Where to begin? I had some old sun damage areas I wanted looked and discussing any procedure to remove some less than slightly bumps. Dr. Ammar was on time, professional and friendly. He explained that some of the issues and sun damage I had could be removed quite easily in one visit, possibly two here's where it gets interesting. He did a head to toe examination and found a mole on the bottom of my foot that was biopsies. I don't have the results yet. I had seen this mole years ago and thought nothing of it. Turns out, Bob Marley died at a very young age from a similar mole that turned out to be cancerous. at first, I was skeptical only because of the honesty of the doctor I had seen, but in reality, his honesty was truthful and he over delivered within my service. I really appreciate him and highly trust him. He had really cool glasses, a good sense of humor, and the process went by very quickly. This review is several years past due, but I feel the need to share. Summary: 1 star (if that) for Beach Cities because I felt like they went straight to extreme solutions and also did not seem to respect me as a patient. Also, street parking was really difficult and there's no validation. Details: Beach Cities was my first experience going to a dermatologist at all and it was for some acne-related items. As I was talking to the doctor (pretty sure Dr. Wickwire but I could be wrong), the ONLY option he gave was that he could zap each zit/bump individually. I have very fair skin so he said that wouldn't be a good option because it was 50/50 to whether it would make my skin better or worse. I guess kudos to him for not pressuring me to do that? But no other options given at all!! He did give me a pamphlet, but it didn't have solutions in it. So I came home to Google very basic things that gave me more help than the pamphlet. The other reason I'm giving 1 star is due to the lack of professionalism in the workplace. Two separate assistants walked into my room completely unannounced and no knocking while I was changing. And it wasn't a, "Oh, I'm sorry let me come back," reaction. They just kept walking in to refill the drawers with supplies. I have NEVER had a doctor/nurse/assistant attempt to come into a room (especially if they know the patient changes) without at least knocking first and typically they will wait at the door to make sure I've acknowledged them. For this to happen to me twice in one visit and two separate people really speaks to their lack of professionalism and respect for their patients in my opinion. Again, this was my first visit to any dermatologist and it dampened my opinion for any dermatologist because I thought there was no way to help my skin. I finally got over that years later and my new doctor/office started me on antibiotics and topical creams which have worked wonders. My new doctor did not jump straight to zapping my skin, which seems like a more appropriate action. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Wickwire for years now. He is a very friendly and skilled Dermatologist. Makes you feel at ease, with great bedside manner. Fortunately I have not needed much in the way of surgery, other than some minor excisions , which he resolved easily for me. His staff is equally amazing! Had a couple of issues I was concerned about and my original dermatologist was booked for over a month. The receptionist was able to get me in quickly. She even told me the best place to park. There are tons of 1 hour meters around I get there and was greeted with a smile and like ALL places should, they already had my health care card info on file. What a waste of time to bring your card, wait for them to make a copy then wait for them to get it back. Anyway, I only had to wait about 5 minutes to be seen and Dr. Ammar was amazing. He was very oersonable and even gave me samples as well as coupons in case I wanted to buy a big version. But even before he came in, I was told about my insurance and what I'd be responsible for. This place is amazing. I was in and out in less than 20 minutes. They were the bright spot in my stressful week. read more

This place is great! Friendly and helpful staff! Very little wait times and quick service! I called the week of my wedding requesting an emergency appointment for an ingrown pimple on my chin. The office was very accommodating to my last minute request and were able to squeeze me into their busy schedules to see me before my wedding. Then, about 1.5 years later, same incident except I had a wedding to attend too. They were able to squeeze me into their schedule, same day! All the doctors are great! They are all worth seeing! Had a Scalp Cyst removed by Dr. Neil Ammar. Let me say first off that the staff ...Awesome ! They made the whole procedure as comfortable as possible and the level of professionalism was what you would expect from a Doctors Office. The office by the way was bright, clean and happy. The waiting room has exceptional decor, calm and soothing. The Doc. Serious and direct no-nonsense with a great bedside manner. I felt in good hands. He was in charge at all times, confident and great communication skills. The Procedure Fast virtually painless... and I had thirty two stitches. The incision though long is perfect and clean ... lost NO hair ! This doctor has skills. One final praise; No blood... my clothes were exactly the way I came in. Doctors are nice, front-of-house is accommodating, but in their Culver Office there is an insanely annoying buzzing sound coming from their lights that twice now they've refused to rectify. Dr. Wickwire got rid of a couple of my son's warts. One was frozen, the other one was cut off. It has been a couple of weeks and they are both healing well. We were going to do a home treatment, but I thought it would be faster if we just went to the dermatologist and had them taken care of. We are glad we did that, even though it ended up being more expensive...it was well worth it. We have also been to Dr. Ammar for mole removal several years ago and he did a great job. I see Dr. Wickwier (might be spelling that wrong). The first time I saw him, I thought he was a bit cheeky and I wasn't sure I liked him, but I kept going anyway. He's a skilled doctor and actually quite nice. He won't run a million tests when not needed, but he won't leave you wasting your time, either. They have really early hours (and I believe late too) to accommodate different schedules, and if you're willing to travel to different offices or see different associates, they can always squeeze you in last minute. I've seen the doc at the Culver City and Redondo Beach locations, and both of the offices are really nice. read more

Both Dr. Wickwire and Dr. Ammar did a great job on separate skin excisions I needed about one year apart. They were fast, proficient, and left me with scars that faded over time to be almost invisible.
