    chili cheese fries
    Jessica G.

I was relaxing on the beach and looking for a nearby spot to grab a quick bite. This place was convenient since it was like a two minute walk from me. I ordered the chili cheese fries which were okay. They were $10 and the stand accepts both cash and card. The biggest plus was the location since you can just walk over from the beach. It's a decent option if you are looking for something quick and convenient while on the beach.

I wasn't expecting much since this is literally a little shack on the beach. I got a pizza slice and it was so good! Very unexpectedly delicious!!! I would probably get a slice here every time I come it was super good. Girl working was super sweet too!

On a cool evening, I was craving a filling meal with a glorious view. I got just that when I visited this café and ordered the All Beef Hot Dog. It was the perfect meal since while I was enjoying it, I was able to enjoy the beachside views along with the beautiful ocean. I was happy and enjoyed the rest of the weekend evening. The service was kind and I also parked nearby without any issues. If you are ever in the area when going to this beach, I would definitely recommend this place!

Great place for a snack. The chicken tenders were just alright, but they were exactly what I needed.

I bike along the beach regularly and this is a great little beach cafe at the end of the bike path so it's a great place to refuel for the return trip back. They have a large variety of food. Everything from burgers and hot dogs to Tacos and even a full menu of desserts.

The worst fish and chips ever.

On my way from malibu to santa monica Pier, I stopped by this place. I thought that instead of eating another burger, maybe I should try something a little more healthy, so I ordered the fish and chips. Had I known what I was getting, I would have stuck to the burger. I got three pieces of battered fish that were drenched in oil. Oil was literally dripping off of them. The fries were soft and oily. One of the pieces of fishe was not even cooked all the way through and was rubbery. For nearly $16, it was the worst food I have ever had. In fact, it was worse than the burger I got almost 20 years ago at Joe's Greasy Spoon at a truck stop on I-84 in Pennsylvania. If I could give no stars, I would. Don't waste your money here and have mercy on your body. EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I loved the convenience of this beach cafe! First off they take cash only. There is an ATM available for your convenience however it comes with a fee. The cafe has their prices listed which was helpful. They have a range of items-hamburger, fries, pizza, ice cream, chips, drinks, candy. We ordered fries and ice cream, it was a perfect snack for us. The fries were delicious. They were busy when I went on a weekend but the line goes fast, thank goodness because there is no shade on a hot day. They are located right next to the bathrooms and near the parking lot. They have a couple of tables with umbrellas for customers. They provide boxes for you to carry your items back with you if you are taking it back to the beach like I was. Awesome place, we will be back!

Great view, nice selection of good food for breakfast or lunch, super kid friendly due to being located next to the playground at the beach. Nice attentive staff. Don't order the house coffee it's pretty gross! The latte would be a better choice. Reasonable pricing.

Located at the entrance of Will Rogers State Beach lies the Beach Side Cafe. It is true what other Yelpers have said about this place- no customer service, no napkins or utensils and only ketchup and mustard made readily available. Oh, and CASH ONLY. There is an ATM if you need it though. The prices are steep; we ordered a grilled cheese, fries and turkey sandwich and it cost $19. My fries were cold and soggy but the sandwiches were decent. The only thing this place has going for them is their location so if you're willing to walk a little farther South, I highly encourage you go to Perry's Cafe where the seating and condiments are ample and abundant.

Okay place but overprice the menu items other than what the menu says plus charges extra 75 cents at the end. Not very good food either.

Four star for convenience and how inexpensive it is. It is cash only, which sucks but there is an ATM. I was scared it was going to be an expensive fee but it was only $3.50. Glad it was there, I was hungry and only had chips and drinks! Can't complain!

    Bacon Cheeseburger and Fries. $13.75

Great options for food when on the beach! Portions are great too. CASH ONLY. Prices: A meal with Cheeseburger, fries, and drink is about $14. Burgers are about $7 plus $1 for any bacon or add ons. Burgers come with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickle. Ice cream starts at about $5. Fries are about $6 if you're just ordering a side, and the portion is huge. Food: All of my food was delicious. The fries are definitely frozen, and were a little overcooked, but still good. I enjoyed it all. Food is served in a handy uncovered box that you can easily walk back to your beach area. They provide napkins and packets of ketchup. Seating: They have a few tables available Prep time: You'll wait about 15 minutes for your order. (I went on a pretty busy day) Staff: The lady that served me was very nice and accommodating.

Parking in Santa Monica is rarely easy, so I considered it a small victory when I actually found free street parking in the neighborhood during my most recent visit. My go-to order is usually the D'Lox Toast or the D'Lox Sandwich, but this time I opted for the D'Lox on a bagel. It was absolutely delicious as always, though seeing the $20.65 price tag for a bagel sandwich is always a bit of a shock each and every time. And, of course, I couldn't resist pairing it with a Wazuka Matcha. Another $8.50 later, I had one of my favorite matcha drinks in hand. All said and done, breakfast for one came to $32.28, which is pretty steep especially for a place where you order at the counter and find your own table. That said, the quality is consistently excellent. The ingredients are fresh, everything tastes great, and I always enjoy my meal and overall experience at Urth Caffe. If the prices were a bit more reasonable (and the crowds a little smaller), this would easily be a five star spot for me. Until then, it's still a place I'll happily return to whenever my friends want to go.

While I am not at all vegan, it can be a fantastic change of pace when trying a cuisine that is not at all my regular routine. Happily, Variable has tons of choices, and we loved what we got. I was drawn towards the 'N Seoul Bowl' (Korean spicy plant based pork, house marinated Kimchi, organic edamame, steamed organic spinach, carrot, steamed broccoli, onion , organic shiitake, topped with green onion and sesame seeds and side organic quinoa). So good, a bit spicy, and so many flavors on the plate it was impossible to not only love it, but I could not finish it, either. That goes from all their dishes. They are big, and in our experience, it came out piping hot soon after ordering it. My companion tried the 'Indian Tikka Masala' (homemade Indian curry, broccoli, cauliflower, zucchini, yellow squash, potatoes, cabbage, chickpea, micro green, Served with blend wild Jasmin rice and Indian Flat Bread). Tastes so fresh, hearty, with just enough of a kick to it. I look forward to trying some of their other dishes, too. The burger that the table near us ordered looked fantastic. For an "all-day cafe," that felt like a bit of a misrepresentation. Since it was very, very hot outside, I was disappointed that they were serving lukewarm water. Unfortunately, there was no vegan pizza on the menu, but our first waiter was very, very nice and friendly, and he had the kitchen accommodate us by omitting the cheese, substituting olive oil for chili oil, and adding spinach. The pizza turned out to be very thin, but yummy, and my party also enjoyed the ceviche. I had an iced coconut coffee that was absolutely delicious. After our first waiter ended his shift, our second waiter, Mike H., took over the table and never checked on us not even one single time after someone dropped off the food. When a small issue came up with one of the plates, he was just so nonchalant and dismissive, and Mike didn't add to the ambiance of the place at all. Fortunately, I believe it was a manager who then stepped in with a smile and addressed the issue, which was really nice. Aside from that unfortunate service experience, the food and drinks were tasty, but the misleading menu hours, lukewarm water on a hot day, and inattentive waiter definitely left room for improvement.
