I usually really like Bean Around the World coffee shops but my visit here was just okay. It was on the good side of okay, though, where I almost feel bad about leaving 3 stars but can't really justify 4. The positives: - Very friendly service and homey atmosphere - Awesome rustic lemon meringue cheesecake and good decaf americano (not the strongest, but well-rounded flavour and not bitter) - Good prices (sandwich + dessert + coffee for $19) - Wide and interesting selection of baked goods like scones, loaves, muffins, etc - Good variety of GF baked goods (that looked really good), stored separately from the other baked goods. Not sure if any of the lunch stuff is GF though. The mixed: - Egg salad sandwich: great egg salad, but could've used greens of some sort and/or a heartier bread. I found it a little plain. But then, it was only $7. The negatives (these are mostly personal/nitpicky) - They forgot to put my sandwich on when I ordered and I waited 20 minutes before going up and waiting in line again to ask them about it. They were apologetic and it was ready quickly after that, less than 5 minutes. I did not observe this happening to anyone else so it is probably not a common occurrence. - They only have disposable cutlery despite having real plates and mugs. - Not everything in the display case is labelled and it's not obvious what some things are just by looking. - Given how the other locations I've been to have such good vegan and vegetarian options, I was surprised that this location had nothing vegan except drinks. While I was underwhelmed by this shop in some aspects, it also has a lot going for it, and I'd give it another chance if I was in this neighbourhood more often. read more

Love this location. They make a great latte and awesome breakfast sandwiches. Love the artwork all over the walls. My go-to coffee shop. They do a partnership with the bar next door so you can get a fancy latte over at the bar with breakfast too. read more

My wife and I always love to check out local coffee spots when we travel. This one sounded really cool. However I don't think their Cinnamon Toast Crunch Latte was that good. It didn't taste anything like the cereal. Was a bit of a let down, especially as much as we spent. read more

Change is always good. Always drinking Starbucks, we decide to give the Bean a try. We came on a weeknight, and it wasn't busy. In fact, we were the only customers at the time. Maybe because of its location, they had several large pieces of paintings upon a grey wall. Several tables line the wall, and couches by the window. A different atmosphere, I like this. Their menu is simple, with big font so that people like me that usually have to squint to look at the menus with the coffeeshops don't have to. Another bonus. They have a lot of different coffees available, all organic. I order a large white chocolate mocha. In the style of Cafe Artigiano, there's a nice leaf pattern on the foam. Pretty! I take a sip. Mmmm..this stuff is good. Not too sweet, and just perfectly rich. A good hint of the white choclate flavour, balanced with the mocha. Music isn't overbearing, and there's a comfortable atmosphere. Delicious! My mocha was good to the last sip!! Craving for more as I write this. read more

Three words: lavender chai latte. I came in here after having lunch with my brother and was in need of a liquid pick me up. This spot is located in a very convenient location: on the corner of W. 14th and Granville in the busy South Granville area. The coffee shop itself is cozy, has a few tables lined up against the wall, and has plenty of paintings and art deco hanging on the walls. The staff are super friendly, helpful and patient. Not much of a food selection in comparison to other Bean locations I've visited in the past. But I didn't come to eat, so I didn't mind. I originally was going to order a london fog, but after looking through their holiday menu, the lavender chai latte caught my eye. UM... YES PLEASE. It tasted like heaven in a cup. If you have the chance to try it, you should. It was the perfect little pick me up and kept me nice and warm while I walked down the streets of Granville in mid-December. Great place to work and set up shop if you're looking for free wifi. I'd recommend getting there a bit earlier though since there aren't many tables. I'll definitely be back. read more

This used to be my morning stop for a latte and a scone. I have walked out with nothing the last number of times I visited. The scones are no longer tasty - they are dry, chewy, and often over baked. Sometimes they either don't have any or there is only a day old option. Going back to having two staff for busy weekday mornings would also be helpful. There have been a few times I have had to leave empty handed because there is an extraordinary wait. read more

Yes! I love this little coffee joint nestled in the South Granville shopping district. There are several other major chain coffee shops within a stone's throw away, but I like this one the best. It has a homey feel, great service and terrific beans. read more

Cute lil coffee shop tucked away on Granville st. Perfect for a shopping extravaganza stopover, place to hang out w friends of read a book or to stay away from the rain. It's cozy and smells like cookies and coffee. It's handwritten chalkboard menu is quite hip and the specials are displayed. The barista is friendly and there's other sweets and eats there. I don't know what to say about this place. It's not bad, but it's not great. It's a bit small, but not in a bad way. It's pricier than starbucks or blenz, but it's hard for me to gauge the coffee since I only drink tea. It's in a convenient spot (grab a tea before going to Barney's next door!) and the staff I've met are all cool, but it's kind of just ok. read more

Very cool coffee house with very good coffee in a very funky neighborhood. I would give it 4 stars, but the lack of seating takes away a star. Not to say you shouldn't check it out. We went on a sunny day, chatted with the tatted-up barista's and watched the people of Vancouver walk by. There was even a pug sitting outside. It's close and has decent coffee. It isn't too busy on a Sunday which is great if you're catching up on some work. If you're planning to hang out for a few hours the chairs and tables are not the most comfortable but they do ok. read more

They have iced teas, and by that I mean a great variety! They even had iced roobios which is what I had. You can also have syrups too which make good combos. Kind of pricey for tea but it's Vancouver what did you really expect it's an average price. read more

Really friendly staff, doesn't get very busy, nice coffee table seating by the window, tons of wall plugs. On the other hand - worst matcha latte I've had anywhere, it was brown, for some reason (??), AC is out of control, had to change table three times before I found a spot that was sort of bearable, but eventually left pretty early because of that. Wi-fi is on and off. Love other Bean Around the World locations, this one is not up to their standard. read more
