It's truly unbelievable to me that at a bagel shop, the person taking orders always looks pained when someone wants to order a dozen bagels and has to ask "if it's possible". I understand they've gone through some challenges over the years but I've never gone in to try and order bagels and either been turned away because they cannot sell bagels not in sandwiches or done so begrudgingly. I had a Save30 and decided to get a late breakfast here one day. I was planning on one of the sandwiches, but when I arrived, there was a poster for the Everything but the Bagel Protein bowl. I love beach bagels! I have only ever been to this location. It is located in a strip mall next to Cape Fear Seafood, a gym, and a pet store. There are so many bagel options to choose from. You can pick breakfast sandwiches or lunch sandwich sandwiches. Many varieties of cream cheese as well. I have been here a handful of times for a bacon egg and cheese bagel sandwich on and everything bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. Delicious every time! There is a small dining area inside and there is a small drink fountain where you can fill your own drinks. You can choose your own chips as a side if that is what you pick for a lunch combination. You can call in and get it for pick up and they are also on DoorDash now as well. Service is typically pretty quick. Check your mailbox as if you live locally you may be getting coupons for the establishment which I think is wonderful. read more

I just visited the Monkey Junction location this morning at around 7:45 AM. I am a Wilmington local and a huge supporter but this AM was an awful experience. There was maybe one other customer in the store at the time and I ordered 2 bagels, a plain bagel with garden vegetable cream cheese and an Asiago bagel with sausage and scallion cream cheese and it took over 20 minutes. There was probably 2-3 workers but I watched as they all walked around and talked while I was waiting for my order and no other customers were in there. The sausage sat on the grill probably the entire time and was very over cooked. The bagels were subpar tasted a little stale were not even toasted and barley had any cream cheese at all and I waited over 20 minutes for that?? Honestly I was a bit surprised to see the not-so-stellar reviews, but I guess I can understand. We stopped by this store to get a quick lunch today. The people are very nice and welcoming, not rudeness at all like mentioned in other reviews. They are very helpful with my ordering process. I really have no complaints regarding service here. I got the chicken salad with jalapeño bagel, and it was wonderful. I really enjoyed it! The slightly lacking part (I guess I would agree with some reviews) is that the flooring at the entrance was cracking up, uneven. The girl says they had this issue as she was moping the floor. So I wouldn't presume that they didn't care enough to clean it. It's probably that they need to fix or replace it which they have not gotten around to do so. In terms of price, I do find it on the pricier side. My lunch bagel was 7.79. Definitely not cheap. The bagels are decent, though. At least you won't feel bad for overpaying for under-quality food. The fountain drink comes in foam cups (and plastic covers) which to some is not so environmentally friendly. At the same time the straws are on demand in order to protect the environment. You can make your own decision about this. All in all, this is a good spot for a quick, delicious bagel lunch to go. A little pricy, but it's not a big deal. read more

The breakfast bagel sandwiches hit the spot as well as our iced caramel macchiatos, they were tasty and strong just perfect. I would recommend this location and the others in town. Will not be coming back here. No thank you for tips, didn't receive a receipt and it took 17 minutes for 2 sesame seed bagels with cream cheese. Not to mention the employee just left my order incomplete sitting on counter. I had to remind them I was still waiting. The food is always fresh off the cooking top and the staff is always nice and understanding. I'd also say that beach bagels but this store in specific have the best ingredients out of any bagel shop in Wilmington hands down. It's never a long wait for food but I wouldn't mind waiting 40 minutes for it it's so damn good. I've gone to a lot of breakfast joints including other bagel shops locally and beach bagels has never failed to give a great meal and good conversations as well. I recommend the most bang for your buck is the bagel + hash brown meal with a large drink is around $10 and is super filling. Overall love this store read more

I know they are short staffed but their online ordering system is dreadful. Ordered online and was told a pickup time. Arrived at said pickup time only to be told that they hadn't started my order yet and they will get to it. Three people then ordered in house then collected their food before my order was started. What's the point of ordering online if they are just going to push it to the back of the que and make you wait close to an hour to get your food? When asked about this issue the staff acted like I was a nuisance. Won't be returning here anytime soon. read more

This place is a joke. I placed an online order at 10:30 am with the pick up time of 10:47 and 11:25 I finally get my food only to discover once I get home that my order's wrong. Half the orders being picked up were online or DoorDash while a full restaurant sat without food. I'm no expert but why wouldn't they turn off online orders if they're that behind? Let me start by saying I'm from Long Island, New York so my standards for a bagel are high. I ordered an egg, cheddar, and turkey sausage sandwich on everything bagel and a latte, which ended up being about $11, which I thought was pretty steep for a quick breakfast. I guess I did order a specialty coffee though. For a Sunday morning I was so glad that it wasn't too busy so I could eat at a table in peace. Overall it was good. Nothing too exciting. Placed an online order about 30 mins prior to arrival at the restaurant. Got to the restaurant and waited 40 mins to get 3 bagels. Then the lady at the counter after 30 mins said we are just now starting on your order. I was one of three people in the restaurant with 3 people behind the counter. Ungodly slow and clearly saw me waiting the entire time. The other two individuals got there bagels in 5 mins or less. Absolutely ridiculous. Two people working the register with a line almost out the door. Waited for ten minutes to order 2 basic bagels with cream cheese. Ordered. Waited 30 minutes for order. Had to go to the register again to check on the order and apparently, it got lost. Employee was not even apologetic. Eventually handed me the order and, again, did not apologize. All of this to say, the bagel was just okay. But the service was horrible. They've also got a weird system for call in or online orders where you just walk in and go straight to the front of the register line to pay. While convenient for the customer, there needs to be a separate place for them to stand and pay rather than step in front of everyone else that was waiting. read more

My wife and I have been here a few times and we really like it. The staff is really friendly and the bagels are great. They have a lot of selections and a good amount of vegan selections. Today I tried the Impossible Burger on a plain bagel and it was amazing! It's served with lettuce, tomato, pickles, avocado, black bean hummus and probably a couple of other things that I forgot! Disappointing trip to Beach Bagels. I went with a friend and they didn't provide either of us with quality customer service. I ordered scrambled eggs with cheese and the cashier looked confused (this request isn't on the menu, however, I assumed a breakfast establishment would know how to make scrambled eggs). She didn't know how much to charge me so she asked a coworker, the coworker shouted, "just charge him however much you'd think!" So I got charged $2 for [see picture]. When my order was ready I didn't get my coffee cup I ordered. I waited for it and the employee handing out orders looks at me and says, "What?" I asked her for my cup and she shouted at another employee to do it for me. My friend ordered honey mustard on the side, an request she's made before, she was told "We don't sell honey mustard." In addition to that, her latte took 15 minutes to be served (the restaurant wasn't busy). The cashier must have sensed some hostility, because when she gave my friend her coffee, she gave her a free coffee coupon. My first and last time coming to this location. read more

Food is awesome. Great bagels, love the omelets, lattes are tasty as well. Staff is really friendly. If you go during a down time it's going to be a great experience. If every time I went it was slow I would rate this place 4 stars. However...if you go and there is a line it's a completely different experience. Biggest problem is they will keep on taking orders, get backed up, and the quality of food suffers. ALWAYS check your order when it's busy because it is almost guaranteed to be wrong. We've had them forget bagels, forget to add the protein, put a sad swipe of cream cheese that is barely visible, waited 30 minutes for 2 bagels with only cream cheese, and had the servers lie about making our drinks correctly. I would rate them 2 stars when it's busy so I averaged it out. This comes down to management so I'm not mad at the staff. They need to focus on getting orders right when it's busy and not trying to take orders fast as possible. Just a bad business practice to take people's money and then not deliver. Food is awesome and very reasonably priced though so I'll keep going back. read more

First I want to comment on how awesome the staff were. Very welcoming and friendly. Very patient and willing to explain all the options. Our food was good. My salad was missing a few items I ordered on it (cheese, olives and a few others). Was still good. My husband and son both had a sandwich on an everything bagel. They said the bagels were possibly the best they have had. The steak was roast beef though and my husband said his egg was cold. He also thought it would be an over easy egg, so his expectations were off. Overall a great little addition to monkey junction with many options (even Vegan and Keto). read more
