One of the better shave ice on the island. My sister and I have been trying to find a shave ice shop that we like on island and so far, this one is a go to. It reminds me of my youth, from when the ice cream man used to come drive by our neighborhood for a cup of rainbow shave ice with ice cream for $.85. The texture of the ice is perfect, not too soft or icy. The flavors are very homey and nostalgic to me. Their coffee is also good, they have specials written on a board by the window you order at. Every time we come here, it changes but they typically still have the older drink specials still available. read more

My husband I tried the Kihei Sunrise shave ice and the Firecracker shave ice. We loved the ice cream in the bottom of the shave ice but found that the syrup flavors weren't very distinct or strong, and the prices were pretty steep for what we got. It was within walking distance of our condo, though, so it was very convenient to get to, and we walked along Kamaole II while eating our shave ice, which was nice. read more

Went for a walk and saw a line outside this place. Some hardworking chaps pulled together a one of these Papaya boats - it was spectacular. We got the chia pudding with granola in a half papaya. Parts of the papaya were ripe and very sweet but parts of it wasn't ripe and/or bland. The pudding was good I think... it was my first time having chia pudding. It needed a bit more sweetener but I did read some recipes for chia pudding don't add any sweetener. We also got an açaí bowl and it was refreshing, not the best quality açaí and the portion was a bit small for the price. Same for the papaya pudding. Wouldn't go back here again if we were ever on Maui. They were really nice though! But we came specifically for these two items and it was just subpar. Hands-down, the best tasting coffee we've had on the island. The flavors were great. We ordered a surf up, which was a hot latte with coconut and macadamia nut. WOWIE MAUI!! Some of the best coffee I've had. We even heard a guy from Seattle in front of us say this was the best coffee he has had. The guy behind the counter was super friendly and was making conversation with people as they ordered. Our last day in Maui so we had to get one more shaved ice. This was pretty close to our area as well but we keep coming by too late that its always closed. Finally, we came early enough. We got shaved ice and a papaya float. The shaved ice was good and soft. I definitely like that there was more ice cream than shaved ice hahaha. However, the ice cream was just vanilla since they have no other flavor. For the price, its pretty good size. The papaya boat was pretty good as well. It's half a papaya with option of yogurt or chia topped with granola. It's definitely a refreshing dish. I like that they have other healthy concepts here such as acai bowls and fruit parfaits as well as drinks and breakfast items. Friendly folks at beach street serving up fresh bowls and smoothies. Everything is fresh, easy parking right next door and when showed up on a weekday in November, the service was quick and friendly. The papaya boat was pretty but the açaí was bowl was the star and was so fresh and delicious. I was a bit worried from some of the reviews about speed of operation but it's a small shop and just two people working the store so I can see it backing up a bit but if you settle it into island time I'm sure it's all good. Went to Kamaole I park to play in ocean and beach. After an hour we decided to swing by and grab some shaved ice (we noticed this spot earlier). We walked up and checked out the menu - deciding on the "Pink Plumeria" (Lychee & guava & pineapple) & "Green Flash" (melona & pina colada) - both delicious. We got larges (2) to share. Read a lot of positive reviews for this place so was excited to give it a shot...and honestly the shaved Ice and drinks were not bad at all, but this place had by far the worst service I had on Maui. While other businesses and really most people I interacted with in general on Maui had plenty of 'aloha' and were pleasant, the staff here was beyond rude. They forgot a topping on our shaved ice and not only didn't want to admit it, but when we showed them their own menu and proved that we should have gotten an additional topping, they reluctantly added 2-3 pieces into our empty bowl... Definitely don't come here when there are so many better options like Ululani's or Gus the bus for shaved ice and plenty of other places for coffee/smoothies/drinks. read more

By far I would come to Beach street than Ululani's Hawaiian Shave Ice. The line at beach street only takes around 10-15 min depending at the time of day and is way more cheaper than Ululani's. At Ululani's you have to pay extra for ice cream, and mochi balls. But at Beach street it come with ice cream and mochi balls (depending on which flavor you get.) The shaved ice is the perfect amount of sweetness to not get your stomach upset. read more

Came here for shaved ice on a Saturday afternoon because it was conveniently located near where we were staying. There was a short line (less than 10 people in front of us) so we waited. Line moved fast and we were able to grab a two seats at the counter to eat at. We got the Kihei Sunset, which has the unexplained flavor of "shark blood" (strawberry coconut - we asked), which was just okay. Of note, it was about 90 degrees outside and the staff poured "room temp" (aka REALLY WARM) syrup on top of the shaved ice, so it basically melts right away. Flavors also aren't really that fruity and the prices are not low, so just skip this and go to Ululani's for way better quality and flavor selection. read more

Their blended drink menu is so amazing that I came here 3 times during my trip. Where else can you get ice cream blended into your morning coffee every day. It's such a sweet, cold treat to start your day in the hot, Maui summer air. Their chailicious (chai, frozen bananas, ice cream) is delicious! Picture and description says layered twice!!! Previous owners served it that way. New owner puts all fruit on the bottom which means you can't stir it without spilling the granola every where. I asked if they could double layer it or put it in a bowl to make it easier and was told no. They did agree to stir it and I watched him struggle, spilling the granola, unable to reach the bottom of the cup, giving up and adding more granola before he handed it to me.
