energy! The Karma Bowl! greens, rice, beans, sauce, what could go wrong?! Well......... I wanted to love it, I just couldn't. The sauce was good! But the portion was too small. The greens were very very bitter! So bitter I couldn't finish. I love my greens, I have them everyday in my smoothies/diet and I truly tried to stomach this, it was a no go. I left hungry. The desserts looked awesome, and although I didn't have any the people sitting next to me were amazed so don't totally avoid this place, just avoid the Karma Bowl! This restaurant is great. I've occasionally had vegan cuisine and found it to be mediocre. The food at Be Love is completely amazing. You forget that it's vegan. They reinvent food in this place. Cheez is made from cashews. Zacon is fake bacon made from zucchini that tastes like bacon. We liked this place so much that we went there for dinner twice during a 3-night visit and we're not vegans. I too wanted to love Be Love, but I was disappointed. The black beans in my bowl were under done, slightly crunchy and dry in the middle. I let the server know and she agreed, after tasing some herself. She gave me a free juice to go, which is nice...but I'm hoping that, for everyone else's sake, they fix the underdone bean issue. Weirdly enough my husband's potatoes were actually VERY overdone..I wish I had taken a picture, but I didn't. Many of them had completely hard, dried out sections that crunched when you bit into them. 2 were actually completely dark brown and burnt. The other challenge with this restaurant is the noise level & tightly packed tables. If we are going to talk at brunch you would think that the tables wouldn't be placed so closely together that you have a hard time focusing on your partner's words, because of the overwhelming noise level. In addition I can't imagine if anyone had a child, extra coat, etc..there's really just no room. Finally, if you're supposedly plant based why throw the egg in there? I know it's only an option, but come on..it's semi offensive to vegans so I'd be surprised if you're not losing some vegan customers over this. read more

I asked the waitress where's the cracker but she said it doesn't come with it and asked if I wanted to pay extra for a cracker... the bowl is already pricey for the amount of food given. So we just left after we ate and walked over to Fino Tacos and ordered 2 big vegan burritos for less than $10 each. We are both very tiny in size and wear a size extra small in clothing but the food here does not fill us up. It's sad that we have to eat somewhere else after our dinner here. Everything is organic, vegan and gluten-free. It's not raw, but they have a couple raw options. I go here more often than is good for anyone's wallet. They have a friendly, laid-back staff and nice atmosphere. The food itself is hit or miss. The mushroom fettuccine is the best thing on the menu. The soup of the day and bowls are usually a good bet. The hummus/olives appy and wasabi-like sauce that they put on the burger is not great. Apparently the enchilladas are bad. The best hot drink is Mama's magic. Didn't like the medinal chai, but the other hot drinks are okay. I can't comment on the smoothies or juices as I have only ever tried one. The cheesecake is a good desert unless you feel like something really sweet, then get the love sundae. They only take reservations for 6+ people, but you usually don't need one. Honestly, the concept is cool but the food just wasn't great on our visit. We ordered a greens and a lentil bowl as well as potatoes. Neither bowl's ingredients seemed to mesh. It felt like trendy ingredients (coconut milk, pea shoots) were tossed in whether they made sense in the dish. Both bowls were overwhelmingly onion-filled with big hunks of soggy onion. You can't easily classify the food and drink here. Try it! Earth Sea Salad - great kale and seaweed salad with a ginger dressing. Really healthy and invigorating. This is a huge portion of greens. Warm Quinoa Salad - perfect in the cold weather. Very big, tasty, filling serving. Cocktails - Fibonacci - amazing bourbon drink with sphere of ice made with rosewater. I can't explain in mere words how fantastic this place is. We were there over Valentine's weekend and had a special menu just for the occasion. I had the bolognese with their custom egg and rice noodles and a "meaty" sauce that was spot on. She had the reuban which was unfortunately too heavy on the horse radish. Her lintel soup was pretty great though. We had the "love potion elixir" which was a non-alcoholic concoction of chocolate syrup, rose water, almond milk, maca, and some Peruvian fruit we've never heard of before.
