Change is always good. Always drinking Starbucks, we decide to give the Bean a try. We came on a weeknight, and it wasn't busy. In fact, we were the only customers at the time. Maybe because of its location, they had several large pieces of paintings upon a grey wall. Several tables line the wall, and couches by the window. A different atmosphere, I like this. Their menu is simple, with big font so that people like me that usually have to squint to look at the menus with the coffeeshops don't have to. Another bonus. They have a lot of different coffees available, all organic. I order a large white chocolate mocha. In the style of Cafe Artigiano, there's a nice leaf pattern on the foam. Pretty! I take a sip. Mmmm..this stuff is good. Not too sweet, and just perfectly rich. A good hint of the white choclate flavour, balanced with the mocha. Music isn't overbearing, and there's a comfortable atmosphere. Delicious! My mocha was good to the last sip!! Craving for more as I write this.

    a hand holding a muffin

tiny muffin for $5.50!! ?? and was dry -lacking flavor. there was only 5 cranberries in the cranberry lemon muffin. i love their coffee but disappointed in their muffins/baked goods. probably wont go back...

    Just a glimpse

I love Fran at bean around the world. Her nose situation is amazing. The kombucha is awesome when I'm hungover and the coffee is phenomenal when I'm sleepy.

Great coffee & really friendly, helpful service. Central to shopping on Granville. Try the oat milk latte, if you get a chance.

    5 visits: 1 cold coffee + 1 lukewarm latte + 0 more chances = 2 stars

This was my first visit to a Small Victory Bakery. This location is on Granville St by 15th…read moreAve...where there has been much construction of late. The space is beautiful, very bright with high ceilings. And the selection of pastries was impressive. Opted for a latte and a croissant. Both came out as expected in terms of presentation and taste, though the latte was not as hot as one would expect. They did provide a pager to notify when the coffee was ready. Waited. Waited. Finally walked over and after several exchanges, determined it was our coffees. I provided the pager and said it did not go off. The attendant then reached down and activated it. Nice. No apologies. Beautiful space but with poor service, I have no intentions of returning to this or any of the Small Victory Bakery's.

I LOVE the Small Victory in Yaletown and go to there often, so I was expecting the same kind of…read moreexperience when I recently visited this site on Granville. Unfortunately, it was not the same. I was glad to see the same amazing pastries and tarts and sandwiches, all fresh and beautifully displayed in the display case. I ordered a croissant and it was superb as usual. I also ordered one of thier baguettes to bring home. My kid and I think SV has the best baguettes in the city. They are crusty on the outside, soft yet chewy inside, and just consistently perfect. This one was as good as all the others we've had from here. Yeah! I wanted an Earl Grey tea which IMO is a pretty basic order. Surprisingly, they did not have it. I got a green tea instead (their tea selection was very limited). And the girl who took my order, as well as the girl who rang me up at the cash, could NOT have been more aloof. I smiled and tried to make a little small talk, especially with the girl at the cash when I took out my debit card and asked how to pay (she just pointed at the tap symbol on the machine but my card is not tap-enabled. I always joke with people about this). This girl would not even look at me. Zero eye contact. No "thank you", nada. I just got really cold vibes from the two of them there at the counter. (At least when I picked up my tea at the beverage counter, the guy there made eye contact and semi smiled). (Side note: the staff at the Yaletown site have always been super pleasant and friendly, and this really makes a difference. To me, anyhow). Contrary to another reviewer's posting, the restaurant and the washroom was very clean when I visited here. No issues there. Honestly, I'm not sure I'll return to this site. There are so many cafes and bakeries around, I'd rather go to one with a warmer vibe. Or stay with my Yaletown SV.
