Decently priced ($3.13 with tax), delicious cup of iced coffee on tap. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll likely stop by for another iced coffee or to try an espresso drink. This would probably be a 5 star review if the location were a more inviting one. I like coffee shops where I can sit down for a while and enjoy my coffee while doing work or talking with a friend. This is one of my favorite coffee shops, hands down. They roast & grind their beans on site. The staff is super helpful & very friendly, they offer free wifi & most importantly fantastic coffee & delicious hot apple cider (get it w/hhwipped cream, you'll thank me later). This is the only place I've found locally that sells & serves fresh roasted coffee beans. We buy our beans here & whenever I come in I get a cup of Kona with a single pump of coconut syrup. FRESHLY ROASTED DOESNT MEAN GOOD Anyone can turn green coffee brown, but it takes a true understanding to roast exceptional coffee beans. Beanetics offers a great selection of coffees from around the world, however they only come roasted: dark, darker, or the darkest. If you take a a sweet bread, sourdough, Rye, and bake them all until they're black, they taste the same.. Burnt with their uniqueness lost in the process. So goes the dark roast. Quote from Beanetics Website- "At Beanetics Coffee Roasters we want our customers to taste the full potential of a coffee bean by experiencing freshly-roasted coffee -before the aroma and taste is eroded through time." Freshly roasted is a good start, but aroma and taste will still be eroded through being over roasted. read more

Fabulous fresh roasted coffee with many varieties to choose from. They have a small selection of devices and accoutrement and some tasty treats. There are only a few tables, enough for about five parties of two. If you enjoy fresh roast coffee this is the place to go. None of their coffee is more than a month old. You can still see the oil on the beans in the bags - you won't ever see that in store bought coffee. For the perfect cup of coffee: 1 - Use a French Press 2 - Coarse grind the beans with a Burr Grinder 3 - Use water heated to 190°F 4 - Cycle the French Press up and down a 3-4 times after adding the water. Cycle again before serving You can tell a fresh roast from old by the head on the coffee as you add the water to the grounds. Consistently happy with the beans I get here. Tend to go for darker roasts, so the Ethiopian and Cro Magnon are my go-tos. Much more affordable than Swings or Colombe. Not much seating inside for hanging out, though. read more

It's the go to place to buy coffee beans, they're fresh within days of roasting on site, and dated. 3 stars for being great roasters. No coffee experts on site though -2 stars for service provided. Don't expect someone that tastes, tests, or experiments with their beans. Nor anybody with barista experience. When you order a latte, you'll get a scorched low qual cappuccino instead. Maybe they don't know the difference. Again, have no expectations on expresso drinks. read more

I wish to help this non chain, I appreciate the valiant efforts, but is it not possible to rely on the same quality every time? Today I bought a Costa Rica at 930, did not taste it right away, too hot, tried it in 15 minutes. Imagine my disappointment to find it tasting like dish water. By then I was too far to go back and return it. It's a shame they cannot insure the consistency of quality. How hard is that to do? It is everything in any business. read more

Thanks to Yelp recommendations, I found this hidden gem of a coffee spot. It is small and I am figuring that it is easily missed unless you are seeking it out or happen to be walking past it while in the strip mall where it is located. The first impression of the place other than it's small size was how clean it was. Service was friendly. I got a double espresso and liked it so much that I bought a pack of their espresso whole beans to go. I really appreciate the pouch that they pack their beans in after roasting them on spot and on view in the front of the store. The packaging seals the air out to maintain the beans freshness. The other thing that impressed me was their milk dispensers which operate by pushing a button. Thought they were snazzy and much nicer than the carafes provided at most coffee spots. read more

I give them 5 stars because the coffee is DAMN GREAT! It's not everyday I say that about coffee, but these folks do it right. Every cup I have there is creamy goodness, never a bad after taste like Starbucks and D&D's. Actually Kryspy Kream has good JOE too, but not even close to this. Last time I was there I bought some freshly roasted coffee for my Keurig and it's just as good at home as in the shop. If you LOVE really great coffee you have to visit this place. The CORTEZ is a middle of the road boldness and it's super smooth - I just love it! The treats they have are really good as well, beagles, Choc Chp Coffee Cakes, and other assorted goodies are fresh and good. read more

Amazing, fantastic, want to stick an IV of this stuff straight into whatever part of my brain wakes me up. I have been drinking this stuff for years. I refuse to buy Folgers or any of that crap anymore. When I need coffee, I trek from Old Town to Annandale and buy a couple bags. Neanderthal and Cro Magnon are my faves. This place is special in that it is locally owned, one-of-a-kind, and roasts its own coffee beans. You can even watch them roast if you are lucky to catch them when they are there. Also, they call their sizes small, medium, and large, not venti, grande, douchie - whatever stupid names Starbucks and other places use to sell coffee. Iced Coffee: It's potent and consistently delicious. I find myself driving 15 minutes out of the way just for their coffee. Take home the concentrate and you won't have to come back as soon (it lasts a few days and comes in a nice glass bottle/jar.) They have a nice guy who works the Falls Church farmer's market and sells the beans -- check out his booth to buy beans if you need a bean fix. :) The staff are always friendly and quirky, which is refreshing for this area. read more

Excited to find a local coffee shop (roasting their own beans, even!) in Annandale. The coffee is great, and the prices are reasonable ($5.35 for a small vanilla latte and an Americano). The employees were quick and friendly. This place is lacking a little charm or needs a tiny refresh for me to want to stay and hang out, but if they are just focused on the coffee it works for me. I have to buying coffee here for a long time and each time I try to push myself to trying something new, and without fail -each time it is still excellent I would say the Lucy blend and the Cromag are my two favs that fight for #1. But, something I really missed out on for a while, that is until a found this place a few years back, is that Beanetics really has that old grungy coffee house in the 1990's feel- that is minus the random drug bust (i.e- anyone remember that old coffee house on a corner in Georgetown that got raided? In northern virginia, there aren't a lot of coffee options other than Starbucks or Caribou, and I like that this place is independent and local. However, it creeps me out. There's never anyone else in there! And considering the low traffic, you'd think that the guys who work there would be able to make the drinks better without asking tons of useless questions. My first time in this local coffee shop and I'm feeling very satisfied with a incredibly fresh cup of coffee. The ambience is nice with the morning sun beaming through the windows to my front and a worker roasting beans to my right. The shop aroma is wonderful as we would expect from a coffee shop. A steady stream of locals come in to grab their brew and walk out just as quickly. Only a few of us are in here enjoying the morning, chatting with companions or employees. I ordered one of their stronger brews: Ethiopian Yirgacheffe. I liked it enough to buy a 9oz bag of roasted beans. They have several coffees brewed from mild to strong. Therefore your coffee style should be available here. The two workers were very friendly and helpful in helping us find a strong brew. I'm definitely come back here for my coffee fix. read more

Great dark roast coffee! And a medium size, which would be a large in NYC, costs less than $2. My friends went out of their way to bring us here to have us try this coffee and it was very much worth it. I've been stopping by Beanetics when I am studying for my exams and the free wi-fi and the power strip saves my sanity from being at the library. It is a quaint little shop and many people come in and out. I've received nothing but great service here and the drinks can be made based on personal preferences. They are more coffee roasters than cafe focused--they're much more serious about what they do than Rappahannock. This does not have the shabby chic decor--but their wifi is fast and they're generously attentive. Sometimes the occasional opera music they have is jarring? They lean towards lighter roasts and a deep chocolate noted espresso blend. The milk machines, God. I get that it wastes less and the cream is cold but it's still loud. read more

Hello, my name is Leslie and I am a coffee-holic. It's true! I also love supporting local businesses, especially in the land of Starbucks. And I have to say- I REALLY wanted to like this place. Truly. And there were aspects I liked. Their coffee tasted fresh and was a darker roast which is right up my alley, and their pastries were a generous size and great flavor and not overly sweet. But the largest size was no bigger than a grande at Starbucks and was hoping for one at least twice that size! I can't really fault them for portion size, except that they're competing with larger chains that give much larger coffee cup options for crappier coffee! Your coffee is great, why WOULDN'T you do something to try and even the playing field??? Location was also not ideal, tucked away in yet another strip mall... I popped in after dinner at a local Korean joint. Staff was friendly and helpful. I just had a small black coffee. Nothing epic, but it was very good. Cute little cafe. Its a tight space for people who want to meet and hang out at a coffee shop but if you just want to grab a great cup of coffee...this is the place for that! Fresh roasted coffee at your fingertips and the baristas are very nice and helpful. Smoothies and fraps are very very sweet, just depends on what you like. I love this place to just pick up fresh roasts to grind and make my own coffee at home. Their website also lists when they roast new batches. The coffee is fresh and wonderful!
