Came here with friends for the DineLA $45 3-course + comp glass of wine dinner and to Malibu Village for the first time. We got lost finding the restaurant. Better signage was needed. Marmalade Cafe needed to be among the restaurants listed on the fork along the road as people drive in. Even my GPS red dot was past the actual site. We parked in the lot at the end of the road, called the restaurant and was told to look for the Wells Fargo Bank toward the ocean and found it. We sat in the patio. We had the warm spinach artichoke cheese dip (barely touched it bc it was too cheesy) with chips (chips were great!), spicy tuna tartare, Brussels sprouts (good!), prime rib, mashed potatoes (ok), string beans almondine (string beans were a little overcooked), chicken (bland), broccolini (good!), roasted potatoes (ok), homemade tiramisu (delicious) and molten lava chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream (fair per my friend). Great service. We each had a glass of white wine that was Included with dinner. Great deal! Food was generous, decent not wow. Restaurant is also on InKind to get 20% off. We lucked out in getting a $50 off $100 on InKind thru 8/31. There's a 3% surcharge for restaurant operations. Free parking on the lot. There's no view of the ocean from the restaurant. It's in the first right in the Malibu Village parking lot near Wells Fargo bank even though there's no mention of the restaurant on the fork.

    Perfect Malibu breakfast

I'd love to come to this place. It is always so comfortable and it's one of my favorite places to go, but I'm an early morning Riser so I know how to be careful and make sure I don't come too late because then the place is packed but I love the tomato soup, absolute favorite and what's kept me coming back for years and years and years besides the great service? Has to be the breakfast burrito. I absolutely love that. Mainly it's the type of bacon they use thick and it's delicious and you can't ignore the homemade salsa that comes with the chips that are garnished on the side... I love the coffee too always deliver with such class!!

Came here for lunch on Mother's Day. First off it was great to be able to get a reservation for 8 about a week before mother day. This is my first time at this location. I ate at the one in Sherman oaks for years but it has been a while. Colleen was our server. A 24 year vet at this location and she was very nice and accommodating. Quick with recommendations and refills. We were seated immediately and service overall was really fast. The restaurant was crowded both inside and out but it didn't seem overbooked. We started with the tuna tartare. It was fresh and flavorful. We also had a grilled artichoke that people really loved. The entrees were basically pretty good. I had the fried chicken sandwich with fries. Nothing to write home about and I would probably not order it again. The same is said about the chicken and waffles someone ordered. The vegan burger and the regular burger seemed to be hits. The pancakes apparently went down like butter. All in all it was enjoyable. I will say that the restaurant could definitely use a refresh. The plates all seemed tired. The vibe was a little tired. I think just a little bit of love (and money) would go a long way at this location.

    Garlic shrimp linguine
    Iryna N.

We had lunch at Marmalade today. It was not very busy and after asking a waiter we just picked our own table. I got shrimp linguine and my boyfriend got the Branzino. My pasta was pretty disappointing tbh. It was not hot, barely any sauce, and the shrimp were overcooked and not seasoned. My boyfriend fish was okay, but small portion and didn't taste super fresh. Freshly fried fish should be crispy, but this one felt like it had been sitting for a while. Other people food honestly looked better, so maybe we just picked the wrong dishes. Service was okay and atmosphere was average. Overall, probably not a place I would go back to.

California Lamb Burger and Chicken Parmesan
    Sherry P.

Below average food in comparison to the many amazing cafes and restaurants in the LA area. Nice ambience sitting outside and very friendly server, but chicken parmesan was very dry and the chicken was tiny compared to the huge portion of pasta (probably 3x any chicken parm I have had before). Didn't seem fresh. Lamb burger was ok, nothing special.

    Gilson's Scramble
    Ashlee B.

Tried the Gilson's scramble while exploring Malibu for a day trip. It was delicious! The scramble had the right combination of fresh avocado and crispy bacon with some home style potatoes. I say this often, but I will be returning to try other items on the menu.

    Chopped Italian, Garlic Shrimp Linguine

The Chopped Italian Salad and Garlic Shrimp Linguine were perfectly cooked. The outdoor seating area was especially relaxing and perfect for enjoying a meal on a beautiful day.

    Classic Eggs Benedict

It's a nice looking, casual restaurant for brunch, however the food was below average. I got the eggs benedict and it was pretty bland. The potatoes had no seasoning, and everything just tasted like it had no salt. My friend got the breakfast burrito and said similar things. servers were nice and checked up often.

Service was great the food was okayyyy I think my sandwich was just not as good as I thought it would be but the sweet potato fries were bomb

The absolute best place for Breakfast! The service was amazing and we loved the outdoor seating. The Ambiance was super chill, perfect for a Sunday morning! The lox and bagels and chicken and waffles were amazing!!! Definitely will come back, if we are in the area again!!

I ordered the chicken teriyaki and subbed sushi rice for salad (the chef paired it with the most amazing seaweed salad), and my husband ordered the salmon bowl and subbed sushi rice for mixed greens as well. The salmon was soft, melted in your mouth and truly on par with the salmon I had in Japan!! The chicken was delicious as well - and the veggies paired with it in the bowl were really tasty. The seating area could use a bit more work, as I felt like the food felt authentic and a hidden gem but the prices for the dishes were on par with that of a sit-down restaurant! You order at the front and pay first, then a server brings the food to your table (if you decide to sit there). We came on Fourth of July for a little bday lunch - and I'm so happy I got to spend my birthday trying out another great restaurant! Will definitely be back and/or check out the Agoura Hills location!

However, we walked in a little after 3:00 PM and found out we couldn't order smoothies (which end at 3:00) or breakfast items (which end much earlier at 11:00). For an "all-day cafe," that felt like a bit of a misrepresentation. Since it was very, very hot outside, I was disappointed that they were serving lukewarm water. Unfortunately, there was no vegan pizza on the menu, but our first waiter was very, very nice and friendly, and he had the kitchen accommodate us by omitting the cheese, substituting olive oil for chili oil, and adding spinach. The pizza turned out to be very thin, but yummy, and my party also enjoyed the ceviche. I had an iced coconut coffee that was absolutely delicious. After our first waiter ended his shift, our second waiter, Mike H., took over the table and never checked on us not even one single time after someone dropped off the food. When a small issue came up with one of the plates, he was just so nonchalant and dismissive, and Mike didn't add to the ambiance of the place at all. Fortunately, I believe it was a manager who then stepped in with a smile and addressed the issue, which was really nice. Aside from that unfortunate service experience, the food and drinks were tasty, but the misleading menu hours, lukewarm water on a hot day, and inattentive waiter definitely left room for improvement.

It was absolutely delicious as always, though seeing the $20.65 price tag for a bagel sandwich is always a bit of a shock each and every time. And, of course, I couldn't resist pairing it with a Wazuka Matcha. Another $8.50 later, I had one of my favorite matcha drinks in hand. All said and done, breakfast for one came to $32.28, which is pretty steep especially for a place where you order at the counter and find your own table. That said, the quality is consistently excellent. The ingredients are fresh, everything tastes great, and I always enjoy my meal and overall experience at Urth Caffe. If the prices were a bit more reasonable (and the crowds a little smaller), this would easily be a five star spot for me.
