So many tempting options--it was tough to decide! We ultimately went with the combo, which featured the Mmmmbacon--and wow, it did not disappoint. The bacon was thick, savory, and absolutely delicious. The Colonel Custard was a warm, sweet treat that hit all the right notes. As for the fries, they looked fantastic, but the thickness made them a bit bland in flavor. Look forward to trying another option next time!

BeanFish is basically the easy name for people who doesn't want to learn the word taiyaki, which is red bean filled pastry in the shape of a fish. Hence, BeanFish! What started as a food truck business now has a split personality of a physical store inside the Uwajimaya food court and a food truck. This split personality also applies to the fact they now serve numerous savory and sweet variants. Seating is at the mercy of the small food court and rather there is a game that day. The best thing about this location is validated parking with Uwajimaya. We are very familiar with sweet variants of taiyaki, so ordering savory versions is our goal. Alas, meh. The Food: K-Pop, $10.65 - 3 Stars Menu: roy choi's kogi Korean bbq beef, pepper jack cheese & kimchi Unless one is a starch addict, this combination is of the less-busy choice to order. 'Less busy' is better, because the contents should be discernible. Even so, the not-yet-set dough of the fish pastry is blended in with the content, making it -unknown-. It is difficult to tell what we are biting into. This version is slightly better as the beef is more distinctive. Roscoe San, $10.20 - 2 Stars Menu: katsu chicken, cheddar cheese, shredded carrots & cabbage paired with sweet chili sauce This one is a bigger mess than K-Pop in terms of flavor. Where does the katsu (i.e. breading) of the chicken end and where the pastry of the taiyaki begins, no one will know. The contents are added to the not-yet-set dough of the fish pastry. It looks good as it is being cooked in the two halves. Once they fold the two halves together, it looks like a hot mess and tastes like a hot mess. I honestly thought this could be good. But no, it is more gimmicky than good food.

Amazing fish waffles that me and my wife enjoyed for breakfast before a Seahawks game in 2024 while tailgating in the Uwajimaya food court.

Jiro (taiyaki w/ azuki red bean filling)

This is one of many places I pass by on my trips to Uwajimaya and always yearn to try for real, but something always gets in the way. This time, I went here with family during the CID Food Walk since they're part of it. It's in the Uwajimaya food court, so expect a hard time trying to find seating especially during weekends and busy events like this. Otherwise, I was ready to finally get to have their taiyakis when I've only ever had their soufflé pancakes back then. I got their OG jiro, which is their taiyaki with azuki red bean filling. I was already a little full from the other things I ate during the food walk, so I probably didn't enjoy this as much as I wanted to. But I did find the slightly burnt taiyaki pretty tasty, and the red bean filling was hot and sweet. This place also doesn't skimp on their filling; there's a lot of it. This was for about $6, so it is pricey for something that's small and can easily fit in your hands. Back then, I only had their soufflé pancakes which took about 15 minutes to make and was around $26 last time I remember. I'm glad they still have them now, and I'm down to give that another try when both time and mood let me have at this place again!

Wow. Beanfish! So many savory and sweet options to choose from, all made to order in a crispy chewy waffle. I went with the Big Kahuna - spam, pineapple, and cheese with powdered sugar but also something spicy. It was a flavor bomb explosion and a foodie treat! Located in the Uwajamaya food hall. Must try at least once.

Service was great and very polite. Answered my questions and didn't feel rushed. The chicken katsu in the waffle would have been great if it was hot, didn't taste fresh made and was still cold so that is why I give 4 stars. I'd like to try something else, I would go back but get something with less fillings to heat thru

Just watching the making taiyaki making process is a treat. Such care is made to cook them the exact right amount and to trim off any extra bits. Convenient location in the grocery and by other food stalls. We highly enjoyed the Gimme S'mores, but it was truly difficult to decide, since the menu has such inventive choices. We also saw some people getting the soufflé pancakes, which looked incredibly fluffy and fun. Will need to try taiyaki in Japan now!

Located inside the supermarket, the shop was packed with many people waiting for orders outside their shop. They make their taiyaki fresh and takes about 10min. 6/10 Ube Taiyaki $7 - Ube was very artificial and still did not taste that strong. Filling amount is pretty little so the bottom is all bread. Taiyaki itself was hot, airy, fresh, but the texture was more cake like that I expected. 6.5/10 Matcha Taiyaki $7 - Matcha flavor was better but again very artificial. TIP: Go on their facebook page and message them for BOGO if you want to try it.

I came here for the food walk and got an organic red bean taiyaki for $6. I love the taiyaki here because it comes with ample amount of red bean filling. I've been to so many places where there's a drop of filling and mostly breading. It does take a while to make so I walked around and looked at other foods while I waited.

First time coming here and it was quite a treat. I got the savory taiyaki called Domo Arigato Mr Roboto. Haha. Consisted of chorizo, bell peppers, onions, pepper Jack cheese and tortilla chips. Quite an interesting combo and taste. Friendly staff and was able to recommended a few savory flavors. We also got their monthly Donkii Kongu (coconut banana vanilla custard). Also delicious. Price was quite high for taiyaki but when you are on vacay you gotta be free to enjoy it! Will be back here soon. As this was a store they didn't have its own seating. It's part of Uwajimaya food court so you have to sit at communal areas.

    Jiro
    Tina C.

Located in the food court of a big supermarket. They have lots of options on their menu, both savory and sweet, and make each fresh. We got the classic Jiro (red bean). Pretty small for the price, the waffle dough was a bit undercooked, and the red bean filling was partially cold in the center. Also felt the ratio of filling to waffle was a bit off (too much filling). The worker seemed new so maybe this is just a one off!

    Red bean taiyaki
    Ainsley E.

Convenient food stall right in Uwajimaya with a ton of savory and sweet taiyaki options. You can watch them make it right through the window which is really cool. We just tried the classic red bean one, which was very good. Tasted like a pancake filled with not-too-sweet, fresh red bean paste. There were several other flavors, including an ube custard, that we would have also liked to try. Unfortunately we live across the country or we would!

yes. Yes. YES! We've been waiting to try BeanFish out ever since we discovered it a year or so ago, when it was sadly closed at the time. And despite having passed through Seattle multiple times since then, and as a trip to Uwajimaya on the way home is basically a requirement, our last few visits to the Emerald City ended up being past closing time, so we've missed out and been jonesing to try BeanFish several times. Finally, we managed to make it on time, this last weekend. Verdict: hell yeah! Tasty taiyaki treats are truly terrific! I had the K-Pop (kimchi, korean kalbi beef and pepper jack cheese), while my wife had the Big Kahuna (Spam, Japanese 7-Spice, pineapple pepper jack), both of which were exactly what we were looking for. And although mine was a little smaller than hers, she ended up being unable to finish the massive thing, and passed the savings onto me! Obviously we tend to prefer savory over sweet, but there were a couple that definitely would have tempted us, had this not been planned as our evening meal, and we both were stuffed by the end of it. Regardless, we have a new Uwaji's food court favorite, and it will be hard for us to choose otherwise during our next visit to our favorite grocery store!

Love that the tables were not short on the hot sauce. Service was great with the right amount of warmth and sass. I had the pimento BLT for brunch and man that sucker was so good! I got mine with the fried thigh and shoestring fries and it was so good. Fries were nice and crispy and not greasy! Also shared a side of catfish and so much flavor and not greasy at all! How do yall do that?! lol When you leave a spot like this, typically you feel weighed down by the fried foods but this place left us so satisfied without that weighed down feeling.
