    Side of Texas chilli
    Kaylee L.

I ordered to go but still had to wait about 10 min after the expected pick up time. There is a nice outdoor patio with interesting decor so the wait wasn't bad. I ordered the turkey plate which came with two sides and I chose green beans and Mac n cheese. The turkey was pleasantly moist and tender with a slight smokiness that wasn't overbearing. The green beans were not overcooked and the mac n cheese was spot on, not overly cheesy. The corn bread has blue berries so I was expecting it to be sweet but it wasn't at all and was very moist. The whole meal just came really well together and I like that they provided a pat of butter for the bread. The complaint I have would be the proportions. The turkey provided was only a few slices while the corn bread was massive in comparison. I would have preferred more of the main entree rather than the bread. I also got an additional side of Texas chilli which was full of flavor and amazing but I was surprised that it came in a shallow container that was smaller than the other 2 sides yet was $10. It was enjoyable though and I had it with some tortilla chips. Given that, I might still return when I'm in the area and feel like treating myself to some BBQ.

Brisket salad is sad and uninspiring for the price.

Very cool BBQ spot tucked away like a little oasis. Looks like it was a house at one time that's been converted into a restaurant. Huge comfy patio plus some inside seating. Parking is limited and you can get trapped if someone pulls in behind you so make sure to look before pulling in too far. I wasn't lucky enough to snag a spot but there was plenty of street parking. The burnt ends appetizer was 5 stars BBQ perfection. Melt in your mouth tender, saturated with smokiness, and had a delicious dry rub. Unfortunately nothing else compared. My brisket salad was truly sad and uninspired for the price. Zero creativity in this boring salad. The brisket was horrible. Zero flavor and so chewy I thought I was eating a sirloin steak at Denny's. I can't believe this was slow cooked like the burnt ends. Total waste of money. Even the honey mustard was an odd choice and did not work. My wife's two item combo was no better. Same chewy flavorless brisket along with completely flavorless sausage. She had to drown everything in BBQ sauce which was very good. We also had Fried okra which as good. You get your own drinks but they do bring out your food and clean up your table so the up front tip is warranted. Service was extremely friendly. Maybe it was a bad day but my wife and I both agreed we wouldn't return.

Half rack of BBQ ribs, sausage, brisket, baked beans, sweet potato fries, and cornbread.

My wife and I went to this place for the first time on the 4th of July. We are not foodies but thought we would give this place a try. The food was absolutely delicious! Everything on our 2 combo platter tasted great! The servers were hospitable and very helpful. We did not have to wait long to get our food. We ate outside but the the inside was welcoming and clean. Overall, we give the restaurant an A+ and we will be eating there again soon!

Brisket meal with their homemade spicy bbq sauce, Mac n cheese is homemade and delicious and same with their potato salad!

Amazing food! All homemade food with the best flavor! Friendly service and cute little place! You order at the counter, then sit and they bring it out! Highly recommend! Everything was delicious!! And to top it off they have country music playing! Yay! The best! We will definitely be back!

Good BBQ in a cool little hidden driveway. Picked this place randomly and was not disappointed. Good flavor food nice size portions and the service and ambiance were great.

Another great dinner at Beach Pit! The vinegar-based coleslaw was perfectly tangy, the collard greens were flavorful, and the corn muffin hit the spot. The pulled pork was especially impressive--tender and lean with no excess fat. Always a solid choice!

Must try restaurant in the OC! Blown away by their service and the quality of their food! I'm not really a BBQ fan but this wasn't too heavy! The staff were so nice and courteous! The brisket and pulled park was well worth it! Best part- pricing very fair. Thank you for a pleasant time with friends on a Friday night!

This review is for the online ordering. Ordered for pick up at 3:15. Received an email confirming my food would be ready at 3:15. Called to let them know I had arrived in the parking lot at 3:20, and the employee told me she would bring out the food when it was ready. It is now 3:40 and I am still waiting in my car. What is the point of having a set pick up time when you don't have the food ready within a reasonable time of the scheduled pick up? I could understand a delay of 10 minutes or less, but 25 minutes plus is outrageous. The food itself is good, just be prepared to wait even if you order online with a specific pick up time.

My daughter and I were visiting the area for the day and bbq sounded like it would hit the spot for lunch, so we found Beach Pit BBQ and we're so happy we did. When we walked in we were greeted and were helped when we were ordering. We got the bbq sampler with all of the meat. The turkey and ribs were our favorite but everything was good. It came with a side of beans, coleslaw and blueberry cornbread which was so light and delicious. The coleslaw had just the right amount of tang and the celery seeds in it were so good too! They serve wine and beer which is nice to have those to choose from besides tea or soft drinks. The staff checked in on us a couple of times and were helpful, friendly and gracious. Parking was adequate and there was seating inside and on the patio outside. The patio was nice and it looks like it would be even prettier at night with the lights they have strung up around the patio and trees. Both looked comfortable. We can't wait to come back!

First time visitors, and we are so glad to have found this place! Food was incredible, portions were great, and the people there were so friendly! Will definitely be coming back to bring my bbq fanatic grandparents :-) Also the outdoor seating was so cozy and welcoming.

I am not sure if I want to share this cause if it truly is found there will be wait times. Marvin the chef knows what he is doing. We ordered the sampler so we could try all their barbecued meats; ribs, chicken, pulled pork, turkey with a side of coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The meat will melt in your mouth and the barbecue sauce is perfect. The coleslaw is a vin egret which is a nice change from chain restaurants. The service here is exceptional. Thank you Alex, Christian, chef and everyone else who made our experience so special. Ambience is nice plenty of tables outside and inside. Heat lamps with music playing They have been around for 20 years! Hidden gem for sure. Yum!

Chopped brisket, burnt ends, ribs, macaroni & cheese, coleslaw, cornbread, and pulled pork! All the staples.

It was the perfect mix of sweet, bready, and jalapeño-honey goodness without being too dry. The mac & cheese was also YUM! I personally wouldn't order the Brussels sprouts again, but that's purely because I prefer my Brussels baked. They weren't bad -- just not my favorite preparation. What made the whole experience even better was the immaculate service and incredible ambiance. The decor was so thoughtfully done, and I especially loved that they had a REAL sink with REAL soap. While searching for reservations, I came across Manpuku Japanese BBQ. I honestly didn't know much about it, but a handful of photos immediately caught my attention. Something about the presentation, atmosphere, and quality of the food made me curious enough to give it a shot. I was fortunate enough to secure a reservation the day before and sent the restaurant a message letting them know we would be celebrating my wife's birthday. Right away they were accommodating, responsive, and excited to help make the evening special. Parking was probably the most difficult part of the entire experience. We happened to get lucky and grabbed a spot just as another car was leaving. If not, I believe there is additional parking available nearby, but thankfully we didn't have to worry about that. Walking into the restaurant was my first surprise. For some reason, I expected a large bustling dining room. Instead, Manpuku felt intimate and welcoming. The soft lighting and wood accents created a cozy atmosphere that felt perfect for a special occasion. The restaurant was also spotless, with clean and organized dining areas and grilling stations. Instead of seating us at a traditional table, we were escorted to a private-style dining area where we removed our shoes before stepping into the seating space. It immediately made the evening feel unique and added to the intimate atmosphere. Now let's talk about our server. Hannah was outstanding. Since it was our first visit, she walked us through the menu, explained the different cuts, discussed preparation methods, asked about allergies, and provided recommendations throughout the evening. She was knowledgeable, professional, and personable, making us feel genuinely welcomed. Her attention and care helped make my wife's birthday dinner memorable. For our meal, we selected the A5 Wagyu Omakase. The experience started with beautifully presented appetizers, including Uni and Beef Sashimi, Seared Beef Sushi, Japanese salad, kimchi, and several small bites. The seared beef sushi was rich and buttery, while the Uni paired wonderfully with the beef. The A5 Wagyu selections were the highlight of the meal. Chuck short rib, culotte, chuck roll, and inner skirt each offered distinct textures and flavors, all showcasing the richness and tenderness that make A5 Wagyu special. The quality was evident in both the presentation and taste. And then there was the A5 Umami Rice. Despite being part of a Wagyu-focused meal, it stood out as a flavorful and comforting dish that kept everyone reaching for another bite. The drinks were refreshing and paired well with the meal. One thing that made the evening even more special was being able to share the experience as a family. Between the intimate atmosphere, attentive service, and excellent food, it felt like more than just dinner. To top everything off, the staff surprised my wife with a birthday dessert presentation complete with a candle and thoughtful decoration. Seeing the smile on her face while celebrating alongside our daughter made the moment even more meaningful and reflected the hospitality we experienced throughout the night. For anyone considering the A5 Wagyu Omakase, come hungry. While the presentation is elegant, the experience includes multiple courses and a generous amount of food. By the end of the meal we were completely satisfied and felt that the experience justified the price. Exceptional service, quality ingredients, excellent food, and an intimate atmosphere made for a memorable celebration.

Anyway, hubby heard about a promo through AM 570 where if you dine in and whisper "570," you get their promo sando with a side AND a drink for $5.70, normally around $18! At that price, it's practically free, so obviously we had to investigate. We made sure to get there right before opening and waited about 10 minutes. Luckily, there were only two other parties ahead of us. While standing there, I couldn't help but notice that this entire food center is literally smack dab in the middle of residential homes. I feel for the poor neighbors next door and across the street who probably have to deal with all the traffic and noise pollution. Thank goodness I don't live here. WELL...back to me and my food. As soon as the doors opened, they immediately started taking orders. Smoke Queen is basically fast casual with no indoor seating, but they have a cute backyard patio that probably seats around 30 people. If that's full, you can wander into the surrounding outdoor food hall--which I later discovered is Cottage Industries--where there are plenty of little seating areas scattered around. The only thing that is NOT plentiful? Parking. More on that another time. For the promo, I got the brisket sando with dirty rice, and hubby got the pulled pork sando with cornbread, both with fountain drinks. After ordering, we waited about 10 minutes before our little ringer buzzed and our food was ready. First thing I appreciated: the sandos don't come drowning in BBQ sauce. THANK YOU. You can add as much or as little as you want, which is perfect for people like us who aren't huge fans of super sweet BBQ sauces. My brisket was tender and well made, although for some reason I couldn't really taste much smoke. I swear I have this problem at BBQ places--am I the problem?! Either way, the meat itself was good, and their BBQ sauce had a nice balance of tartness and flavor that really helped bring the sandwich together without overpowering it. The dirty rice was also good, although I expected a little more umph. It seemed like a genius way to make use of all those precious little brisket and pulled pork bits left behind from cutting the meats--instead of letting those scraps go to waste, throw them into some rice! I fully support using every last morsel of BBQ goodness. BUT...if that's the idea, give me more of those meat pieces! Mine could've definitely used a little more. Hubby's pulled pork was good as well, but again...where's the smoke?! Maybe it's just our taste buds. Overall, the meats were tender, the food was good, the people were nice, and for $5.70, this promo was an absolute STEAL. At the normal price point, though, while I thought everything was well made, nothing quite grabbed me enough that I'd be rushing back anytime soon. Still, I'm glad we finally discovered Smoke Queen after apparently being the last people on Yelp to know it existed.
