My resume was very strong but my interviewing skills were seriously lacking, and I wasn't making any progress in my meetings with prospective employers. It sounds cliche but, Beacon Hill Staffing is a different kind of recruiter. I started looking for a new job in November and I opened myself to recruiters on LinkedIn, soon after, I was contacted by Cory Casey. He didn't just email with what sounded like the same line you hear from most recruiters; he actually took the time to look at my resume and mentioned specific details that let me know, he was paying attention and was mindful of the potential client he was dealing with - me. Shortly after emailing via LI, Cory and I had a face-to-face. The professionalism of the firm came through from the moment I walked in the door at BH. Fom the lobby, to reception and finally meeting Cory, I was greeted like a person and not as a number. Cory was my specific recruiter but it was like I had the entire Beacon Hill staff assisting me. During my in person meeting I felt like my desire for a new job was taken seriously and that BH would find me the right fit, and they did! Do not use this agency. Two people from this agency contacted me for both perm and temp work. I agree with another reviewer that they are not interested in anyone over 50 years old. Even though I am more qualified and some of the positions they had were really suitable to me, I never got a call back. TOTAL DISCRIMINATION. They informed me that all the jobs were already filled, etc. They had me fill out a lengthy application, rewrite my resume, knowing all the while that they were not going to be sending in my resume. That is the reason they want to have a zoom interview to see what you look look and how old you are. TOTAL DISCRIMINATION. They should definitely be looked into. Total hypocrites!! Hannah Benson was the person that contacted me and was terrible. She reached out to me, we went over my experience and asked me to come in. Did not sent a confirmation invite or email with the office address. Then called me the following week frustrated saying oh you were suppose to come in for a meeting. How am I going to come in for a meeting when you did not provide me the address or POC. Been in NYC for 9 years and have had some great experiences with staffing agencies but this one is terrible. I rarely write reviews, but I just had to write something about the amazing people here at Beacon Hill Staffing Group (especially Charlotte F. and Caitlin H.). My journey started out with me leaving a job that was, at the end of the day, not a "good fit" (to put it politely). Happy to be out of a bad situation and with no idea on what to do next, I reached out to the first two temp/staffing agencies that came up on google. Mistake. The few placements that I was offered over the next few months, had absolutely nothing to do with my background and the agencies offered little-to-no career planning support. I always felt like I was just another resume and no consideration was given to who I was and what I was looking for. After a few months of running in circles with those agencies, a friend of mine (hi Joe!) put me in contact with Ariana W. at BHSG and thankfully, my prospects did a complete 180. I had a chance to meet with several fantastic people in the BHSG office and I could immediately tell this was a different type of agency. Over the past few months I had the absolute pleasure of working with Charlotte F. and Caitlin H. Both have been just incredible. Where the previous agency was unresponsive and impersonal, both Charlotte and Caitlin have been extremely attentive and warm. They care about who you are beyond your skills and professional goals and have (whether intentionally or not) done a great job with helping me focus and find out what I wanted to do next in my career. I am currently wrapping up a 3 month temporary job and about to enter into the final round of interviews for this position full time. I had initially not even considered this as a career path, but I'm so glad that Charlotte/Caitlin suggested it to me. Where I am now, not only checks off my requirements for professional development and skill capacity, but has the added bonus of being a job that reflects who I am as a person in addition to what I can deliver as an employee. To me, this shows they were thinking holistically and outside of the box with a strong understanding of who I am and what I can do. Looking for a new job in NYC can be really rough. The staff here can make the process a whole lot easier and maybe even enjoyable (relatively - job hunting sucks no matter what haha). If you are open and honest about what you're looking for and are willing to partner with their staff (don't expect them to do all the work for you), Beacon Hill Staffing Group can be a real asset in your job search. The process of using a placement agency may take some getting used to, but if you prove yourself to be a hard worker, I've found that BHSG will absolutely go to bat for you. And in my case, they hit a home run. P.s. As an aside, having seen the process that my current company is going through to hire for my position and others, I'm pretty sure my resume would NOT have made it out of the pile of the (literally) hundreds of resumes they received. I received an email from one of the recruiters wanting me to come in to discuss opportunities. Two days later I got laid off and when I told her what happened she seemed less than enthused. Anyway, I went in to meet with her anyway and it didn't seem as though she was really interested and I know it was because I got laid off two days prior. In addition, I have been uploading my resume for many of the positions that I see posted but I never hear from anyone. This leads me to believe that they really are not interested in working with candidates that are unemployed regardless of the length. I then applied for temp assignments and got a phone call a few hours later. I called the recruiter back twice and sent her an email and she never called me back (I was returning her initial phone call). This sort of thing has happened more than once as well. Color me thoroughly unimpressed. Beacon Hill was one of the agencies I reached out to when I made the decision to move on from my then-current position. I found the two other agencies/recruiters I worked with to be incredibly responsive, which I was very pleased with since I had years of experience in my field and the level of responsibility that comes with that expertise. So, I send in my resume and receive a message from one of the staff, Clarissa. We set-up an appointment to meet and off I go. At the appointment, we do a rundown of my experience. She then remarks that I would be great in an Executive Assistant role. This took me by surprise since I have no administrative or EA-type experience on my resume. I let her know that I have no interest in working as an EA. I then get a song and dance about how they have nothing directly related to my experience right now (so why bring me in?). Since clearly this is going nowhere, I thank her for meeting with me and leave. What a waste of time. I mean, I gave up my yoga class for that!? I definitely did not leave Beacon Hill feeling very zen. read more

This was my first experience with a staffing group. The recruiter I met with a few months ago was very sweet, polite and friendly which definitely made the experience nice. Something that did rub me the wrong way was she told me to dress professional when coming to meet with her to talk about what I was looking for and she was wearing jeans and a tank top. She did get me one phone interview a few days after meeting with her. We did a debriefing immediately after the interview and then I NEVER heard from her again. My experience was extremely disappointing. It started with a recruiter cancelling and rescheduling our appointment. Fine, things happen so I got over it. Met with said recruiter the next week for over 45 minutes to discuss my background and what I was looking for next. She seemed to really listen and show interest in helping me make my next move and even suggested a position that sounded appealing. I left feeling positive and sent a thank you email promptly after. I've had to follow up 3 times and have heard nothing back. I have a good resume and experience so I'm not sure what happened.
