The Brisket was dry at 11:30AM, The owner is very personable and asked if that was the best brisket I'd ever had. I was honest and said "you've done better". I'm giving a two star review for several reasons. First and most importantly, the owner, I believe, came through asking everyone how their food was. Then he stopped to thank a service member for his service. When he asked what service the gentleman served in, and he said Navy, the owner of this place said "It's okay man. As long as it's not the Air Force. I was sitting right there so I said, "AHEMMMMM". He attempted a sorry apology, but did he thank me for my service to our country? No. Then he continued to speak of the Air Force as if it were trash. Does he realize all service is deserve respect? I guess not. Had I not been sitting there with my son's, daughters in law, and grandchildren, he would have gotten an earful from me. But I didn't want to embarrass my family. I wish I had not wasted my money at this place as they do not appreciate our service members. Another reason for the two star review is that there aren't even working bathrooms in the place. I'm all about a dive of a place. Attached to a gas station? Sure. The original Oklahoma Joe's in KC has some of the best bbq in the country. This brisket was inedible. It wasn't the fat cap. The brisket itself was rubbery. The sandwich looked great but it was awful brisket. The smoker was right out front. That's usually a good sign. At first sight, the place doesn't seem like anything special but as soon as you're greeted by the owner, it's an entirely different story. I took my wife and my daughter here for lunch and the staff, including the owner, were so warm and friendly. I ordered a cheeseburger and the chili was recommended. "Iit's award winning", I was told. I thought to myself, why not? I'm glad I did. The fries and burger, with chili, were delicious! One of the ladies behind the counter came over to give us our food and even held my toddler and talked to us for a couple minutes. She was so friendly. Absolutely DISGUSTING service. What I am assuming to be the owner, the large child who worked in the back preparing food- made several rude comments to several customers. These comments were completely unprovoked & unnecessary. I had a young family member with special needs ask for a bathroom before ordering and after walking out to find another restroom, the large guy bad mouthed him to the entire restaurant as he clearly did not realize that his father was standing directly behind him. I have never in my life experienced such disgusting behavior and I work in law enforcement. Not to mention, sanitation rating was covered up, not that it was necessary- the place was just as disgusting as the people that worked there. There was a lady bringing out the food that was very kind and was getting smarted off to as well by the large guy with the small ego. Right across the street from Dollar General in Atlantic Beach, this small restaurant really packs in the food and flavor. Yes, they are known for their delicious hamburgers, but their shrimp n grits are to die for! They are now also serving cooked-on-the-premises smoked brisket. You'll see and smell several smokers right outside the door. A local guy runs it and he is there every day working hard to satisfy every customer with reasonable prices. Went there based on reviews... it's un-imposing (behind the Shell station) but *wow* the smell of the barbecue when you get out of the car! Chatted with the owner and went for a brisket sandwich. I was hungry so I got the large... which was massive (1/2 lb meat). I ate slices of brisket off of it with my fingers til it was small enough to fit in my mouth. EXCELLENT flavor. The kids liked the burgers and fries and hush puppies but... I will seriously come back here every single time we're in the area because of that 'cue. I might get the small brisket sandwich another time ... maybe. He did say he sells out of brisket and pork each day, so don't wait too late in the day to go. He also deep fries turkeys (order ahead), so I'll keep that in mind for a future Thanksgiving. All in all - 5+ stars, will definitely be back! read more

We visited Beach Burgers on a recommendation from several people, but do not plan to return. PLEASE understand first and foremost that I am one to call and compliment services/food/etc., not provide negative reviews, but I had to share our experience. When we visited on vacation, our first "lesson" was that only cash was accepted as payment - no big deal, we understand that. So, we retrieved cash and looked at the posted menu, to which I noticed that prices (in my opinion) were high for a hot dog or hamburger combo. Brisket was offered as well, but was also expensive (but again, maybe not atypical for meat such as that). At this point, I am continuing to remain positive, despite the extremely scorching temperature of the establishment and the overall appearance of the establishment, which was dirty-appearing and not that clean. The owner/manager displayed a very poor attitude towards his two visible employees, being very demeaning to them and rude with his tone -- all occurring in front of my husband and me. My husband needed to use the restroom, but "Out of Order" signs were on both the men's and women's restrooms. We inquired and the owner/manager told us that if people are paying, they can use the restrooms. Okay... we had ordered at this point, much to my hesitation. **Let me also add that the owner/manager told us when we inquired about the menu that he specializes in brisket - his exact words were, "real food," over the other menu items. (We did not want heavy food like brisket, especially with the hot temperatures that day. Also - brisket is probably a favorite of his to sell because was an expensive menu item.) The booth spaces were small, so we opted to dine outside at the offered picnic table. I was beyond shocked when my husband said that our food was going to be brought outside to us, as I did not expect a gesture such as that from all that had occurred. Please know that even though everything had happened as mentioned above, we were still striving to remain optimistic as our food arrived. When we received our food, it was in a small serving basket with our burgers and truly, only approximately 10-12 shoestring fries with our "combo." Still -- we were counting on the burger to save the day and it did not. The burgers were more of a meatloaf/frozen variety and the buns were fresh out of the pack instead of toasted or even the slightest bit warm. Our cheese was not melted. I ate maybe 2-3 bites of my expensive burger. So, I say all of this to say to please be wary when visiting Beach Burgers!! Food is too expensive and you expect at least some courtesy and friendliness toward customers and employees. I WILL ADD ------------------------- please, please, please do frequent "Captain's Kitchen," which is one of THE BEST places to eat at the beach and do NOT judge The Captain based on the fact that he is somewhat affliated with the manager/operator at Beach Burgers.
