So the biggest reason I frequent this place is the convenience. I live just about 3 blocks away and especially in the summertime when the farmer's market is going on, I love to walk and get a cup of the coconut coffee and either a crepe (banana/nutella is only 4 bucks) or some other deliciocity they offer. And they have tons! Princess cake, breakfast bagels, homemade gelato. Anywho, Prices are very decent and they have a cabinet wall where you can grab from the drawers checker boards and a checkers set and just chill. They also have a nice little patio area out front and often have evening shows, like a few weeks ago a belly dancing performance. Delightful! All in all, its a great place to hang with friends, set up your laptop and use the free wi-fi or have some gelato and play some cards. Gotta love this joint. read more

Coffee was okay...marginally better than Starbucks. The atmosphere is very bland, but it's not bad either. At least they have wifi. I was looking for an open mic night with local artists, which they had...but it was a high school crowd. There ain't nothin' wrong with that, it just wasn't what I was looking for. For those who want a non-chain, local java spot, this one's just fine. Mix of faux leather and wood chairs, groups of regulars who play chess mixed with students and professionals, and the consistently stable free wi-fi. And the coffee is OK, pastries are better. read more

I have been a Starbucks fan forever but during the farmers market today I tried a blended white mocha (basically a frapicino) made by the owner himself, Kenny, and it was far better than any I ever had at Starbucks or Petes! The pastries and breakfast foods are pretty meh, but they get the job done. However I've generally had a pretty decent experience drinking the coffee at Bean Scene and I took my sister here for a latte when she was visiting. She ordered a latte made with almond milk and instead received an latte made with milk sweetened with almond syrup. We did not realize it until we were 25 minutes away and her latte had cooled enough for her to drink. She took the lid off and we were hit with the smell of fake almonds and she took a swig and realized what i was. I'm not going to write this place off yet, but I'm pretty disappointed. read more

Nice atmosphere, sitting outside in sleepy Sunnyvale downtown is always a plus, too. My complaint is that the latte's are not srrong enough. I always have to add an extra shot to make it taste like coffee and not milk. That's why i usually go to coffee and more down the street. Bean scene is great! it offers great value in the lunch specials.. my all time favorite is their Tunal Melt very delicious with some kind of tomato sauce. Also includes fruit or salad which makes it a complete meal for lunch. Their coffee and atmosphere is great too.. one thing I do not like is their regular coffee for some reason it's way too bitter and over roasted could definitely improve. read more

The David Rio Organic La France Pear Tea is very good here. It is a green tea with subtle yet fresh pear accents. They also make fresh fruit juices here that are tasty and refreshing. Overall, this is a wonderful and comfortable place. They also display local artwork on the walls. read more

Right in the heart is of Murphy Ave, a group of us stopped by to get our coffee fix. We placed our orders, each with some specification of extra hot, low fat, flat, etc. The barista Nuraan was all by herself but had the most pleasant attitude. Every order was just perfect! My coffee was very good and everyone in our group seemed to be pleased with their drinks. It seemed to get rather busy while we were there but Nuraan stayed her pleasant self. Commendable!! They seemed to have a great selection of pastries but we did not order any. I recommend this place but think they need more staff to accommodate the crowds. There is only that much one person can do! read more

I used to be quite fond of this place, for awhile it was even my favorite, but sometime this year the Barista changed, along with the old staff which I liked. I don't understand the people who have left 1-star reviews for this place because of the service. At least for us, the service was fast and the people working there were really friendly. My favorite place for a morning cup of joe. In addition to regular coffee, there is a delicious flavored brew each day: chocolate raspberry, caramel creme or coconut vanilla, just to name a few. Cozy ambiance and always full of locals. So why not five stars? My friend and I stopped here killing time between appointments. I'm a total Starbucks addict and she is a Peet's coffee lover. My favorite drink is a chai latte. I've had them at Peet's and I am not a fan. Starbucks really has been the only place I've had a chai latte that I love....until today. I was skeptical but still ordered one and I have to say that it was better than any chai tea latte I have ever had at Starbucks, even from my usual place down the street from where I live. Been coming to this cafe for years. It's a great neighborhood hang-out with a cheerful vibe and friendly staff. I love their chai lattes and a Chocolate Slush on a hot summer day cannot be beat! I LOVE the bean scene! We used to live down the street, and have since moved up the peninsula. I will make the drive down there or take the train because you just feel SO welcome here. Kenny always remembers us. I'm able to crack jokes with Hugo, Candido & Itsel (sp?). They always want to know how my kids are and they remember my favorites!
