I have also had braces, dozens of fillings, 5 root canals, crowns, etc etc. Dr. Calleros is THE MOST AMAZING dental practice I have ever experienced. Every single detail is top-notch: the client service, the advanced technology, the admin & customer service, the decor, the generosity, the oasis of positive energy and excellent talent - it's extraordinary. I just had an implant put in (#19) several hours ago. This involves local numbing and a series of 5 progressively larger drills into your jawbone. I literally walked home afterward, felt no pain during or after and didn't even take an Advil. It is because of Dr. Calleros' expertise, holistic approach, impeccable team, excellent bedside manner - she is simply the best. It's women-owned and women-run. First, let me say that my sister was an orthodontist on the East Coast. I am VERY PICKY about my dentist. I found Dr. Calleros after our family friend dentist retired. Dr. Calleros and her staff were amazing. Her staff treats patients with service akin to concierge. Lyndsay cleaned my teeth. She has great hands. I do not think getting your teeth cleaned should feel like you are donating blood! She was gentle yet firm and did a great job. Dr. Calleros replaced some old silver fillings. First, she was very considerate of any potential pain. The topical and numbing shots were done with care. She worked quickly and after treatment, I had no bite issues or flossing issues. Dr. Calleros also has really good hands. She called a day or two later to check on me. Dr. Calleros and her staff are amazing. Going to the dentist can be an extremely stressful experience. I'm changing my review. I left an amazing review for this dental practice approximately 4 years ago because my first visit was amazing. Unfortunately, my last visit with Calleros Dental was not pleasant at all. I needed a procedure that I was very nervous about because I had severe gag reflexes and some PTSD; so I spoke with the dental assistant before agreeing to the procedure, and she assured me that I would have anesthesia or some kind of medicine to sedate me. When I scheduled the procedure, the receptionist also said the same message and added that I should have someone drive me for the procedure so that I don't have to drive away under the influence. The day of my appointment, my husband came along. At the appointment, in the chair, we were told by the dentist that they do not sedate or even have that kind of medication in the office. I wanted to cancel, but I felt pressured and reluctantly agreed to have the procedure. BIG mistake. With the instruments in my mouth, I could not stop gagging and I could not move. I felt re-traumatized. After multiple attempts, we never finished the procedure because no matter how hard I tried, I could not control my gag reflexes and I was afraid of being hurt. Due to staff mis-communication and the inflexibility of the dentist, my procedure caused me severe anxiety. I have not been back, or to any dentist since that visit 4 years ago. I do not want or expect anything from them, but I'm only leaving this review so I can get closure and move on. read more

Dr Calleros and her staff did a phenomenal job! From the front desk staff, to all the assistants (Jackie and Gabby), the hygentist Lyndsay and especially Dr Calleros. They all were impressive at what they do. Very, very thorough. They also did a great job explaining everything step by step. Calleros Dental is everything you want and need from a dental practice. The front office staff goes above and beyond with establishing patient care and are very pleasant. The hygienists are very thorough, kind and like friends you want to visit regularly. Dr. Calleros goes above and beyond with whole body health dentistry and airway/sleep disordered breathing knowledge and is one of the most educated in the field, she helped my baby at birth with her lip tie! Okay, no one likes going to the dentist. I usually dread going and hate the sounds of things buzzing, uncomfortably keeping my mouth open, and wondering if I'm accidentally going to swallow whatever is going on in there. Yet despite all these things, visiting the Calleros Dental office is always pleasant. I visited thanks to a recommendation from a friend and the way the staff talked about her, I thought they were longtime pals. When I asked my friend, she said she was simply only a patient. That's how I knew I would like this place. They treat you so well, they're extremely friendly and kind, and you actually look forward to seeing them. I love the ladies at reception. They're so welcoming and kind. Marisa was my dental hygenist and seeing her felt like gal pal catch up time. I knew what was going on in her life, she knew what was happening in mine. It's kind of fun being able to dish about 6 months of life updates. They make sure you are comfortable during your visit. There's a TV you can watch that gets pulled right above you, and you can choose to wear headphones if you want to drown out the sounds of the tools. Cold? They'll cover you in a blanket. One time there was someone doing complimentary hand massages. This is not a regular thing, but boy, was it nice! If they recommend any extra work or enhancements, Dr. Calleros will explain it clearly for you to understand and there is no pressure. I've referred at least 5 of my colleagues here now who have also fallen for this dental practice. My regular cleanings and checkup were all covered under my insurance. I highly recommend Dr. Calleros and her team if you're looking to make a dentist visit a little more comfortable. I've since moved away but am going to miss this level of awesome service. Also, since it's right in downtown El Segundo, go hop around the corner for some delicious coffee from Blue Butterfly or Two Guns! read more

Reviewing a dentist is a tough job. It's not like reviewing a restaurant where you can (nearly) always expect to have a great time, every time. A dentist sometimes has good news for you - and once and awhile you find out some information that you really don't want to hear. I've been going to Dr. Calleros since she operated out of Redondo Beach in 1999. She started off with me by repairing and replacing some old dental work - a modest upfront investment - and now my teeth have been worry free for over ten years. The entire staff, including my all time favorite hygenist, are wonderful and caring. You get a really personal dental service with Dr. Calleros and her team. Just today, I had my teeth cleaned, floride treatment, and a lazer treatment for $72 with insurance. The last two items were optional - there was so pressure to get them or not - I just like my teeth. :) Note: Dr. C has recently moved to a really sweet location - possibly the nicest, cleanest, most modern dental office in the South Bay. Kudos! If you really care about your teeth and you want your experience at the dentist to be "Five Star" with excellent personal attention, give Dr. Calleros a try. Worst dentist I have ever dealt with in my 59 years on this planet. Over injected Novocaine into my upper gum line causing serious issues with my right eye, did hack job on a crown she made requiring multiple visits to remedy, failed to properly diagnose a cavity and filled it anyway, even tho the tooth required a root canal. Oh, and the tooth she filled went on to break in half 2 months later... These were the first 3 visits. After that, things went down hill.... I have since found another dentist, and can't believe Dr. Calleros is actually allowed to practice. There are way too many GOOD options for dentists out there... Why settle for this place.... RUN as fast as you can and find a REAL dentist who isn't out to drain your insurance, doing the few procedures she can actually perform in house (can't do root canals or extractions, but will gladly fill a cavity even though she KNOWS the tooth needs a root canal and a crown). I could go on, but you get the picture... Good moral character is not this dentists strong suit to say the least.... If I could give negative stars, I surely would. read more

I've been seeing Dr. Calleros for 9 years, entrusting her and her excellent staff with my 3 and 5 year old high anxiety kids. We have had nothing but AMAZING care for these 9 years and drive up from San Pedro just to see her. The kids love the staff and listen to them to make sure to "brush away those sugar bugs!" They get to chill out in their goggles and watch cartoons while being worked on. It's always a great experience. I was reading other reviews about high pressure sales pitches. Dr. Calleros will offer you an full, detailed, treatment plan that is the best course for your well care. If she didn't, she wouldn't be doing her job! (Those old cavities absolutely should be replaced as they are found to be toxic to the body!) If you can't do it, just say no thanks. But I fully recommend doing as much as you can when you can to ensure your health. I'm currently saving up for a new crown ;) read more

I love my dentist... most people can't say that. The office is tranquil and the people working in it are delightful. Even if you need major work done, it easy and quick, I literally fell asleep getting a cavity filled. Dr. Calleros takes the time to explain the procedures and gives great tips on how to keep your teeth in the best condition possible. She also works with you on a treatment plan and her front office staff makes sure you know what the cost will be before you commit. She also employs the nicest hygienists and office personal. I have truly never been to a more beautiful office, with such a kind and welcoming staff and two of the most amazing dentists I've ever had work on mine and my children's teeth! I can't say enough good things about the hygienists and the front office staff as well. They are all so welcoming and kind! They all do such a phenomenal job! Fortunately I was referred to this office just down the street from my home and could not be happier. I did not expect a place like this is in quaint, downtown El Segundo. The environment is so welcoming and they have state of the art everything, seriously everything is so high tech and new! As soon as you walk in your are greeted by the friendliest front desk and waiting time is very minimal. My hygienist Lyndsey is very knowledgeable and extremely thorough with her cleanings. They got me in right away the next day for a quick consultation. It ended up that my tooth was broken and Dr. Calleros took care of it right then and there even though I was only scheduled for a consultation. She even called the following day to check in with me. WARNING TO ALL I wish I had read the "hidden" reviews for this dentist prior to making an appointment here. I went in for a cleaning, and left with her having worked on 17 of my teeth without my authorization, and now I need two major root canals! She is a scam artist who uses fear to manipulate patients into undergoing procedures that are not medically necessary. When I went for the cleaning and exam, the dentist was not available to do the exam, and rescheduled me for a separate appointment. At the second appointment, the dentist suddenly decided my teeth needed whitening and fillings that were old needed to be replaced, even though my regular dentist said they didn't present a problem yet and that replacing the fillings was not yet necessary. Then she said I needed porcelain inlays to fix receding gums. Who walks in to finish a teeth cleaning appointment and walks out with severe pain and in need of two root canals?! I have always taken excellent care of my teeth--my sister is a dental technician! I tried this dentist because the office is much more conveniently located, I'm a resident of El Segundo and feel that the community should be aware. I will never make this mistake again. I have filed a grievance with my insurance company and the California Dental Board. I hope this review saves someone else from the pain and expense I have suffered. read more

recently changed dentists and I went in for teeth cleaning and xrays. Was told I had a cracked tooth and even though I was in no pain I should get it fixed. I came back to get a cap put on the cracked tooth and the novacaine shot was absolutely horrible. The dentist inserted the needle into something inside my mouth which caused an electric shock to occur in my tongue. I was then told that this was supposed to happen and so the dentist inserted the needle again and caused it to happen a second time. Over the 58 years of life I have had cavities and one root canal - none have ever caused such a intense pain, it seemed normal to the dentist. I strongly recommend to consider dental work elsewhere. read more

Dr. Calleros and her staff are top notch. I've been going to Dr. Calleros since 2004 and she has always provided a really great 'dental experience' (how great can it get, really?). Now that she's in her new office in El Segundo, the experience is really amazing. I can watch TV while getting my teeth cleaned, which makes it easy to forget what is happening! The whole experience with the high end office setting is very soothing. The most important thing, though, is that Dr. Calleros is always on the cutting edge of dental technology. The staff uses this cool laser thing on my gums which has really made a difference for me. Also, Stephanie is great! I also bring both of my two children (2 & 4) to Dr. Calleros and they LOVE visiting the dentist! I have to pretend to be her every night when I brush their teeth.
