I didn't see anywhere to park which could be a big issue. But I took the commuter rail and had no problem. If the weather were bad I would have driven and gone elsewhere. This is such a cute place, and their coffee and treats were very yummy (I got the raspberry shortbread). However, the service was terrible. I went in with some friends on a pretty busy Saturday afternoon and had such a bad experience. The girls working there were incredibly unprofessional, I ordered two different kinds of coffee, and as they were serving both of them they realized that they were out. They were not very apologetic, and I decided not to get any coffee. As we were paying, their card reader (it was an iPod touch) died and we had to wait for more than 10 minutes for it to turn. They just kept laughing at how we were having the worst experience, first no coffee and now we couldn't pay. It was very unprofessional. Eventually, after probably 15 minutes, and with more than 10 customers behind us, they took down our credit card number and let us go. read more

Go here for breakfast most days when we come here to Rockport on our vacation week. Is a very clean place with many good options for any meal of the day. I really like their muffins and bagels and their smoothies and hot chocolate. My only complaint is their smoothies are made with ice cream instead of the healthier yogurt which would be preferable. This is my favorite place to come for coffee in Rockport. Their Hazelnut flavored coffee is my favorite. I can't get enough of it! I've had their PB wrap and chicken curry wrap in the past -- both were delicious. Staff is friendly, the place is clean. I just visited your location and had a terrible experience with the girl at the front counter. She was daft, rude, and overall didn't seem to care about the customers. My friend ordered a tea and a coffee and we stepped aside to wait for them. The tea came out relatively fast, but 8 mins had gone by with no sign of the coffee. My friend said "Hi, I also ordered a cappuccino" and the employee's response was "Oh. I misheard you, I thought you had changed your mind and just got the tea." It appeared she went to start making the drink but after other customers drinks came out and another 6 mins had passed, it was clear she wasn't working on our order. Once again, we approached the counter and I said "Hey, we're still waiting on that cappuccino" and she replied saying we would have to get back in line and order it. Why did she think we were just standing there for 15 mins??? Why would she think that to rectify HER mistake, we would have to join the end of the line (without her even saying anything/telling us; she just stood there.) She had a terrible attitude, was not clear in her communications, and obviously has no regard for customer service or her place of employment. Disgraceful and disgusting behavior. read more

We visit often since we have family in town, and have enjoyed the food/drinks, but on our last visit we felt shooed out from our table by a staff person. After my family barely sat down with our drinks, the staff person hovered over us holding a food item for a customer, trying to find the customer a seat. The staff person asked us "are you staying?" While I'm sure the other customer appreciated the efforts to find seating on his behalf, it was very unpleasant for us to be rushed out when we had just sat down with our purchased items. read more

This cafe has some of the best coffee on the North Shore, they use lavazza, which is the best for espresso. They have a nice selection of deserts too, and the place has a nice view too. the staff is very nice, and they really make the coffee perfect. The Bean and Leaf is a wonderful place to sit, read, look out on a small cove in Rockport. It used to have one of the best cafe mocha's around (and I've had some good ones). Somewhere along the line (they insist there is no change) their coffee and espresso drinks became like water. Literally no coffee flavor at all and the amount and/or quality of the chocolate was weak as well. Knowing this, I ordered a French Roast coffee, their strongest according to the barista, and it felt like I was drinking light brown water. I brought it back and the barista "asked do you want another"and without waiting for an answer proceeded to fill another cup with the same watery brew - seemed amazed that I found it too weak. I would have had to pay extra for a shot of espresso. I will say that it was mobbed on a cold windy day and someone may have put in one bag of coffee versus two but it's been consistently poor for a while (although this was the worst ever). That said, the soup there is excellent as are the sandwiches and pastries (especially the lemon pound cake). So go there for lunch but unless you like your coffee half the strength of dunkin donuts, skip the coffee. read more

A great little cafe with awesome harbor views! The baristas are super friendly and more than accommodating (everything can be made to your preference!). I love their selection of iced teas, bring back PassionFruit Papaya, YUM!!! The wraps are delicious and competively priced (free chips and a pickle?!? Unheard of in NY). I love taking the wraps to go for a day out on the water!!! I can only imagine how cozy this place is during the winter months, I look forward to checking it out! When we come to Rockport to visit my 89 year old mother, we look forward to an early morning walk to bean&leaf where we are greeted with a lovely, bright,cafe where they offer bran muffins and delicious coffee as as well as friendly fun baristas. As a lover of excellent espresso and an aesthetically beautiful atmosphere, the bean & leaf cafe is definitely second to none! It is situated directly on the water overlooking Rockport's sandy bay. They have a great selection of espresso drinks, specialty coffee, and teas. Their treats and pastries are yummy and decadent. As for food, if you want the best clam chowder this is where to find it! They also have fresh wraps and salads made to order - it is a perfect place for lunch or a light dinner! And certainly not to be missed for a relaxing moment to overlook the ocean and enjoy a superb cup of coffee! Brilliant cafe in a gorgeous new england village! At the recommendation of a nearby shop owner I stopped into the Bean & Leaf for food and coffee in the hope of beating the migraine I could feel coming on. Exhausted, disoriented and in pain, the owner treated me with kindness and respect. For example, I ordered before realizing Bean & Leaf was cash only but he suggested that I eat and relax before heading to the ATM down the street. I was so grateful given how terrible I was feeling. The quiche and salad were filling and the iced coffee was some of the best I've had...strong and flavorful. Between the food, the harbor view and the chance to sit quietly, I made a full recovery and was able to enjoy my precious 24 hours off. The owner also helped me find my way to one of the beautiful paths along the water. If you are looking for sustaining food and a great cup of coffee served by people who care, I encourage you to visit Bean & Leaf. read more

A charming and excellent local café. Great coffee, great staff, lovely view and delicious food. When my young daughter accidentally dropped her lemonade a block or so from the café, they graciously replaced it for free (when I returned to buy a new one). I love this little place. The sandwiches (especially the curried chicken sandwich) are tasty, and they usually have nice kinds of fresh cookies. But I really come for the coffees, the lattes, cappuccinos and the view. I'll drive an hour sometimes--just to see Rockport's harbor and sip a coffee here. The main seating room looks directly onto Rockport's inner harbor, and last year, during the stretch of extremely cold weather, huge sheets of ice wrinkled all the way up to the building during high tide. It was a beautiful sight. I usually go during the 'quiet' months, but I have ventured there during the summer months. Still great drinks, but very crowded--no hope of snagging a seat. But if you want to treat yourself to a little outing--go to Toad Hall Bookstore up on Main Street, then saunter down here with your purchases and order some coffee, sip it and look out at that harbor. Umm, love this little place. If you are looking for a good sandwich come here. Prices are high for a wrap, but the caprese wrap is perfection. It comes with Cape Cod chips and yummy pickle. I want to say it was $9.00 but worth every penny. I think I am craving that wrap right now. read more

I was nervous when my husband ordered a cappuccino and they asked, "Small or large?" Usually, this is a sign of coffee-clueless-ness. However, it turned out quite tasty. My chai soy latte was fairly standard, tasting like it came from the usual mix. Roast beef wrap was delicious; Mediterranean turkey wrap less so. read more
