4.5 Came here for dinner, 3 of us, thinking we had made a reservation which apparently didn't go through. But they graciously squeezed us in (although were moved half way through). Really beautiful setting and ambience. Some dishes were amazingly delicious like the Brussels , the fish, the butterscotch pudding. Boulliabase was disappointing for me - very salty. But overall a great dinner and night!

We capped off our day trip to MV with dinner at Beach Road, and the meal did not disappoint! We came as a large group for a celebration, and both the service and the sunset views were phenomenal. The vibes felt very relaxed and charming, yet still sophisticated and upscale at the same time. Service was attentive and friendly, and they were very knowledgeable about the menu. All of the seafood that we ate was delicious - the hamachi crudo was fresh with well-balanced flavors, and the spanish octopus was tender. We got the atlantic cod and bouillabaisse as mains, both excellent. Would definitely return for a special night out!

Food was excellent. Staff Waitstaff was very pleasant and efficient. Would definitely return. Had a seafood special of the day - Halibut - while my wife enjoyed a pesto pasta dish with Lobster. Both were very good.

Celebrated our wedding anniversary at Beach Road. Last year we celebrated at State Road, and they had a little gift for us and recognized the event. I informed Beach Road when I made the reservation, but they didn't acknowledge it at all. So that was the disappointing part. However, the food was great and our server, Sam C. was wonderful. She really made it fun and special. My husband had the lamb meatballs and loved them. (I don't like lamb.) I tried the shrimp tempura appetizer, and it was delicious! 6 delicious shrimp and some tempura green beans too. Highly recommend. Fun drinks too. My grilled pineapple and ginger infused tequila cocktail was delicious. My husband loved his bourbon amaro cocktail too. We both commented that the flavors were distinct and layered, and they weren't too sweet. My main course bouillabaisse was delicious, with the largest aioli toast! Flavor was spot on. It's difficult to find a mixed shellfish dish on Martha's Vineyard, that isn't a pasta. My husband loved his lobster pasta, with lots of lobster. We shared the delicious chocolate mousse cake with fresh berries. Again, not too sweet! The decor is very nice, with a beautiful view of the pond, if it is light out. One thing, pillows for the banquet seats would be helpful. Both I, and the woman in the next seat over, were trying to stuff our coats behind us to make the seating more comfortable.

    Lamb Chops

To die for food. I started with the lamb chops and the cocktail 'love+ happiness'. I would come back just for the lamb chops. I also had a dirty martini, which was perfection and the New York Strip. This is the best restaurant on the vineyard in my opinion (I've tried them all), I will be back. My bartender Adrienne was amazing and had wonderful service!

During our trip to Martha's Vineyard last fall, we visited Beach Road Restaurant. We arrived shortly before they opened for dinner, and there were more than a handful of people waiting outside. We didn't make a reservation, but we were able to get counter seats before it filled up. We started our dinner with some cocktails. I ordered Sangria and my hubby ordered Gentleman's Agreement. Sangria didn't look like Sangria, it had no fruit, and not fruity at all, and not sweet. Gentleman's Agreement was inventive and creative. I liked it much more than the Sangria. For appetizer, we ordered Brioche Bread with Chive Butter. It was impressive just to look at, beautifully baked to golden color, with soft, fluffy, cloud-like inside. The chive butter was great too. I totally understand the popularity of it. After just one bite, you will also fall in love with this loaf... Oysters, half dozen comes in an order, three different kinds. The oysters were fresh, not fishy, and delicious! For main, I chose Lobster Linguini. First few bites were sinful and delightful, but then it became a bit too salty for me. The flavor of the dish was great though, if it were just slightly less salty, it would have been perfect. My hubby chose Halibut, it was so good! Perfectly crunchy on top, with flaky and moist fillet, delicious! We had a lovely dinner there, with tasty drinks and food. I definitely recommend the Brioche, it is to die for!

Our server made several mistakes throughout the evening and had an unexpectedly aggressive attitude. He forgot my sister's wine twice, brought out an incorrect order, and mishandled my mom's dessert request. There was also confusion around the dessert order. My mom wanted one scoop of gelato and asked about the available flavors. The server was very unclear, using "sorbet" and "gelato" interchangeably throughout the conversation. In the end, she ordered one scoop of "lemon gelato," as he described it, which should have been $3. So we were surprised when the bill came and showed a $14 charge for lemon sorbet--which wasn't even listed on the menu. When we pointed this out, the server responded in a pretty surly manner, though the charge was eventually corrected. After we paid, he brought over a scoop of vanilla gelato and said it was "on him," but the delivery felt sarcastic and he placed it on the table quite aggressively. By that point, we were already full and honestly just ready to leave. Overall, the food and atmosphere were great, but the poor service really put a damper on the evening and left us ending the night on a negative note. Since we were a party of six, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to our bill, which was unfortunate given the level of service we received.

The restaurant is a beautiful, elegant but cozy spot. The outdoor seating is absolutely beautiful for a nice evening. We were there right at opening and were seated outside fairly quickly! Our waiter was welcoming and pleasant. Wished me a happy birthday (multiple times) but nice. There was a cute birthday card at the table but nothing more (most high end establishments usually offer a glass of champs, but I digress ) The menu is moderate not overwhelming with too many options. How do you NOT start your meal with Oysters Rockefeller when they are on the menu? Great choice, they were creamy and delicious. I am typically not a pasta girl but something was calling me about the Mushroom Bolognese! So....I ordered it. Along with a glass of Filipa Pato, which was fabulous! The pasta was phenomenal and I don't use that word lightly, it was amazing. My friend ordered the Bobo's Two Pound Wok Fired Island Lobster and she loved it. She paired her meal with a Smokey old fashioned. No notes! So after a great meal we a bought the check and offer up two cards for our separate checks. Somehow our waiter ends up charging both checks to my credit card. I didn't realize it until the next day. How does that happen. An almost perfect review, but attention to detail matters. Would I return, absolutely! Go enjoy!

We started with the lobster and caviar Hawaiian roll, which was flavorful and delicious. The grilled octopus served over pork and white beans was another standout--the flavor profile here was top tier. Honestly, the appetizers had me expecting the rest of the meal to be on the same level. Unfortunately, the entrées were a different story. The rack of lamb was cooked perfectly temperature-wise, but the lack of seasoning was unbelievable. The execution was there, but it desperately needed flavor. We also ordered the halibut, which was extremely dry--to the point that I couldn't finish it. The sides brought things back around. The jalapeño corn and Brussels sprouts were both and packed with flavor. And then there was the Filthy Dirty Rich Martini with caviar-stuffed olives --AMAZING. Easily one of the highlights of the night and something I would absolutely order again. Overall, 19 Raw nails the ambiance, cocktails, appetizers, and service. The appetizers in particular showed just how good the kitchen can be, which made the disappointing entrées even more surprising. I'd come back, but next time I might stick to cocktails, appetizers, and small plates.

The Hen of the Woods appetizer was dry, brittle, and nearly flavorless -- more like straw than a thoughtfully prepared dish. Without the green peppercorns and Dijon mustard I happened to have with me, it would have been inedible. The Duck Confit was similarly disappointing: overcooked, dry, and again nearly impossible to enjoy without the condiments I brought. Service issues added to the frustration. The red Burgundy wine I ordered didn't arrive until nearly dessert, even after I asked another server to remind my server to bring it. Dessert came with only half a cup of decaf coffee and no cream, despite my request. Overall, I felt ignored rather than cared for. What should have been a highlight of my vacation became one of its lowest points. I truly hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously, because the experience did not match the level of quality or hospitality one should expect at this price point. So we went to 9 Craft Kitchen for what we thought would be a higher-tier food experience for my wife's birthday. We do this almost every year we are here in MV. I originally booked at Atria (Edgertown) but canceled and booked here because we did Atria the last time we were here. From the moment we entered the establishment, the hostesses greeted us almost coldly, without many words. I explained that I initially booked the reservation for 3, but our son got sick at the last minute, so it would be just the two of us. Sometimes there are sensitivities around the party size, but the restaurant was completely empty. She sat us down in the back of the room, without much interaction. That's fine, but it goes against the warmth other restaurants show guests when they enter. Several minutes later (about 10) a waiter shows up with water, again, no words, and leaves. She comes back a few moments later with menus and returns a minute later with a question about the drinks we are going to order. The whole interaction has my wife lifting her eyebrow in a manner that I understood as, "That's weird." There was a coldness that was present, which at first we thought maybe was because the place was empty. It was 4 p.m., so right after the lunch crowd, but before the dinner rush. So we ordered drinks, and that interaction was fine; the drinks arrived with a bit more interaction and professionalism when she said, I hope you enjoy your drinks. Would you like to order appetizers and/or dinner? Ok, so maybe the in-between reservation was unusual for them. Ok, I get it. We ordered a few appetizers and 2 entrees. I went to the bathroom, and I could see the wait staff huddled together, laughing at something. When I came back to my seat, they were still huddled together, laughing at something. That didn't bother me, since they weren't busy, but it also explains the lack of interaction and the pause between menus and drinks being served. We didn't wait long for our appetizers. But that's where the issues really start to rear their heads. By the time she brought the appetizers, we had already finished our drinks. We were going to ask for another round, but she brought the appetizers so quickly that I guess she forgot to ask. We ate our appetizers, and there was about a 25-minute wait before she came to remove them and make room for our entrees. We thought she would interact with us then and ask how our appetizers were or whether we wanted another round of drinks. Silly me, she did neither. She removed the apps and came back within the next 2 minutes with our entrees. At this point, she asked if we needed anything else. I said no, and she left. After we ate our entrees, she came back and asked if we needed anything else. I said no, just the check. The whole experience was rushed, as if we were interrupting staff service or something. Bad service happens sometimes. All of us have had bad days in the office or at work. Somehow, the level of service and interaction here doesn't reflect the service on the island, which, at places like Atlantic Fish & Chop House, was outstanding and warm. Like they wanted us back. Same for Rockfish. Even places like Biscuits, which is always packed, remain warm and friendly. The service here was subpar. Even the hostess's interaction left us feeling like, hmmm. The food was solid, but I wouldn't call this place an upper-tier restaurant. There were certainly some racial undertones at play, but again, everyone has bad days at work. As we say, life by lifeing sometimes. But as we spread the word to our friends about our experience here, we have heard this isn't an isolated experience. And for that, we say, hmm, ok. We won't be back. There are just too many other higher-tier restaurants to eat at to experience this and feel like we should give it another go. I thought you all should know.
