I had an appointment in the area with some time to kill beforehand so I stopped in at Arosa Café. This is a quaint little coffee shop with a few sit-down areas and plenty of parking in the lot or on the street. I ordered a decaf americano and a banana/nutella waffle and both items were superbly delicious and priced fairly! Service was friendly and personable, though I do believe the gentleman in line behind me received his coffee and food before I did. Though I was in no rush and it's not worth knocking any stars off. Delightful service and very clean cafe. Cesar is passionate about his products and the customer's experience. I ordered an iced matcha tea, but it was too sweet for my taste. Cesar offered to make an unsweetened version, but since it was a premade powder, I opted for an iced tea instead. This was fine. The arepas themselves are delicious. Great texture, flavor, and chew. My friend had one with black beans which she said was good, but not as warm as could be. The shredded beef in mine was also not hot (so the cheese didn't melt) but it does not take away from the experience. Cesar said the flavor and the way the meat is sliced is authentically Venezuelan. Nice location, sufficient parking and we were told by another guest that there is typically a line out the door. We waltzed in 30 minutes before closing and were served quickly. Hidden in a plaza next to the arboretum, this place can be easy to miss - but it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a nice brunch scene. My wife and I ordered: Chicken avocado panini Carne mechada panini Chicken coconut curry soup The paninis were nice and light, and I would highly recommend the chicken avocado panini. I do love my paninis, and the char was crispy and the avocado added a lot of flavor with each bite. The carne mechada was a bit dry - however, the owner quickly brought out some garlic aioli, which was a huge savior for the panini. Overall, the paninis were pretty tasty. Not a huge fan of the soups - they were pretty mediocre. But the paninis were great, and I was eyeing, with great envy, every waffle that passed my way (they looked nice too). The food's pretty good - not the best, but far from the worst. But what gives this place its unique "umph" that pushes this review to a 5-star rating is its vibe and the pleasantries of the staff. The walls are adorned with photos and art that adds to the character of the cafe, and there's a mini-makers mart on the other side to help sell small trinkets and candles to support local artists. It's a sight to behold, and one that just makes this place that much more lovable. So come on in to Arosa's Cafe and admire the cozy nature of this shop. They are planning on establishing another location up north in Ravenna, and we will soon be frequenting that location once it settles. read more

The food here is really good but the standout is truly the amazing service. This is functionally a "grab n' go" coffee shop but...done to the highest possible level. The breakfast sandwiches are handmade and delicious and there is a deluxe, but tiny, indoor dining area and two small tables outside. I was a bit disappointed to not find any arepas (the main reason I came here), but the staff informed me that they only do those on Saturday. What a cute spot with such friendly service! I couldn't decide between breakfast or lunch so ended up getting (to share) the Strawberry Nutella Waffle, Eggplant Panini and an egg sandwich. The waffle was a huge hit, and the eggplant panini wasn't all wet and soggy when I got home like many other paninis can be while ordering takeout. I'll have to go back to try the coffee, but the prices here are great for what you get and it's such a treat to be able to try multiple things on the menu as a vegetarian, instead of just being stuck with one option. The Avocado Chicken Sandwich was fantastic--definitely a highlight! Unfortunately, I'm giving just 2 stars due to the coffee, ambience, and service. I ordered a flat white, and it was one of the worst coffees I've had in Seattle. The service also fell short; When we ordered, we clearly specified that it was for here. Upon arrival, there were a few tables already occupied, and since the food was being served on plates, we expected the same for our order. Instead, we received our meals wrapped up for takeout without any plates. It took a while for them to realize their mistake and eventually provide us with plates. But by then we had almost eaten our sandwiches The place is small, so it can get quite loud when it's busy. I'll definitely return for that sandwich, but only for takeout next time. read more

Super friendly, family run cafe. Try their rich mocha or any of their other espresso drinks. While I always enjoy their breakfast sandwiches, my favorite is the chicken avocado panini or a more recent addition, their arepa. Caesar always greats me with a smile and brightens my day. Stopped here on the way home from the Washington Park Arboretum. There's a small parking lot for the shopping place. Decided to try the signature mocha but iced and a chocolate croissant. Not only was the croissant delicious, the Iced mocha was outstanding, just the right amount of sweet with the right amount of coffee. It was such a nice day so we elected to sit outside. They brought us our food when it was ready. My egg and cheese on ciabatta with sausage totally hit the spot. The ciabatta bread tasted fresh. Sometimes ciabatta can be hard but this one wasn't. It was filled with the perfect balance of egg, cheese, and sausage. They brought out some tapatio hot sauce for me, too. We got two lattes--just normal lattes--to accompany us on a walk around the Arboretum. For the price I was really hoping I would be wowed, but it tasted like burnt drip coffee and milk. It was difficult to drink and neither of us finished our drinks. This spot might be more of a cozy eatery (there was indoor and outdoor seating) but everyone we saw eating also had coffee so we figured it was worth a try. Nada.
