This review is for Beacon Hill and specifically their employee, Legare Settle - what a great experience! I had never worked with a staffing agency before and was a bit hesitant when Legare contacted me after I submitted a resume on a whim - but I'm so glad I did. I went in to meet her and immediately knew I was in good hands. She was extremely professional but also treated me like a good friend who was dispensing genuine advice. Emphasis on genuine (note: since employees working within staffing do work heavily on commission, it would have been very easy for her to push the wrong jobs on me just to make a "sale" or lose touch if she wasn't able to place me). She did neither. It turned out that I found a job on my own but Legare was so supportive, giving me career advice and suggestions throughout the whole process even when it was already established that Beacon Hill didn't have anything for me at the moment. What a dissapointment. I met with Legare during my one visit to Beacon Staffing on 40th Street. Aside from the fact that she was cordial and upfront enough, she turned up empty handed with not one interview to show for the time we spent together when I made my way to their office during my work day. Let me point out that I have a great resume to show for the experienced I've gained in my area, so it is not a matter of whether I am experienced enough. I remember having stellar experiences a few years ago when I first started out, so my time at this office fell very short of that expectation. Do not bother. They refuse to talk to you over the phone for even an initial chat - so they want you to come in in order to meet their monthly quota. read more

They constantly tried to say they were "keeping me in mind" for jobs that came in, yet every time I even to the initiative myself and ask if I could be submitted to interview for jobs I qualified for that were posted on their website, they STILL WOULDN'T HELP!! I would hate to think this treatment is racially based but I truly don't understand any other reason why they never helped me after having a nice meeting with them and I am a qualified, respectful and ready and able to work candidate. Great staffing agency! If you're looking for work and have a decent background and great work ethic this is where you should go. I use to be hesitant about using recruiters but after months of unemployment going to BH was the best idea. Unlike other recruiters that are pushy, see you just as a paycheck and don't really care about you, BH is different. They value their clients as much as their candidates. I had my resume posted and spoke to many recruiters but none of them can actually place me in that right fit for the experience that I held. A day came and Richie Hishmeh ed me and like of course I had my doubts but he actually had a great energy and focus to see me succeed. I was contacted by a recruiter who said he would like to meet with me to go over opportunities. I drove into the city, paid $20 for parking just to meet with him and discuss my background. The interview was excellent and he handed me some job opportunities to look at over the weekend. He asked me to contact him on Monday if I was interested in pursuing the opportunities. I emailed him and nothing. Two weeks later, I emailed once more, and nothing. I called his office, left a message, and nothing. Two or so more weeks go by and I send email again, call the main line to see if he still works there, leave him another message, call his cell phone, and NOTHING. Another couple of weeks later I call once more and they transferred me to another department. I told them the situation and asked to be put with another recruiter. He finally calls me that afternoon with a more toned down voice and sounded rather upset with me. He said he would call me the following day to discuss opportunities. I never heard from him again. This was in February, it is now going to the end of April and NOTHING. I'm not impressed by the company, process or follow up with the applicants. read more

The best experience working with a consultant ever. Starting in November 2021, Haley was able to assess what I wanted to do with my career moving forward and more importantly, listen. Before every job interview during the job search, she would coach me and let me know what I needed to work on and gave me feedback every single time. After every interview, we would meet on the phone, go over the interview and she was the person to update me along the job search. Haley will always follow up with you. I got a call from a very nice young lady to come in for the initial interview and things were very promising. Spoke with multiple ladies throughout the day and they made me feel as if they could do something for me. That was in June of 2018. There is little to no follow up unless initiated by me and I haven't heard from any one for about 5 months now. Jobs are being posted on their website and no one is reaching out to me. I should have guessed what the ultimate outcome would be when the first recruiter I met with started the interview saying, "I'm starving, I'm so glad I get to have lunch after this! This week has been the worst, I'm glad the weekend is here!" I was put in a room & cycled through a revolving door of interviewers. Even though I had specified I was not able to take temp work, I was still forced to waste people's time by meeting with someone from that team. When I finally got to the woman representing the contract hire team, she scoffed at my salary range and told me straight out she wouldn't be able to find a job for that amount of money due to my salary history. I had researched extensively what a fair salary for the positions I was pursuing would be & was asking in the lower range of that. The job I worked 3 years ago in a suburban town in a different state would obviously garner a slightly lower salary than a current job in NYC. I was told they would keep my resume on file & was ushered out the door, to make room for the next round of unsuspecting people they scheduled to cycle through the process. I had replied to a specific job posting on Monster, which is what I assumed I was coming in for a meeting about. Reviewing job postings from this agency for the subsequent weeks, it's clear they're just posting fake positions to attract a maximum number of people to have on file. The same job postings are listed over & over again, verbatim, for months. Luckily, I had another meeting with a different staffing agency lined up for that same day & had a much more positive experience. The job that agency had posted was actually real, the recruiter never belittled my salary range & I'm currently in the second round of interviews for the position, something Beacon Hill assured me would not be possible. read more

I was called in by one of their Senior Recruiter (she contacted me)!! After I was not interested in interviewing for the position, she never contacted me again. So I started communicating with the temp side, however, THEY ALL knew I was looking for a full-time job, but thought id start temping in hopes of a full-time position would become available. I informed my recruiter that I did not want receptionist roles (I have a Masters Degree, and have been a receptionist before, and it is not my cup of tea) Recruiters complete tone changed and her frustration was apparent, she stated "Well, that eliminates you from about 90%" of roles you can get" Wow, really? I was looking for a new job a few years ago and went to Beacon Hill. These people are awful. They tell you they have jobs and are going to find you something, but never end up reaching out. These people clearly only help the people who they want. I could not agree more with the below review. I met with Legare and a few colleges a few months back while I was looking for new employment and they promised me the world. They all told me how many openings there were, how many jobs were open, how they would get me on an interview right away... NOTHING. Months later I reached out, no reply. Unfortunately, my experience was quite bad with this staffing agency. If a client hires someone for a position you don't simply give it to another applicant if you don't get an immediate answer. I came to this agency in short notice due to a temp project that was going to start in two weeks. Conveniently, I was at the city in a different arrangement and agreed to meet them in a few hours. They got my employment eligibility documents and told me they will let me know when it starts. The project would require a few people. I was the first person to meet the recruiter and their client would hire me. Their client would hire me and the recruiter gave me a verification e-mail to confirm this. However, after I got back to them only 30 minutes later the project was given to another person. How insane is this???? I understand the project starts in two days but you would think they will give at minimum a couple of hours for a return call or email. I made alternative plans and skipped other job options to accommodate Beacon Hill. This is unprofessional conduct from any recruiter let alone from a licensed attorney. The fact that I got back to them in only 30 minutes and the job was gone simply means they almost immediately went to the next person without giving sufficient time for a response. I understand there is pressure to satisfy their client (employer) but an applicant as myself who showed the courtesy of immediately meeting them should deserve a little better (me thinks???). read more

Working with her along my job search has been the smoothest experience I ever had with a staffing agency. Yes, she has other clients, but she always made me feel as if I was the only candidate she was representing. She not only submitted me to jobs that I was qualified for, but she listened to exactly what I wanted because her main concern was that I was taken care of. I had multiple interviews and she made sure to prep me every step of the way, so that I was more than prepared, but what she didn't know was that each time she put my mind at ease and built my confidence. I found this employment agency when I applied to a position on an Internet job site. Christina called me within 24 hours of my application and did an initial review of my resume and scheduled a time for me to come in to the office. A few days later I showed up to the office, interviewed with Christina and one Senior Recuiter. Did an in depth review of my resume and the recruiter decided that the positions which they had available would probably bore me. Frankly some people just want to work, so I wish I had an option to say I don't mind being bored please place me and I'll promise to stay for a year or two. And to give them the benefit of the doubt. I probably could have said that but didn't vocalize it. That being said , there was one position that the Recruiter thought would be a decent fit. So I left the office with the understanding that I would be sent a description of the position available and to resend my resume via email. When I came home, sent my resume and never received a copy of the position. I didn't want to pester Christina so I waited some time and followed up to see that she received my resume. She confirmed she received the email, but never send me a copy of the job description. A week had passed and I sent a follow up email to see if I was still being considered. No response and have heard nothing back since. I understand that I won't be an ideal candidate for some positions and that they can't hold every applicants hands. But following up with people with things you say that will be sent, should be sent. And if you are no longer considering people for the position have a boiler plate email you send out stating so. It's New York City and people become like cattle, but it's a shame to be treated that way. I give the office three stars because everyone was extremely professional during my initial call and interview. The office was clean and organized with helpful receptionists. I think the lack of follow through after my interview, and not responding to an email was disappointing from a service stand point. I would still recommend meeting with them if they call, my review is an effort to prepare people for what they might encounter. Back to the grind of looking for a job. I applied to a position online and received a call from one of the recruiters Erika. I was asked to come in for an interview. We went over a few details and that was it. There are a bunch of positions listed on the site that I feel I'd be a good candidate for, but when I followed up with her she said she didn't have anything available at the moment. I sincerely doubt she ever had anything to begin with and won't be reaching out to her again. I've never dealt with that when working with Robert Half. They followed up with me every day with opportunities. I'm starting to think Beacon lists false positions to lure people in. It was a waste of time and money commuting over there. read more

I honestly don't feel as though the other reviewers went to the same place I did. My first meeting was at the BH office and I met with about 6 of their staffers. After that I started working almost exclusively with Mary who went above and beyond to set me up with various interviews, get feedback, make sure I was prepared for each interview, and help me narrow done the type of places I wanted to work.
