First time I had here was back in 2021 when the pandemic was just starting to calm down. I got their yogurt coffee and it honestly wasn't my favorite. This time, I came back 5 years later on a Monday morning around 11:30am. It's located on 10th Ave near S Jackson St at Thai Binh Apartments, not too far from The Alley and Pacific Rim Center. The inside is really small, with just two tables to sit at, and you can see the counter right at the front. There's a display area full of Vietnamese books to the right-hand side of the counter, some potted plants are near the windows the distract you from the dull street parking area, and they even sell some of the Dragonfly Vietnamese waffle mixes that have been a hit in past Chinatown festivals. As for the menu, it's extremely modest and simple, with Viet coffee, matcha and hand brewed offerings along with the waffles themselves. From recommendations I got from the lone server - who was extremely kind and answered some of my questions about the menu - I got a regular-sized pandan coffee. Pretty STRONG coffee despite the cup being about 60% full of ice after downing the drink quickly, like I can still feel it about 8+ hours in! Pandan taste is very apparent, which is great since phin-dripped coffee usually overwhelms whatever extra taste is added in, be it a puree or a topping. I could taste the milky, coconut-flavored, subtle almond-like undertones I would expect, and this is as advertised by my server which is another plus. This place is so unassuming and humble, you wouldn't think too much coming here because of how secluded it is. Every time I have a good Vietnamese coffee, the coffee shop is always nestled in the most obscure places. Phin is kinda off the radar which makes it annoying to get to but you're rewarded with a chill and relaxed shop that isn't too crowded. The shop is decorated with Vietnamese touches mixed with a splash of colorful modern. The space is supplemented by board/card games which can be really fun for a group of friends who want to enjoy a table game with their coffee. There is also a restroom so you can stay as long as you want. The pandan latte and the coconut coffee were really good. The pandan latte tasted distinctly of pandan and was perfectly balanced by the Vietnamese coffee. The coconut coffee was almost like a coconut coffee slush but still distinctly tasted like coffee. This made up for the somewhat standoff-ish service which is probably attributed to the owner's reserved nature rather than him actively being rude. As a snack, my partner and I also got the pandan waffle to share which was nice and crispy while having that satisfying chewy mochi texture. I dared the Sữa Đá which is an iced Vietnamese coffee and Mrs. E. tried the Wintermelon green tea. The coffee was a little sweet for me, but overall, a tasty drink and a nice compliment to my Pandan waffle. There isn't any coffee places I've been to that could make a yogurt coffee better than Phin in Seattle. I've been here since they first opened around COVID-19 and they never disappointed me once. Every coffee drinks is made fresh upon order. Their waffle is fluffy in the middle and crispy on edge, very fulfilling. Besides coffee, their soda drink is also really refreshing and a good choice when you want something different. The store is operated solely by one guy and he has been there since the beginning. I normally I get coconut coffee but I like the blended type not the coconut cream type. Pandan and black sesame seems to be a regular item on the menu at most I love to check out trendy coffee shops when I'm out of town. Have never seen yogurt coffee, not even in Orange County, CA and decided to try that. I knew it would be a gamble because I do not like the tarty sour flavor of Vietnamese yogurt. I devoured it and would absolutely order it again. Pandan latte: I got this with the default settings (regular ice, sugar, and dairy milk). It was loaded with ice, so I'd ask for less next time. They're located right by the I-5 underpass off of Jackson Street and 10th Ave, under the Thai Binh Apartments building. Phin specializes in phin drip Vietnamese coffee. While the Vietnamese coffee game is STRONG in Seattle these days, Phin's coffee is stronger! If you're looking for a caffeine kick that has a strong taste then Phin is the place to go! They don't offer a lot of flavors or cream tops like other Vietnamese coffeeshops in the city, but they definitely make up their quantity for their quality. My most recent visit I tried my favorite Vietnamese coffee combo, the black sesame cream Vietnamese coffee! The nutty-ness from the black sesame gave for a sweet earthy flavor profile, mixed with a smooth drip coffee. Can't beat it! I've also had their pandan waffles too, and they're some of the most delicious waffles I've ever had! Came here for the Phê x Phin popup and was not disappointed. My girlfriend had been seeing the viral banana pudding matchas on social media so we were excited to try it out. The matcha and hojicha on their own were really flavorful and tasted high-quality, not too bitter or watered down. Paired with the banana pudding, the drinks had the perfect amount of sweetness and it was not overpowering at all. Definitely some of the best matcha and hojicha I've had in Seattle, these did not disappoint. The ambiance was pretty cozy and felt especially nice today since it was raining. This coffee place is a small shop in an apartment building. The coffee shop has a selection of books by Vietnamese authors, one of which I purchased myself within the past year. Service does take longer given one person staffing the coffee shop the day I went. I will be back to try the waffles. The coffee has an interesting aftertaste, but it tastes authentic like what we've tasted in Vietnam. Limited seating with tables too low for working and there's no wifi, so this is more of a pit-stop-with-a-friend place. (Update as of May: there's now a long table with a few seats) Haven't been to this part of Chinatown, on the other side of the freeway, and it's a lot less sketchier with more upscale businesses. My 100th Yelp review! I love Phin because of their dedication to non-dairy alternatives for everyone at no extra cost. I've seen shops charge from $0.50 to $2 extra for oat milk, but Phin has it for FREE! This past weekend (February 18-19, 2023) they also partnered with Oatly to give all their oat-based drinks half-off! How awesome. Taking the opportunity, we ordered the oat milk cafe sua (regular price $5 regular size, $7 large) and oat milk isabel (regular price $5 regular size, $7 large) . I learned that they also make all their condensed milks in-house AND that they created an oat-milk condensed milk. You can buy containers of their condensed milk as well, and it was also half off, so I took home a jar of the oat milk condensed milk for myself (regular price $7). In total, everything was only $10. What a great deal. Even though oat alternatives are used, there is no skimping on flavor. Phin's Vietnamese coffee is STRONG! But still delicious and creamy. If you don't like it as strong, order the Isabel, which has a lighter coffee flavor and an additional vanilla flavor. We ordered both drinks iced, but they can be made hot as well. All the disposable materials given were compostable. Don't worry, the straws are not paper (not sure what compostable material it was, but it did not fall apart!) Parking can be difficult to find as only street parking is available. There is seating available in the cafe and a gender-neutral bathroom. The staff were informative and friendly. read more

This is such a cute little coffee house and the barista/cashier listened to my likes and dislikes and we decided that the Isabel coffee would be the best for me and she was right! The Isabel has became my go to coffee drink when I am there. My go to items during the cold weather are the Isabel (hot) and their pandan waffle. Their pandan waffle is soooo crispy and fluffy! It's so good! You can customize the waffle to your liking but I prefer it the way it is with no add-ons. Again, that tantalizing aroma from the waffle irons wafted in the air. All three were nicely packed in a carryout bag. The scent permeated my car as I headed back up north towards University Village. I hand delivered two of the three to The Homie and his friend who were in a grand opening line for a new shop. They were both surprised and grateful for the tasty treat that functioned temporary hand warmers. I laughed when others in line said farewell to the "waffle goddess". I didn't eat the remaining one until much later in the day. Following a suggestion from fellow Yelp Elite/IG friend and Phin fan, Wendy K, I divided my waffle into quarters and placed them in the toaster. One of my favorite Vietnamese coffee shops in the ID. I love introducing friends to it and was able to bring a new friend here yesterday. Everything is a labor of love here. House made almost everything and sustainable on top of it! I have been slowly making my through the list of items offered. I got to try two items I've been wanting to get for awhile the flan with coffee ice and chanh muối (salted limesoda) house made salted limes in a fizzy refreshing soda. The soda was refreshing and was like lime soda with a bit of li hing. Flan is not usually my go to dessert, but can't rave enough about this dish. I think its the contrast in textures and flavor of the coffee ice. One of the reasons I love this place, I feel like the experience is just as wonderful as their products.
