No to-go cups (but you can purchase a jar for a nominal fee) and no to-go containers, but they'll hook you up with something if you're desperate. Great little shop to fulfill you caffeine needs. They even put you drink in a mason jar for an extra dollar. I ordered iced americano and the flavor was out of this world. Places like this make me never want to go to Starbucks ever again. It's unfortunate that Starbucks is the most convenient and that there is not a Beachcombers in Roseville. This small little spot also serves breakfast and has an assortment of pastries if you are in a hurry. The staff are wonderful and very patient with you if it is your first time and taking a while to figure out your order. They will make drinks anyway you like it. Cozy little spot with delicious baked goods just feet away from a beautiful scenic view of the water. I had something in between a berry crumble and a bread pudding, never had anything quite like it but it was delicious. So good that I went back to get a second one for the road and they were unable to charge me an amount less than five dollars which was kind of disappointing as I had just spent eight dollars a few moments prior. Seems like they should be able to throw a $.50 surcharge on the transactions to serve the customer, but she politely refused. Bummer. read more

Its a tiny place in this small town with amazing breakfast food. Its all locally grown, fresh and well prepared. I got the eggy bagel with thinly sliced avocados. The food is excellent. The staff is so pretentious that it reminds me of an episode of Portlandia. The first time I went I wanted a coffee to bring with me down to the beach. I didn't know it was a major issue to ask for it to go, which made me an asshole. They had to have a huddle in the kitchen to decide what to do. I was told I could take a ceramic mug if I promised to bring it back. I said no because driving down the hill with a mug of sloshing coffee seemed like a bad idea. The next time I went was years later. I was working a craft show next door and needed a quick bite to have at my booth. When I asked for it to go, again, big issue that required a meeting in the kitchen. They put my food in an empty egg crate and gave it to me. That's a cross contamination food safety hazard, but they seemed to think I deserved to take the risk because only an asshole would ask for food to go. I can imagine asking for food to go and they make you hold it in your hands and drip hot food all over as you walk out the door while they judge you hard. But damn it, the food is really good. 10% discount if you tell them you drive a Prius and enjoy the smell of your own farts. read more

We love the Beachcomber Cafe! This review is for the one in Trinidad. It's a cute little cafe with a very artsy, funky (hippy) vibe. They specialize in fresh baked items (many gluten free) and healthy, fresh breakfast and lunch items, many with unusual and tasty twists. There are lots of delicious vegetarian and vegan choices. We've loved everything we've ever ordered here! They also have a dog-friendly patio. read more

Beachcomber just catered our 50 person workshop held in Trinidad town hall. They were able to provide all of us with scrumptious scones, coffee cake and muffins that were melt in your mouth delicious. Also served us organic coffee throughout the day to keep the wheels spinning. Lunch was a choice of two soups, coconut curry and roasted Brussels sprout, both delicious. With panini sandwiches and a variety of salads. Lemonade & iced tea went with lunch. Then warm chocolate chip cookies were delivered with brownies and snickerdoodles to keep all fed thru the afternoon. Everything was served with handmade labels identifying which foods fit special diets and the only addition to the landfill was recycled paper napkins. An almost zero waste event! Tea cups and mason jars were used for drinks. So wonderful to have chefs and bakers who can serve up local, delicious, organic food of the highest quality. All served with a smile. You will not regret stopping for coffee or lunch at the Beachcomber. read more

This place has the happiest & best vibes imaginable. We enjoyed the atmosphere for brunch (and we're happy it wasn't raining as the seating is outdoors) and tasted two dishes. First we had the Griz, but got avo instead of ham. This was enjoyable, and the focaccia was especially good, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Second was the bean bowl. Now here's a cool little eatery on the main street of Trinidad. What makes it so cool you ask? This is one of very few places Ive been that is serious about composting and encourages to bring your own container, and will loan out a cup for a few weeks if needed just to cut down on waste. Was suprised to see some potential customers walk out just because people didnt want to "borrow" one of their cups - but the fact that they stress sustainability over business is a huge positive for this cafe! Great menu selection and opted for the f*ckin phenomenal smoked salmon bagel w a side of avocado and an organic poached egg. Such an upbeat vibe in this place and the staff actually seem really happy and jam/sing to the music (which was a rockin' disco playlist at the time). Beachcomber Cafe seems like a community and local spot and I'm glad they stick to their roots! read more

Yes - as yelp says. I'm a fan! I've been here quite a few times over the past few years and it NEVER disappoints. I love the freshly baked goods and the granola. They also offer los bagels here, so I usually get one of those as well. MY friends have tried the sandwiches and say good things as well.. but I'm more of a breakfast food kinda gal. I love the blueberry/zucchini muffins. Do yourself a favor and come check this place out. The customer service is friendly & attentive, the location is easy to find and park. Plenty of seating! First off, C C.'s review is basically spot-on so it's going to be impossible to add to that. My experience was about the same. The food-and the coffee-has been the absolute best on my trip so far. I was actually sad when I finished off my bagel. Not because I was still hungry, but because I was running out of the sesame-seedy, vegan-y magic that I had been enjoying. I very much enjoyed being condescended by the staff, especially after reading other reviews. Eh, not worth the wait, or the hype. This place trades on being a big deal in a small town. So-so service and mediocre food were what I experienced, and there is no parking to speak of. Overall, I guess if you really need to try this, it's here, but it's nothing special. They have a patio, which is kind of convenient if you have a dog. Just know that this is a popular place, and you'll wait, and it will probably be pretty underwhelming. read more

We stayed in Trinidad for three days and ate here three times. We had coffee, bagels (the curl and lox), lemon strawberry vegan muffin, bean bowl (like a gorgeous version of huevos rancheros), granola with yogurt, turkey sandwich and a side salad; all were all excellent. Fresh flowers adorn every table. Interesting art hangs on the walls. There's a kid size table, private tables, couch-like seating, and community looking tables. Outdoor seating along the front or on the side to enjoy their flower/herb garden. On our last day, the two people ahead of us in line got frustrated and left as the cashier was explaining options to another customer. I was sad to see them leave and miss out on delicious food- but mostly, I wish they had taken the time to absorb the calm vibe of the place. It's a slower pace and items are obviously made with love. We found ourselves wishing Beachcomber Cafe were in our backyard as we would be regulars- without a doubt! Nice job, Ladies! Oh... and my girlfriend said the music you were playing in the kitchen sounded, "like they stole my iPod". We wish the music had been piped through the entire establishment. :) read more

My family and I were driving down from Portland to San Francisco through the 101 and asked a ranger at a national park if he knew any restaurants in the area--"only in Trinidad." Trinidad is a quaint little town with a wonderful view of the ocean with a cute little lighthouse--a perfect photo op! Up a block is Beachcomber Cafe, very earthy, hippy-ish in all the perfect ways. Tiny community tables, an abundance of bikes and dogs parked outside, a live musician (this is at 2 in the afternoon), and huge mismatch cups and signs of "help us conserve water, trees, [whatever]" everywhere we turned, a very eclectic, super nice crowd..lovely! We ordered a latte, a scone, an open-faced sandwich and lentil soup, and it took nearly 30 minutes for it to come out, but it didn't bother us one bit since the aura was so warm and charming. The food was superb, hands-down the best organic goods on the west coast. I'd be willing to make the rough 10 hour drive again just to be able to stop here again. read more

What an awesome place!! Pacific Chai, super-fun Mason jars as an option for take-out coffee (you can get a cozy!!). I don't know where they get they're smoked salmon (we checked at Katy's, no dice!), but OMG Lox on a bagel. Also, the peaches and spice scone was fresh out of the oven... K. Random hiker came in, played his dulcimer for a bit, helped with a bit of heavy lifting, and earned his breakfast. The coffee is delish and the chick working there was so funny. They have a sign that reads "Legend has it... there are no paper cups". I asked- are there really no paper cups and she said yes. But they have Mason jars they sell for $1 or they will wash out a cup you have. I told her we had cups in our van and she said "Go get them and I will get ALL UP in those cups"! LOL!! A pretty awesome local coffee shop. The drinks are great and so is the food. You pretty much can't go wrong here, though it should be advised, as others have noted, that they don't have to-go cups, though the mason jars they sell are affordable. I prefer to go here when I have time to kill. It's a small-town coffee shop, and it definitely carries that charm. If you're just in a hurry for a caffeine buzz, hit up Murphys or Chevron (the latter at your own risk). I've sometimes waited quite a few minutes while locals chit-chat or tourists hem and haw at the register, but I won't take any stars off for it, because that's part of the appeal of the place. It's not that it will ALWAYS take forever to order, but a shop like the Beachcomber caters to a slow, relaxed pace, so all I'm saying is don't COUNT on corporate quickness and being shuttled quickly and impersonally through the queue if you only have a minute to jump back in your car and be on your way. However, if you just want coffee and have your own cup, you may well be able to just toss a couple of bucks on the counter and avoid waiting. Anyway, it's a gem. Seating for about 20-25 inside, and there's also a patio with seating for 10-15. There's usually some local art on the wall, stuff for kids to play with, a single bathroom, and free wifi. I haven't explored all the food and drink options exhaustively, but just about anything you could order is made with care. I don't think they have anything that's been shipped in. They don't stay open very late, so it's not really an evening/night spot, but you could do much worse during the day. Take your time and enjoy. read more

The Most Amazing $5 Grilled Cheese of My Life. The first time I went, they were really busy for lunch. We ordered Grilled Cheese not expecting much because it's the cheapest thing on the menu. We weren't in a hurry so we just chilled in the cozy little area they have there. We thought they forgot about us. Maybe they did because when we finally got it, it came with this amazing yellow soup (larrupin?) AND IT WAS MIND BLOWING. The next time we came at a slower time, different people were working.
